Battery getting hot? - EVO Shift 4G General

The back of my phone gets pretty warm when I'm using it, I d/led the bat stat widget, I charged my phone overnight and notived that in the morning the temp on the battery was 19F, then I pick it up, play AngryBirds for about 10-15 minutes, check back, and the battery is at 99F!!! Is this normal?

After a couple of hours of it sitting here at my desk, I had a starting temp of 25.5 C... after about 10-15 of Angry Birds, now at 38.5 C.
Or 77.9 F to 101.3 F. A bit warm it seems to me.

I highly doubt your battery temp could get below freezing (32*). 99* isnt all that hot. 85* is around idle temp. I've seen my hero in the 104's*. You may have got C confused with F.

^ Freezing on the Farenheit scale is 32. On Celsius it's 0. ^
EDIT: Sorry, nevermind. Thought you were referring to the poster just above you and hadn't noticed the OP.
(Impaler, if you could just delete this post that'd be cool.)

About 20 min of Angry birds got the battery to 109F right now. This is silly.

Does your vibranT get insanely hot?

Hi I'm new to xda, and from the looks of things everybody seems very helpful
I was just wondering if anyone else has been having this issue
Upon regular use and normal brightness I notice the temp of my phone to be around 98 degrees but when using highest brightness levels its around 120 degrees!
Another thing is that when my battery is charged at 100%, once I remove the charger it immediately drops down to 97%
Has this been happening to any of you guys? Have to you found a solution for this?
Also I've been using battery life version 1.3 from the app store if that helps
Thanks in advance guys

Mine only gets really hot (temp > 100° F) if I am charging it and playing a game or watching a video at the same time.
Otherwise it stays at a reasonable level all day. Currently charging via USB; temp is 91.4° F.
Also, haven't seen mine immediately drop to 97% after unplugging. It usually takes a little while before my battery widget shows any drop in charge.

My Vibrant can get pretty warm but it's no worse than the CLIQ I used to cook my dinners on.
Haven't noticed
Mine gets really warm when I play Sims for an extended time.
Mine gets hot when the GPS is running. The heat doesn't come from the battery area, though, but from the top part of the phone - around the camera.
What happens is my screen gets blazing hot almost like a light bulb, the back however does not get as hot as the screen, I'm wondering if this just is a hardware issue and if I should swap it out or not

bingo - I have noticed the same with GPS on.
compared to my g1, this phone is "Warm" at best. Damn thing used to burn my lap with gps+wifi.
I have noticed the same thing. Mine gets really hot when it syncs non stop. I had to perform a factory reset and for now my phone is fine.

Battery life under certain use ?

What if I:
1. Unplug it 8AM
2. Turn on push Mail on 3g
3. Use Wifi for a few minutes during the day.
4. receive few calles
5. Read for 1-2 hours on the reader app.
6. SMS a few times
7. Play angry birds for 20 minutes
Can I do all that and still have battery left by 10PM ?
I charged mine yesterday, took it off charge at 7am. Made several calls during the day, was on wifi ALL day with syncing taking place often.
Played doodle jump and some poker game for about 30mins twice at certain points in the day, web browsed for around an hour.
Didn't charge it last night, woke up this morning with 50% battery still and I have just plugged it back in now, even though it has loads left.
To be fair I have rooted it with visionary and used setcpu to make it run at 256 when screen is off and slows it down at other points depending on battery life, but it makes no difference to the phone performance at all, just seems to increase the battery for me.

Just curious, what is your radio version? maybe it has something to do with that!

Who sais this has got to do with the battery. You don't know his other settings. Also, the question that is asked in this thread can't be awnsered. What is the screen brightness. How frequently does the phone update (also other apps). How did you charge it before or how far is the battery conditioned. ALso I would suggest asking questions like these in the already axisting battery threads, coz there already are some there.

Are you sure it wasn't plugged into the mains in the daytime hahaha..
Joking apart, that's good battery life, my wifi drains my battery like Homer drinking beer...
Would love to know all your phones settings..
Did a permroot a few days ago, will have to try the setcpu...although I did want to use that app with a dev kernel and overclock haha..maybe a bad idea battery wise.
Can't believe I'm doing a forum police impression but honestly, could this not have been posted in the relevant thread??!

batt: light notification - does it kill the batt?

i try not to over charge my phone especially since i just got it.. so i charge it during the day and not leave it plugged through out the night. but i noticed that when i get a text or something in the middle of the night and i dont see it till the morning the little red notification light blinks.. i noticed its been killing my batt.. is that norm?
so before i sleep my batt% is like 70 and when i get up its like 30..
I am guessing you are on stock rom. It's normal with fair amount of syncing. Long time back when on stock, I also found yahoo mail App consumes a lot of battery.

do you charge your phone when it hits like less then 20% or wait till it reaches less than 5?

depends. I normally let it fall below 5 and charge in one go for about 4-5 hrs. but of course if i am going out and its below 80, i would plug it in. i read somewhere you get better battery life if you let it drain completely sometimes. you may also wanna check out teamroyal's web page - teamroyal.net for more tips and calibration.

Insane Battery Drainage

Hey, I got my nexus 4 a couple days ago and have been messing around with it. I recently went back to stock and flashed franco kernel. I just played about ten minutes of Modern Combat 4 and my battery fell more than 10%!!! I think it was fine when I first got it so I hope I didnt damage my battery somehow. I did run like 3 mins of stresstest but I did not let my battery temp get higher than 40 degrees Celsius. My CPU temp did hit 70 though and throttled. Im really baffled as what to do... When playing MC4 my phone did not feel overly hot and when I checked my battery temps were around 35 degrees.

Normal temperature?

Hello, what is the normal temperature for s8 when not using and when actively using it? Mine is around 30 degrees when I unlock it after not using for 10-15 minutes, and 35-37 when actively using (music, browser, etc). Is that ok?
First of all what is your ambient temperature? Secondly is this your CPU temp or batt. temp? Under heavy load CPU can go up to 70-90C before it starts throttling, battery shouldn't go much above 40-45C, but if you live in Las Vegas or Phoenix, this is how hot it gets outside, so phone will reach those temp even when shutdown, if you leave it outside.

Thank you foe explaining, Battery temperature is 37 when I amactively using phone. I live in Moscow, right now we have around 5 degrees Celsius. Don't know how to get cpu temperature.
I would imagine you're using your phone inside a house, with temp. probably around 20-25C. Now I looked at battery statistics on my phone and it seems my phone's battery never went above 40C in the past 2 weeks. I don't think 37C you got is something to worry about yet, but if your battery is 30 even at idle inside of 20-25C room??, you may want to look into why your phone is running, when you're not using it. Another possibility is that your temp. sensor is miscalibrated and it shows little high. In other words, when your phone is not being used, it should be in deep sleep mode and battery should be withing couple degrees your room/ outside temperature, depending where you are.

Can you please advice any app to see what's running when phone is in deep sleep? I have a custom Rom, and I noticed increase of temperature after last update (or maybe I installed some root software that causes it)
Mine does not seem to heat up much at all, it is about room temp while playing games and what not. S8+ ATT
Do you have root? if yes, wakelock detector should show you what is keeping your phone waking up.
If not, 3C tools has whole suite of applications including nice battery manager, it keeps log of your battery charge/ temp etc every 10min, there is apps manager etc.
Have 2 days s8, same settings usage than my s7edge, and it's getting hot, I don't know the previous update, because i update and reset before use the phone.
But with Bluetooth on link to the car, and reading already went to 41 degrees its to much compared to s7.
Maybe I need to change it.
