Hey guys
I'm getting my Desire Z at the end of this week, and was wondering about the battery life. After browsing various threads, it seems you can somewhat sort it out by tweaking it. I'd rather not do that, as I'm not that advanced.
I was thinking after seeing how I fare with the Desire Z, getting an extended battery like the Mugen Power 1800mAh Extended battery $44.95. I wouldn't want one that needs to make the phone any bigger than it is.
Also I'm not totally savvy on the prices, but is that a decent price for a battery like that?
Any advice would be extremely appreciated, thanks!
(PS, it would need to be compatible with my UK charger, not sure if that changes anything)

It has the same size with the stock battery unless you'll buy the 3600 mAh, performance?? Ill give 10/10. Its worth the price and worth the wait, I never seen anyone who had a complaint about their mugen battery my stock batt runs for 7hours per full charge light-moderate use now my mugen last 11-16hours light-moderate use. It doubles my stock battery life span so here's my Mugen 1800 mAh review.

Agreed...
I too have been looking at a better battery and also heard that atleast for the g2, that the evo 4g battery may also work and on amazon they had 2 batts and charger for 40 bucks but you should look and read in the g2/desire accessories forum first.

No need to create a new thread when there are already THREE open threads in accessories that discuss everything you could possible want to know about the G2/Desire Z and battery consumption:

Hi guys, long time lurker first time posting.
I have the Droid Eris and just picked up the Imagio today to see which I like best.
I noticed when pulling the cover off the imagio the plug/adapter and battery all looked very familiar. After further review it is in fact the EXACT same battery that HTC puts into the Droid Eris. I happened to order a Innocell Extended battery from Seidio. I pushed it in and it worked like a champ!
I cant post links yet but the product information is:
Product Code: BASI17HHRV
Innocell 1750mAh Slim Extended Life Battery
Under HTC Eris on their webpage.
www . seidioonline . com
Hope this helps some of you!
Link?
Is this what you were looking at? I hope so, I'd love to be able to get more battery life out of my phone!
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/basi17hhrv.htm
I really don't mean this in the negative way it will sound, but...
The stock battery is 1500mah & replacing it with a 1750mah battery isn't worth thinking about less you have destroyed your stock lipo entirely & can not have it replaced (which verizon & HTC do)

I had it around from my Eris, and I do notice a longer battery life out of the 1750. I especially need it as my apartment is like norad and I dont have much signal there, so it hops in and out of signal range, putting a drain on my battery.
Hi,
i read somewhere (French source) that HTC was going to release a larger capacity (rumoured 1450mAH) battery in the next 2 month for the DHD. Can anyone confirm this ?
German HTC have refused to comment on it.
That would be amazing!
Ain't gonna happen, thats my guess.
HTC don't win anything with this and i don't think its even possible because of the fixed alu. housing. They can't make it bigger.
New phones arrive soon, so they not gonna put effort in making a bigger battery.
My 2 cents.
Post a link with that info.
i hope they do come out with that. it should be 1500 mah in the first place
I emailed HTC about a month ago, Nada. But they said they're investigating the battery life
I saw some batteries on Ebay, but I think they are cheap batteries, it can be dangerous...
don't trust the third party batteries, they don't perform well.

I really doubt it. Also, 1450mAh would only be an increase of 18% of capacity. Of course any increase would be nice, but current battery tech coupled with the alu housing just doesn't allow for much higher capacity batteries than stock for the DHD.

I can confirm a new "Replacement Battery for Desire HD" is available, the very same size to fit in the unibody, and it is 1600mAh, you read well. I ordered one about 10 days ago, they tried to deliver it today, but I wasn't home, so I have to go to the Post Office tomorrow.
You can order it from HTCPedia:
http://shop.htcpedia.com/inspire-4g-desire-hd-extended-battery-1600mah.html
But I found it cheaper, here:
http://www.htcrepairparts.com/standard-battery-for-htc-desire-hd1600mah-p-3411.html?language=en
I'll report back about it towards the end of the week.
This is not an htc brand. There is a thread discussing screen issues that was caused by a similar battery expanding after several charges and pressing against the screen. Personally I would stay clear of non branded battery - its not worth the risk.
Htcpedia is not related to htc.

These aren't official HTC batteries and if they are similar to the ones being discussed, endlessly, in the accessories section are inferior to the stock HTC batteries and unlikely to offer any gain in battery life, but please report back but give the batteries at least 7-10 days of normal use before offering any realistic feedback.
Well, you managed to scare me... I thought HTCPedia was serious enough not to sell or advertise garbage.
It cost me less than 20€ (about 28 USD). I'll give it a try around 7-10 days right, but will most probably remove it if I encounter screen issues.
Yep picture looks exactly like the one I got from a UK supplier and has swollen enough to press against the inside of the phone
Did it last longer. Ermm yes and probably about 30% longer but over the two months I have had it performance has dropped below that of the original so personally I have been unsuccessful and will be sticking with the original HTC one
Id buy this but the battery life isnt as bad as it used to be. Its probably got something to do with HTC shipping their batteries uncalibrated or maybe Im just getting used to owning a smartphone
Isn't there a new nano technology available that can store more mAh? Maybe thats what there aiming for? They will profit from it because many would buy an Official battery with mor mAh..
Just do some tweak and it will save ur battery life longer..bigger capacity just giving it more juicer but that is not far different from original. I think just flash to new recommended ROM + Radio to get the best result
Battery lasts nearly 2 days for me with moderate use on standard HTC battery.
You just got to get the phone set up right or go the custom rom route to get even better battery life.

Net yet.. Battery Technology has hit a brick wall at the moment and basically what you have now is the best out there...
However there are some clever stuff happening. There is one which I particularly from last year
http://www.greenmuze.com/climate/energy/2761-mit-nanotube-batteries-.html
However we are still at least 5 years away from this entering the market in my opinion...
Just try and buy an extra battery if you really need more juice
Has anyone used / reviewed the extended battery from expansys-usa?
Its relatively cheap compared to other battery + cases, so wondering if this one actually provides a full 2600mah.

There's a thread in the accessories section discussing it. Mugen has one coming out too. I love the idea of never worrying about battery life, but OMG does that make the phone look ugly. I got a Sparc and some extra batteries to accomplish the same thing without defiling my phone.
Thanks I will check it out!
Would someone give me a suggestion of buying extended battery for the PLAY? I found an information of 3600mAH Mugen Power battery quite impressive but it come about double size in thickness compare to the stock one that scare the **** out of me. I wish not to make my phone anymore bulky as it already is My $$ would go for kinda 2000~2200mAH extended battery with a same dimension of the stock one.
There is always the 1800mah version.. havent seen any other
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...xperia-x1-1800mah-extra-eros-akkumulator.html
Yeah, I think it is the only availability now.
I have a Galaxy S Vibrant and bought one of those 3500 maH batteries. Yes it makes it thicker and heavier, but to me it is definitely worth it considering it extended my battery time 2 - 2.5x. I get more than a full day out of the phone. It's a tradeoff you have to decide what it's worth. Of course, you could just buy a second battery and swap them out when it get's low...

I bought my HD2 used and the battery doesn't really get me through the whole school day, (8-4:30ish) even if I don't really do anything on it, it drains pretty quickly. I've conditioned it and everything, but I think the best things to do would be to buy a new battery.
I'd like to buy from eBay or a reputable online retailer.
Does anyone have any great stories with any batteries?
Make sure out have the apps Juice Defender Pro, Screebl, and SetCpu (with a profile to run the processor at the minimum when screen is off). With these, plus official extended battery, I get between 24 and 36 hours on my HD2.

I use Typhoon CM7 NAND Android on my HD2 and I get easily through 2.5-3 days with moderate use (WiFi included) - my avg stand by is 2-3mA but sometimes it even goes to 1mA (rarely but it does).
You shld get rid of wm if you have it and make your HD2 worth it!!!!
I bought a battery which shoul have 1600 mAh but so big like the normal HTC battery with 1230 mAh.
I didn't feel that I had more capacity, it didin't hold longer than with the normal one.
So i bought the original HTC HD2 Power Battery with 2400mAh and it was awesome. I could easy work with the phone for 2 days without loading and i make a lot with it.
The disadvantage of the Power Battery is that its nearly twice as big as with the normal, but i love it to work with the phone without looking on the battery percentage
If want long work time and size does not matter - original with 2400mAh. And no "chinese" batteries with increased capacity.
dot bother with the ecell battery its a waste of time

I'm not doubting that that's an excellent battery, but when you got the 0mA reading you appeared to be charging the phone and 2 days isn't really that hard to manage if you only use the phone moderately. Also don't forget that the ROM itself will have some effect on the results.
you can buy several backup batteries for emergency
