[Q] T-Mobile HD2, any differences - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

So... I got my T-mobile HD2 last summer. and well, I've been living in a cave so i didn't know how amazing this phone can be.
I have the original rom and ran a official update to 3.14
Here are my few questions:
1) Is there anything I'll have to do differently to Flash WP7 if this is a T-MO HD2.
2) I've heard there's something about the radio. what exactly I'll have to do?
3) I looked at many tutorial videos and guides on youtube and Im getting confused. where should I start? HSPL and all those stuffs.
thanks for reading, If i posted at a wrong section please move me

1. There is nothing diffrent at all . all you do is this
-Hard SPL your phone
-Flash MAGLDR 1.12 or newer
-Flash WP7
2. At the time of me flashing WP7 I was also running WinMo 6.5 with the latest update 3.14. As far as I can tell the radio included in that update works flawlessly with WP7.
3. Like I said the process has been made very easy. Just google "HSPL3 for HD2"
and download both files found in the WP7 ROM post by DFT. That is all you need to upgrade.

Nevermind, got it! =]

How can I get Tmous ROM on HD2?

I'm currently on WWE 1.66. I don't own a T-mobile HD2!
Do I need those HSPL/SPL stuff????
I downloaded Tmous rom 2.10 and tried to flash with RUU and I get error 260.
Thanks for your answers.
Better do a lot more reading of the sticky threads and wiki on flashing a HD2 before you have another attempt at it, or you are going to give yourself the present of an expensive paperweight.
as fireman999 said. read.
look here

all about tmous hd2
I read already stickies... but don't know where to start, so many topics :S
Just tell me how to start, what to do.. which topic should I look and so on. Because I'm confused right now.
download hspl2
install it - choose 2.08.hspl
flash your 2.10 rom over usb
thats it.

Quite why people are so obtuse when it comes to installing a ROM is beyond me. Sam is right, go to the ROM development forum and read the flashing thread it literally WALKS you step by step through the entire process and covers all eventualities. Why people expect XDA to help them when they can't be bothered to read even as far as the stickys is beyond me.
Thanks guys. I got it working!
I just didn't know how to start, because this is "stock" rom but I didn't knew if I had to instal HSPL or not.
Thanks again for helping me

i need guides...

hi. i just bought a tmobile hd2. some of my phones informations is:
spl-2.10.0000 8g xe
fcc id:nm8pb81120

protocol 15.39.50.07u
cpu 8250b
speed 1024mhz
ram 576 mb
flash size 1024mb
i've read lots of articles on this site. i suppose i'll need to instal another rom on my phone. i read a lot but i get little confused. i think first i have to instal HardSPL (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614) second i have to flash a radio and i can instal a rom. and on this page (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784) it says i don't need to flash a radio. which means that i just install hardspl and instal this rom... am i right?
can you guys help me what am i suppose to do... and which version of hardspl, radio and rom works well for me?
sory to ask lots of questions but i don't know enough about wm phones ( thanks for guides...
Hi, basic steps are
1. Backup your important data like contacts etc..
2. Its very IMPORTANT that you Flash HardSPL first before flashing any ROM (No worries,it only needs to be done once for you to enjoy subsequent custom ROMs). Version 2.08.HSPL is ok.
3. Browse the threads for a suitable "TMobile HD2 compatible ROM" or visit this link for comfirmed ROMs.
4. Perform a Hard reset after successfully flashing any of the ROMs
5. Enjoy!
i suggest u clear your schedule, get coffee, tea, drink(s) and visit This Link . It contains info and links to all the guides you can possibly need to push you and your device to a higher level. i wouldn't recommend trying android till you are very comfortable with flashing ROMs.
you dont need to worry about the radio just yet, because since you have a tmous phone, it already has a radio that will work with all tmous compatible roms anyway.
Well I'm gonna just say right now I'm not an expert or anything since I'm relatively new too. I'm just trying to help, I would however advise wait for a more experienced person to answer.
First, if you want to flash a ROM follow this guide for the TMOUS HD2's. It goes over how to do it, which ROMs are compatible and all that.
Yes, you do have to get HSPL (except I think there are methods when you don't, though that might just be for the international phones...). But to get HSPL you should probably use this. I don't know if it is the only thing that does it but it, from what I understand, is the most well known. It also keeps you from "bricking" your phone.
From what I understand the only time you have to flash a radio is if the ROM needs it, and the chefs will say if it needs a certain one or list ones that it works with on their ROM page. I think most of them support the radio that comes stock, though don't take my word for it. I would wait for someone else to confirm or re-explain this paragraph because I'm not completely for sure.
As for which ROM is right for you...well only you can answer that. They all are different and different ones have advantages over the others. You just gotta explore a little and see what looks nice. This is the list of ROMs that support the T-Mobile HD2 so stick to it. I don't know how up-to-date it is (meaning I don't know if there are any new ones or not) but stick to those, you can "brick" your phone otherwise.
I would however advise if you're new to WM phones to try out themes first. They are a lot safer and I don't think there is any chance of ruining your phone (the only reason I flashed mine is because I've done it with a different phone before and felt comfortable doing it). Don't do anything you are uncomfortable doing and understand all the risks that go into anything you do to your phone before you do them.
Sorry for the long post, just hope this helps a little.
Edit:
I just got double ninja'd

That's d spirit...You'll be amazed @ what the search function on XDA coughs up...Everything'll go well once u stick to d guides and TMobile compatibie ROMs & Radios.
i picked up this rom (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=652649) but there is two options. 1) com5(c5) 2)com2(c2). i don't know what it means... and if want to install one of these roms do i have to flash a radio after installing hspl?
and what is the stock rom?
thanks again...
It looks like COM5 and COM2 are just different versions. COM5 offers more options it looks like though, but I'm not sure. Someone else can probably answer that a lot better than me. I am also unable to answer the radio question. Sorry.
As for stock ROM though, that is the ROM that came already on your HD2 when you got it.

I see u picked out Kumar's ROM...Click Here for a thread on the definitions and differences between COMs...And No, you won't need to flash a radio after installing HSPL or a custom ROM (Unless you are having problems connecting to your network in which case, u need 2 be careful 2 flash a radio known to work with Tmobile HD2).
Stock ROM is the original/default ROM which TMobile shipped with your device. Follow this guide and you can grab the stock ROM from here. The Stock ROM has to be re-flashed to your device if u ever have to return it to Tmobile as flashing a custom ROM voids your warranty. Grab useful links and watch video tutorials here.
Hope dis helps ya.

So none of the builds here are compatible with tmo hd2?

i was thinking of getting a miui rom for my hd2 but upon reading how to flash hard spl i came across something that said that not all builds are compatible with the tmo hd2 is this true? does this mean i can run miui on my hd2?
i saw this video an it seems his phone is tmo also, so can i just put any build on my tmo hd2?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRRWBp5l9jk
I believe you just have to find a certain HSPL first for the TmoUS HD2. I have one and I have no problem running any of the Android builds. There is a separate guide for HSPL the TmoUS HD2. I believe it was this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614 . As for the android builds, just set up T-Mobile APNs if its not already there, and if you're in the US some of them may require you to download Morelocale2 from the Market to change it to English US.
Here's another recent TMOUS build, found this on page 2 of this forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820696
Hi all! i have tmous, and i can use the more of android rom. Currently used by vbn rom, it's good because stock 885 mb and 443 Mb RAM and frees me up in it autoboot. MIUI ruins only problem I've tried the ringtones do not play I do not know why. The cyanogen and running and the evo is going to ruin. The definition does not always succeed in ruins.
My phone TMOUS
Radio 2.15.50.14
rom 3.14.351.1
I have used alot of builds on my tmous HD2 for ages, even without putting HSPL on my device. All these builds should work even on a completely factory device. Although, i think you have to enter apn settings to get data working for tmo, i have never used tmo so i have no experience with that.

Sergio76 CoreDroid v0.8 is a perfect build. It is available in 2 versions: TMOUS and NON-TMOUS. As I live in the Netherlands, I use the non-tmous of course and that build is very good.

First of all, your question doesn't belong in this forum. If you'll post your question in the proper place, you will probably find more help.
Secondly, HSPL has NOTHING do do with android on the TMOUS HD2.
The flash update programs (and HSPL) will not run on a MAC. You will either have to use a Windows machine OR use Virtual Box with Windows on the MAC. If any of this is over your head, you should probably do some more research before trying to flash your phone.
I did some research i didnt know it would be a problem that i was using a mac... so i download virtualbox an then?
Bootcamp is your friend
ok so after i install hspl do i still need windows to install builds or am i ok with a mac to install builds?
first...let me be clear.....you don't need to do hspl, you don't need custom rom to have android on your hd2. all you need to have is a radio version of 2.08 or above...since yours is a tmous, it mostly will have a radio above 2.08
you run android from sd card, so all you need to do is to drag and drop the build of android onto your sd card...windows/mac doesnt matter for dragging and drop files to sd card
all android builds in this forum run on tmous well, so just stop losing yourself too deep into the forums, check your radio version..if it is.>2.08.xx....copy any android folder to sd card and you are good to go ! ..if radio is less than 2.08, then all you need is to do hspl, flash only a higher radio (no need for custom ROM)
hope that makes it clear to you

2 hours and still none the wiser ,please help

I have read through hundreds of posts and still confused ,basically i want to run Android as a dual boot with windows my stats are
ROM 1.72.206
Radio 2.07.51
Proto 15.32.50
There is a lot of confusing threads with some saying this wont work with that code and you need to flash this but it wont work unless you have higher than this,my brain is turning to mush .
I have read all the differences with sspl ,spl ,hspl and still dont know what i have on mine ,i installed bsb tweakes when i first had the phone a few months ago aswell as loading tomtom and memory map which have worked fine .i have now come across a few more apps that i need but they only work on android ,could someone please please help on a newbie trying to install Android and provide some links for me to follow .
Many many thanks in advance
You have to flash a radio with .50 in it, instead of .51.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787 for more instructions on doing this
After your radio is good, just download an Android SD build to your SD card, boot into WinMo, launch clrcad.exe and then haret.exe
Clrcad doesn't open any window, haret launches Android.

I do not know whether you have ever installed android on HD2 or not, but according to my understanding you are just starting and you are overwhelmed. Basically if you have HD2 with win6.5 OS then you should start by installing HSPL3, followed by radio(your radio seems to be very old. Flash new one 2.15.50.xx). Once you are done with these 2 steps, you can install android on HD2.

Did you check your SPL version. What version do you have???
These are the stats i have
OS 5.2.21869
Manilla 2.5.20121429
Rom 1.72.206.3
Radio 2.07.51.22.2
Protocol 15.32.50
How do i check the spl ? i have soft reset the phone but cant get the 3 colours up
restart your phone and hold the volume down button when it turns back on to get to the multicolor boot screen... that will tell you what spl you have.
Make sure the volume down is held down while the phone first gets turned on, so if you reset it, start holding the volume down right before it turns off and keep holding it until the boot screen pops up.. it should happen right away.
You should be able to use hspl3 with most spl's. Once you have hspl installed, you want to install one of the newer radios, and then your phone should be ready to run android off the sd card.

There is no 1024 UK version. The T-Mobile USA version is the only 1024mb ROM version. The UK/ euro versions are 512mb rom size. I'm pretty sure that hspl3 works with all the phones. Hspl2 might have only been for leo1024s, but cotulla made hspl3 to make it universally compatible. When i sign on with my computer, I'll look it up if you haven't figured it out by then.
