Battery life - EVO Shift 4G General

Has anyone seen awesome battery life with this thing or is it just me!? It's been off the charger for 4h20m and the battery is as 87%. wifi off, gps off, bluetooth off, sync ON. just text messaging all day, maybe 20 texts total (slow day today). little bit of facebook, little bit of email, thats about it, so i didn't really do much with the battery but even so with this kind of use my evo would probably be down to around 70%.
battery indicator pro says the display is responsible for 64% of the power drain and cell standby is only 12%, whereas my evo usually had around 50% cell standby and display was only like 8%. was the evo just really bad at holding a signal or what? my display is at middle brightness, if you use the power control widget.
can anyone else tell me how much % their display uses? and what their battery life is like?
after typing this post it's only dropped 1%. word.

Personally, I don't have much of a basis for comparison. I just got my Shift on an upgrade from an aging Samsung feature phone. I've heard all about the horrid battery life on the Evo. My brother has one and can't get a full day of use.
I was out with a real estate agent looking at houses for 6 hours yesterday. We used the GPS a little bit. I was checking NFL playoff scores every hour or so. I was also texting/emailing lightly. 4G was off. By the evening when I put it back on the charger it was still in the green. I didn't look at the power meter specifics... wish I did.
And today I'm just about to leave the office right now. I'm at 8 hrs, 59 min since unplugged with 6/10 green battery bars. (Hey... how do I get the exact percentage? Thanks!)
Display is 62% of my usage (It's set to Auto-brightness). Android system is next at 20%... Light email/texting use all day long at work. Played games for 30 minutes during lunch. Downloaded some new apps (using 4G). Wi-Fi and GPS off all day.
Overall it's a little better than I expected. But I know I haven't really had a heavy day of use yet.

Battery Indicator Pro is a great app that runs in your menubar and displays the percentage for you.
glad we're on the same page with the display, though

I almostmreturned the phone. My cycles were:
1st 8+ hours
2nd 4 hours
3rd 2 hours
Did a factory reset on the phone and it has started to turn around.
4th 9:40 min and at 30% when on the charger
5th 10:46 and still going. Battery is at 30%

I've recharged twice since I got it on Saturday. This seems great, coming from the sprint hero

Exactly. My hero sucked. I used my phone lightly and had it without a charge for over 24 hours. Did some playing around setting it up and then some light texting, emailing, and 4g usage. Then turned off 4g. Amazing.

This isn't your dream phone, it's the one after that. You gotta take it out and play with it more!

I've had to charge it twice a day since the sixth, battery life has been terrible.
I have all the stuff disabled, it just seems to drain even when nothing is running.
I did have an issue with terrible signal on the first day, once I did ##DATA# it fixed it, but my battery life is sucking it up badly.
Sent from my bathroom, with toilet paper.

Just got my wife a shift earlier today and ran it down from the half life that came with the battery in about...6 hours. That was with near constant use, the screen on max, wifi, and sync. Plus GPS on for awhile too. Compared to my epic which with similar use can go...maybe 6 hours from full? It depends. I'll be comparing her battery usage to mine over time and I'll post after she gets some use from a full charge. Under normal usage I can get up to 28 hours from my Epic so people reporting horrible battery life must be doing something wrong or have a defective battery. I fully expect her to get a couple days life out of each of her charges though she'll probably throw it on the charger every night.

anyone have an explanation of why the screen is the largest amount of usage under battery stats? yesterday was an average day for me and the display was something like 50%. on my Evo cell standby was always the highest and the display was down around 8 or 10%
edit: this morning the phone has been unplugged for an hour and a half and cell standby is 50% and the display is 11%... *scratches head*

I just switched to Sprint a couple days ago and got an EVO 4G; I am really unhappy with the battery life and though I got them to give me an extended battery for free it still seems like it's dying very quickly. I am a heavy data user and it's driving me crazy; does anyone have any experience going from the EVO 4G to the Shift and, if so, what are your thoughts, particularly in regards to battery life? Is it worth the loss of size and cameras?

i went from the evo to the shift (30 day swap deal) and i haven't even looked back. the battery life is STELLAR as far as i'm concerned. the evo sucked down power like nobody's business. i'm sure if you got an extended battery for the shift it would last you 2 days at least.

All I gotta say is my extended battery experience is amazing. I get about 36 hours out of my evo. Yea it looks a little fugly now but fck it I can abuse it as much as I want too with battery to spare.

I just got the extended battery and haven't charged it overnight yet, but so fast I am very concerned that it is not living up to expectations. However I won't make any quick judgments until I've seen how it does over a couple days.

My Hero got better battery life.

Typical use for me is pulling the phone off the charger at 5am, light to moderate use throughout the day (texting, facebook/twitter, apps updating ~2-4 hours, etc) and then putting back on the charger at 9pm.
I upgraded from the Hero. The Hero was rooted and running AOSP w/ modified kernel and collin's battery tweak. Battery life was impressive, but performance was an issue. I could routinely get 30+ hours battery life with the type of use listed above (battery was usually 50% or more when I'd put it back on the charger).
With the Shift, battery life is surprisingly good. For some reason I lose ~10% within the first hour, but after that, it seems to settle down and by the end of the day I'm still at ~30% (with the type of use listed above).
Based on what was possible with the custom ROM's and kernel tweaks for the Hero, I'm excited to see what the community can do with the Shift once we get root.

That first 10% drop seems normal for the new HTC phones. I know the Evo does the same thing. Just the way they're charging the batteries

I found this article helpful in understanding the ~10% dropoff when first off the charger.

At what setting do you all have your screen brightness set? Do you use the auto-brightness option. I find consistently that the overwhelming majority of battery use (according to that screen in the settings) is from the display.

Terrible Battery Life!

I got my Vibrant a few days ago and as of today i can only get 4-5 hours max out of the whole battery and thats with heavy to moderate use.. does anyone else seem to have this problem.. im gonna return the phone and get a new one but does anyone else seem to have this?
I really dont understand why this is so bad..
4 or 5 hours of heavy use is about all I get. That is if I'm constantly messing with it. E.g. web, email, facebook, ect. However I think this phone has excellent battery life when I'm not constantly playing with it. Wifi definitely drains it quicker. And stupid apps like facebook. I periodically mess with my phone throughout the work day and by the time I get home I usually have about 75% battery remaining. I think that's pretty good.

THE BATTERY IS TERRIBLE. thats why i returned it, and the slow acrolling from screen to screen with stock software
I think you can only expect about 4 hours of awake time use on this phone. I haven't had much trouble with mine, I get about 13-14 hours per charge. But my phone its idle 9-10 hours of the day.

I would think by now people would be use to the type of battery life you get with these types of phones. With heavy usage your not going to last all day just how it is until battery tech catches up to phone tech. I use mine a above moderate usage and some days heavy usage. From when I unplug it at 7:00am the battery is down to about 10 to 15% by the time I leave work at 4:00pm. Thats a lot better than my HD2, Cliq, MT3G and G1.

I agree 100%. Im seeing a lot of this. One thing I dont see is the "Vibrant Complaint" forum. Can't understand why ppl feel the need to come back in here if they dont like, dont have or feel they need to bash the phone from their experience. Get rid of the phone or keep it and be patient, its that simple... or am I missing something?!?!?

Im almost in the same boat, much better battery life then my G1! I can get from 8-8pm with moderate usage and music palying for the last hour. I was experiencing horrible battery life (8-2/3pm) when I was running notifications with Bloo 1.5.apk, auto brightness on, and Advanced task manager running. Now that I have cut the notifications from bloo (got gmail for this anyway), set brightness to manual setting, and got rid of the task manager I am regularly seeing, after bering unplugged since 8(its now 1245) and im @ 85%. Try trimming down the services you have running in the background and by an extra battery or a car charger.
Id like love to try mine out when i get it tomorrow because with
Mytouch Slide, i had Facebook, Gmail and all the usual stuff syncing and it lasted me close to 8-12 hours of Web, texting and just playing around with it throughout the day.
The Nexus One Was the same lasted me some good 10-14 hours a day syncing the usual stuff along with the weather and such. So Id expect the vibrant to be the same, or Else im returning it and thats the end of it. That also goes for lagging issues as well. And most likely get a different android phone or go back to the N1 and Switch Forums....
Have you ever owned a Smartphone before? Thats normal if you are using it heavily.

no its not normal.. ive used my MT3G with heavy use gives me at least if not more than 7-8 hours use.. what i dont understand is why the hell it takes so long for my battery to charge.

I get 6-8 hours.
I think 5 hours of juice is really good relative to your heavy usage. I always get 15 - 18 hours a day. That's with moderate use. Even playing a game of Armored Strike for an hour. This is the best battery i've had on a phone. I can easily get over a day and a half or even more once I settle down and stop using it so much more than I need to [ because I just got it.... ]
If this is what you consider to be terrible, I don't mind how terrible my battery life at all. I made a few calls, used GPS a few times, always listening to music.. some market downloads, pictures taken. SetCPU at 1000MHZ 100% of the time.

Disable Google Talk. My battery life was excellent (typically all day on full charge with heavy use). I signed into google talk one day and was lucky to get 4hrs before charging was needed. I deselected the auto sign in option and killed it in the running services section. Battery life has gotten so much better 70% after 4.5hrs.
i think the battery life for my vibrant is pretty epic. when i went to cm5.0.8 and cm6 on my g1 i calibrated the battery and thought i was getting really good battery life. then i got the vibrant. i could probably make it two whole days without a charge with how i use my phone (probably moderate-light compared to most on here).
but one thing i do agree with is this phone takes FOREVER to charge.
Hmm.....
Ok.....well I consider myself a moderate-heavy user...
On that note, I actually use my phone for work calls, emails, plus personal calls and emails as well....and i'm an avid gamer and already have many games on my Vibrant and use it to play them regularly.....then there is the fact that I travel for work....a lot, so I constantly using google voice search and maps to find where i need to go (never use the gps though)....I used the internet all the time, especially on WiFi (higher battery drain)....and don't get me started on the movies, music and youtube....plus while at work I have Pandora running from my phone throughout the day....
So how is my battery life? I unplug my phone every morning at 9am, with all that use I don't need to plug it in again till 10-11pm (12-14hrs!!).....by that time of course the battery level is at 5-15%.....But I'm definitely not complaining....
I do however disable the auto-brightness feature....AND turn down my brightness to about 30%....50% brightness cuts about 2 hours off of the battery life....
But a GREAT PHONE!!! Loving my new Galaxy S Vibrant

yeah, i feel the same way. As far as phone taking forever to charge, are you using the usb-computer charger or usb-wall? The usb-computer can be very weak depending on your system.
Charging from pc, i would wake up only to see 65%. That's pretty crazy. On the wall charger, it takes less about 4-5 hours every time.
Anyone loosing like 6 percent in the first 15 minutes after a full charge? 15 minutes ago i was 100% now im at 94....
I get better battery life than i got on my G1.
These are not cell phones... they are tinny laptops that you can press against your face and make phone calls.
This thing has more features than the $1200 gaming PC i built 2 months ago.
I had bad battery life the first day. Turned the phone off late at night and let it charge full. Battery has been wonderful since then.

My battery life...

sucks. I know there are threads about this but I just am sick of this. I had the Evo for a bit and I swear that battery life was better.
I don't know if its because of my crappy reception or what--but I can't even last a morning of light use with this phone. Super annoying... I had high expectations but when i'm getting low battery warnings before noon with barely using the phone at all, something has got to be wrong. I did a factory reset, did a full discharge/full charge. after it said fully charged i unplugged and plugged back in. i don't know what else to try. should i replace my phone? ask for a different battery? the date on the battery is 8/14.
Ok my rant is over...publicly that is.
edit: mods you can just delete this thread. i also hate clutter and hate that my rant has added to it. (hopefully we get some sort of update/custom rom soon that fixes battery!)

The battery life on my EVO is not better.
What do you do with the phone that drains it so much?
Open up your battery statistics. What is using it the most? How long is your display on for (select "display" from battery history and it will say long long it has been on for).
Have you charged it correctly for 1st time use? (charge to 100%, then drain to 0, then charge to 100% again)?
Seems like you are experiencing much faster battery drain than expected. My battery lasts all day long with light use (~22 hours). 10-12 hours under heavy use (3-4 hours of screen on time). I use juice defender as well, and I keep my screen brightness at 0% (still pretty bright) unless I go outside).

Bro turn off wat u don't need. Auto sync is adrain and having data connected is a drain as well. If ur not using the data then turn it off. U can still txt n get calls. N when u wanna check the net or watever then turn it bak on.

In Battery Usage / Cell standby, what is your time without signal? If it's high (like over 10%) this will eat your battery, so you'll need to reset the radio by quickly going into airplane mode (hold power) and leaving airplane mode. TWS will drop quickly. Weird bug, you'll have to do this once every reboot, hope it gets fixed.
Also, if you are in an area like work or home that has wi-fi, leave it always on, turn off "notify open networks" and hit Menu / Advanced to switch the wi-fi policy to "never sleep". When you are at home or work the phone will auto connect to these places and do all data over wi-fi which uses less power than 3G, even when the screen is asleep.
Finally, while I leave on window animations & Google Talk, I turn brightness in the browser and on the phone all the way down and turn off haptic feedback except for the capacitive buttons.
I've been unplugged since 8:30am and have been at work & home and texting all day, light surfing, a few phone calls, apps, etc, and now at 10pm I have 65% battery remaining. I think that's pretty good.

Wha?! All that and still 65% by 10pm? If I let my phone sit on the desk from 8:30 am by 10pm I would probably be less than 65%.
The range of experiences is just way too wide on this board. I like this phone so much that I've decided to just accept it drains battery and have chargers everywhere. Plus I have 2 in my house purchased in different stores that exhibit the same power consumption.

You wanna explain this to me? Do you mean ALWAYS have wi-fi enabled? Or just when I'm at home? I use wi-fi at home for both the better battery life and faster speeds, but I was under the impression that if I always had it on that it would always be searching for signal, thus being entirely counterproductive.

This. I don't have all the chargers yet, but come Friday, I'll have two house chargers, an extra computer cable (for school/work), and my car charger. This phone is too awesome to let my battery life ruin it.
I've noticed that web browsing kills it fastest, which wasn't a surprise at all. I usually get 8-10 hours out of it, which is a lot lower than desired, but something I can live with. At least if I get my chargers, I can save the overall life of the battery.
Another thing to mention:
Vibration, while convenient and least annoying to everyone else, is the most power-draining notification you can use. Next is audio. Last is silence (obviously). Having it make noise AND vibrate is like signing your battery life's death warrant.
i think hydralisks epic runs on fairy dust and unicorn blood bc my epic sucked battery like no other.. and thats...screen brightness at 0...no programs running at all. and it still said 77% of battery drain was from the display. lol

First one reads: 21 hours and 29 minutes. For almost 4 hours of that, the screen is on. So you people saying you get 5 hours of battery life are doing something very wrong... or you have a bad phone. I can easily surpass 4 hours battery life with the screen on the whole time. Some of you don't seem to realize that once the phone hits 10-15%, it takes a LONG TIME to get it down to 0%. This is probably due to the battery just not being calibrated yet. At 6% battery I actually had to watch a whole hour of movies to get it to 0%... and even then the phone did not shut down.
Edit: phone was in airplane mode because the battery was at 0% and I didn't want it to crash before I snapped the photos. Cell standby is a major killer of battery. A solution to that (if you have a large cell standby number) is just to toggle airplane mode on and off when you boot up your phone. It works... dont know why. By my cell standby is almost always down to 5-10% now. More info on this issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772571
i agree with hydralisk, try toggling the airport mode on and then off. it will reboot the antenna of the epic. the cell standby mode totally drains the phone's battery reguardless of user activity or not. mine was 51% without signal but after the airport mode toggling, it dropped down to 8% without signal and my battery is somewhat better. (i'm a hardcore user so 8-10 hours is awesome for me. haha)
I can say that my first Epic was a bad phone. It wouldn't even last 3 hours on a single charge! It would discharge while browsing amazon.com and bn.com using the built-in browser and while plugged into the AC charger. I thought I was seeing things.
Today, I've exchanged it for a 2nd Epic. It still does discharge when I'm pounding away on it even though it's plugged into a USB charger. But otherwise, everything else is looking at lot better now, especially AC charging.
So there are good and there are some very bad examples of the Epic out there. I believe I've personally had my hands on both kinds.

Yes, according to this guy.

Same here it seem way better than I expected but I haven't tested the battery life thoroughly yet but indeed it is very good.
Tomorrow I will be flying back home. I'll be in the air for about 6 hours. I have 2 movies to watch, plus I'll be playing games and will listen to music. I am planning not to charge my tab until I get home. Let's see how it goes. I will update.
Being that my battery use is ~80% display, i should probably consider turning down the brightness. Still, I have been playing with it here and there throught the day (about 7 hours away from the charger now) and the battery level is still 75%
Somebody needs to find a way to mod the autobrightness to have a few options...I like the feature, but it is just a bit too dim for me.

My tab lost 10% battery for one hour medium usage (display on, 30% brightness, reading mainly). Dose it mean I have a battery issue here?

no. it just depends on what your doing. Wifi signal strength, Cell radio strength. the position of the moon and sun, etc.
BTW, battery life does not decrease linearly. so the numbers in that post are ridiculous.
the discharge curve will look something similar to this in most cases

(red line, also note phones cut off the extreme ends of the scale with regards to voltage to promote cell life)
it takes a few days for the battery (more specifically the charging circuitry) to get into a 'groove' when it comes to properly charging the battery and displaying the correct percentage.
if you want to know more about the Batteries in our phones and Tablets look at RCcar and RC plane sites. they use the same batteries as phones do so pretty much everything you learn there will apply here (except our phones don't draw 20+amps! )

Mine can easily last and day and a half, very impressed with the battery

Well, I understand you saying here. But 10% (90% to 80%) per hour for reading ebook only is far away from having a good battery at 4000mah. I will give it a few more days to check.

That's 10 hours at that usage, give or take, and right around what I'm seeing, 10% per hour of actual usage as an ebook, about 2-5% per hour if it's just sitting there connected, and about 15-20%/hour with heavy surfing or game playing.
I expect if I'm careful and keep the connectivity to a bare minimum, I can stretch 12 hours out of it when travelling.
Oh, and everyone...let the battery run down to zero at least once, preferably twice. We're talking total discharge to the point the phone turns itself off, then charge to 100%. This doesn't hurt or help the battery, but it does help make the actual battery monitoring more accurate.
honestly im not too impressed with the battery. i think the standby time sucks too. the iPad doesnt do a lot of things right, but the one thing it seems to do is to last for days. i realize the battery is close to twice as big but i was just use to that. i mean sure i dont use my ipad anymore, but it seems to last forever. anway, when i first got my tab, i managed to drain it in less than 6 hours. that was right out of the box (so it proly wasnt full all the way, but close to it). i was mad when that happened. that was with the brightness on auto and everything turned off except wifi. i could be just expecting too much. i thought conditioning the battery would be good for it. so i let it die all the way and recharged it to full. today, i wouldnt say i used the tablet like i usually would (i am a HEAVY user) and its been less than 12 hours and its already at 21%. this time it was running on 3G and brightness on low (not all the way, but about 30% or so). i dont even set the brightness to the highest cuz its too bright, auto seems to work the best. maybe im just being a tough critic. i mean my nexus only lasts like 5 hours now a days cuz i just use it too much. but im so use to just picking up another battery and moving along.
been having a good battery life after draining the battery to 3% twice then charging it to full again and now it almost last me 2 days better than my old nexus one using it primarily for comic book reading and bluetooth stereo music almost 6hrs. per day and a little gaming of angry birds and a little video and youtube + browsing calling and texting really don't like games too much
@croak
i've read a forum sometime ago that it's bad to drain li-ion to 0% so i think its better to drain it to near zero before charging again as i've read it may damage the cells if you drain it to 0%
how often should we condition the battery? (let it drain near 0 and charge up)

Doesn't hurt a lithium ion battery much at all, it's just another charge cycle.
But if you don't go down to the point that the device shuts off at least once, your battery meter can and often will be off by a good bit. There's never any confirmation. When yours was reading 3%, it might have actually been 8%, or it may have been 1% or less, but until you zero it out, you'll never know, and neither will the device. It'll still know when it's at 100%, but any reading below that can be inaccurate.
And keep in mind, this is NOT zero charge, it is not completely drained (the device does the auto-shutdown specifically to AVOID a complete drain).

Lithium Ion batteries don't need to be conditioned. But if you want to calibrate the battery meter, you'll need to do it at least once.
Using my Tab as a 3rd device, with my 1st being a HTC Evo and my 2nd being a Motorola i890, i am very impressed with the battery. Even treating my 1st and 2nd devices as red-headed step children and my Tab being in my hands more then them, my battery is yet to go below 50% in a day, the week i have had it. Even with checking 7 different email accounts every 5 min. Also, my Tab is on Wifi a majority of the day, which i would think puts more of a drain on the battery.
i was a little worried when i found out that the battery was not accessable to be able to swap it out at some point of the day. I have (6) batteries for my Evo, 2 red and 4 blacks. Before my tab, if my evo didnt touch a charger during the day, i would use atleast 4 of those batteries during the day. Yea, the size difference between the Evo and Tab battery is different, so i figured i wouldnt need 5 more Tab batteries, but atleast 1 or 2 extra.
My only complaint with regards to Power/Charging is the length of the USB Charge/Data cable. It is super short. i bought a 6ft extention @ Staples for about $5!
The fresh Tab battery is only spoiling us and will get worse as time goes by. I have been looking for other options in the mean time. Here are a few options i found:
ZAGGsparq 4000 mAh $90 @ fommy
Mophie - Juice Pack Powerstation 3600 mAh $99 @ BestBuy
ClearMax External Battery Pack 5000 mAh $39 @ eBay (questionable)
eGear UB-181 1800 mAh $19 @ eBay
eGear S220 (3-way charge: Solar,ac&usb) 2200 mAh $39 @ eBay
Yoobao YB-602 Power Bank (White or Black) 4800mAh $49 @ eBay
Personally, i think i am going with the Yoobao or Mophie or ZAGG.
***EDIT***
the ZAGGsparq is 6000 mAh, NOT 4000 like i stated above...
Yoobao has only 800 mA of output, too few !
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
The ZAGG has 2 x 1000 mAh. i wonder what the output is @ 1? I doubt very much that it is 1 x 2000 mAh...
Im impress with the batterry , way much better than my Ipad that I just sold ...

ATT - battery just isn't cutting it

No matter what I do the battery will not last me a full day. A full day for me is about 18 hours. I use my phone almost none at all while at work and I use juice defender to keep data and wifi off while I am not using the phone. I would say 80% of my day is wifi and only a little is LTE. I monitor my task usage and the only thing that ever shows up is screen...there are other apps but very little usage. I use auto brightness. Could that be it? Unless JD doesn't work well with these phones, I just can't figure out what it is. Unless of course its just normal...
Phone has to last me 18 hours with moderate usage. If it doesn't, I need another phone.

The big killer of battery life is when LTE doesn't have a good signal (inside a large building). Connecting and reconnecting to the tower is what always kills my battery. I suggest you look and try those "turn of LTE" hacks around. My battery lasts me about 20 hours with moderate usage (but I am always in a great LTE location), and about 12 hours with heavy usage.
As long as your signal (wi-fi, LTE, HSPA, whatever it may be) remains good, you should have amazing battery life. I often take my phone out for 16-17 hours between charges and have ended the day with anywhere from 60% to 25% of the battery life, ranging from light to moderate usage.
For me, an average day is on wi-fi for at least 90% of the time, but a recent trip I had to Chicago (LTE all day, no wi-fi) showed similar results - and that was with some more moderate use while traveling! Not sure if there is much you can do about your signal, but I know my last phone (Captivate) got worse signal in my pocket vs. on my desk. SIII doesn't seem to be having as much of an issue, but still something to consider if necessary in your case.
I live in Dallas and have great LTE.
I just copped the sgs3 today and have not put it down my batt isn't that bad. 8 hours st8 on it lol

OP, one suggestion I have...
What makes this phone a winner over my One X is the removable battery. I believe you can get a second stock battery for about $30, and I saw a charger and battery for around $40 earlier. Maybe you should pick up a spare? I realize it's not ideal, but it's an option.

I'm in Vegas, lte rocks and I use my phone constantly. I can't get 4 hours so I just ordered an Anker 2200mAh.
I'm not on wifi but the Lte network in Vegas flies too which is just an additional $$. I've just got juice defender ultimate. I know a lot of people swear by it but I can do it better and faster myself. I'm a heavy user and if we could just turn off the Lte u and then maybe slow down the processor., I would be fine. It's ridiculous we still need additional batteries.
Whenever I leave my house I do the following in settings.
Power Savings I now just leave on.
I either completely Restrict background data or you can do by application in Data usage and go into Accounts and Sync and turn most off. Anything not Google is off and under Google I just sync my calendar, address and Gmail.
Now if we can turn off Lte, I will be fine I think.

I flashed back the complete stock rom and I got great battery life. 12 hours, 3 phone calls, 3 push mail accounts, yahoo checks every 15 minutes, 1 hour streaming and the Windows Weekly podcast and I still had 65% left. I live/work just outside of an LTE area, and lately have been using my phone pretty light due to not being able to use it at work other than when I'm on lunch. I get almost no signal in my entire building, so 75% of the day I turn airplane on so my battery doesn't get raped.
So for me and my use recently, the battery has been doing good enough for me.
the standby thing raping my battery is weird, same thing with maps even though i never use it... but i guess both are common. Chrome use was at 3% and i forgot to check screen on time.
On the current charge I'm siting at 47% at almost 24 hours, about 1hr 15 mins of screen on time. 30 mins of voice, 10 of chrome...but i accidently unplugged the phone right before i went to sleep last night instead of starting this morning, and i just took a nap so again there is a lot of sleep time
Take all that for what it's worth, which I have no idea lol

I had the same issue, then discovered that going through a charge cycle fixes the issue. I got only 5.5 hours of use off my first charge (80% of the time on standby), but things improved enormously after recharging it to some extent, then unplugging it. See my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28742643&postcount=297
I've had my phone unplugged for an hour now after the last partial charge, and it's actually gone from 48% then to 51% now, as the battery is still recalibrating.

Hey guys, I'm using the iPhone 6 plus now and I'm seriously thinking about switching back to android. Just can't stand iOS. My only concern is the battery life since I got excellent battery life on the 6 plus. From the reviews every reviewer says it's very good battery life but I need to hear real experience from actual users here. How is the standby time? Screen on time? Please stock rom only and please post screen on time and overal battery screenshot. Thanks!!

My iPhone 6 plus has exceptional standby time so it gives me a feeling that the battery is endless. For example, how much juice does the note 4 lose overnight? (7-8 hours)

Bluetooth and wifi always on, pebble connected, poor coverage area. I keep it set to pick up lte when available, but I only have edge where I live. I travel a lot though and still get good life when I actually get lte. I haven't tweaked anything (yet). Be warned that my first charge gave abysmal life. It wasn't until the second or third charge that I started getting decent life, so don't worry when your first charge runs to nothing after 8 hours.
Amen. I use powersaving, and you could always use the ultra power saving in a bind.

Around 0 to 1 percent. Maybe 2 if I get a bunch of notifications. My fiance has the iPhone 6 plus, trust me my note 4 destroys her iPhone in battery. With light to moderate use I'm easily getting 2 full days ( I send roughly 500-600 texts, maybe 20 emails, at least 20 phone calls, navigate to appointments and I'm always on pandora....also I have a moto 360 connected all day). When I'm doing heavy usage I get about 24 hours or so. But my heavy usage is actually HEAVY. I can almost guarantee you don't use your phone more than me. You will be fine with battery life.

I turn on power saving mode at 100% when i go to bed, and when I wake up 5 hrs later I'm usually at 99% or 98%. Without power saving mode, I wake up to 96%.
I can easily get through a full day at Disney World (about 8 hrs) with light usage - mixed use of wifi and 4g, checking the disney app and checking my farmville farm, and checking feedly. I usually leave Disney with about 50% juice left. Brightness on auto, wifi on, bluetooth off, gps on.
I've tested streaming as well. On 4g, starting at 100% charge, I can stream about 4 hour long episodes on Netflix, on Plex it's usually a little longer than that before it hits 50%. At home on wifi, I can stream about double that amount before hitting 50%.
I'm pretty happy about the battery life, and the best part is I can always remove the battery if this one goes bad, or bring spares on trips. I can live with Touchwiz if it means I can have removable batteries, sd card, and the pen.

I've done multiple tests on this. I will charge it up at night 100% then leave it off charger for the night, look in the morning. I'm averaging 3-4% discharge per night which is not too bad. My Nexus 5 was a ridiculous 10-15%. Still nothing close to iPhone that just doesn't go down if you don't use it.
I leave all things on. Don't really want a phone that acts like a 2002 device.
Hey all,
Ok So My battery is at 23% with 4 hours 45 min of screen time and it's been of the charger for 1 day 20 hrs 15 min and 20 sec
The phone charge so fast and it is amazing. I dont know if I want to do that in the long run bc fast ch arging is bad on battery!
I have a nice battery charger and it says charging the battery slow will last longer per charge and longer life cycle itself too.
So what do you do?

I returned the iPhone and have used the Note for 2 days now. Battery is... Well, not as good as I expected. At least not comparable to the iPhone 6 plus. But I don't sweat on this since it does take quote some time for Android battery to kick in. I kinda wish Samsung didn't push the pixels since it's truly a battery drain. Also the GPS drains battery too. These 2 functions on the iPhone are very efficient.
And yes fast charge is wonderful. I say don't worry about the battery since it's fairly cheap.

Simple fixes.
1.) Make sure you screen brightness is on auto
2.) Put on a background that is dark, or mostly black
3.) Set your location to device only (GPS only)
4.) Turn the run time to ART
You will easily see an increase in battery life.
Below is my normal battery life. And an example of a good background to use.
Had about 5.5 hours of screen on time.

I actually switched from GPS only to power saving. I have quite a few email syncing tho. One interesting thing... Are you sure we should be on art? I heard its not fully compatible.

ART bogs down my phone so I don't use it. Also during boot up, it take forever to finish as it tries to optimize some apps every time. About 39 on mine. This makes my phone super hot and there's no way to bypass this process. I say ART is a bad idea.
