[Q] Telus Hidden Menus - Fascinate General

Just to start. Yes I have exhausted my search before asking. I am looking to improve call quality by switching to EVRC B. However using
Tried: **772
SPC code 000000
The bottom of the screen will have buttons that are directional like a d-pad.
Tried: Go into the Dialer and enter *#83786633 then press the Home key
Go back into the phone dialer and enter *#22745927
Now a box will come up asking for the SPC code. Enter 000000
Press the Hidden menu Enable radio button.
I am erasing the first entry before entering the second and im not pressing send..... the spc box never pops up for either
However I can get into testing and long shut down button enabled menus, however I can't get into gps testing (mine works fine) or others.
All I want is to switch to evrc b and volume controls to see if it helps. There has to be a difference between the verizon and telus code dialers.
Any help is much appreciated!, love the phone, but it should be a phone first everything else second not the other way around.
Phone is a telus fascinate, not rooted.

no one on telus?

Are you on 2.2? I noticed that on 2.2 some of the "secret codes" don't seem to work and just give you a blank screen. However try installing SGS Tools. The dev pulled the app from the market because he doesn't have time to fix all the bugs, but the secret codes when launched from this app work for on my phone. You can get the last version on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775154

I am on 2.2, I can access some codes but not all I can never get the spc box to pop up but let me try this! I was starting to get frustrated.
non rooted I must add

Well, unless im missing something there is no vocoder option. I have been able to get into most this stuff using codes but not vocoder

How do I enter SIM unlock code?

Hi,
I have SIM unlock code and have weird issue that input box for SIM unlock does not provide any means for actually entering information. Box comes up as expected but initially keyboard is not shown. So basically empty screen with just input field. I have to click Windows button and go to settings to bring keyboard icon available on titlebar and even that one looks weird (you can see it in video below) left and right parts are white out.
After I enter my code into input field I press Enter button and nothing happens.
Any ideas?

Can i explore phone without activating first?

Hey guys
Just received my Incredible finally, was wondering if I can mess with the phone without activating it first.
It starts with a setup phone thingy, and 2nd option is to activate, but no option to not. any ideas?
I really wanna mess with phone b4 I activate it, as I use my old phone (omnia) to get online still whilst I was testing the phone defaults....
Is there like a way I can skip the setup for now, and come back to it later?
Thanks
I was having trouble with activation on my phone, and after a few failed attempts it let me through to the next step. Try starting activation and hanging up a few times and see if that works. Then to get back you can just dial the activation number, which is *228 I think (you should probably check first, don't quote me on that).
Yes, you can play around with the phone before you activate it, I did it with both my Eris & Droid. When you are on the activation screen(the one with the Droid on it) just press down on all 4 corners starting with the top left. Do a google search, there are a few guides with pics that show exactly where to press.
I was able to explore the phone by hitting the search button, and jumping to settings, or the internet. I dont think it let me to the homescreen like that though.
i'm familure with the android screen and skip method with four corners, i do not recall being able to get to that screen on the htc inc, i belive the actvation was chagned, you can bypass it thou, do the emergence call button then enter the code for manual programing and programm nam1 cdma info with fake number like 000-000-0000 then commit the change and it will restart and go to the homescreen but the phone wont work of corse, and you can view all the menus, *tada*
edit: i believe the code i used was ##778 > call > service password is "000000"

[Q] Unable to enter MSL in dialer since 2.2 prelim update?

Ever since flashing the rooted 2.2 update, I can't enter an MSL when I use a dialer code like ##DATA#. It recognizes the code and gives me the View / Edit choices, but when I select Edit, the keypad isn't active and I can't type in the MSL.
I know there was a different Froyo issue with non-Sense ROMs not recognizing the code in the first place, but that's not this.
I really need to put my tweaks back in for 4G, but can't. I won't get too worked up about this till I try it with the final build, whenever the rooted version of that hits.
Anybody else seeing this, or is it just me?

I have the unrooted version and have no issues. Did you tap on the input box? Sometimes you have to tap on the box to bring up the keyboard. If that doesn't work, press and hold menu. That's the keyboard shortcut in Android. Other than that, did you uninstall any built in apps? That could possibly cause a problem, depending on what you took off.
Got it!

Ah - got it.
The problem was, it was putting up a "helpful hint" that said something like "tap the Back-Arrow to close the keyboard". That little dialog had input focus, not the keypad. I had to click the X button on that to get focus to the keypad. It wasn't there in 2.1 so I wasn't used to having to dismiss it.
It doesn't show up now - I guess it was a 1-time hint.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Totally wasn't paying attention when I did it Friday night to fix my 4G. Glad I could help.

Diagnosis App

Anyone have a "Diagnosis" app on their phone? I picked up my phone on Monday. Brought it home to show my wife and, quite unexpectedly, she said, "I want one." So, I went back to the store Tuesday night and picked up one for her. As I helped her get things set up on it I noticed that she has a "Diagnosis" app on it. I do not have that app on my phone.
It basically shows a large keypad that takes up most of the screen and that's it.
Anyone know what this is and/or what it's used for?
UPDATE
I did some more searching around and found out that if you dial ##634# and press call then it launches the Diagnosis app. Once you've done this once it then appears in your applications list. Now, if I could only figure out what to do with it...
UPDATE #2
Found information on another forum that if you key in *#1234# into the diagnosis app it will bring up information about the phone including the MAC Address of your bluetooth hardware and your wi-fi hardware. Pretty cool. What else can this little tool do???
Thanks,
McP
Do you know any other codes?
This application also exists on the Omnia 7 (no surprise), and I found these codes work too:
*#2*# - Battery Diagnostics
*#3*# - Brightness Test
Also not mentioned here is the LCD Test - *#0*# and the USB Settings - *#7284# which also allows tethering.
I just did *#0011# and it entered into a new test mode and showed temp, etc with a numberpad on the bottom.
And of course the all important *#7284#
*#2580# goes into test mode
*#0987# multi touch test
hmm tracks up to 4 points did not know that
*#1111# Test mode Read FTA SW version
*#2222# Test mode Read FTA HW version
*#777# Result : Operation (99): Vphone 777 done!
Anyone wanting to explore the diagnostics screens should be very wary. I'm now having major accelerometer issues on my Omnia 7. Contents are now being displayed in landscape mode and it is not auto rotating to potrait mode even when you turn the phone over.......anyone else having these issues?
I also am suffering this horrible affliction. I'm Stuck in landscape mode in browser, search, and text.messaging. All pictures I take with camera save upside down too.
I did a hardrest within phone and with vol down/power/camera. Neither fixed the issue. It must be a firmware issue. Since I'll be returning it later today Ill tryto find a factory default for it in the *#2580# menu. If u enter that menu and hit back, there are tons of options and info, test, readings, settings.
**EDIT** In the *#0*# (LCD TEST) menu there is acceleramitor test option. Once in it there is a button that states [CAL] I assume it means calibration, I decided to go ahead and press it and if the picture displayed on screen is facing the correct way (based on how the phone is held) when pressed a message comes up (True) if not facing the proper way it states (False). In this test state the picture does turn all directions at first, then it wants to stay either upside down for portrait, or facing to the right for landscape. I have not had any luck getting it back to normal.
**EDIT2** I called my AT&T they are going to do a full exchange for mine, they told me to bring everything for full replacement. No questions asked after I told them the screen wouldnt rotate. I'm done tinkering with the Diagnosis app.
**EDIT2** My new Focus has a different Hardware Revision # then the one I returned. The one I returned was made 11/1/10 in Korea HR# was 3.1.0.5. My new replacement was manufactured on 11/8/10 in Korea and HR# is 3.1.0.7 .
Where did you find the Hardware Revision #?
nvrmind i see the code above..
Someone has posted a list of codes here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=839154
Might be worth posting all these ones in that thread and get the OP to update the list in post #1...I can maybe sticky it if the list grows

It's starting to look like it might also be worth documentating those that will trash your phone permanently or at least semi-permanently. Diagnostics that kill your phone aren't diagnostics.

Diagnosis..

Found a Diagnosis screen using the old ##634# code.
When I type ##634# on my DVP I go a screen.. and lose the keyboard.
BTW on the DVP.. before you go to the screen "The Matrix" flashes..
How do I input the other codes then?
Also When going through a Customer Interface Test.. it turned on the LED and held it on.. anyway that can be turned into a Dell specific flashlight app, like the one the HTC phones use.
OK some of this maybe old news for programmers and some may not figured I would put it out here.
When I type ##634# on my DVP you go a "diagnostic screen" with a big EM on the top and left side. Interestingly enough before you go to the screen "The Matrix" flashes..
On the screen there is:
Phone information W/ phone information button
(Button displays Phone Information.. I know shocking isnt it)
System information W/ system information button
(Button displays System Information.. I know doubly shocking)
RD Test w/ RD Test button
Click it and a text box opens above buttons
CIT w/ Customer Interface Test button
(Click and runs a Test of the interface.. who would have guessed )
Protocol w/ Protocol button
Click it and a text box opens above buttons
Service Center w/ Service Center button
This is interesting.. a windo opens up with a Green box <ZUNE> and a Red box <Composite>
Under <Zune> is Download and Restore, under <Composite> test and debug
Current mode is: Zune Mode is written under that.
....................
Now I assume you would put other codes like those found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838464
In either the text box under RD or protocol.. but when I do nothing executes. its as if the enter key has no function.
Anyone have experience with WP7 on other phones and can tell us what is different and the same between the phones.. as far as getting in.. codes, tweaks, etc..
Two more things when the code is entered and you go to Diagnostic mode. It becomes an App call EM.
As for where to put codes...
On the topic of the Red Composite and Green Zune key in the Diagnostic screen..
When you hit the Red one a password box comes up
"Input password to Composite"
Along with a keypad to type in said password. Although there isnt a "enter" key in the phone pad. Tried a number of things nothing worked.
Anyone else messing with thiers?
Looking at how the Samsung was "hacked" to run tethering I am wondering if the "composite" key is the one that gets you to tethering. Since the option is ZUNE or COMPOSITE.. and we know that you ahve the either or option with tethering.
http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/...-lies-full-diagnostic-menu-for-dell-venue-pro
Here is a vid.. of it
the video title says dell venue pro has a bug, what is it?
is there a code to check if the phone is unlocked?

what is the polling frequency? what does it do? and can i benefit from it?
After typing ##634# on the DVP and the "Diagnostic Screen" pops up after the "The Matrix" flashes..
There are a couple codes that will work.
For the RD Test w/ RD Test button
Click it and a text box opens above buttons
Enter *#6336# code in text box to have access to MFC Test options
I'm not sure but it may be possible to fix the MicroSD card issue people have been having.
Protocol w/ Protocol button
Click it and a text box opens above buttons
Enter the same code "*#6336#" (w/out quotations) in text box to have access to
Protocol menu w/ Active Feature, GMS FREQ & Band changing options.
In the Service Center w/ the Green box <ZUNE> and a Red box <Composite>
Click it and a text box opens above buttons
Enter the same code "*#301#" (w/out quotations) in text box to switch to Composite Mode. Phone will restart.
If anyone else has any finds or updates on other codes let me know.

I think it is hold the Camera and Volume + while powering on. I did the same thing you did and was able to hard reset using this method, it could be Camera and Volume - , try both, one will work
