[Q] Factory reset deleted contacts - Intercept General

Just factory reset a Samsung Intercept. Half of the contacts were deleted, N-Z, but A-M are still there. They were deleted from gmail.
I cant figure out how to get them back, I tried to use the gmail restore feature, to as far back as 30 days ago, and still only a-m are there.
What happened? How can I get them back?
I didn't have a backup because I thought google was the back up.

Try this, my wife had all her contacts "deleted" by the froyo OTA.
Open up contacts and hit menu > display options
her section here had nothing checked (ie: nothing displaying). i checked everything off and saved and they all showed up. good luck!
EDIT: oooh wait, i just read that, it sounds like you might have been saving contacts to the phone and not directly to google, thats why they disappear when you factory reset (ie: wipe data), not too much you can do i dont think

Phone asked for google pass then kinda crapped out. Can I get my contacts back?

I'm using whatever the latest version is of JF's rom. I'm not exactly sure what happened. My phone said it couldn't log into google, and some box came up asking for my password (it wasn't a pop-up from the browser). It wouldn't send so I restarted the phone. It then went to the initial startup screen you see when you first get the phone, so I put in my name and pass and it started up. Everything seems to be alright, but my contacts are gone. I tried the import from sim option but there's only the defaults in that.
I've been using the JF rom for at least a month now with no problems and haven't done anything that I don't normally do that would cause the phone to crap out.
Every now and then I go into applications and clear out the junk the phone stores up for things I don't even use (any way to remove "myfaves" by any chance? I don't have any "faves" and don't want any "faves"). If I clear the contacts option, does that delete my contacts? I might have done that by accident, although this was way earlier when I first woke up. Either way my phone just crapped out so I'm hoping it's not on its way to becoming a paper weight.
Help, please?
Log into your GMail account and you can check to see if your contacts are still present there.
Oh wait I got it!
I selected all in gmail, move to my contacts, and turned on auto sync on my phone. I thought there was a way to manually sync like with gmail in case you don't want to run your battery down for no reason. Now I just have to sort through all the auto-added emails and delete them and I'm set, at least until the phone has another near-brick experience.

[Q] Can't Remove Facebook From My Accounts

I have a Facebook account in "My Accounts" on my Droid X but it does not have a username. The field is blank. When I select remove account, it does nothing. Then when I click OK, it states that the username must not be blandPassword must be at least {1} characters. Also, when I try to add another facebook account with my correct email address, it won't let me stating that I can only have one account. What is the cleanest way to fix this? Do I have to factory reset my Droid? I have clockwork mod installed and it's rooted. Do I need to clear data and cache?
hey man you have sbf or i did. i did a reset and it didnt do anything so i did sbf and back again like new
Don't have an SBF. I was hoping to find a way to remove the account a little less intrusive. I'm not opposed to using an SBF but I'm not sure how to find a clean one. I'm on Verizon Ver 2.2

Uninstall the app.
Go into the android settings > accounts. Delete the facebook account.
Reboot.
If you want to add facebook back in, make sure you uncheck the "sync" box when you set it up, next time.
/If that fails, try doing a factor reset. Settings > Privacy > Factory Reset. You'll lose all of your settings and start from scratch this way, so make sure you back up anything you're concerned about.
Many thanks. The factory Reset did fix the problem. After the factory reset, the market downloaded all my apps again. My contacts were all there, not sure if they didn't get cleared or were just recovered from the Verizon Contacts backup. The bad facebook account is gone. Everything is cool again in Android land. Couldn't have been easier, you just have to know who to ask. Thanks again.

Where's the stock rom?

I'm so sick of the problems with these custom roms, I'm going back to stock.
LOL cute. Did you make a nandroid backup? If so you can restore from that, if not go to HTC's site and get whatever "stock" ROM you'd like.
Also, have you tried troubleshooting your ROM woes? It could be some ID-10 T error which a wipe typically clears. I've made this error a great many times.
P. S. I'm running CM nightly, and it's been relatively stable. So I'm sure the final release will be far more stable.

factory 2.2.1
I ran every rom, every kernal, every version, wiped, backed, burped and farted.
It's all over not being able to delete a Google account. God damn Google and their infinite wisdom.
not sure what you mean by delete a Google account
Two gmail accounts on one phone. The default needs to go. Google won't let me delete it without a wipe.
So, I wiped all day and flash new roms, nothing works. Restored a nandroid and the phone works for the first time today but same old two account business.
We used to be able to delete the google account, (clear user data I think) but I guess not anymore. If I have to wipe to fix this I want a phone that works and right now stock is looking peachy.

do you have the accounts linked through gmail settings (on computer not phone) That's the only reason I can think of and could be really off..
if you do a full wipe, set up one of the accounts(the one you want) and if they both appear after that maybe they are linked in some way through email. I know you can link accounts but never used it and dont know how it works.. but I do remember seeing a setting when I was poking around gmail

If I wipe login one account it only shows one and that's fine but I have my phone the way I want it and took days to get it this way. CM7 RC1/ mixer and it's been running fine. I tried to wipe, install RC1/Mixer again, and it didn't work for me. I've been at this all day and not happy.
Here's the issue: The default account has no contacts, the other accounts has all my contacts. If I try to use better cut or any cut I can't see the contacts because both those programs look at the default contact list. Better cut sees nothing.
It's a stupid problem that should be an easy fix, delete one account and the other becomes the default. How I achieve this magical feat eludes me.
orrrrr you can import contacts to that default account and ur problem is solved? which can all be done from your computer in under 10 minutes.
Export from second account all contacts into a folder, then import into the first.
I use 2 gmails. I don't have any problems.

you dont know how to do something and you cuss out google for their "infinite wisdom" and all custom roms? i understand you're frustrated, man, but don't get mad and cuss people out. a little bit of kindness goes a long way.
quoted text will solve your problem. and its probably easiest.
if you really want stock, here's a nandroid backup of stock, as i think the previous link looses root (correct me if im wrong)

Reset Nexus S settings (including Online's)

Hello,
Having some different issues with my Nexus S, I've decided to freshly reinstall everything. I've deleted all data from SD/USB card, did a factory reset of the phone, then moved the full 2.3.4 ROM. After a successful install, it came to my surprise that the custom wallpaper that I've used before the format was there ! Same goes for a couple of settings that were probably saved online and then restored.
How to completely delete these settings that are stored online and perform some real clean installation ?
Thanks in advance !

thats because after you log in to your google account, your settings, wallpaper, and bookmarks got restored. you probably checkmarked a setting that allows google to back your stuff up.
Of course that is obviously the explanation. But is there a way to delete these online-stored settings ?

after you factory reset, while going through the setup before you get to the homescreen, dont enable google backup/restore.
Yeah but in that case I would lose all my contacts, right ? (I got my SIM card weeks ago and there's not a single contact on it)
no my friend, sync services is not the same as backup settings.
You can set sync sevices (contacts, calendar, mail, music, etc) in "Account and Sync" menu and set backup data (wallpapers, settings, wi-fi passwords, etc) in "Pricacy" menu.
you can also import your contacts from the gmail page via the desktop browser. press contacts and all your contacts are there.
Wonderful. Thank you guys for your answers
You can't really delete the WLAN settings, apps you had installed, wallpaper settings etc once they are in the cloud, you can just choose to not have them applied or restored. Deleting your Google account would anonymize those settings after a period of 6(?) months.

Lost all my contacts, can't retrieve them through google

Ok, so after I flashed my ROM to PA, and deleted all my data, it seems gmail decided to DELETE my contacts instead of uploading them back on my phone.
What's wrong with gmail? What's the point of syncing. Anyway, I have 0 contacts, and I went to my gmail that I used to sync my phone. I tried to retrieve contacts as I understood you can within 30 days. But no matter the time period I select, no contacts are restored. I flashed my phone on the 19th, yesterday, so they should be there.
Any way to retrieve them back?
I also happen to have a full backup w/ custom recovery made with nexus root toolkit. But I cannot seem to restore it (tried to restore it initially for my apps).
Clicking "Restore Nandroid Backup" does nothing, and trying to restore data/media does nothing after it takes 10-20 minutes doing it's thing.
Still, maybe I am missing something, isn't the whole point of google gmail is to keep your contacts synced and restore them if something happens with your device?
Hoping someone can help me out. I would like to contact google tech support but can't seem to find an email or number for support. Most likely they should still have them in their databases if at least its within 30 days.
Thank you
