No more landscape mode - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hey... My sgs cant recognise orientation anymore( landscape vs portrait), bubble level wont work, neither do compass. What happened overnight? Didnt drop it.... Just found tons of auto-updates. Maybe one of them caused it....
Autorotate is enabled btw... Got froyo too

I had this about a month ago. A full wipe should fix it. Although I have to admit I didn't look for other solutions very much at the time.

Twitching screen

I've noticed an annoying bug on my touch screen on my sgs2, and wondered if anyone else has this problem.
Basically, the problem seems to be able to be reproduced by, for example, scrolling the settings menu with your finger, then stopping, but leaving your finger pressed on the screen, as if you were holding it still with your finger. Mine seems to be twitching and moving around slightly, it doesn't stay still.
Not a big deal you may think... But if your an angry birds player or a player of any game or app that requires precision movements then this is an annoying bug.
I'm on ke1. Can anyone else try this for me? Cheers.
Mine had stopped doing it now... But, I have noticed it before, so it seems I have an intermittent problem / fault / bug. Anyway, can everyone post here if they notice this... It happens in every app I've used that involves scrolling.
Nope, mine doesn't do this. And I'm glad about it! Sucks man, trey flashing a different rom.

Are you using a non samsung charger?
This used to be a charger problem, should work flawlessly with the charger thats provided with the phone

Could be a glitch in the motion setting, if you go to settings>motion and test the one where you put you finger on the screen and tilt the phone and the background moves.

You using the samsung charger?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Depends on quality of electric supply out of socket as well as which charger in my experience.

Mine was on charge when it happened, and it still happened some time after, but it stopped soon after.
3rd party charger (I leave my sammy one at home, I'm just using a spare for work)....
Could be that then?

I had that problem in shaky tower. i just unticked automatic calibration option in settings of that game. then it worked properly.
check whether there is any calibration settings in doodle jump and try changing them
But i don't wanna just play Doodle Jump. I want that my Phone is calibrated...
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
It's because of the game. Just reset the game in the game's settings and hold your phone right.
i've had this problem to but when i reboot my phone on a flat surface it seems that my phone re calibrates the sensor maybe you can try this
Nothing Works -.-
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
the prob is not with sensor calibration but with the game.
when u start the game, place the phone on a flat surface and start it. it will work fine.
you gotta do this for all games that use the accelerometer
I tried to start it on a flat surface.. But it doesn't works..

Bottom touch buttons not as "touchy"?

Has anyone else seen this...my bottom "back" button (menu-home-back-search) seems to be much less responsive than it used to be...all the others seem ok... Is there a way to calibrate their sensitivity?

I don't think there is a way to calibrate those. But some thing you might want to add to the OP is what rom you are on maybe there is a setting that I don't know about.
I'm on mostly stock now... Tried out Thunderhawk's latest and saw no difference.... (with that at least)...

might be a hardware problem then. if you went back to stock and same thing is happening.
Yeah...my that's my guess too...likely that my phone just has a little hardware issue...it still works, but I frequently have to hit the back button 2 or 3 times to get it to register...sigh.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
its a hardware issue. My search button isn't as sensitive as the others. Good thing I don't use that often.

I wish MY search button was the one getting weak...I never use that thing! Sigh...

Phone call ics

Can somebody figure out how to stop the screen going into portrait when phoning, as its totally annoying when using the tab in landscape view. Worked fine with honeycomb so must be a way to prevent it happening.

I figured out this couple of days ago :
It remains in landscape mode in the following criteria :
1. Using your bluetooth connected keeps it in landscape.
2. Activating "Loud Speaker" also keeps it in landscape mode.
3. Connecting it to your ear phone also keeps it in landscape.
It only revert to portait in case you are using it directly on your ears.

It is working in these 3 modes in landscape for me as it should be, don`t really know what`s going wrong with yours.
Have you tried the ear phone or bluetooth ?
Ok thanks, I've sorted it now with the app auto speaker. Keeps it in landscape.
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
Was there a way to make auto speaker happen in ics or just the app I'm using autospeaker

It doesn't keep it in landscape mode when receiving a call though! Bummer

Momentary black screen

Anyone had this one? Since 4.2, the screen momentarily goes black, with a similar transition to hitting the task manage soft key, but transiting to the left in landscape, then flicks back to normal use. Happens in apps...screws up some games, puts others into pause mode as if a task has been switched. Thought it might have had something to do with auto rotation going a bit bonkers, but not sure....
Not heard any reports...have looked through the forum, couldn't find anything.
Weird...it just did it then....but the keyboard stayed on screen, xda disappeared to the left...
Any thoughts and thanks in advance

Thank God! Thought it was just me!

Ok..just happened again while in portrait mode. Definitely saw it flick to landscape. Rotation is locked btw.
Hmmmmm.....

It happened to me three times last night after update to 4.2 :crying:
Ok...so, while sitting in a tedious meeting, Nexus in landscape, propped up with its folding case the screened flipped upside down and stayed upside down. 3 times. My ipad using colleague giggled.
Any way to recalibrate the tilt sensor? Or any other suggestions?
It's not the end of the world but...there must be a patch solution or other? Before 4.1 I used the auto rotate app, I forget its correct name...
Thoughts?
Sent from my GT-I9100P using xda app-developers app
I used logcat to monitor the Nexus 7 until the random rotation happened. After looking at the log I realized that it was always the same process being activated and that process was nVision.
Since nVision always rotates into landscape mode I was suspicious that perhaps when it tried to update itself in the background it was changing the screen orientation. I disabled notifications and then uninstalled the app and the problem has completely gone away. I have had no random rotations at all in the last 24 hours.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks very much. Ill give it a try and report back
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Okie doke.
For the record.... 48 hours and no random flips to landscape and back. I'd be willing to be a substantial amount of money this was the culprit. However, whether this is a 4.2 issue per se vs. Bad behavior in nVision is an open Question.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Ok. Disabling nvision notifications still flips out. Will uninstall later.
Thanks again
Sent from my GT-I9100P using xda app-developers app
Uninstall it. I still think it checks in and screws your screen, whether it shows you the notification or not.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Uninstalled...all good so far. Woooooo!
Cheers!
