[Q] Connection Problems? - HD2 General

Hi I'm getting the USB Not Recognized / Malfunctioned error messages in Win7 Ultimate. My phone used to connect to my PC flawlessly.
I'm using the stock USB cable that came with the phone, I've tried for weeks now to get it to sync. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling WMDC, edited the permissions for some registry key related to it, I've even tried syncing with bluetooth. It will not work on any Win7 PC (I haven't got the opportunity to try any other OS's). Also it's not just the syncing issues, it wont even show up as a storage device in Windows Explorer.
I've exhausted all options, I've tried 2 usb cables (one from a car charger and the original one), I've tried changing connection mode from Activesync (enhanced on and off), Disk Drive and even Internet Sharing.
The only way the USB has worked is in bootloader was today during bootloader and in magldr 1.12 (USB Flasher and USB Mass Storage), at first I flashed a newer Energy GTX ROM and then WP7.
Zune does not detect the phone nor does Phone Developer Tools.
Please help, I need to get it working again!!
Thankyou.

Problems connecting to PC

I've had my Hima for some time and it has been left in my drawer uncharged. Having got it out and charged it up, it all seems to work except I can't connect it to my PC. Before it was left uncharged, it connected fine so I have no reason to thing the cable is u/s.
I have tried connecting it to my PC running Vista and XP, and also to my laptop running XP. My Uni and my Wallaby both connect fine, so I know it's not activesync/media centre causing issues.
I've tried formating storage ->
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
and have also tried playing with the KITL settings. Within KITL settings, If I select the USB and passive, the device resets, if I select active, nothing seems to happen except the device locks and I need to soft reset it again.
I've tried running mtty but it doesn't recognise that it is connected to the PC.
When in bootloader mode, the screen changes from SERIAL to USB when the cable is plugged in and it charges fine through the USB cable.
I have a 'simple' USB cable to the PC and I also have a cradle - neither allow the XDA II to connect to the PC. The PC recognises it as an unknown device but I can't get any further.
What else can I try?
Forgot to add, I'm running C Shekhar's WM6.1 - Win Mob 6.1 CE OS 5.2.19199, ROM 6.1.1b16CS, date 02/22/08

Problem with USB connections

Hi, I seem to be having some trouble trying to update to the latest 6.5 ROM. It says I have a "Error 260: USB Connection".
I also get the same error trying to flash to HardSPL, it says I should make sure it is synced, when it is. I also tried installing the "enablerapinew.cab", and another computer/another cable cord. All the same problems.
I think it may be because in my USB to PC menu, the option to "Enable Advanced Network Functionality" is ticked and grayed out. So I can't untick it.
I tried changing the driver in the registry to the USB Serial driver, but that didn't even sync.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hard reset if nothing else works.
Then you will know whether it is a hardware failure or software related.
I've seen anything from bent pins, lose USB on circuit board, bad cables, Vista vs XP....etc and the list goes on of possible causes for this issue.
Well it still charges and the phone still reads the storage card because i was able to flash it from the card but the computer will not recognize it as a USB device therefore activesync will not work and i cannot access the storage card when its in the phone
Reinstall ActiveSync...maybe...

Hi!
I have exactly the same problem.
Connecting the TD2 with my PC does not do anything.
Its the same issue with my 2nd PC and othe cables.
Charging works but no USB connection.
I think the USB connector on the Phone is broken.
I allready contacted HTC support but no response yet.
I will post again when ive got some news.

SD-Rom flashing
Hi ya all,
Try to flash it from your SD card, have a look here: http://www.tomlenferink.nl/component/content/article/1-latest-news/77-windows-mobile-65.html
Don't forget for Windows XP you need Active Sync and for Windows Vista and 7 you need Windows Mobile Device Center.

problems w/ Telstra T8285 - no USB Syncing, no wifi

I just purchased a Telstra Touch HD T8285 on eBay. Unfortunately, the seller did not disclose that he had flashed a new ROM (Dutty ROM) to it and that USB syncing and wifi do not work. I'd like to try and get this fixed on my own...otherwise I will have to try and get the seller to take the phone back and refund my money. I really like the phone so I just want it to work properly.
After much searching on here I discovered that I could flash directly from the flash card, thus bypassing the problem of USB syncing not working. I have tried a few ROMs (EnergyRom, Miri, Telstra updated direct from HTC) and neither wifi nor USB syncing works with any of them.
I have tried all the hints/suggestions about changing USB settings in activesync on both the phone and computer and nothing works. I cannot even get my computer to recognize the phone as a USB storage device (the phone just starts charging but activesync acts as though it's not even connected). When I go into bootloader mode on the phone it displays "serial" but never changes to USB.
Bootloader screen displays the following:
BLAC120 32M
SPL-1.56.Olinex
MicroP-Blackstone (LED) v6
From what I've read on here, I think I need to get a new version of SPL on my phone but I don't know how to do so without being able to use USB syncing. Is there any way to reflash SPL on my phone using the card flash method?
Someone please help!

It sounds more like you need to update your usb drivers by following this guide. Also ensure that you have enabled 'allow usb connections' in activesync connection settings.
Unfortunately you cannot change SPL without using your usb, so let me know if this works
unfortunately that guide to updating USB drivers does not work. When my phone is in bootloader mode the bottom only says "Serial". It never changes to "USB" so the computer does not even recognize that a device is connected.

Did you check that 'allow usb connections' was turn on in activesync connections settings?
Also when you update usb drivers you need to turn your pc off then on again.
Yes I made sure of that setting in ActiveSync.
Since my computer does not recognize my phone being connected, the "Windows CE USB Devices" is not listed in the Windows Device Manger. I have tried connecting my phone to 3 different computers (Windows XP and Windows 7) using different USB cables and still get nothing.
The closest I got was one time yesterday when I plugged my phone into the a/c adapter to charge, the USB window popped up on my phone asking whether I wanted to connect to ActiveSync, Storage Card, or Internet Sharing. That is the only time the window has ever opened and it wasn't even plugged into a computer.

I've tried that as well.
Basically, if it's been written here on the forum I've tried it. Each thread I've found where someone has had the same problem seemed to fade off and no one reported back (even those that fixed it).
Possibly a hardware problem with your usb port then which would require a warranty return unless anyone else has any suggestions
EDIT
Try flashing original stock rom, i.e. the one which was on the device originally when bought. This rom will still flash even if bootloader says 'serial'. This is the only rom that this works for. Unfortunately in your case you do not know what this rom was so a bit of guess work will be required going by date and location. Stock roms are available in wiki here and it'll just be trial and error

[Q] HTC Hero - No USB connection, but power, no other computer works

Hi Guys,
i have connected my Hero with different cables with different computers on different driver versions. It charges battery, but there is no USB conncetion. Yesterday it still worked. I think that this is maybe more a hardware fault as a software fault. ATM i don't have a microSD Card Reader so backup my data and USB Mounting doesn't work anymore.
I use FroydVillain 1.5 and i don't want to try to factory set, because on the last restores i just could restore per usb and not per recovery console.
Does anybody know about this problem or has a good idea?
After i switched off the phone and connected, my device manager on windows tells me unknown device and says an error code that device reported an errors and deactivated 'cause of that.
Michael
Install HTC Sync
Hi tried this already with 3 different versions of HTC Sync
Uninstall HTC Sync, use USBDeview to remove the usb drivers for your phone.
Restart
Check the drivers are removed with USBDeview again
Install the latest version of HTC Sync from HTC's website
Restart
Plug your phone in
N.B. If you're using a custom rom make sure you have "Unknown Sources" checked in your application settings & "USB Debugging" checked in Development settings. These settings might help though I think the second one is for adb access and the first is for installing apps from apk files. Worth a shot though.
