Droid 2 Global for an Droid X? - Droid X General

Trying to decide if i should exchange my D2G for an Droid x or even an Incredible...
Wanted some input from ya'll in here to see what you think is the best route?
Returning the Global cause I rarely used the hard keyboard and the extra bulk was annoying

I haven't tried the droid 2 but I have the droid x
So far I have really loved this phone. 4.3 inch screen is awesome, the processor is great, and the camera and hdmi is just fantastic. I did have issues with the first phone I received, the camera didn't take as good quality as I thought it should. Now that the X has a rom called Liberty it is even that much more awesome.

I have processed my exchange for a Droid X. Looking forward to it!

Should of waited for the bionic. Tis tis tis but the x is cool just wait until some underground hacker unlocks the bootloader man that will be the day.

I am trying to make the decision of which one to get at the moment, Droid 2G or the Droid X. Is there any reason to think one phone is more solid than the other?

I love my DX. I came from an iPhone and will never look back unless iOS changing a few things. If you pick the DX you will love it. HTC does make great phones but the size of this screen makes other things feel obsolete

Thought you all might enjoy this... looks pretty nice, but they still include the locked bootloader. Anyone willing to deal with that again or will you condemn moto to the way of the razr? Personally, unless blur is MUCH improved they won't be getting any more of my money. /end rant

Thicker, no FFC, no 4G no thanks.
No 4G won't even touch it, whats the point.
Locked boot = at the mercy of motorola regarding updates
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Frankly, screw Motorola. I like my Droid X, but the whole bootloader issue is guaranteeing I will never buy another device from them until/unless they change their ways.
I will never buy another Moto product with a locked bootloader...
Will go with htc next time... Just because of what they've been able to do with the evos UI, things we will never see on the droidx like MIUI,.and Myns warm rom looks pretty sweet.

I have several friends with the droid x and have rooted many of them. I wouldn't trade my evo for one///ever.
I rooted mine and all that good stuff it wasn't hard at all. Is the evo eaisier and does it have a better screen????

They are similar in specs. You should play with the Evo at a Sprint store. Most have it on display now.
Well Evo seems easier to root with unrevoked and screen is almost the same, I hate hump in the back of the droid tho, and I got tired of motorola phones (bad speakers in most the I owned ) so I stick with the Evo and HTC if you want veruzon you should wait for the thunderbolt.or incredible s to come out , thunderbolt is an Evo redesing with new sense and inc s is almost the same just smaller

Does it have a locked bootloader??? My guess is no

Verizon has been ripping me off for the last six months and im sick of it. And im sick of Motorola locking there bootloaders. Is sprint getting any new htc phoned similar to the evo???
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The specs are pretty much the same.
So in my opinion:
form factor: I like the evo. It's nice, slick, flat and sexy. The droid x has that awful bump on the back and is hideous. Winner: Evo
UI: Motoblur's happenings widget is badass, but HTC Sense is faster, better looking and more usable. The widgets are nice and don't slow the system down. Winner: Evo
Root: Don't know Droid X root method, but the Evo was by far the easiest root I've ever gotten (coming from the MyTouch Slide and the G2). Winner: Evo
Roms/dev support: We got CM, which means we have THE BEST AOSP roms on earth. We've got half a dozen fantastic sense UI roms (Myn, MikFroYo, Konikub's Elite, etc) and they're always updated and supported. Plus, a bunch of themes. Winner: Evo
I'd get an Evo, but you should try one out at the store before making a decision. Some people really like their Droids.

No. They are probably waiting for a killer device - The Echo
I love my droid!!! I don't love paying 150 bucks a month for locked a boot loader and no front facing camera. Is there a one click root for the evo or is it all about downloading drivers and that nonsense???

Oh yeh are you guys getting 2.3 ota??. Or you guys just using 2.3 roms like us folks with dx's??

You have to download the HTC drivers, Android SDK (which any rooted android user should already have) and UnRevoked. Then open unrevoked and root. All done. There's an FAQ around here somewhere...
Thanks for your help and opinions fellow android users

Droid x vs fascinate

I was wondering. Should I switch from droid x to samsung fascinate? I've had the vibrant. I liked it. Just wondering if it's worth getting.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Having recently picked up a DX on craigslist just to see what all the hype is about, I can say that I think the Fascinate is the better phone. Also, I think dev wise we have the edge. Plus it's more comfortable to hold than the X. I haven't really played with gingerbread on the X though, but I'm hoping we'll have that fully working soon anyway.
Back on C-list for the X!
Fascinate is better. Camera is better, screen display is better, performance is better, battery life also better too

I personally like the fascinate better.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
After shopping for phones last year and comparing the two i picked the SF because it was thinner ( didnt have that buldge) and the screen was brighter and sharper.
I like the DX better, The fascinate might win spec wise, but the DX isn't Samsung so it will actually receive updates. I also the the DX has a better feel.

So the only 'pro' you gave was that the droid x receives updates? How does that make it better? lol.
I was wondering if it's worth 200. Some girl wants to sell it.

Check vzw.com for refurbished fascinates. Don't know if it required a new contract, etc. but it was 50 bucks or so.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I just traded my x for this fascinate. I like both, sf has a killer screen. Droid x is a beast I had ginger on it and it was way fast. I like trying new things. I personally think the battery life is better on the x. They are both great phones. As far as updates go. You can find many roms that will fit your needs thanks to our great devs!

Get the Fascinate ....I switched from a D2 (same as X but with a keyboard) cuz of the locked bootloader ...ROMs for the D2/X are ok ...but you're always gonna base them off Blur and never truly have a Vanilla rom ...plus the vibrant has a better display its super light compared to both batt life is amazing ....oh and another thing MiUi ^_^

Going to the Droid x

My Dad got me the HTC evo at the beginning of the year but now me and him want data (we were flashed to pageplus but data didn't work on them). So my question is what is the best. rom, kernal, ect for the Droid x. I just want to be ready when I get the Droid x and messing arround for days trying to get the best combination or roms and kernals.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well.
Good luck with that.
We have a locked bootloader, kid. The kernels we're provided are the kernels we get.
But as far as ROMS go...
I like Liberty. Both the froyo and gingerbread versions are great.
I haven't really played with the others...for...like 5 months.
So maybe they're holding ground too, but I wouldn't know.
Apex 2.0 is talked about a lot.
Zombie Stomped
Fission
P.S.
You're switching carriers and picking up a Droid X?
I assume you're going to lock yourself into a 2 year contract?
Not to be rude...and nothing against the X...
But this phone will be a year old in July.
The X2 is already out, actually.
I'd get something top-of-the-line for the extra $50 if you're going to be stuck with it for two years.
No my dad buys them off of craigslist. And the evo wont get 4g service but my dad got the x and it works great
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
My advice is to influence your father to make the better choice and go for the newer device. From the purely economic point of view, buying a year old phone now results in an increased likelyhood of failure or desire for a newer phone in the two years of your contract, buying the new phone now means you are more able to make it two years without being left behind.

I have the evo now its like a year old now and I'm not going to Verizon I'm getting the Droid x because 4g works on it with the network we have but the evo doesn't

I'm upgrading tonight. HELP!

I'm upgrading tonight and finally ditching the Droid X. I'm either getting the HTC Rezound or the Droid Razr Maxx. Both have tons of pros and cons. I need your opinions. Please help!

Maxx from a prior owner of one should of never got rid of that thing
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Have you tried the rezound as well?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
Yes from a friend
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
I went from a Droid X to a Razr Maxx... what a great phone. I can't say enough good things about it.
Is it easy to root the maxx? Or has Motorola made it a pain in the ass to deal with the bootloader?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA
I haven't used either, but from a pure hardware POV, the Rezound dominates. Dual core clocked at 1.5, better screen PPI IIRC, dual LED flash, better FFC, plus the unlockable boot loader allowing for a much larger, more active dev community. If it hasn't received official ICS yet, I believe some leaked ROMs are out there and like the Razr, it's going to get official ICS sooner rather than later.
If you're looking to rom and tweak the Rezound would probably be the better bet.
But if you're just looking for great battery life and a solid stock software build, go with the Razr Maxx.
Or you could always get a Galaxy Nexus.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I am on Verizon - the only reason I would like to root is to avoid the tether fee... would like to occasionally hook up my laptop or android tablet through the WiFi... like a large screen... Thanks - Dan
If the Razr is at all like the D3 (and newer Moto phones IIRC), tethering is blocked and even the apps don't work without first manually rewriting the radio's hex signatures. The Rezound can most likely take custom kernels and thus have native tethering.
