Microsoft has just confirmed that the next major revision of Windows, what we'll call Windows 8 for now, will include ARM support

Microsoft announced that the next version of Windows will support System on a Chip (SoC) architectures including ARM-based systems from partners NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments.

So now it will be possible

If Windows Phone 8 is an improvment over WP7 just like Windows 7 was with Vista
Then I'd say yes!!!
Eg: Window 7 runs good on my netbook where's Vista hogs like crap!

I'm not talking about Windows Phone, but actual Windows.

hmm, yes - hoping to have a dual core tegra 2 by then which should zip along quite nicely running windows.

By the time Windows 8 rolls out, we will probably be up to quad-core Cortex-A15 processors. Which sound much better suited for running Windows 8.

Will be nice to see a Windows 8 Build on the HD2... but the leaked Win8 versions are not the ARM version yet!

Windows 8
I just got a hold of BETAs of windows 8 if anybody (DEVS) needs it i can send the links,, PM me
PS I only have a netbook can't run WM so i can't test it for legit. but is worth.the try.. I think.

[release] Linux ROM Kitchen

Linux ROM kitchen is a tool that allows you to cook your own Windows Mobile ROMs for HTC Windows Mobile devices. This means you can extract the contents of a Shipped or Dumped ROM, and add/remove files or Packages into the ROM.
It consists of several tools, most of them can be run separately from command line, altough they are all nicely put together in a GUI.
Basic knowledge of ROM cooking is expected, it helps if you have played with similar kitchens available for windows before, and know a bit of the internals of WinCE OS.
Use it with CARE. If you don't know what you're doing you can brick your device. USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

yes, almost the same functionality as other windows kitchens. It's compatible with exisiting OEM packages from other kitchens too.
Ubuntu 64bit
FYI this does work on Ubuntu 8.04 64bit.
Just install with sudo dpkg -i --force-all name.of.deb
It gripes about some dependencys but they can all be found with apt-get.
Great job pof, you have made my day. No more more borrowing my gf laptop top just to flash my phone.

To install any .apk wirelessly to your device is super easy. First you will need to have "ADB Wireless" installed on your phone from the market.(Yes, it requires root) Then once you run it, it will give you the IP address of your phone, along with the port number.
Go into the settings menu of the Package Installer program and type in the info.
Then make sure the install via wireless option is checked, and you're good

hmm, I've been able to get it to work just fine with and without admin. UAC should still be off for that to work.
Looks pretty useful. I was thinking of a way to get an APK install over a network/internet IP rather than locally. This looks more practical

Microsoft promised to support ARM devices for Windows 10, but as of now, support isn't there yet.
Also, Devices that will support Windows 10 must have their bootloader written to support Windows 10.

I doubt that is going to be happening. They said that there will be no Windows 10 upgrade for Surface Windows RT users - so if they wont even support their own products, then there is no chance they will support other ARM based devices. If you bought a Surface RT, you're stuck with that OS unfortunately.

As far as official statements go, Microsoft never reported to kill support for the Windows RT line... They however stated that they are working on an update to the Surface which will have some of the features that Windows 10 has and will have.
I don't think they will ever kill the support for the RT line.. If they do, the that is just pure BAD Marketting. They will however do something that will make the new RT line OS still exist but in the Different name that doesn't outcast it from the rest of the Windows 10 line.
Maybe they would develop a Windows 10 variant that would be usable on the surface and the Windows phones.. And still call it Windows 10 <variant/edition>. It's good Marketting.
I cannot, however prove anything yet seeing as the Windows 10 for Phone technical preview hasn't come out yet.
Thanks for the responses,
Did you hear about ChangeMySoftware which is allowing users to convert their any android to Windows 8 ?
I got the feedback from them that said they will be adding win10 soon .

Thanks again !

Please let us know how you did that. What image did you use and how did you extract the key and use it for the new install? I suppose its good to have a recovery partition but since these tablets don't have them, reinstallation is a hassle.
I haven't made Win 8.1 key backup, because officially you can't get or install Windows with bing anyway. I was planning to use recovery partition.
Though as I have found out later there are leaked Windows with Bing builds on torrents. It will install and activate automatically on all devices, that originally came with Win 8.1 with Bing, you don't even need to enter a key. I checked SHA1 match on MSDN, though I can't provide exact link to image here.

No, everything works fine, even better after fresh install.
I'm using Windows 8.1 with Bing x86. and Onda V975W drivers pack. You can find all info and links in my Win 10 thread.

Only Win 10 bugs like on all PCs.. There are no Metro IE, some Metro apps runs really slow or lag.
Slow & 128Gb MicroSDcard isn't recognised
I've just installed Windows 10 B10074 on my Onda, but it's terribly slow. Also the 128Gb SDcard isn't recognised. Too bad, I've expected the SDcard to work properly. Anyone else with the same issue?
Edit: I've just noticed that the battery indicator isn't working as well.

by the way, same product key: yes it's the same, it works on any windows 10 of any machine but it needs an add-on then you will have a life-time activated windows 10 with a secure activator
the missing 3rd PARTY add-on in v1.0-Build1 is the problem, so i'll add it in the next build

Hi,
probably OneDrive found KMS-Pico inside my app and saying it's a virus, while here on my computer i'm using the whole app and nothing is a virus
to use KMS-Pico you have to disable security programs, (as KMS-Pico makers say)
and Virus is not always damaging, KMS-Pico is installed on my computer... nothing is damaged, i activated windows using KMS-Pico + using my app, 3 times, as screenshot shows "Windows is Activated"

then what? did you make it? can you even made it? if your answer is no the shut this thread right now! are you blind or something? its clearly written on top of this website, this is development section! only dev allowed to made a thread regarding their own project. not for some kids who wants to feel special coz they use different os and begging dev every single day.
I think its better to port MM or N than Ubuntu if possible.
