Singapore new FW alert from Kies

I am currently of DXJG4. Plugged in to Kies today and it says there is a new firmware to upgrade. Could it be the frozen yoghurt?

What is the FW name ??

sure its not just the kies update? Else you should had written the fw when asking if its froyo. How else could anyone answer?

Not kies. There's a page popup that says upgrade will wipe data blah blah. Have to check agree to proceed. But it did not say name of fw. Will upload screen shot when I get home tonight

I did not get that... What is your kies version. Kies is really nonsense to begin with.

Okay, below is what I see when I click on the upgrade firmware button. As you can see, it didn't state what's the name or version of the FW. I really dun want to upgrade if it's not froyo as I am very happy with my current JG4. If anyone in Singapore (Singtel) tried, please let me know what FW is it.

That's standard text even if there is no new FW!

The screenshot doesn't reveal anything about the firmware. You have to proceed to where it shows your current firmware and the firmware it wants to upgrade to. Don't worry, you won't upgrade the firmware untill you tell it to on that screen.

Apologies all. When I clicked upgrade, it goes on to tell me I already have the latest firmware ... BTW, I have never seen that screen before. Previously it will straightaway take me to the screen that shows the FW version. Really pai seh..

OK I'm also from Singapore(Singtel) and I when through the upgrade from Kies.
This is what I get in the end.
Model name:GT-I9000
Current VersionDA:JF4/PHONE:JF4/CSC:OLB
The latest version is already installed on connected device.
My Kies version 1.5.3.10093_80
No upgrade!

For a moment, I almost tot froyo was here..'....haha false alarm

I see Kies has a new update today it's now version 1.5.3.10093.81 or is this old news?
I am currently running I9000XXJPK with the lag fix and it has worked flawlessly for 3 days now.

Yes, this is strange. According to Android HK, the official one should be JPD. Better to double check.

Guess it's on its way. I'm wondering how the update will roll out to Wifi only versions or the tablets that aren't currently using a carrier.

Today i got a message thru Kies that i could update my firmware to gingerbread (although the message gave a series of numbers and letters). I tried to update my Tab, but after downloading, the installation of the new firmware failed. Could that be because i have my Tab rooted? How do I solve this problem. Your help will be much appriciated.

i think you should go to samfirmware and flash your old rom then maybe u can update
or if u've already ur stock rom and u just root it . u just do hard reset factory , then am sure u can update

Agreed. Let us know if you have any more issues.

Thanks for your quick help. I will do a hard reset as i have stock rom witch i have rooted in order to make backups, use droidwall and Samba. Titanium backup can prove its use now :-D

i'v gingerbread installed already on my tab
but really really i wanna do the update from kies
i think i'll flash a stock rom then i'll do the update maybe tomorrow or after
just to try how its work on xD

Hi can you try the one click root andsee if it works for ginger bread it did work for my samsung galaxy s2 on gingerbread please let us know thank you.

Iam in a strange condition whenever i connect my tab to kies it says this version of firmware cannot be update.

Its the same firmware.

Hopefully, Samsung will push it over WiFi... If not, the good people of XDA will inevitably provide a ROM on here. You will either get it in a timely manner or have to hold your balls and ROM it (if you haven't done it before). Even if you have, it can sometimes be a scary procedure.
Short answer... Yes. Long answer... Above.

hmm any word on how far the update is? is it still only italy that got it?
Dont really wanna use odin to update our 120 Galaxy tabs (or the 300 that we are getting in ~1 month time).

The only qualm I have is loosing the phone function of the tab if we ever get a honeycomb update. I hope samsung provides an app for that.

I use sipgate with the sipdroid app to push calls over VOIP. Works well enough for me. Can send and receive calls. I am only on WiFi so I imagine, it'd work that much better over the 3G network.
As far as a possible release date? No idea... Their words are that they'll start mid-May through Kies in Europe and it'll feather out. Since Sprint versions don't work with Kies, it may up to Sprint to push the updates here (which may take a long while) or if Samsung is really aggressive, maybe we'll see it through them.
Since Kies is the main avenue of pushing it, I wouldn't anticipate it soon. May be worth following the Honeycomb ROM (DONATE TO THIS CAUSE) and taking the time to flash it. Then brag that you have cheap Honeycomb Galaxy Tabs for sale in your store.

Im pretty sure we will get it, cause i9100 was released after the 18month update plan for each new device was announced by google. And samsung is in this agreement too.

no u cant because they have different kernel as i know

lemme just say it is possible to get INT rom working on korean SGS2s but with some working around.

I would but don't know how to download it . But no way I'm flashing that with Odin, that would be just stupid. It probably includes bootloader, so flashing a M205s or whatever bootloader on GT-9100 doesn't sound terribly smart.

Why not just wait a few more days for official ROM? Are you that eager to get a paperweight?

So, I may actually stick with 2.3.6 for awhile.
