Fixing Market related issues - Vega General

This thread is to assist with market related issues.
Market doesn't open! it just shrinks.
Go into applications and delete cache and uninstall updates for the market
Some times google services framework fails to install due to lack of space, if so a simple adb install seems to fix.
Issue installing Apps from market - installation error unknown reason -18
Try browsing to .android_secure and deleted the file 'smdl2tmp1.asec'. If this does work try the following
Try unmounting your sd card and then installing app again. Remount once finished

[Q] Some Apps not installing

I am having issues with downloading some apps 57mb internal storage .
Some apps successfully install others don't they say downloaded but installation failed .
Where do these downloads go to on my phone ?
EG : if i could find them would i be able to install through astro with .apks.
unrooted FRG33
I run into this with apps I have moved to SD and a couple other apps in the market like Google Sky Map. Also had this problem with WiFi File Explorer Pro but the dev made a change to his code and it updated fine after that, he said there is some issue with rooted phones. For apps that are already installed and won't update you need to move them back to phone storage and then update again. Not sure if this applies to you as you are unrooted but maybe you did the adb setinstalllocation?
Also, this should be in the Q&A section.

[Q] CM7 Gapps Market force closes when attempting a download

I just recently updated from CM6 to CM7 RC2. I flashed the ROM, then the gb gapps (03-07-2011 version), then darktremor's a2sd. I wiped data and dalvik. All of my apps on my external partition appeared upon reboot. When I open the Market, it works fine. However, when I goto the My Apps section, several apps automatically begin downloading automatically, but they never make any progress. When I cancel the download, and restart it the market crashes. If I try to download a new app, the market crashes. All other apps work fine.
My settings are set to save apps internally (so they will goto the ext partition). I've tried the following things, to no avail.
Deleting the smdl2tmp1.asec file
Reflashing gb gapps
fixing file permissions with rom manager
fixing file permissions with a2sd via terminal
clearing market, downloader, other-seemingly market related caches
Is there any other fixes for market force closes? If you need a logcat, let me know.
Bump.
Market still not downloading...I may try making a Nandroid, then flashing straight CM7 & gapps, without dta2sd....
UPDATE: I fixed it. I uninstalled the market updates, which didn't appear to have any effect, other than fixing my problem. I don't know how it updated, unless flashing gapps did it.

[Q] android play store service error and unroot

i have installed flexreaper R10 rom for about one week.
at the beginning, things are ok.
from last weekend, i sunddenly found android play store always shows server error. yesterday i suddenly found i can uninstall system app by saying permission denied and no root.
i have restored 20 mar's backup and also restored hc3.2.1 backup.the two problems still exists.
who can do me a favor to find a solution. thanks in advance.
I have same problem with play store
I have server error with all the rom I install and backup
maybe you have the solution on the post of flexreaper for android market problem and for wiping device
Please always follow installation instruction , all releases are different as they are based on a different rom leak
If you got problems please before posting them do the following.
Performe a REAL format....
here's how to on cwm:
go to in recovery enter "Backup and Restore" and click on "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)"
should say enabled....
then go into "Mounts and Storage" and "format /data"
this will REALLY format data and you will loose all you have in the in the internal memory
Did you try to download a free app first and then a payed one ?
I never had market problems and I flash almost every day clean install for testing.
I would suggest to keep trying and first a free app.
I added the phonesky.apk (original acer vending app) ,
First remove the playstore or vending app (depending on what it is called) in system/app with file manager with root.
Then copy / paste the phonesky.apk in that system/app folder and reboot but make sure before you do this all to clear cache and data of market app in settings apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23889096&postcount=9
but I am not able to do that
each time I have errors, maybe it's good for you
What kind of Play store error are you getting? I find I get a 101 error but playing around with the time and date settings always fixes it for me.
I have server error try again
I try and again,again.... still same error
the last flash I do it says 5 updates and connect to the market and server error
How can I do the full wipe of civato or replace the apk market simply
thank's
Does it happen when you try to download an app?
If you try to download an app from the market website on your computer, will it push the app to your tablet?

Have you cleared cache and data from play store? go into settings, manage applications, play store, clear data and cache. Maybe try a different account and see if that will communicate?

Am I having problems updating the ROM, or it's just a hardware issue?

Hello, I'm having a problem I could not solve even after searching in many forums and video tutorials.
My situation is as follows. Due to technical problems in my Galaxy Y GTS-5310 (it suffered some sort of electric pane that disabled the camera and the input of the headset), I decided to buy a GTS-5360.
The GTS-5310 device was ok to run all applications I used normally, with 4.1.2 Jellyfish. Whenever any updated version of any app was not available on Google Play for some reason (with some exceptions here and there), I've always been able to install it directly through the SD Card.
As I imagined, this new device (with old 2.6.1 Gingerbread) did not recognize the installation of most apps I used (such as Whatsapp, Waze or Instagram). I have managed to install only few of them, like Facebook Lite or Root Browser, and only through the SD Card.
On this new phone, the Google Play Store always shows me a message of incompatible versions (either with Error 492 or simply not making the download button available). Whenever I try to install any of these through SD Card (by downloading the .apk file directly to my computer, be it in Google Chrome or Firefox), then Parse Error appears ("There is a problem parsing this package").
So my first attempt was to use Google Market Helper to change the ROM record as it is viewed by Google Play. However, even changing the version registration of the device to a more upgraded one, this did not work.
The next step was to actually install a new ROM. I have since tried Hyperion 9.0 (2.6), then I try upgrading to Lollipop (4.4), which runs ok, except for installing these apps. As far as I know, the latter should accept the download and installation of most of the apps mentioned above. But whatever I tried, I kept getting the same error messages (Error 492 via Google Market, Parse Error via SD Card).
Since then, some of the suggestions I've followed have not worked either. These include deleting the .android_secure folder from the SD Card, then clearing the cache of processes such as the Google Play Store and Google Framework, as well as clearing the dalvik cache through CWM and rebooting. I did this more than once, but the problem persisted.
I wonder now whether even upgrading the Galaxy Y GTS-5360 to a compatible ROM such as Lollipop is enough for being able to run these applications due to hardware issues.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, galaxy y s5360 just support gingerbread is the reason of pars error when you install higher android apps.
About 492, any notification( log in error or gtalk...)?
Did you tried:
- Turn off device, Delete that folder on computer, then flash the rom again
- log in new gg acc

[solved] Google Play Store uninstalled, now cannot get it back

tl;dr: I uninstalled com.android.vending via adb, now re-installing it from APK isn't bringing the icon, or the functionality, back.
So today I tried to use my phone as you do, and "Application Google Play Services has stopped" was popping constantly, stacking the messages one after another, making it hard to even browse through GUI. Restart or clearing app data and app caches didn't helped. So I connected it to PC, and did:
```
adb shell
su
pm disable com.google.android.gms
```
(note: I should've tried "safe mode". But I didn't, so I don't know if it would help.)
The service disable command stopped the errors, but nothing else worked - Google Maps, GMail, even contacts stopped showing - looks like they had no proper local copy (which is concerning as well, but not really the issue I'm trying to solve).
So keeping GMS disabled is not really an option. I tried installing version 21.something and 19.something via adb, these both were constantly crashing as well. I finally went down to `com.google.android.gms_18.7.19` and that one seem to be working. But before that, I started removing services which use GMS - as I assumed the crash is probably caused not by GMS just existing, but by being used incorrectly by other things. One of the removed ones was Play Store - I did:
```
adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.vending
```
Ok, so no play store. But no problem, it can be easily re-installed from apk, right? Well no. This is the issue.
I tried installing a lot of various versions, but the store just isn't popping in the menu, nor in the activities handlers:
```
# adb shell monkey -p com.android.vending 1
** No activities found to run, monkey aborted.
# adb shell am start -n com.android.vending/com.google.android.vending.activities.MainActivity
Starting: Intent { cmp=com.android.vending/com.google.android.vending.activities.MainActivity }
Error type 3
Error: Activity class {com.android.vending/com.google.android.vending.activities.MainActivity} does not exist.
```
In the "Settings" -> "Applications", the Play Store is on the list, but it is marked as "not installed". Trying to "DISABLE" it or "ENABLE" again does not do anything useful (it uninstalls the version I installed, but original is still missing).
So installing the store succeeds, it just doesn't seem to do anything. Example cmd I use for installation:
```
# adb install -r -d "com.android.vending_19.9.23-all_0_PR_309342545-81992300_minAPI16(armeabi,armeabi-v7a,mips,mips64,x86,x86_64)(nodpi).apk"
Performing Push Install
com.android.vending_19.9.23-all_0_PR_309342545-81992300_minAPI16(armeabi,armeabi-v7a,mips,mips64,x86,x86_64)(nodpi).apk: 1 file pushed, 0 skipped. 2.7 MB/s (21821561 bytes in 7.817s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/com.android.vending_19.9.23-all_0_PR_309342545-81992300_minAPI16(armeabi,armeabi-v7a,mips,mips64,x86,x86_64)(nodpi).apk
Success
```
I tied extracting all the factory APKs from N910 stock images, but I can't easily figure out which APK stores the shop (yeah, I might try extracting them all, it's one line script after all).
Any idea what's going on, or what I should check?
Ooh..
```
adb install -r --user 0 "com.android.vending_19.9.23-all_0_PR_309342545-81992300_minAPI16(armeabi,armeabi-v7a,mips,mips64,x86,x86_64)(nodpi).apk"
```
That worked. It took me far too long to figure out.
So I uninstalled the app from "--user 0" - so from system apps, but tried to re-install it for local user instead. Turns out the Play services won't work if installed this way.
Issue solved.
I started to have exactly the same f***ing issue yesterday! I have wiped all data tried reinstalling ROM and still same errror... Why did this happen?
Does your fix corrects it forever?
I will need to try your solution. Thinking of moving to another custom ROM from almost original one.
Sadly I am getting INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE.
What ROM do you have? Does this work only with stock ROM?
Condensing the story down for people who just want to solve constant "Application Google Play Services has stopped":
If you have this error, try downloading and installing "com.google.android.gms" APK in version "18.7.19".
You don't need to uninstall anything, you can just replace the existing package with:
```
adb install -r -d --user 0 "com.google.android.gms_18.7.19_(040300-262610125)-18719015_minAPI23(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi).apk"
```
options:
* -r will allow re-installing the package on existing installation
* -d will allow to downgrade the package if current version is newer
* --user 0 will install the package as system package, as the original package is installed this way (on Note4 stock images)
You need to find and download the proper APK file first, ofc.
I also have this problem with Google Play services constantly crashing and making phone almost unusable.
I tried clearing app cache, safe mode. Did not help. Only uninstalling updates for Google Play Services stopped constant crashes, but left about half of my apps unusable state because they relay to recent version of GMS.
I will try manually install recent working google play services .apk and see if it helps.
But how to stop automatic update of Google Play Services to the crashing one again? Automatic updates disabled everywhere, including Auto Update Google apps.

Seems that clearing internal storage helped, so I think update + someold settings/data files causes this issue.
Could You please specify? By clearing internal storage You mean wipe all data?
Because Nothing helps, uninstalling Play Services updates, clearing app cache and even clearing the data. Also I cannot manually install google pay services .apk file, after installing it gives me installation failed. Play store installs Play Services, but they start crashing right after that.
Galaxy Note4 910F with stock 6.0.1 Android and Magisk rooted.
The issue returned for me, and I was able to make it go away again by clearing cache & data only for few specific apps. Details here:
[Solved] Error: "Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped" On different Note 4 Variants!!
Getting an error on multiple Note 4 variants N910V running Modest Rom & N916K (converted to N910C) running eRobot all within the last couple of days "Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped" , seems like a global issue anyone knows why &...

I then allowed Google Store to update everything, and the issue didn't come back. So looks like the solution from the above thread really fixed it.
Solved for me. I updated Google Play services from Play Store and appears that Google fixed the botched update by releasing new version. Hope they never botch it again and not trash my phone, but more permanent fix needed, like completely preventing unnecessary auto updates to critical Android parts.
