Flash roms on LG Optimus 7 - Optimus 7 General

Is it possible to flash roms on the LG Optimus 7 in any way? I don't mean custom roms I just want to flash an official release build on my device.

How did you loose your official release rom that comes with the device?

I never had it. I'm using a pre-release device with 6536 build.

Then, I think you might need to wait for the first update, as there really isn't any ROMs floating around the web for Optimus 7 yet...

I see no developers who care about optimus 7, so sad. Such a nice phone.

Not true. There may not be any development topics here. However, in the actual WP7 Development forum on XDA, most of the modifications and hacks apply to the Optimus 7 as well (with the exception of the HTC specific or Samsung specific ones, duh!)

There's new thread in the development forum for this device. Teaches you how to flash the firmware along with the correct firmware for specific countries.

Take a look here and use the firmware you prefer )))

Hi all,
I am trying unsuccessfully the method mentioned above without any success since yesterday night.
If followed carefuly the steps but when launching "LGDP2_V36_UMTS.exe", I can't enter Emergency Download mode.
Everything is well installed, my modem was located in port COM4, I have the correct DLL and .dz rom.
But when I press the "Start" button, and plug in with the USB the phone when LG logo appears at startup, nothing happens.
If I set the "USB Switching" to QC Composite, using MFG, when connecting the phone, ports COM5 and COM6 become active (still nothing on port COM4) in LGDP2_V36_UMTS.exe, I get "ErrNum502 EMERGENCY MODEL FAIL" after a few seconds.
Any idea on this? I am currently running an LG Optimus 7 under NoDo Orange-FR branded (would like to flash with the European rom).
Thanks in advance.
Thomas

The roms available for download are for 7004. As far as I know, you cannot flash the older version rom atop the newer OS. Your best bet is to reverse the nodo update with Zune, then attempt to flash the desired rom.

Hi Kapanak,
I see, thanks for your reply. Do you know how to "downgrade" my phone using Zune? I went through the whole parameters and sync list and found nothing.
Thanks,
Thomas

Go to settings>phone>update on the computer you did your NoDo update. There, you will see a "backup" prior to updating your phone. That back, when you phone is connected (make sure of this) will restore 7004 to your phone. Make sure you save everything on your phone before doing this, as you WILL loose everything acquired/synced/changed on your phone after NoDo update...

You can flash which rom du you prefer, sure you can downgrade 'cause this will erase ALL the partitions on your mobile.
DOWNGRADE with flash is SAFE, it's just a waste of time to reverse with zune and then reflash.

@ kapanak:
I guess I had not option to downgrade using Zune as after the Nodo update, I deleted the entire folder Zune created for the restauration point on my computer. I hate softwares using 1.5Go on my hard drive for "nothing" Guess it was a mistake here...
@ the.rider1290:
Based on your post, you mean that even running Nodo, I can flash directly using the ROMs available for download here? And this would downgrade automatically my phone from Nodo (Orange FR linked) to the previous WP7 version Europe free (I chose this one)?
So, any idea on what prevents the software "LGDP2_V36_UMTS.exe" enter my phone in Emergency Download mode?

Not true, I unknowingly flashed a StarHub ROM on my Optimus 7 before the 7720 ROMs were released. My phone was on 7.10.7720.68 and backtracked to to 7.0.7004. Microsoft stopped delivering old updates so i was temporarily stuck on 7008. Then i used ChevronWP7 updater to update to NoDo, then used the beta update to update to 7403, then got a notification for official StarHub update, followed by a LG software update, then a "family and friends" update to clear some crap, then the 7740 update. entire process took 10hrs.
---------- Post added at 12:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:11 AM ----------
Just install the modem driver then plug in your phone in emergency download (VOL-CAM-PWR) then if using Win Vista u will see "Installing driver device software" then click the balloon and see which COM port it is (e.g. LG Device (COM #21)) then choose THAT port and start. having the "Can't find monitor port!" warning is ok.

Best Firmware/ROM to Flash

I'm a noob to flashing a WP7 phone. I have an Android device so I already understand the natural procedure of it and the risks. I already read the flash guide for the Omnia 7. Now I ask: What is the best firmware to flash? And also the ROM? And do you have to get the ROM that matches the firmware first? Or does the ROM come with the firmware?
If u wanna try to use fully functional omnia 7 device, I8700XXKH2 will be solution.
Old versions of ROM(before I8700XXKH2) do not include latest device drivers.
But I8700XXKH2 is not official version and only for Samsung Engineer version.
I recommend that u should wait about 2weeks.
MS will provide it officially via Zune.

Your device does not support software upgrading via kies

Got Samsung Galaxy s2 onebay, instead of old one, that died.
When connecting to KIES i see this message " your device does not support software upgrading via kies"
I did search on forum and understood that it can be because phone was rooted, and that it is possible to put phone in un-rooted state
but i not really understood how
*#1234# gives me the following
PDA I9100TJIKJ1
PHONE I9100TJIKI2
CSC I9100TCELKJ1
Can anyone please help me proceed for un-root?
all i want it's to update to IceCreamSandwich firmware
thank you very much - hope for any advice, have read so many pages here - head going to explode soon!!!
You'll need to find that firmware and re flash with Odin. www.sammobile.com/firmware

Than flash the official GB .!
here i found firmware file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1221236
i ve read how to flash with odin
What is GB?
Is it any risks flashing with odin?
GB = Gingerbread. Which is somewhat irrelevant since you're seeking to go to ICS.
You appear to have an I9100T from the Middle East region. If I were you, I would go to www.sammobile.com and download an appropriate I9100T firmware from that region to flash. There is one ICS firmware for that model and region available.
And of course there are risks using Odin. If you don't know what you're doing, or use a firmware that isn't meant for your phone, you can easily brick your device.
i had the same problem a while ago. usually you need to sign into samfirmware site but try this link, it worked for me

download checkfus, put in your phone details, it will come up with the list of the latest firmwares to download straight to your desktop

This is because Your Csc (movinanad) is unknown.
Try this:
1.Backup your data.
2. Download this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&hl=en
3. Use the app to change your CSC (Movinanad) code to your country.
After this process, kies should work with your phone now.
Note: the process will factory reset your phone, so please backup first.

But recently KIES software in my laptop got updated and when I connected my S2 it stated that my phone is not compatible to update from KIES. But, the same day when I connected wifi in my phone I got a message that an update is available and its done successfully.
Now can any body help me to get that issue sorted out when connected to KIES as it accepted before and now why it is not accepting ??

Similar Issue
Hi there, I have a similar problem. I tried to root my phone, as I wanted to unlock it using a chainfire program, using a cnet program
I wasn’t sure which unsecure kernal to use, but i was told it didn’t matter if I was going to put a secure kernal back in, once rooted, problem is the root never properly worked, and when it would reboot I would get the samsung screen with yellow triangle and then it went black, so I tried getting to the stock using galaxys2root
but then got stuck in a boot loop, so I then had to do a factory reset through the recovery boot mode, which was fine and my phone is on, obviously all my data (apps and progress is gone) not a lot to be done there, but my OS is different, I had recently (about 2weeks ago) had an update, so when I pulled the task manager bar down, it would scroll as there were more than just 5 options to be quick clicked. also I was able to put my app menu in alphabetical order as well as little things like option to show battery % and different icon images, more defined and realistic, so basically I appear to be on an older OS but I am unable to update through my phone and kies as well, as it tells me my firmware is not supported for upgrade through kies.
I believed I was on a ICS version, though reading up about latest firmware there seems to be a later version, but apparently jelly bean? I had reason to believe JB was earlier than ICS, but maybe not? I am currently 4.0.3. If I recall I was 4.1 something though I am not 100%, but I know this OS is earlier.
Basically I miss my previous OS and dunno what more to do, extensive search is driving me brain dead, any help possible?
I also have found an accidental screenshot from my previous OS homepage and have taken a recent one just so you can see the smaller things I am describing, and hoping it helps. - can't post links yet in order to show you the exact pictures and webpages used.
Hope I am in the right place for this, also, I am not completely thick when it comes to technology and software either just better at computers haha.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Issues installing official Tango Rom from Verzion

Hi guys i'm trying to update my Trophy to the official Tango release and i'm getting error number
80180048
There was an error while trying to update your device with the latest software.
Please try again.
Cannot update to highest version.
I've tried everything trying to get the update and nothing seems to be working.
Any suggestions.
I've hard reset and soft reset the phone i've reinstalled Zune and i've called Verizon, HTC and Microsoft for a solution and none have been able to help.
Is your phone unlocked?
Using a custom ROM?
On official firmware, with NO modifications to anything?
You can't update with any modifications...
Tapin' the Talk on the HTC Trophy
I'm on Stock offical Verizon Mango update. I've got no modifications at all was never able to unlock the phone.
OS version 7.10.8107.79
Firmware version 2305.13.20402.605
it's the 16 gb version if that helps.

Did you try to unlock before? Maybe your bootloader is messed up?
Sorry in not much help... You could maybe download the NoDo flash and re-upgrade through Zune.

Thanks Peperm1nt nothing so far has worked. But thanks for trying.
How did you install 8107? Did you force install the updates, or Zune update? Or did your phone come with 8107? I had issues getting my test VZW Trophy to update completely over Zune. I say, take this opportunity to install HSPL so you can have custom unlocked roms, and wait for a nice official Tango release.
Or you can try the Microsoft troubleshooter.. which basically says for error 80180048 to download and install the Windows Phone Support Tools and run some stuff. Try it, maybe it will work...
Or, you can follow my guide to get the phone unlocked once and for-all and BREAK free.... although I gotta revise the guide for tethering stuff with the official updates (which you would want to setup BEFORE installing a custom unlocked custom rom).

It would be better if you post the threads links properly, yours got truncated.
If you have, as you claim, the Taiwanese Dual SIM model you should be able to follow the downgrade procedure from Oreo to Nougat. I did it multiple times.
You cannot extract RUU. It is specially prepared package that performs several upgrade operations separately. You can only make dump of already installed system but for that you do need an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery (TWRP) on both devices.

These are definitely the zips of stock ROM. But these are designed to take you forward and not backward (unless a specially designed package is pushed by the company). So, your only means to downgrade is via Nokia Care channels or paid downgrade services available online.

It is the same for all WW variants of the device. So, you can flash any WW firmware if your bootloader is unlocked. Otherwise it is not possible to flash on your own.

Hi mate, PM me if your bootloader is unlocked and I can go though the steps to downgrade to 8.1
I've been shown how to do it and its tried and tested & working well.
If your bootloader is locked, then search for the paid service to unlock it. He will also downgrade it at the same time.
Nokia X6 with Custom Oreo ROM - How to load stock Android Pie 6.1 plus image
Hi,
I bought a Nokia X6 in September 2018 (6GB/64GB) and would like to install the Stock Nokia 6.1 Plus Android 9 image.
I see my phone is rooted and it shows the message "Your device has loaded a different operating system." everytime I start it and I have to use Magisk to hide several banking applications.
The phone works great and I knew it was going to be relased in Europe eventually, but I am scared to brick it by loading the Android 9 Image.
I already tried attempting the update through OTA but the zip file is ignored. Nothing happens.
I am new to this forum so I don't know if my question has been asked by someone else.
Can you please help me?
Thank you!
- - - Since I am reading that Pie is not that good, I would be happy to stay with Oreo as long as I can use stock and unroot. Have you got any tips for it? ---

It won't need root to install a different official ROM. The flash tools for internal usage don't need root.
You can check the device's bootloader status using Fastboot commands. Make sure fastboot drivers are installed. Then put your Nokia in Download mode. After that use the following command:
fastboot oem device-info

You can check the device's bootloader status using Fastboot commands. Make sure fastboot drivers are installed. Then put your Nokia in Download mode. After that use the following command:
fastboot oem device-info

Thanks singhnsk
I downloaded ADB and fastboot, along with the latest Nokia X6 USB Drivers.
I am following the guide here : https://www.getdroidtips.com/nokia-6-1-plus-stock-firmware/#The_Advantage_ofStock_Firmware and I would like to avoid having the original X6 firmware (chinese) and use the 6.1 plus instead, but not sure which one.
Also, what is in your opinion the best XDA post I can follow for the upgrade? Is the one above ok? I just need to unroot my device and install the stock 6.1 Plus Oreo (or Pie if is getting better) making sure it will work with my Vodafone and Three UK Sim Card (which are working fine for now).
Thanks again

Actually, it depends on what condition your device is in right now. If the bootloader is unlocked (fastboot oem device-info), then you will be able to install the global firmware.
On the other hand if the device has a locked bootloader, then a tutorial alone won't help. You'll need to buy a remote flashing service to flash the global ROM onto the device. The flash tool needs to gain the flash permission from FIH servers to gain a temporary elevation to flash files to a locked bootloader.

Hi,
I followed this guide to go into fastboot mode: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-x6-2018/fastboot-mode/
When I do, I can only see "Download mode" on the top left and the big logo "powered by Android", that's it.
Is that correct or?
I allowed my bootloader to be unlocked, for the developer options, but I don't seem to find a way to boot in fastboot mode. I will try volume up + powerbutton shortly.

The download mode = fastboot mode. So, you reached the right place.
The developer option setting has no use on a Nokia phone. It just does nothing. But since you're seeing that option, your bootloader is most likely still locked. If you are on July or an older Android Security patch, then you can unlock the bootloader by buyng an unlock key. After that you can unlock it and then flash the global firmware.

Hi, yes I think so at this point. I am on May security patch and it does not show any new updates when I check. I am thinking to unroot it at this point and keep it with Android 8.1 unrooted, but I am not sure I will get the updates from Nokia.
What do you think?
Thanks for your reply and I hope all this information is useful to the other members of the forum.
Update: I just bought the unlock code and waiting for it. I will let you know how it goes.
Downgrade from Android 9 to Android 8
Hello!
I downloaded this file: https :// drive.google.com/uc?id=1BUR6xrbgbVlMQDyHz6oXZpmPrlRuFYgY&export=download
from this forum: http: // forum.gsmdevelopers.com/nokia-android-phones/72857-nokia-6-1-plus-ta-1083-exclusive-tasted-firmware-ch_sameer.html
and apparently it's possible to downgrade from Android 9 to Android 8. The file contains the OST LA program and the stock ROM for TA-1083 (DRG-237B-0-00WW-B05) in .nb0 format. The program asks for user and password, but I read somewhere that it's possible to patch it or edit it with Notepad++. I'm new to this and I don't know how to use the program.
Can someone more experienced test this method and report back, please?

You cannot crack/patch OST LA. The patched version will work on bootloader unlocked devices only. For the others, there's no way to flash without having the login to server with account.
