USB memory Stick - A7 General

Does Elocity A7 support NTFS file system? I have problems accessing my USB stick which is formatted in NTFS...or something else may be an issue !?!. In any event it can not read it...any suggestion?
Regards

Upgraded firmware and now when USB memory stick is plugged in I am getting a message the it is being checked for errors....but data on it so far cannot be accessed...Anybody else has issues with reading memory stick thru USB port?...SD card works like charm...
Regards

When I first got mine I was using my key which is fat32 and ran into the same problem. I had to reset the device before I could use my usb stick again. Haven't tried an NTFS usb device but either way it's not on the a7 to support NTFS, it is Android's task.

It would be interesting to know if other people had problems of accessing USB memory stick...for me memory stick would be much easier mean of exchange software/data between PC and Elocity than microSD.
Regards

I found out that if memory stick is formated as FAT32 then Elocity has no problem reading it...

USB memory stick
I have no problem accessing my USB stick, my problem is transfering the data like music or movies into folders which Elocity a7 doesn't allow me to do.
I have tried coping and or moving files i.e., songs, movies, am I doing something wrong or is there a right way to do it?

You can copy files from USB to SD card...only file by file not directories
The other way is to pull out your SD card and copy files on it using adapter on your PC
The third way is to use application which lets you access your Elocity using your browser on your network which will then allow you to copy files to/from device
Regards

My a7 originally could mount and read the sd card and the usb drive. Then one day it suddenly would not mount the sd card and it always said it was checking for errors. I tried a wipe and restore, formatting the card, and a different card. None of it worked. Finally I loaded Dexter's 1.41 mod. The mod worked great but the sd card still couldn't be mounted. And then the usb drive gave me errors and one time would work and another time it says preparing storage checking for errors. Right now neither the sd card or the usb are being mounted. After 4 emails to elocity support I am pretty frustrated with this unit and thinking of just ordering an ipad.

Do you apply the vold patch with 1.41? Also you have to have a folder/directory sdcard/sdcard-disk (sdcard-disk) is the one needed. This still won't allow card to be read from boot other then applying zips with sysrecovery. It has been mentioned before in another thread if your not running elocitys FW you can't really complain about it to them.
If that folder/directory isn't created it won't read with the patch. USB also has something about it. Read up on this thread.

Hello, I'm new here and I did experience some sort of USB or MicroSD issue where the eLocity unit did read the USB at first and then the next time I put the USB flash drive it cannot read it, no matter what I do. Then I hit the reboot key at the back using a pin or something sharp and I tested both drives and it did read them.
I learn that before removing the USB FD you need to dismount by tapping the connection icon to safely remove the USB. You will then receive a message to confirm the removal of USB drive.
I hope this help.
Peace....

Mounting SD card

So, i had a rooted mytouch with a custom rom.. Pretty familiar with the android OS. LOVING my nexus, except for this stupid problem. (its no my SD card btw, works fine in my girlfriends droid)
Anyways, i cannot mount my SD card when i am plugged in my computer... I am out of ideas. Anybody have the same problem?
what happens when you try to mount it? please provide more info!
i have the same problem, the only time where it'll let me mount my SD Card is when i put it in developers mode.
If I recall correctly from the user guide, you have to pull down the notification area on the phone and tell it to connect via USB. After this you should be able to mount the SD card. Again, if I recall right.
I wish i can tell you more but.. thats it.
You connect the phone via USB. Pull down the notification menu and there is NOTHING there. I cant try to mount it, i don't even have the option to mount it.
Should i record a video of it?
It should at least recognize that it is connected through USB, it does not. I put my SD card in another phone, hooked it up via usb, transfered all my stuff, then put the SD card back into my phone and EVERYTHING works, it reads it fine. I just cant mount my card from my notification menu. Its empty.
*edit* I have also installed the latest USB drivers from the SDK update, still cannot mount my SD card... I am starting to think the problem is deeper for some reason.
I think I'm having the same issue as the op. I downloaded the latest driver and the computer recognize my Nexus One, but oddly the drive the SD card is suppose to show up in is saying I have no SD card. Whenever I try to open up the F Drive(Nexus One SD card) it tells me to no media. Not sure if I'm explaining good enough.

are you connecting it directly into the computer? if not try doing so. If you are connecting it to the computer try a different USB port.

[Q] USB transfer to SD Card buggy?

I've just got a 32GB Sandisk Class4 MicroSD and my transfer speeds are horrible when mounted over USB.
Also after some time, the transfers may fail, and the mount is no longer reachable. I.e. you can no longer browse it through My Computer.
When this happens, the phones interface grinds to a halt, and I need to restart it. Key strokes will take seconds to come up, etc.
I've tried reformatting the SD card, reinstalling Kies to get the latest USB driver, but the speeds still the same.
I found if I manually did "safely remove hardware" for the Android internal SD mount, the speed is a bit faster.
Any ideas?
Try adding the phone as a USB mass storage with USB Debug On, also use only the supplied Samsung cable and finally did you format the card in the phone before you started using it?

I couldn't find that, but ran H2TestW, which managed to write all the files fine but had read errors.
Not sure if that is because I have it going through the phone, maybe I should try an SD card adapter to the PC?

MAGLDR USB Mass Storage Damaged SD Card

I understand that MAGLDR's USB Mass Storage isn't most people's first choice, and that it can be flaky at times, but I've used it without problems in the past.
However, the last time I used it, installing drivers took an abnormally long time, and I just canceled USB Mass Storage and went back to the menu. However after that, the SD Card is complete unrecognized in the phone, and when using an adapter plugged in to the computer directly, it tells me the SD Card cannot start.
It looks like the controller on the card is damaged. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this occurrence. I honestly think it's more likely that the controller breaking was the cause, not the effect. Perhaps that's why it was taking so long to install drivers?
damaged/faulty SD Card readers do happen, have you tries to delete the partitions and reformating the SD Card.
I have lost 2 cards with my HD2 and am currently on the 3rd, I have no explanation but thats the wat it is

External SD Card contents not displayed when I connect tablet to PC??

OK, something weird just started happening. For some reason, my Win 7 PC will not display the contents of my micro sd card when I connect my A500 to my pc. My pc recognizes the connection as soon as I plug it in, the dialog box asking if you want to open the folder comes up, all of the files on the internal sd partition are viewable, but when I click on the ext sd card it opens and nothing is displayed. I took the micro sd card out of the a500 and put it in a usb reader and everything was fine. All files were there and accessible. I even ran checkdisk on it and defragged it. I stuck it back in the a500, rebooted, and connected it to the pc and still nothing is displayed when I click on the sd card. This wouldn't be a big deal but now it makes it real difficult to move any files to my a500 from my pc. I have to copy it to internal memory and then move it to the ext sd using a file manager on the a500. If anyone knows of a solution please chime in.
My a500 is currently running a stock rooted 3.2.1 with all the latest updates installed.

I had similar problem to u except I only had internal storage showing on PC. You can try this - Remove micro sd put it in a usb reader and transfer any file to it, I just used an apk, put it back in tab, connect USB to PC, uncheck USB debugging and you should have access to both internal and external sd.
The weird thing is i'm sure i never had to disable USB debug before I could see external contents. In Device Manager under Portable Devices if USB debug is checked my tab shows up as "MTP" and will not show in win exp. If I uncheck it then it shows as "Acer ICONIA TAB A500" and I can access . Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour??? I'm running rooted stock 3.2.1/Win 7. thanks
I had similar problem with no external SD card display when I connected my tablet. Recently, I updated the Android SDK and all of a sudden, my PC displays the external SD card. I am currently using rooted Honeylicious 3.2.1 with the latest recovery RA 3.14

I'll try that, I am running the exact same thing. I have run several roms before going back to stock rooted and I believe the stock rooted was displaying it properly. I can't think of what might have changed on my computer but I will hunt down the android sdk and download it and see if that changes. I have tried several different drivers for the acer with no improvement.
Similar Issue
I have a similar issue. The Music folder doesn't show up, but all the other folders and files are available.
I noticed when I select properties of the sd card in windows explorer it says under file system: Generic Hierarchical. What the hell is that?? Shouldn't it say FAT32?? Also, up on the top or the windows explorer windows when you have details selected under view it has Name, type, size, track number, and artist as the headers. Luckily, I backed up the sd card the other day to my computer so I'm going to take the sd card out and format it and copy everything back and see if that fixes it.
Anybod work out how to fix it I am using stock 3.2.1 and contents of external sd not visable from pc. Internal sd shows contents no problem.
I Think this is a issue due to the original format of the sd card. I to had a similar issue.. I copied everything off the sd card into my pc to back it up.. then put the card into my android phone and formatted it.. Put card back in win7 pc copied files back to card then put it back in the tablet.. CONNECTED usb cable and all is well.. this was months ago. The issue started all at once for me as well. And i do know the card was originally formatted in my pc... This was talked about alot with flashing rom issues as well as not seeing card thru adb..
This is worth a try .. LET me know if it work or not..
Erica Renee.. the BLONDE ANDROID CHIC WATCHING OVER YOU..
no, didn't work for me erica - the weirdest thing is I can see everything fine from my win7 laptop but not on my win7 desktop - until I disable USB Debug then everything is fine??? I think my issue is drivers - i'm loathe to change them tho as it took forever to get ADB working successfully and not too much of a prob to disable USB debug - it would be nice if someone was able to come up with a definitive solution tho
acer uses mtd in order to sync your data. It also allows you the tablet to continue using the internal memory while allowing access to it at the same time. If you are to change it from mtd to a regular drive then the Acer sync will not work and you will lose access to the memory from the tablet while connected to PC.
I believe I read the sdcard slot was only there to allow you to copy items to the tablet. Maybe they changed it with a early update.
When it is in mtd mode the system does not see the memory directly. That is why you do not see fat32. Just Google mtd storage and you will understand.

Moto X Style OTG not working as expected aftet Marshmallow, how do I fix it?

Ok, So I used to use a moto G. On that the OTG used to work like the usb on my laptop plug in a Fat32 drive and it'll easily read and write to it no problem.
But I switched to a Moto X Style with marshmallow and when I first connected a Fat32 formatted pendrive it asked me to reformat it to make it work on the phone. Which I did, after that in ES File explorer theres another folder within the root of the USB drive to which I can write but those files cant be seen on my computer or any other computer for that matter, just the phone. Cant even see that folder anywhere else.
??
What the hell is up with the OTG? How can I access my drives without having to format them and retain write capability as well as the ability to read my written files on windows and what not? Its a new phone so I do not want to root it.
Thanks for the help.
You may have messed up somewhere by formatting it into internal storage or something.
Backup all files from the pen and format it in you pc to either fat32 or exfat depending on drive capacity and needs, eject it and plug it into the phone. It should work fine, also always eject drive before disconnecting it from the phone and if your pc says the drive has issues and wants to fix them ignore it.

Well it formatted it as portable storage. I tried reformatting to Fat32 from my computer but the same thing happened it wouldnt open unless I formatted it for the phone. What gives? And yeah I know microsofts error thingy does more harm than good.
UPDATE:
Its working now, reformatted using my windows machine. Was using a mac before but for some reason the phone just doesnt like the way the mac reformats it. However my SanDisk ultra dual usb still wont work. Time to buy a new otg pendrive.
