Well i'm trying to sideload apps but it's so slowwww, it takes me like 30 minutes to sync a 18mb app, are you guys experiencing the same?
Same thing with zune sync, it's very very very slow, like 10 songs synced in 5 minutes.
Confirmed, sideloading and syncing are very slow (eu hd2 and win7 32bit)

XAP deploy is VERY slow! the interesting part is: I used a normal 2GB SD Card before(not SDHC, Class ?), things r much better with that card, very fast sideload. Now i'm using a 16GB Class 4 SDHC and it's horriblely slow like dead.

Happy new year guys. I bought two microsd cards. One is a PQI 2GB microSD card for flashing. Another one is a Ridata 4GB microSDHC card for everyday stuff, with a speed class of 6. I don't know the class of the PQI.
I noticed that when copying files from the pc, or when just copy pasting files within the Hermes, the writing speed is very slow. For both cards, the PQI and Ritek, they're around 400 kB/s to 600 kB/s. I used both WM5torage and activesync and they're both this slow. Even for a class 2 card, such speeds are slow. I RMAed the PQI one due to CRC errors when copying. The Ridata has no errors but is still very slow.
I searched the forums and installed the SD tuneup.cab file, restarted the Hermes and its still the same writing speed, around 400kB/s. I used the microsdhc in a card reader in a pc and it writes at 6 MB/s. What could be wrong, why such a writing speed difference? I have red about posters with writing speeds as much as 9MB/s with their phones in the Hermes accessories forum.
The specs of my phone are:
Cingular 8525 Hermes 100
PDACornerPro.V27
Radio 1.56
HardSPL v7
Ridata 4GB microsdhc class 6

Mate, join the club... I don't really believe that when connected through activesync you will get very fast speed copying. Its ALWAYS been slow as a stoned snail when copying through the phone. sd card readers move like lightening in comparison.

You mean from the very start till now, the Hermes really writes slowly? But some people on the Hermes accessories forum have write speeds up to 9MB/s. Maybe there is a fix/tweak somewhere I don't know about and still not able to find through searching? Any ideas? Thanks.
I've never found it. Most threads I've read about this issue are lamenting the fact it has such a slow read/write speed when connected through activesync.
I generally backup and transfer files through an sd card reader.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll just use a card reader to save time. But those folks at "What brand SDHC card is everyone using?" thread have speeds up to 9MB/s when writing. Aren't they using the Hermes? Or they're using a card reader?
Probably a card reader. They may also be talking about when transfering files to/from sd card when using the Hermes's own file manager as that is fairly fast. I use a class 6 8Gb card for reading Tomtom maps and there is no lag, had a bit previously with a 2Gb card.
I believe the hangup is in microsoft's active sync program. No0t sure about those using vista's own transfer app.

Actually, Activesync can be fast.
Activesync on an XP machine copying to my Herm100 is quite slow, a card reader is much better, but the same Activesync copied to the latest HTC (don't know the model) slidey keyboard phone's internal memory in comparatively lightening speed.
So is there different configurations or drivers for the USB connections on our phones and/or ROMS ?

Maybe something in the hardware of the newer phones because if it was software, since the chefs use the ported os of the later devices, we should also be getting better speeds if we had updated the OS. I'm currently using build 21109 and I haven't noticed a speed increases...
Thanks for the replies guys. I think its really the hardware of the Hermes that is slow. I bought a cheap $1 card reader and its very fast compared to the Hermes' own card reader. I used Sisoftware sandra to bench my cards. My RMAed 2GB PQI card writes at around 6.5 MB/s while my Ridata 4GB card writes at around 5.4 MB/s. What a difference a dollar makes

I have no problems running a cheap 8gb micro-sd from a no-name brand in my HTC P4350,
However, mine does feel a bit slower (yes its possible), since the upgrade from a 2gb card.
Ive been using a 8GB for about 6 months now and havent had ANYproblems with it. I actually had more problems with my old 1GB. It runs perfect!
i have the 8 gb card from amazon and i used it in my shadow and now my wing, its awesome, i keep all my phone supplies there and music, movies, vids, ebooks...keeps on going, lol its worth it, will be looking into the 16 gb soon just to be able to have an even bigger collection for on the go

i've been using a 8gb card from kingston, don't pack it too full or else your phone will lag, i use it for mostly music and i find that when i fill it up all the way it gets a little corrupted
looking @ buy.com for the 16gb cards, 40 bucks...just needs to drop a little moer....
i got a sandisk 8gb loaded with movies, mp3s, ebooks basically everything and it runs smooth

ok..sorry for disturbing the hype, but I need to post this:
I upgraded from 1 to 2 GB and now to 8gb..since then I encoutered issues:
First I copy and pasted everything from my 2gb card onto my 8gb SDHC class 2 card and everything run smoothly..but after some days I realised that all my pivtures I took were gone..than I saw that all folder were weired named--re-named...BUT it changed again and besides that the pixx were gone, all run ok again..
but now..since Yesterday..it is the same..folders re-named..pixx gone and my display says please insert storage-card, but it is included AND I can see the content via file explorer or active sync...its the same with the 2gb card..displays shows the "please insert screen" but I can access via onboard file explorer (fyi all folders are ok..not renamed on the 2gb card)
My idea is, that my simply copy and paste from 2gb to 8gb card was not the proper way to do it..or??
Can someone suggest how to manage this? I have no card reader and I havent found a way to format the 8gb card..to do the copy paste or whatever again..
Any ideas are appreciated!

Did you try right-clicking on the storage card and re-formating it to deault thats what i had to do when i had that problem and havent had a problem since if that doesnt work then you will need to find a cheap usb card reader online....... and if that doesnt help let me know and i might have another solution to help you re-format it
hey phaze, right click within active sync does not allow "format" ..so i tought as well of the card reader thing..or where could I be able to use right click-format option?

I think a Class 6 Card on the HD2 should be fast enough for it...
A card with 'Class 2' spec is similar to a card with a 'SD 2.0' spec
Is your card an original SanDisk card? Try backing up your files, then
reformat the card and see how it goes.
On my HD, a Class 2, and a Class 6 card (both Sandisk) works fine, so it should
be the same for your HD2 (tried a friend's while waiting for mine).

Format the card on the phone on which you intend to use it, it's best not to use a PC for this.

If the card specs are as above, the real questions to ask is what player are you using? and what size is the music library. Because if the first answer is Coreplayer, and the second is over 6Gb; then i would suggest you check the settings and disable the 'enable Library' settings
just got my 8gb transcend class 6 card and formatted it with my phone and put my data back on it. is there a benchmark tool to test it's speed?
and somehow rsshub didn't show my channels after I changed the card, I copied the data from the old card but rsshub seems to be back to factory settings, why?

just tested my Transcend 8GB microSDHC Class 6 card with SKTools Lite and it says 2MB/s write and 8MB/s read. that's kind of slow isn't it?

I am using a Sandisk 16GB Class 2 : Works perfectly well
Also using a Generic (play.com) class 2 16GB and it works a treat. I watch xvid encoded TV shows and movies from it using Coreplayer and it works great.

I have a Sandisk 16GB Class 2 MicroSD card in my HTC HD2. Tried 350 songs stored on my memory card, and while in the Music Tab waiting for the library to be updated, HTC Sense/TouchFlo restarts itself over and over again. I don't think the Music Player in HTC Sense is that great.
I'm using Conduits Pocket Player for music and it works great. Just disable the Music Tab and HTC Sense should not crash if you accidently select that tab.
Using a 1.43 ROM by the way.
every time I connect my hd2 to my computer and after disconnecting it I can't access any of my music via the music player. it just does nothing, the library is empty and when I switch to landscape mode it says "no music found".
the only way to get it working is to reset.but that can't be it, what's wrong here?
I get the same - if I connect via USB as a mass storage device and then disconnect, I can't access my music library any more. Sometimes even a soft reset doesn't bring it back. Its really annoying! Best to use activesync I suppose but I use Linux quite a bit and it isn't an option.
No Memory Card access after a sync
I have the same problem - but I use Active Sync. I have only just figured out that the sync with my PC has been causing the problem.
Here is what has been happening.
If I DON'T sync with my PC - I can go for weeks with no resets and full access to all data and apps on my Micro SD.
As soon as I sync (via Active Sync - under XP) - the next time I want to run an app from my Micro SD - the HTC tells me it can't find it. My workaround has been to pull the cover off and eject then re-insert the SD (solves it 100% of the time) ... but I would love to know what is required to prevent this problem.
To test the above - I have just gone two weeks without the problem occurring even once (I was away and did not use active sync at all ... although I did use a laptop daily with the HTC connected ... but only as an internet sharing device NOT in any kind of sync mode). Now that I am back home - the first sync has resulted in the same of problem re-occurring.
Has anyone found the cause of this??

I'm new to the site after just upgrading to the HTC HD2. Great site for a source of info.
I had a similar problem after transferring the files to the phone. Sometimes the files would show after transfer sometimes not. When I updated libary in the media player I was able to view all the files. I hope this helps, if you haven't tried already.
I'm also waiting for the 32GB card, but unable to find any info regarding the release date. Any news?
JFYI...I have a Sandisk 16 GB Mobile Ultra sd card. I don't know what class it is. I am pretty sure it is a class 6 card.
When I play music from that card, through my Motorola 305 BT headset, it skips a lot.
I moved the music to the internal card, and no skipping.
I don't know if getting a class 10 would help or not.
I'm interested in what others are experiencing.
I just downloaded SD Test, and tested speed of my card. This is how it came in:
Write Speed: 8.04 MB/s
Read Speed: 16.9 MB/s
Seems to me that should be fast enough to play music.
Not sure why it skips when playing via BT. I may try putting music back, and playing via BT through my car, and see if it does it there too. (I know it did on my old phone).

30 MB what? Saying it is a 30MB card means nothing.
That one in the link is a class 6 probably cause the write speed doesn't do 8 MB/sec consistently enough for Sandisk to classify it as a class 8.
Read speeds mean nothing in the card classification.

I have a problem playing youtube videos on HQ on my HTC HD2 Pdaimatejam. When i play video it doesn`t go smooth,plays for 3-4sec. then freeze for one sec. (meanwhile the music goes).Please help me,i really like how windows 7.8 works on my phone.Thank you
maybe your SDcard is slow... SD card is used as phone memory and if working slow can cause problems with video and sound....
download WP Bench from store and test storage memory speed....

whether these results are good? I have MicroSD class 10 inisde.I tried all youtube apps. non of them work well
important is storage speed... no mater which app you use if memory cant go faster... also if you put more data in memory card work slower and slower... also with dual boot, card work much slower....
i have Sandisk class2 32GB card and on my (or not my because sold it ) storage speed was around 8-9 MB/s and dont have any problems with videos...
in most cases, SDcards with lower class (class 2 and 4) work better and faster than higher class cards... people think higher class work faster but in reality higher class not very supported in WP7....
also you can try flash other version of this ROM or ROM from other developer and test how your SDcard work with this ROM... maybe you find one which work better with your SDcard
