Where's the 2.1/ MR that was supposed to release today? (4/9/2010)

Has anybody heard any news if the "MR" is still coming out today?

I think its the SMS fix

damage referenced an update in a few weeks. im quite sure he knows the factual release date of 2.1, but cannot tell. if we know not to expect a major update from damage for a few weeks, we can assume itll be after the official update.
the mr is probably for the mms issues or something we read in that memo? idk...dont be expecting 2.1 though

The only update I'm looking out for is this one!

Yeah I wouldn't expect anything in the way of 2.1 just yet. When I had a blackberry they would literally release like 5 or more leaks before the actual update. We've had 2 so far that I know of.

I'm following the Sprint forums and they're saying 2.1 update will be out by the end of the day.

I learned not to count on anything when it comes to "release" dates for roms/upgrades. If something comes today, awesome. Otherwise whatever, I'm rather pleased with my 2.05

LOL Bastards!!! Its funny, I took the test and passed everything for the Rep position here in Rancho, but for some reason they never call me back. LOL They probably get scared when they see I worked for Verizon and at&t. LOL

the admins on the sprint forums already stated (many times) that the 9th was a date provided through false information. in other words, the mom people had pics of, was wrong.

I don't even think Dan Hesse knows when the update is, lol

Vince, different areas have different requirements, but I know that Verizon where I live will rarely hire someone with prior cell phone experience. They want to brainwash you with their ways and methods, for the most part. Not sure about AT&T, when I interviewed with them, I was so turned off to their practices, I pretty much told them I wasn't interested right then & there. Never expected a call back, nor did I want one. Going back to Sprint this week, so my sources will be in full effect, I'll see what tidbits I can get you guys.

Yea I figured as much. I did some consulting work for at&t a few years ago and I wasnt too fond of their practices either. Once I was finished there I bolted with a quickness.

Just called tmo again about the update

just called and asked about the 2.2 update she said we have no clue about the update. we are currently working on it with samsung but we have no date on when its going to be sent out to users .

You didn't necessarily get a clueless rep.
I work support for a software company and I am far from being a clueless support analyst for said company. Even if I did know the expected date of a release, I still will not let on that I know the exact date in case of unexpected delays. Unless there is a confirmed and published release date for anything, a service rep would be foolish to give you a confirmed date.

Pretty much what he said.
Any release have to come from an official announcement of the company and the staffs are NOT supposed to speculate even if they know it's confirmed. Some companies are pretty strict on this and you will get fired and sued if you leak the info.

The rep wasn't clueless. The OP asking the question and expecting an accurate reply is the clueless one.

We are all excited about the updates. I'm particularly wanting the GPS fixed, but PLEASE don't waste valuable resources asking for speculation from the friendly CSR reps. They are there to help people with problems. And guess who gets to pay the CSR's salaries? Yep, we do!

Guys, I just called T-Mobile about when CM6 was going to be available for Vibrant and they said they hadn't even heard of CM6. Oh noes?

I asked them when they are getting the i-phone. You know that I-phone. It has apps. I want it. The one with 32 gee-bees. The rep didn't know when it was coming out. I'm going to switch companies! What horrible service.

Samsung is still on 2.1, and you are asking about 3?
Remember, when you call customer care, you are calling billing support. They do troubleshooting and phone orders, but they follow flows for troubleshooting and look up articles, why on earth would they know that, I doubt even Samsung has a clue about when 3 would be offered. It sounds more like you called because you wanted to make someone feel dumb.

It's a waste of time to keep calling CS because most of the time we know more than they do about releases and dates.

I called T-Mobile and asked the CSR when my left nut would be parallel with my right nut. She didn't even know what I was talking about! I'm switching carriers. What horrible service.

JI6 Update and Froyo news

I just talked to a tmobile guy and he said that they are pushing the update out to 20,000 phones at a time and its taking awhile because they sold millions of vibrants.
Also he said that a samsung rep came in to their store today and told them that froyo is expected at the middle of next month.

Finally!!!!!! Actual hard facts. Thank you sooo much for the informat..... you know what? Prepare to get flamed son.

I think the date for froyo is about right because the JI6 update is going to till the end of the month.

What does at a time really mean? Per hour? Per day? At 20000 updates / day, it would take 50 days for the first million updates. My guess I'd that if your froyo date us right, they'd need to push out updates a lot faster. Otherwise people would be getting froyo before the incremental.

I think they push out 20,000 at a time but probably about 3-4 times a day or more. Also I think the update is regional

The point is not that anyone thinks you are "lying" about what you heard. The point is that there are countless posts across the Internet stating that Froyo is coming and when. And everyone has it on good authority from someone at Tmo or Samsung, etc. etc.
No one really cares about all the speculative estimates. It gets here when it gets here, period.
I can't tell you how many posts I've read where someone says, "My friend who works for Samsung says yada yada..." They have yet to be accurate. And even if they were based on fact the dates are subject to change. A good example is Samsung's estimate of a GPS fix coming in September for the Vibrant. They were 7 days late with that and Samsung posted that for the world to see!

The tmobile guy in my area said tmobile was getting the iphone this past june..... Another rep told me the hd2 was gonna be android... Dude, those reps dont know anything other than what u can read here. Trust me.

Why is Froyo in mid-November an unbelievable time frame? There's been numerous Froyo leaks for the generic Galaxy S, one for the Captivate, and a supposed e-mail between Samsung people that said Froyo was finishing testing. Mid-November makes sense. Do I expect it to be 100% in mid-November? No, but I woudn't be the least bit surprised if it was, it's not a crazy idea.

One of the reasons why is because samsung JUST released the JI6 update (which is still being distributed). If it were to be mid-november, they couldve just skipped the update (save the hassle & bandwidth cost) and went straight to froyo the next month. Don't get me wrong though, I would LOVE a mid-November (or sooner) release.

My dad works for tmobile and the rep told him that every vibrant owner will receive htc g2 for free. He also said that vibrant will receive gingerbread tomorrow night. And will recive android 4.0 on friday. See heres the thing

OTA Froyo is rolling out Now

I was told by a T-Mo rep that Froyo is being pushed out over the Air Starting on December 13th.
Has anyone got the update yet?
He told me that if I dont get it today to call back tomorrow and they will force my phone to get the Froyo update.

EI22 Quest

So we know that EI22 is out there, as it has appeared on a repaired phone. I just called a sprint store with a repair center in my area and was going to ask if they can flash the latest EI22 but I was on hold for longer than I can deal with right now. Maybe someone else would like to give it a try? Remember, you have to find a sprint store with a repair center, so that should be the first question you ask when they answer. The way I see it, one of those centers will be able to load EI22... and then someone here is gonna be able to dump and be the hero.

It would have to be a shop that actually has a repair center (not all of them do). And you would have to actually speak with a repair tech... the sales guys are idiots and wont give straight answers... simply because they are clueless but don't want to come across that way.

I used to be one of those "idiots" but I knew what was going on in the tech area. I'll ask a buddy of mine who's a tech and see if he knows anything.

Would it be beneficial to ask Lonny where he would have gotten his phone from? Perhaps if someone was in the same area, they could try that same store out?
Just throwing an idea out there...

Maybe they are putting it out on some refurbs and new phones as sort of a test to see if anyone calls CS with problems and then they'll OTA. I just got a refurb this past Saturday and it definitly didn't have GB on it.

Because it's fake!!!!!!! Why are people giving this guy any credibility? The release should be up to EJ by now. EC05 came out March 21st....16 days difference. So if we had an update coming it would definitely be from the beginnging of this month.

Seriously the guy needs to make a video of the phone booting up and then going into settings and showing the world what the phone says. Then it will be a little more believable I suppose. I mean he's been offered money for a system dump and hasn't done it. I'm sure he's reading XDA and knows what a contribution he could make to all of us if it's true but isn't doing anything.

I don't think that tactic of calling something a hoax ever works in terms of getting someone to do what you want. In your case, you are basically challenging him to engage the community again. I doubt that he will. I did a pretty thorough inspection for photoshopping and it would have to have been a job well done to pull off that pic. I don't think someone would waste their time hoaxing that.
The RDF is out there... that provides enough corroboration in my opinion.

While epic is a Galaxy S phone, it is not in the 9xxx class. Because our phone has the keyboard and CDMA it probably will be another super setback if ever.

Ok, back on topic... which was to call repair centers to see what they say. I called the one here and they said they don't have EI22 to load on it. He DID say that they are expecting it and that it should be out very soon. He followed that up though with the reality that Gingerbread was supposed to be out "very soon" quite some time ago.

Why are we still talking about this?
