[Q] Wi-Fi network to 7 Inch Tablet connection question - HD Mini General

Hi all
Hope someone can help
Bought my son a 7" epad/tablet for Christmas.
Problem is when I set up a Wi-Fi network on my HTC the tablet wont find/see it.
I have no problems linking my HTC phone Wi-Fi network to my laptop if I am out. And the epad/tablet finds my home internet Wi-Fi and hotspots outside home with no problem.
So I know the Wi-Fi network on my HTC phone works
And I know the tablet can see Wi-Fi networks.
The tablet just will not find my HTC one.
Does anyone know why or what I need to do to get around this issue please?
My only thought is that the HTC is on 3G and thats why?
Kind regards

HTC HD2 can't see ad-hoc wifi network HELP!

Hi, I am using windows vista, and after set up computer to computer ad-hoc with internet sharing enabled, my HTC HD2 won't detect it? Any solutions?
The obvious.. In the advanced wifi settings on the phone, start by making sure it's set to show both AP and ad-hoc.
I found it, thank you!
I have a similar issue, i don't see any wifi networks in my list but when i look on my laptop or my other phone there are plenty of wifi networks around. Would anyone know what i need to select as my adapter under the Configure Network Adapters... or anything else that might solve my issues?
Thanks
well i've got the same problem,my us hd2 can't find wi-fi networks, i guess that happened after upgrading rom to 3.14.531.1, but i'm not sure. i try it at my work where signal is very good, also at home, and at my friens home where wi-fi is working for sure and still my phone doesn't see anything. please help (

This is a BIG Deal!!

This phone doesn't support ad hoc wifi connections? I'm currently on travel overseas and I can't seem to share an Internet connection with my laptop (connected via LAN) or iPhone 3GS (local 3G service). Has anyone been able to detect an ad hoc wifi network with this phone.
I can detect ad hoc networks with 3rd party wifi apps on the marketplace but when I attempt to connect, it directs me to the general wifi settings screen where the network is gone!!
Anyone else with this issue?
Did you ever see that it was an international phone?
WTF?? I'm talkin about a Wifi connection here buddy...lol. The EVO 4G doesn't detect or connect to ad hoc wifi networks. That's the topic...
while i dont know if it does or doesnt...i could believe it...because there is a few phones out there that dont - blackberry is one.
The wireless tether app for Android makes it into an ad hoc device.
But the problem is that it won't DETECT an ad-hoc device. Interesting. So if I had, say a hero with WiFi tether enabled, I wouldn't be able to see the WiFi with my EVO?
I don't connect to ad-hoc networks myself, unless I"m trying to tether something (the only use I can see.) Interesting that the EVO can't see them though, they should still show up..huh.
Seems to be some type of security feature on the device (WiFi Scanner app detects) that prevents it from detecting ad hoc wireless networks. My PS3 also has the same issue. Just wanted to point it out the issue...perhaps we need to root to manually connect?
just to be clear, you're trying to share your laptops internet with your Evo?
Yes, the laptop has Internet access via LAN and I am using the built in ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) Wifi Sharing on Windows Vista. Every other device I've had before had no issue detecting the network...I can see the access point right now on my iPhone and iPod Touch :-/
Found this workaround:
http://www.soligard.com/technology/how-to-connect-htc-hero-to-ad-hoc-wifi-network/
I'll try this later and report back.
I don't know if I'm experiencing the same problem but maybe someone can tell what I'm doing wrong. I rooted my phone by unrevoked and installed the Android-Wifi-Tether program. I've activated the program and it's sending out a signal. I then use my Windows Vista comp. to located it and it shows my phone as an "Ad-Hoc Network" when I connect to it, it says your computer is not configured for this. I'm not sure now what I should do, is there a problem with my EVO, or this something I need to do with the computer.
OP you are absolutely correct. I actually was trying the exact example you stated. I had created an ad-hoc wireless hotspot/network via Wireless Tether App on my Hero and my EVO just plain did not see it. It saw a million other networks that were much farther away, but not my Hero that was right next to it. This is unfortunate. Hopefully a workaround is found soon.
A lot of devices don't connect via an Ad Hoc network... which makes me wonder what its purpose even is :/ One reason I submitted the idea (true wifi hotspot) I did to the WP7 app contest.
This is what made me return my Archos 5 Android tablet and stick to my iPod Touch.
My scenario, i have a Sprint Treo and an iPod Touch (and iPad as well) and usually turn my Treo into a wifi router via wmwifirouter and use iPod Touch this way. Been doing this for years (with other devices too like the Nokia N800/N810), and wanted to test out Android. I got the Archos 5 tablet and was saddened not to be able to use my Treo's ad-hoc wifi. Back it went.
It seems that Android devices do not connect to ad-hoc wifi networks. Shame indeed. Also i think the Zune HD does not connect to ad-hoc as well.
Is it an O.S specific issue?

[Q] Wifi problem [can't see milestone's tether network]

Hi all,
I'm tring to connect my galaxy tab to internet through wifi tether on milestone and the tab can't see the milestone wifi network.
I know for sure that milestone's wifi tether works fine because I can use it with my laptop.
Anyone has the same issue?
How can I solve?
hi
i used the wifi hotspot of my desire and it worked great.
what i miss is the capability to find and connect to Ad Hoc's
(they just dont appear in the networks list on my tab)
maybe the milestone is creating a ad hoc.
Yes it is..
How can i make a different network type and fix it?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
Same here bro... ill look into it.
Yeah. Am having the exact same issue as well.
wifi problem (can't see tether)
Hi guyz,
Just opened my brand new Galaxy tab , I'm having the same issue: he doesn't see any tether network (from my windows mobile 6.1 htc p3650) neither any "ad hoc" network created from my laptop pc sony vaio.
On the xds forum I found this solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7711198&postcount=6
(originally created by "daveba")
and here there is a video with the procedure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5o5WlyA7WI&feature=player_embedded
Hope you (and me) will solve with this trick,
please report me any problems /other ways to fix
Thank you, good work
faredino
(more: I'm not sure that the galaxy tab can connect to other wi-fi network since I just unwrapped it and there are no other wifi net nearby!...hope it's not a problem of MINE TAB only!!! :O )

[Q] Wifi hotspot problem on HD2

I bought HTC HD2 last year then I sold it because I enjoyed iPhone 3gs more. Three 3 days ago I trade in my iPhone 3gs with 2nd hand HD2 lol. I like its big screen size as well as the Windows Reuter provided in there. But one problem I'm facing now is why my Samsung Galaxy S can't detect the wifi from HD2 wifi hotspot? But my iPhone and laptop can detect it,no problem. Until now I don't know how to solve this issue.
Motorola Xoom
I have the same problem with my Motorola Xoom. I have been trying to connect my Xoom tablet to my HTC Leo / HD2, but I am not able to locate the device. I am able to connect both my desktop an laptop to my mobile HD2 hotspot. If any one knows how to solve our issues, please help. Thank You....
Hi,
Similar problem here. I used the xda wifi sharing app to connect my laptop to the internet using my HTC TP2 but for some reason my Android tablet doesn't see the access point at all, just sits there searching.
Couldn't find a dedicated thread for this app though any ideas people?
Thanks
Jon

[Q] Nexus 7 and HTC Diamond2 wifi router problem

Dear all,
I have tried to use my HTC Diamond 2 phone as a wifi router but for some reason my Nexus 7 doesn't see the network at all. (my notebook sees it, and I can connect without any problem)
Do you have any idea what could be the problem?
Thank you
Okay, I have figured it out, that Nexus 7 (and maybe Android) doesn't allow ad-hoc wireless connections, I know a method to bypass this problem but it involves rooting, are there any other options?
Thanx
