[Q] Mouse cursor for Vega - Vega General

I've been using pauls usb host and I can connect a mouse but can't see any cursor. Is there any app or someting to show a cursor. Thanks

I get a cross hair mouse icon if I plug a mouse in. Are you sure the mouse is working properly?

Dont expect every mouse to work. I tried with several different ones, but only a few worked.. and then you have mice like apples mighty mouse, android doesnt have any idea how to work with those. If your mouse works properly you should see the icon as chrishudson said.

I know the mouse is working because it has a light which shines when I plug it in. It could just be that the mouse is not supported or something like that.

all that means is the mouse is taking "power" from the vega's usb doesn't mean the mouse is working and doesn't mean that its compatible with the vega.

I thought it would be that but thanks anyway

I think I saw someone on modaco say that they needed to have their mouse plugged into a USB adapter for it to work correctly .

I'm having the same issue, since the last update my usb mouse isnt working anymore. A few others have reported this over on modaco forums too. Hopefully there will be a fix soon

This appears to be due to the 1.08 and 1.09 based ROMs, 1.06.5 apparantly had an X cursor working... Is it something simple like the pointer image not being in the framework anymore? In 1.08 the mouse actually works, you can flick through homescreens/pull the notification bar down with it, you just can't see the pointer
Zeb

And what is the solution to this problem??? My mouse is registered and it is working, but no pointer appears.

Search the advent vega forum over at modaco someone has podted how to get mouse cursor back.
Hope this helps.

If you head over to vega - modaco - com. Search for "mouse cursor gone" and select the thread with that title there is post on it with a file that fixes this problem.

USB Mouse working on Advent Vega
I have an Advent Vega running Vegacomb and when I plug in a standard usb mouse it picks it up straight away and a cursor appears immediately. No problems whatsoever!

your a fool, if the light comes on that just means the mouse has power going to it. it may not indicate that its a functioning or supported mouse.
i have tried 3 different microsoft optical mice now, the small netbook one, the intellimouse and the larger version of it and they all work fine.

Why the insult.
How did you become a senior member? By leaving lots of insulting comments I assume.
I don't see the point of insulting members by calling them a fool just because they don't understand something.
By the way, it's you're not your.

USB Mouse. Where's my pointer?

Guys,
Just plugged in a USB mouse via the 4in1 socket. The device powers the mouse after a soft reset and I can use the scroll wheel to scroll.
Anyone know if there's a facility to enable a mouse pointer like on the Athena?
Cheers.
Hi waveydavey.
Did you mean Orbit?
I also want to know, USB keyboard works faultlessly

Oops. Yep, pretty much. What I meant to say is:-

Clear something up for me guys. With my T-Mo Ameo, i received the the mains charger, a USB cable, and a VGA out cable. Should there be another one for connecting USB devices? What is this 4 in 1 socket?
Hi,
It's an optional cable, which you can buy:
http://www.expansys.nl/p.aspx?i=145166
Thanks, I've ordered one.
Yep, I have one too. Hence the question.
I've tried USB Keyboard, Hard drive and Mouse. All seem to work, but I need a mouse pointer to see where the mouse is pointing obviously and I can't seem to find one.
Sorry for hijacking your thread Mr Wavey, as soon as my cable arrives I'll see if I can answer your question
Hi
I've tried the 4-1 cable and have also had no luck with the mouse pointer. Tried downloading the iGo Stowaway BT drivers but no luck. I think I will wait for expansys to get the new iGo BT mouse in stock in April (about £35) - they list the Advantage as being compatible. Unless anyone has any other ideas?
On a seperate note - I've managed to get VGA out working on my LCD TV through the PC input but have so far not had any look with sound. Ideally I would like to be able to plug in into my aux of my hifi but so far my cables don't seem to work?
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers
SPheler.....
I found application called sphelper, it was meant for smartphones to enable one to run. ppc software...and it gave an on screen cursor
www.bobsoft.com/sphelper
Shows a cursor....
I will try it, unplugging now
....
..
plugged in mouse, the mouse still works but its invisible and my cursor is in the middle of my screen
Oh well, I didnt have much hope. Just thought I might be lucky...
The search continues......
Problem solved
I have found a lurverly little tool discovered/created? by non other than Paul who runs www.modaco.com
http://www.modaco.com/Athena-Test-Mouse-Driver-t253431.html
Try this my brothers, it's nifty it is.
Remember to:
-Install cab file
-Soft reset device
-Only then, once you have seen the little screen pop up saying test mouse or something, plug in the adapter and the mouse.
I have found it works exceedingly well. The pointer can stutter slightly but I have not found it a problem at all.
Enjoy!
I don't really want to sign up with Modaco just to get the file.
Can you upload it here?
Good find, by the way....
I might get flamed but....
Custom built CAB based on http://www.geocities.jp/jsus_y/usbmouse/usbmouse.html
All props to Paul
Cheers for that.
The cursor disappears when screen is tapped
Cursor disappears when screen is taped. Need to unplug and plug before it comes back. So I sesist the temptation to tap the screen

Thanks for that Yarod....you're right, it works a treat!! I can live with the occasional stutter. The Athena is becoming ever closer to a Mobile PC.....just with a different more limited O/S but superb connectivity options.
Hello, had someone else testing this programm on a Ameo with German language?
I install it and get the massege "new USB Mouse" but nothing happens :-(
just click ok and plug in your mouse. remember not to plug in before soft reset. the language does not matter.
O.k. I do a soft reset, than i tapped on o.k. after this i plug in my mouse.... nothing happens.
Is there a special brand of mouse that works with this programm?
I would be so happy if it works

Support of wired HID Devices

I've found my Zpad running Zpad Clean 2.x supports wired USB mouse through its USB port (next to MicroSD slot), only point and right click works so far but not the wheel. Have not been able to get wired keyboard to work so far.
Neither blue tooth mouse nor keyboard get recognized on Zpad Clean 2.x. Gonna try CM6.1B4 and report back.

Wow, that's like the opposite of what I can do in TnT Lite... I have keyboard, but no mouse.
Is there a way to port the mouse services from the zPad or CM to the TnT Lite firmware? I have no idea what package or software in Android handles the mouse and cursor.
I think CM has Bluetooth hid supports but this is on Nexus One. Have to ask Bekit if his CM port supports this.
So I was playing around on CM 6.1b4 with a USB keyboard over my lunch break. I had called Viewsonic regarding HID devices previously - they said they'd been playing around with a cheap USB keyboard in their lab and had gotten it to work out of the box.
On my test, the keyboard (a stock dell USB keyboard) was detected and able to input keys into open text entry boxes. Problem I ran into was that the 'e' key opened email, 'b' opened the browser, 'l' opened the calendar, and so on. Have to look into whether these can be turned off when a USB keyboard is present.
Viewsonic said they weren't too enthusiastic about a USB mouse as there were no pointing device drivers. Not sure if someone folded something into CM 6.1... more as RC gets picked up for these devices, I guess.
Using zpad 2.2 i can use a usb hub and get mouse keyboard and usb flash drive to work simultaneously, but wheel on mouse does not fuction.

CM6.1B4 has both keyboard and mouse support. TNT lite sees my keyboard but not my mouse. IDK eventually it will all work.
SmartJoy USB to SNES adapter
It would be awesome to have support for this SmartJoy USB to SNES adapter I have.
These are working on my Zpad NVFlash 1202 so far:
1. Dell or Microsoft USB wired keyboards - Apple never works.
2. Wired Logitech mouse - point and click works but not mouse wheel scrolling
3. USB Memory stick - mounted as /sdcard/usbdisk1 or 2.
Using VEGAn beta 3, a Dell USB keyboard seemed to work fine in limited testing. Same goes for the basic Dell USB optical mouse. I didn't have a hub handy to try both at the same time...
I didn't spend much time with it as it was mostly out of curiosity.

USB Keyboard Support?

Picked up an A500 today after carefully reading through the documentation on Acer's support site as well as the user manual for mentions of USB keyboard support. It says implicitly that there IS support for USB keyboards (just not USB mice yet). However...I can't get a single USB keyboard to work (I've tried 3). Anyone tried this yet and gotten it working? I know the USB slot is working ok, because it reads a thumb drive just fine. Thanks!

I have had no problem with the one USB keyboard I've tried. It's a generic Apple clone from Deal Extreme.
No luck with Bluetooth keyboards though.
i could not get it to work with wireless USB keyboards but it did work with a dell USB keyboard.
it works with a logitech wireless keyboard
(I just realized that this is in the Dev section - mods, please move if needed!)
I tried a Dell keyboard, and it worked. One of the things I really hoped was going to work was the GTab case/usb keyboard combo ...the A500 fits perfectly in this case, even more snuggly than the GTab. I can't understand why it doesn't work.

USB keyboard
Got a case/stand for my vega for £20 of amazon which has a built in usb keyboard, tried it on the iconia works 100%
Actually I think having mouse support would be nicer, maybe in imminent 3.1 release.
KEyboard
I did not have a regular USB keyboard laying around so I tried a PS/2 using a PS/2 to USB adapter and worked perfect.

Just posted in the "Iconia A500 Accessories" forum... I tested the Logitech Cordless MediaBoard Pro for PS3 (bluetooth keybd) and it worked !
Something people may need to note: When I plug a keyboard in while the screen is off, or is locked, it does not work. If I first login, THEN plug in the keyboard (Logitech multimedia USB keyboard) it works great.
i tried some cheap micro keyboard+trackpad combo (about as wide as the tablet in landscape) & had issues. Only time it worked was when I was in the URL bar of the browser, "physical keyboard" showed as an input type option. Anywhere else it just sat plugged in. I may steal my dad's Mac BT keyboard since he doesn't use it. Will clash horribly though
I've got it running on a BT Keyboard/mouse device Works great... I've had issues with the headphones plug not stopping my music... (listen to Hard Rock at work and everyone hears it =(oops).. pull headphones and plug them back in... lots of really little niggles that need to be worked out... hopefully acer will find them all with the update next month!!!

Ohhhh! I've always wondered about that keyboard! Does the trackpad work? How's typing with that keypad?
Touch pad works great for pc and playstation 3... etc... but for the acer it does nothing... Arrows work to get from item to item typing works great... I believe an update will/can allow mouse...
FYI... this device comes with it's own bt usb adapter that is really weak however, when connected to a bluetooth device has decent distance.

How's the hardware? Solid? Connectivity in and out? And how easy/difficult was it to pair? I've read that a lot of these no-name devices don't come with specific instructions on pairing.

Pairing was as simple (on my samsung epic) as searching for devices.
1. push the bluetooth button till the light blinks
2. Search for devices
3. type in a passcode on phone/device
4. type that passcode on the keyboard
I think this is how it was done... worked really well first time to my epic... easily connected on my a500 too. I love the keyboad it works with my entertainment pc that has sagetv on it so controlling the 47" from the couch is awesome.
edit: Hardware is really solid and the bt usb device slides into the keyboard... really convenient
I managed to pair with my Apple wireless KB but no love for typing.

Mouse cursor working in 2.3.4 (ATT 4.5.91) !

I just discovered this and wanted to share. I couln'd find another thread mention it.
So.. Before flashing to 4.5.91 I used to connect generic powered USB hub via OTG adapter (sku 50774 at Dealextreme) and HDMI to my Atrix. To hub I connect regular USB mouse and keyboard. That was fine for webtop. But mouse in Atrix' screen (not webtop) was useless.
This time I connected it out of curiosity to see if webtop works well, since I'm on custom ROM. It didn't work. But at my big surprise, there appeared mouse cursor on Atrix' screen. It plays really well. You can use it just like you are used to with regular mouse cursor. Left click to select/activate/grab/drag, middle click acts as menu button, and right click as back button.
Cheers..

I noticed the same thing a while back but just assumed it was a (well-known) gingerbread thing. I've never before had the privilege of an android on 2.3. I'm sure this thread will surprise and help some people like ourselves! Thanks

Bluetooth too
For more convenience pair with bluetooth mouse.
Scrolling works nice too.
F*** YES! When I bought this phone I tried getting a mouse cursor so badly in froyo w/out the dock, and now that I have the dock I wasn't thinking about it, but awesome I love powerusing my atrix with a bluetooth travel mouse! Thank you so much op!! Moving outta froyo ASAP!
I'm still not sure why it didn't have mouse support to begin with. My Dell Streak had mouse support out of the box.
I had a mouse cursor appear a few times on my Nexus S.

Note + BT Mouse & Keyboard

Hi, I have some problems connect my keyboard and mouse to my note.
I have Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5000 mouse and keyboard
It works fine with my Chinese tablet, but when i connect it to my phone it comes up as keyboard connected and mouse connected but nothing works. No error or anything cursor does not come up.
I saw one thread that says it worked for someone but it does not come up for me.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction ? What am i doing wrong ?
Thanks
Noone tried this yet ?
I used my MS 500 BT Mouse and my HP TouchPad BT Keyboard. Worked beautifully. The mouse curser cam up and the keyboard worked great with no lag.
My keyboard and mouse is one dongle so maybe that is why it does not work. Has anyone tried this exact setup ?
My guess is that dongle connected mouse+keyboard combos are not fully supported because they usually need specific drivers. I have a feeling I read it somewhere around these forums. There might be some exceptions but on Android it's recommended to connect BT HID compliant devices only.
Does anybody have a apple bluetooth keyboard on hand to test it with ?? (a friend of mine use mine) tx
