[Tweak] Paid Apps support - Folio 100 Themes and Apps

After several hours of debugging and reverse engineering of the market app it turns out, the solution was rather simple.
There was an HTTP Error 403 when accessing the market download urls via https.
So it looks like there have been some issues with the apache commons library on the folio (maybe patched by toshiba, maybe old/broken version)
The patch below will simply exchange the /system/framework/ext.jar package from folio with the one from tnt. Only 6 (class-)files have changed, all within org.apache.commons.http.
Tested:
- download previously bought application
- buying an application
- application that access the licensing server
Tested on FolioMod 1.3c

GREAT.
It's getting better and better!
EDIT: Will that also work on the 1.3d test version?

Yeah, it works with the beta foliomod v1.3d!!!
Nice work, Thx...

no problem.....glad you like me too
yea memory issues have been reported @ my site, Im currently looking into it. It also will not start a data connection, you have to manually start that yourself also.

wow, i am impressed if the memory problem gets fixed, thanks a lot.
if only there was a smartphone verion i could get. it makes me want to go back to ppc.
It's been working fine for me - I've been using it with several windows open and it hasn't complained yet... I'm using a heavily customised version, but I have to say that it's one of the most beautiful apps I've ever seen (after customising!)...
Thanks Lvballer06!

yea I have ran across the memory issues myself. I just moved my history folder over to the card and change the reg reference and its been working beautifully. I havent figured out what the issue is there nor can I find out why it closes when u hit ok......I also would like to know what you mean by a heavily customized version?

I'm sitting in court right now, stealing wifi and browsing with picsel. It's a beautiful app, but it's a shame it doesn't quite conform to Win32 API. Custom text boxes etc, so for some reason it doesn't accept carriage returns (enter key line breaks). But, minor issue.I think the memory issue may due to attempting to download streaming media, which fills all free memory (at least, youtube crashes it). May need to limit assigned memory in registry.Heavily customised: I'm using a plugin I am writing to make it prettier and easier to use... just for my use for now, but it could be very helpful. Multiple windows are supported, but not very useful because you can't pass links between windows. But you can browse in multiple windows, and do lots of other stuff.V

Any plans on releasing this little jewel? sounds pretty cool
Not just yet. Picsel is one of the most beautiful apps I've seen, but at the same time a little rudimentary in access Working on improving it... will keep you informed.

I have been playing with Picsel and it's a great app.
The other day it suddenly lost the "momentum" when scrolling with the stylus. So if I am dragging the stylus and lift it immediately stops making it harder to get through long pages. Anyone else experienced this? Have a solution?
Mine lost momentum too after first usage. Not missing it though. Didn't investigate how to reenable...

**UPDATED** MIDlet manager

i will give credit to risidoro for this one.. and im lazy som im just going to copy/paste. original post can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1079560&posted=1#post1079560
This new MIDlet Manager comes from the new HTC Herald ROM, version 1.2.405
This new version is JTWI 1.0 compliant and SUPPORTS Google's SATELLITE Maps (of course, you need to download Google Maps' client from www.google.com/gmm
This release also supports sending SMSs from Opera Mini 3.0 (mini.opera.com)!!!
Some Details about the program:
Developer: Intent
Name: MIDlet Manager
Version: 11.1.7.1023
Build: 20060907
JWTI v.1.0 Compliance!
------- HOW TO INSTALL ------------
- download the zip archive from:
Risidoro_Intent_MIDlet_Manager_v11.zip
- extract the cab (inside the archive) somewhere in your PC (e.g. Desktop)
- copy to somewhere in your PocketPC (e.g. \storage card)
- in your PocketPC, navigate with File Manager to the cab and tap on it to install
- when asked, choose to install in the Device (and NOT in Storage Card!)
- reboot when asked
PS: It can be installed over previous version (or in roms where the old midlet is included)!
-------- COMPATIBILITY ---------------
So far, i've only tested it with the midlets i use the most.
- Google Maps runs fine. Satellite maps are supported!!!
- Opera Mini 3.0 runs OK too and supports SMS sending. Even softkeys works! Photo blog feature, however, is not supported
- Mobile GMaps, beta 1.30.08 http://wap.mgmaps.com/ simply wonderful. Sat images for google and yahoo maps.
Does this replace the MIDP manager suplied by default on the phone? Can I use both once this is installed?
(I'm using an Orange branded M3100 with the Intent Midlet Manager, v10.1.7.559 if that matters. I guess thats the same on all hermes devices.)
Thanks,
Sam

and no not yet, i am still a little busy with life, my wife is due to pop out #4 any day now, plus with all the bootloader security stuff going on i dont feel comfortable on making a rom quite yet.. we will see what the future holds
Wowz! Great news! Thanks! I post a link to this thread to all PPC forums / my blog!
Congrats on number 4 Shogun!
I hate to high jack a thread but...
Is there a launch command to put at the end of the .exe file to lauch to start the midlet manager and launch a midlet.
Found my answer and here it is incase anyone else wants to launch midlets from a shortcut. Works for me on iLauncher.
jmm.exe -r"suite","vendor","name" runs Opera Mini and Google Maps for me.
If I try to put the whole line in quotes "name, vendor, name" - it doesn't launch the midlet - only JMM.exe.
You can run any midlet that you have installed. You can find the parameters such as a midlet name and the exact vendor name in Application Data\Tao\intent\app\jam\midlets\midlets.db. I just repeat the midlet name instead of the suite.
Just installed 11.1.7.1023 on my 8525. I first got a system message "access denied"... Oh yeah... I guess I should close MIDlet first
2nd try (once I had a cup of coffee and turned on my brain) install went A-OK. Opera Mini gave me an error and would not connect to anything. I uninstalled the midlet and re-installed and now everything is working. GMaps is faster than map4pda. Softkey functions work as advertised. Thanks for this update!
Install failed
I tried installing it on my MDA Vario II and received the following error
"Installation was unsucessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions." Any suggestions?
Thanks
Richard

Best Bible software for Windows Mobile

Hi there everyone,
I just got an HTC Touch and I would love to be able to get a modern English translation of Bible on it. Specifically I am thinking of the NIV or possibly the NKJV.
Top features I am looking for are:
1) Easy to read on screen. Should be readable for practical use including reading out load in groups. Perhaps something out there has configurable font sizes?
2) Easy to navigate to desired passage (book, chapter, verse)
3) Basic search functionality so I can enter words like “apart law testify” and get passages such as Romans 3:21. The search functionality should be comparable to that of www.biblegateway.com - currently one of my most used resources.
Optional features that might be nice but not critical might be:
1) Bookmarks: So I can prepare a lesson and have bookmarks for relevant passages. If the bookmarks could be color-coded, numbered of have labels attached this might make it easier for me to know which bookmark to use at which point during the lesson.
2) Translation independence. Perhaps the software could be independent of the translation used and additional translations (RSV, NIV, ASV, etc...) could be purchased and loaded into the same software.
3) Personal notes: If I could enter my own personal notes and have them automatically date/time stamped and stay with a passage that might be nice.
4) A Windows XP/Vista version: if the software had a desktop version that might be nice but not at all necessary.
I realize such software is most likely to be commercial (particularly because the NIV is copyrighted to Zondervan) but if I could get something with the top 3 features I would happily pay for it.
Best regards,
The Fish.
Try www.OliveTree.com
They have the NIV and a few Bibles for the HTC Touch...
thanks
Drew
Try e-sword.net as well. (pocket e-sword) It is a free program and I think works great. I have not used olivetree before though. How do they compare?

That's the best I've ever used and I've been using them for over 6 years since way back when I only had a palm. Their Reader is independent from the bibles so you can have multiple bibles. You can also install the reader to main memory and install bibles onto storage card (in my case I have some in storage and some in main memory since I'm still having the random data loss issue on my Touch.) They have a number of free translations and then you can also purchase other translations for a reasonable price. And the reader itself is free so you can pick it up along with some free bibles to try out for a while. I'm sure you'll like it
Top Features:
1. Configurable font sizes - Check.
2. Easy to navigate - check. It has configurable scrolling so you can scroll by page, verse, chapter, or auto scrolling (goes line by line continuously great for reading out loud).
3. Basic search - Check
Optional Features
1. Bookmarks - Check
2. Translation independence - check
3. Personal notes - check
4. Windows Version - Check (maybe). They have a desktop assistant that's supposed to have some of the features of the mobile reader. But I've never given it a try so I can't vouch for it. Desktop assistant is $7 - http://www.olivetree.com/download/desktop/screenshots.php

Hi everyone,
It looks like I accidentally started two threads on the same topic. Sorry about that.
So far I have received three recommendations:
Laridian
Olive Tree
Pocket e-sword
Are these the only real players with this kind of a product? If so it should be pretty easy for me to try all three I appreciate your help in this. So far I think I am tilting in the direction of Olive Tree.
I actually use Mobipocket and love it. Have used it since my PDA days and have the KJV for it.
I recomend Olivetree
I have used this product for over 5 years on a Palm and just recently switched to a Touch. It has everything I could think of and has all the major versions including the original languages. There are vast selection of resources available and base package is free. You pay only for copytrighted material.
Highly recomended!

If youre willing to spend some money I suggest Quick Verse mobile 2007. It is a truly multimedia bible that even my non-techy wife was impressed with.

I got a vogue in December, and I had installed and was using e-sword (which I have been using on my pc and several pda's for years) until I went from WM6 to WM6.1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and it won't load when I try to open it. I have also installed Olive Tree and Laridian and I'm evaluating them. So, so far I can't tell you how to get it working properly, but depending on the version of WM you are running, it seems e-sword might have a conflict with 6.1
Pocket e-Sword
Running fine for me with wm6.1, program installed in memory, Bibles and commentaries on storage card.
Yes, I can confirm VZYGuy's experience. I installed e-Sword on a Sprint Vogue and it works flawlessly. I installed everything to the storage card. And Incidentally, I had already purchased a number of premium modules for my desktop PC version of e-sword and managed to convert those to a pocket version. Works great. The sad thing is, I recently purchase Laridian for the Pocket PC because a number of people had said that e-Sword was not so good on the Pocket version. After using Laridian for a few weeks, I decided to go ahead and load Pocket e-Sword. Honestly and IMHO, e-Sword is far more functional, feature rich, intuitive, and pleasing for what I would like out of a Bible program. Wish that I would have tried e-Sword first (thought I was going to have to re-purchase all the premium modules I had and that discouraged me as well).
Here are my phone parameters:
OS: WM 6.1a
Base ROM Ver: 3.02 with DHarvey's Vista Black (awesome)
Radio Ver: 3.42.30
Storage Card: PNY SD 4GB

I'm happy for those of you who who are still able to use E-Sword, however it still isn't working for me. I reinstalled E-Sword and one Bible module. No go. I have a US Cellular Vogue with WM 6.1, Rom 3.01.573.4, Radio 3.43.30, and an 8 gig Kingston card. I'm currently running M2D, which I had not installed when E-Sword stopped working. It worked until I installed WM 6.1 Just like activesync. At least being able to access GPS makes up for the loss of E-Sword and the hassle with activesync.
I found the answer in another thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1772770&postcount=103 The problem Pocket E-Sword has is with .Net CF 3.5 which I have on my Vogue. Since I can't remember which program I installed which needed this, I will get by with PocketBible and BibleReader until Rick gets the problem sorted out. Since 3.5 is going to be required by more programs, this incompatibility will hopefully be reconciled at some point.

Requesting Soulseek P2P App Port for PPC

I would love to see this wonderful program being ported to WinMo, as there is even a great port of it for the iPhone.
Who's Interested in developing this?
I would've done it by now, but have no prior or current programing experience what-so-ever.
Sweet
I didn't know there was soulseek for the iphone. that is sweet. Lets rally em up boys. Develop WMSLSK. Show em how its done.
Theirs gotta be someone who's at least mildly interested, Please post a reply saying you may give this a chance, or even better a GO.
I wish
I wish I was a programmer. Sadly I only know web design type stuff. If you don't know what soulseek is check out http://www.slsknet.org
This is a great idea!
That's not a bad idea. There used to be an eDonkey client for ppc called Mopiphant, but it was more of a proof of concept. I enjoy using Wuzam to download songs on the go, though lately I've had best results with Opera as they've revamped the site. I also recommend JimmyR.com's mp3 search which is a frontend for searching google for mp3's. Might be two good alternatives until a PPC port of a good P2P program is developed.
Cheers
So I did some searching around and I remembered a program from years back called "Pocket G2" which had it's development ceased for some reason. But I checked it out again and actually found a downloadable copy here: http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/2/4/734745/PocketG2Pro-2401_PPC.ARM.CAB
Anywho, here's the dirt. Pocket G2 requires a 3.3 mb install and Net1.0CF which is included in the hefty install. I couldn't get any searches to work at first, but I looked around and found this Gnutella network server cache http://gcachescan.jonatkins.com/
Just click on a few of the server addresses on that site and copy the url into G2 so you'll be able to search the network. The url's should start with http:// ... and end with .php, though others may work, I haven't yet tested as the setup I have now seems to work fine for me. I did experience a crash when my device powered off and brought up S2U2.. not sure if disabling power management would fix the issue or if there is a conflict there, but I'll keep testing and post an update later. Let me know what you guys think.
Cheers

Ive actually tried Pocket G2. its extremely buggy, always crashing, and even left minimized would eventually terminate.
Ugh, i would totally LOVE to see a Soulseek port for WinMo... I have Winmobile Torrent for my phone already, Making me feel a lot better that my phone can actually be used in advantageous moments. (w00t big words )
Otherwise, i looked around, not really many notable P2P Apps for Mobiles yet... such a shame. Sept wmtorrent.

Comn peoples, is there not 1 person who is capable of coding this? Should i ask the guy who ported it to iPhone to make a WinMo Port? he probably has no Coding experience for WinMo tho...

it does crash on occasion but the beta is fairly stable

Ubuntu on Gen8

Hello everybody!
I have been playing with the ARM port of Ubuntu and my Archos 70 for a few days now and I got it to boot and login on a root account.
Not a lot of things work. The touchscreen, sound, hardware buttons and 3d don't work (I'm guessing this since Unity doesn't work).
You don't imagine the pain that I had to suffer to get here without input of any kind.
Everything else seems to work fine, slow but fine (X, gnome, etc).
Things that I haven't tried yet are the webcam, the HDMI, the SD reader and the USB (which would help me a lot to get things working faster)
I'll update my post with pics and a link to download the image when it's done uploading.
For those who have been longer on the Archos community or have some experience I would ask you to give me some advice to get the touchscreen working.
Update :(12/03/2011)
Sroll down for a link and instructions on how to install it (The touchscreen works in this new image)
afaik touchscreen is connected by usb internally. check dmesg of android and figure out which driver you need and build/download/whatever it to ubuntu
Thanks! That's actually a great idea. I never thought about that
I did what you told me and it revealed that the screen is a Unitec USB Touch (Win7) with a 227d:0709 ID. I haven't found any information online except for this which isn't that informative either: lii-enac.fr/en/architecture/linux-input/multitouch-devices .html
is it not an option to re-build(and probably modify) the driver based on the gen8 source? looks to me that it is in the source package(gen8gpl-froyo/linux/drivers/input/touchscreen).
@veenstrac of course, as long as there is no ARM assembler code included it shouldn't be that hard to port it to an ubuntu kernel. except for the bit that ubuntu uses a newer kernel (2.6.3x) than archos (2.6.29). maybe some APIs need to be modified to get it compiled and working
I finally got the touchscreen working!
I didn't need to compile any drivers or anything. Just by changing the evdev configuration worked!
The problem now is that I can't "click" the mouse properly (when I do it it stays "pressed" forever) and also that X crashes after a while...

What did you do to modify it and get it to work? I have the same touch screen and I've tried a number of things to the evdev config and none seem to make any difference.
this sounds cool anything i can do to help?
If anyone knows how the evdev can be modified to make this work, can they please share this with the rest of the world? I've tried to no avail. I would really like to be able to use UNR, but it's worthless without a touch screen on a touch screen only device.
I'm sorry I didn't respond to any of the later posts. I had a really terrible week full of exams ...
Anyway, I will be working on Ubuntu this weekend to see if I can solve the rest of the problems (wifi not working, sound not working, crashes ....). But for those who want to try I uploaded the image to Dropbox. Please give me some feedback: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3122179/rootfs.img
Once you have downloaded it you have to install the SDL and replece the Angstrom img with this one. (It won't work if you have the Urukdroid intramfs).
So yeah. Good luck with that and thanks in advance to those who give me some feedback
Hey
I would like to help you out, just one question, are you using the netbook edition or is it the desktop one?
It's Ubuntu Netbook Edition but I make it boot to the "normal" desktop since Unity needs 3D to work.
The graphic card is another thing I am working on since it would be better to use Unity in these kind of devices.
Hello,
If you want to try Linux on Android (for me, A101), you can try old method (with chroot) on Android rooted device (for me, Chulri root method); it's very easy to boot Debian or Ubuntu while Android is running:

link 2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=899037
But for me, it's just for fun, not to work with this linux. But it works.
hum hum

What you propose with your rootfs.img is to get Ubuntu running really on the tab but unfortunatly with no wifi for the moment
I don't know if this can help but i was folllowing the same type of work here :

Thanks dude! I really appreciate when what I do is useful for someone!
And yeah the guy from the archosfans forum it's me
Dropbox has suspended my account for using too much bandwith. So if you want to try it I hope I will have a new version by Monday on another server.
one more
Thanks,
don't worry for your img, i get it just before they closed your DropBox
I found one more guy trying to put Debian on A101
3w.dev.katlea-studio.com/home.html?PHPSESSID=fik67vlp0mv9c59pg8cm5pt0c3
he says "About wifi: ability to connect and make a ping but the internet does not work. I try to solve this quickly."
good luck again
