[Q] xperia x8 bricked (searched and tried lots of things and nothing worked) - XPERIA X8 General

Hello,
I've been trying all day to unbrick my xperia x8 phone with no success.
This is what succeded:
1) I changed the lcd
2) tried a hard reset with no success
3) tried to update with sony ericsson update software several times, trying different things each time.
4) tried all kinds of different solutions posted on these forums.
These are the problems I'm finding at the moment.
1) When I try to turn the phone on, it blinks between light black and nothing, slowly. No led turns on.
2) I can't mange the phone memory stick files when connected through usb
3) when i take off the battery and plug it usb or to the plug, i see the orange light, indicating that it's charging. But when I try to turn it on, the light never comes up again until I remove the batery again.
4) The only way I updated the phone via sony ericsson software, while holding the c button to detect the phone. But other software can't detect the phone, and the green light goes out very quickly. (unless using sony ericsson update software).
I can't find a solution for this. Would greatly appreciate some help. Thankyou.

If you had searched this forum, you would have found this. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply.
I had tried that before, and tried it again. I still have the same problem.
The Update Service Version i used was the one recommended at Sony Ericsson Support Center website. 2.11.1.9
Any other suggestion?
Thanks in advance

If you used PC companion then I recommend trying the Sony Ericsson Update service. If you already tried that then, try the PC companion. If you tried both and they are not working, then use the flash tool.

Thankyou,
Yes I have tried both.
The flash tool is at sony ericsson's support center?

Flash tool is on this forum, search a little bit.

Ok, I just flashed it using the software version 2.3.
And I'm still in the same scenario.
I do have some questions though.
Should I flash it with the micro sd in?
After flashing it using the software, should it be ready to run?
I flashed the phone using android 1.6.
Thank you.

You flashed versioon 2.3??? From which phone?
Maybe your new LCD is damaged and it can't show anything..

@[email protected]
I believe is a typing error lol

Sorry, it was indeed.
What I meant was, I flashed the phone using the Flashtool version 0.2.3.

Sorry for double posting but, regarding the new lcd.
I bought it on ebay, and, I think it's not damaged. I also think I did not damage the phone changing it, I used specific tools and was very careful.
If it was the screen, the led should at least blink red a couple of times while turning it on shouldn't it?

I haven't notified it, you should insert a withoutPIN-SIM and after a while try to call the phone, if it is on you should ring, otherwhise...

Tried that and nothing.
Anyway of finding out what the problem really is? :s
Because I see that I can flash the phone and update it's firmware with three different softwares.
Sony Ericsson Update Service
Sony Ericsson PC Companion
X10 Flash tool 0.2.3 by Bin4ry

I have another question, can I unplug the cellphone after the firmware flash?
It says so, but the led is still green.
Just trying to find the real problem here :s
Thanks for all the support though.

i read all the post. according to your description it seems to be hardware related problem not software 100%. cauz as you said you can change the firmware. then that mean you really need some pro help. just contact with your lcd supplier and ask help from them. they can help you if you dont want to go to technician..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what I'm thinking, but I don't think it's the lcd.
The old one shows with a crack in it, the new one shows no crack. Both show a blank screen.
Might be something else, trying to find out what :s

Ok, seems that the problem is from the new lcd.
I found this because, when I place the old one, after a while, I see the red led blink a couple of times.
And with the new one, I don't see any of that.
So, it can only be that, in my opinion.
Thanks for everything anyway.
Best regards.

Help needed!

I have bought an Xperia X10 from Ebay and now get stuck on start screen shows me the start-up animation continous. What i can do my Pc sees my Xperia like Xperia X4 instead of X10 and doesn't find any driver.
Any help?
Thanks in advance!
Have you tried a reset?
u Sure its a original and not a chinese copy?
first off i find it interesting that you joined jan 2008 and THIS is your first post!
if you've been here since then you'd probably have noticed by now that most people include as much information as possible when posting if they want their question answered.
And.. not to mention you probably noticed each forum has subforums with different categories.. like the one for GENERAL? I don't see Android DEVELOPMENT having anything to do with your phone not starting.
let's start over.
A. what version of the phone did you buy? unlocked?
B. what carrier are you using it on?
C. is there a SIM or a microSD in the device when you are attempting to boot it up?
D. What version of windows are you trying to connect your device to?
we might have a better understanding of what's going on if you could answer these questions for us.
Killerskincanoe i use my acount only for tutorials, downloading applications and roms and till now i didn't have any problems with my phones.
I bought the phone from Ebay unlocked and i used with Vodafone but worked fine with Orange..etc.
My phone is Prototype Ap1 and my Pc sees it like Xperia X4 but the phone is 100% Xperia X10 because i used few weeks and everything worked right.
I tried to boot it up with/without sim or card and nothing changes.
I'm using Windows7 64.
Krabman i don't know the combinations of buttons to try an hard reset and i can't install the driver.
Sorry for my english.
Any help will be apreciated.
I would contact SE to get the button combo for the reset as its not in the manual which only shows the menu path. You did pull the battery and let it set for a few minutes before putting it back in right?
Hi. (Hai noroc.. )You can try the following. Go to the official sony ericsson website, and download UPDATE SERVICE. Start it, then follow these steps:
-Remove and re-insert the battery (make sure it's more than half)
-Press the back (<-) button while connecting the phone to your PC (keep pressing untill further notice)
-Usually after the phone has been correctly recognised, it will let you know.
Even if it's a prototype it should work and update the SW.
My only concern is.. How the hell did you manage to buy an acceptance unit online?!..
And more.. WHY did you get it? It's a known fact that prototypes are the most unstable..
Anyway.. if the update service doesn't work.. It's most probable that is a very early proto, or a chinese replica like reb0rn said.
any news on this problem i have a non proto that hangs on activating screen also

hi guys can you help,i got the phone last week on a 24 month contract from phones 4 u,had problems with first one had to change over for a replacement, second one worked fine, installed a app called justpics set a picture as wallpaper a message kept coming up saying'force close' so turned phone off, now all i get is the 2 sony ericsson logos then the 2 lights at bottom of handset light up and the screen goes black, ive tryed charging it removing sim card, battery, memory card etc but nothing....if anyone can help i would really appreciate it,eg how to place phone in safe mode/master reset etc thanks guys
do a reinstall of the firmware.
get the SEUS tool from the sony website and do a reflash.
how would i do that? im not very up with phones sorry
Download Sony Ericsson PC companion from Sony Ericsson website, install it and follow simply instructions to re install the firmware,it's very user friendly.
On the phone: Mount the memory card by dragging the status bar on the phone downwards and then tap USB Connected > Mount.
thanks for the advice guys but
Cant do this as screen is black and wont move.
Sounds like software is corrupted. Maybe you ought to try coming back to Phones4U and tell them the problem if the below doesn't work.
Have you tried removing the battery, Micro SD card, and SIM card for a couple mins then reinsert them and power it up again?
You really can't do anything else with a black screen...

Download SE Update Service try it out
run update service OR pc companion.
they both have a repair option where u hold the back button and plug up. sorted!
still nothing i contracted phones 4 u and they have ordered me a new phone so 3 time lucky.....fingers crossed
I would assume from this post that perhaps this program "justpics" may be the culprit. Did the issues you are having start after installing it? Read here as it sounds like the app has been a problem for others as well. Maybe try a factory reset and keep away from this one.

Debranding aftermath

Hey there guys
I thought I would start up this thread for those of us who have debranded there handsets to post any and all problems we have encountered after debranding so we can discuss them and hopefully find a way to solve one anothers problems.
I'd just like to stress though that this is not a thread for learning how to debrand, if you want to know that Follow these instructions
This is also not a thread for sorting out problems relating to not being able to debrand, there's a thread for that and it's loacated HERE
So with that out of the way, i've noticed that since debranding my clock doesn't stay synchronised with my network anymore which is odd. Anyone else experiencing these problems or any other problems?
Cheers
John
same problem with the clock, although not sure if it was like that before the debrand, its on manual now instead of auto update.
Guys my pc switched off while debranding, now stuck with a X10 which after the initial SE start-up screen only shows an exclamation mark (!) and does not boot or connect to pc companion or the update service anymore. The phone is initially recognized as a SE phone and pc companion instructs you to mount the sd card which is difficult when there is nothing but an X10 and ! image on the screen.
Use SEUS and connect using back button and inserting cable =).
The clock has nothing to do with debranding, at my stock Rom its the same in O2...

Doesn't connect here's what happens
Update Service - Connects after the above method but gives an error for internet connection something about 'unable to download your phone software'.
PC Companion - Shows as detected SE phone and states 'Drag status bar downward, tap usb connected, tap mount....'. However when you can only see an image of the X10 with a triangle with an "!" in it, your left with nothing to drag down or click.
While trying my luck with different combination of hard buttons found one combination (back button, camera button, power button, volume buttons...) which prompts to Installing SE ROM... on the status bar on my pc, tring to figure out which combo did that.
Don't want to take the phone to the local SE dealer even though it's under warranty as the service centre takes between 14 days to a month even on basic problems.
Off-topic does anyone where I can get an original white Xperia X10 housing, my local SE dealer has been posting full page ads for the phone in the local paper but will have no parts available till end May.
Rgds.
Keep trying with SEUS, the problem your having with that is down to there servers, not your phone. If you keep trying you'll eventually get through.
As for the white housing, I know for a fact Ebay has some authentic white housing for about $50 I think and it comes with the necessary toolshed for the job. Fair warning though you will lose you warranty if you open your device up.

Tried over 30 times over 2 days same as above unable to download, I think it has more to do than servers being busy.
The housing is to be handed over to the local SE dealer to fit, as they won't have the housing or any other parts till end of May.
Is there any other way to recover my phone without taking it to the dealer, I bought it on launch date here, reason for debranding was to get Android market with is not allowed in this region by the Telecom Regulatory Authority, so all Android phones for the market have the app missing. We can buy grey market phones (meant for other regions about USD 100 cheaper but no warranty), for a phone which almost cost me USD 850 that did not make much sense.
Full page ads daily in the local papers now for almost a month must cost the dealers quite a lot, wish they invested that kind of money on customer service (by bringing parts for the phone before they launch it). If this was a Nokia, the dealer promises a 2 day service and repair or replacement here, well so much for the warranty.
Rgds,
Ali
Weirdly, the timings reflecting in my FB, twitter posts actually synchronised after debranding. Previously, it reflected as weird timings.
For e.g. if I had posted something, instead of showing 0 mins ago, it shows -23hours or 1890mins ago.
After debranding, all the time issues have been resolved.
Guys my pc switched off while debranding.../QUOTE]
Try it, it will work with SEUS. Try the original files from your backup, not the .16 files! Then it shoul update!

Tried with the original files still no luck, SEUS simply tells me I have the latest firmware, is there anything I'm missing - just want to get my phone back out of this limbo state, even if I can't have Android market.

USB port on X10 is getting disabled
I'm hearing your pain. It sounds odd and many people have not encountered this problem, so it is hard to even explain, harder to understand it, unless it's happened to you I guess.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034997
New battery will help, if you can get another stock X10 and get some charge back into your battery, this is the first problem overcome.
Next you need to get the USB port to work, there is nothing wrong with your computer. It seem's the USB port gets disabled onboard in the X10 firmware somehow and I'm looking into how. Will let you know when I know more but it seems this is going like wildfire with many X10 owners at the moment - myself included - I can not get my phone to detect SEUS and just bought a new battery, which got drained inside of 10 minutes.
FYI - Wolfbreak CM 6.5 v5 was the firmware I was running at the time the problem came to occur for me. This is based on the FreeX10 Beta4, modified by TriPNraVeR and then again modified by Wolfbreak. I'm not sure how far back this problem goes but it is appearing to be across the board on any Froyo variants.
@rendeiro2005, if this is the case, are any of your ROM's also based on the same firmware? If so, you have just seen the issue, it's happening to people in masses at the moment and is not just a simple SEUS or FlashTool fix... the USB port has become disabled on the X10.
I've been into xRecovery and done a factory wipe, which clears all user data, but after that had a few minutes of green LED, then a white led, crashedm and not able to get back in at the moment. I'm working hard to find a solution

[no post count for right section] Soft bricked or hard bricked g3311?

Hello, this is a wrong section[not specific] but it's urgent and it wouldn't let me create a proper thread due to spam.
I used the flashtool to flash my firmware 43.0.A.7.55 with an older version, 4.46 and it worked smoothly but i still had no perma root. I figured i'd get root by simply getting a custom ftf but that did not work. Soo...[sorry] i got a 7.70 firm  because i was already taking a risk with perma rooting so why not go further? I did do research on if i could go with a higher firm than the original and there were stated it's possible but the originals and futures ftf architecture had to fit or something. So i went with it and got a red text stating it only red 98% of the ftf and that i would need drivers for my device now. I had the correct drivers for flashing an older firm so am i supposed to have newer ones for 7.70? So i tried all button combinations, it wouldn't start blinking. I took off the battery connector that was attached to the battery[fk xperia phones] which was insane for me because i was used to just simply taking the battery of, so i connected the usb back to the pc/or wall and then the red led started blinking. I tried different combinations of holding different buttons together ranging from 1 second to 30 seconds and it still did not work. Someone over these forums menioned it'd help if you'd take the battery off, hold the power button and vol up while connecting the battery back so it would supposedly fix something, but it didn't. I let the phone charge from the wall for 3 hours also to see that legendary 1% i'm supposed to get from charging it that long. I might have tried all solutions besides odin and sp tool. Someone mentioned draining the battery to 0 and charging it back but i have not yet tested that since this all happened today. What is strange is people over hard brick threads state that device manager can't detect their device but mine detects an unknown device and what's annoying is it keeps doing that plugging in noise over time and also does it with a rythm when i hold the power button and vol up. It's detecting something i'm sure but is it any help for me? no clue. So is this a soft brick or hard brick and is there a way to fix it without returning it? Because i wont probably get far with stating i left it charging for the whole night. Sorry if you couldn't understand **** , i'm still learning English.
Please leave out all negative comments about how it's all my fault because i'll simply ignore you. [i know it's my fault] :silly:

Did you try Sony's PC Companion Tool https://support.sonymobile.com/za/xperia-companion/ I think if the Red LED is blinking there is still hope that phone can be recovered using this tool. :fingers-crossed:
Use the Repair function.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I think both the PC and Sony's PC Companion Tool both did not detect the drivers i forced before using the specific flashing tool and all i got was an unknown device. Maybe i can force new and original drivers for the phone and get it working again. I will try to quickly find new drivers and respond back!
Best regards,
Norman
