[Q] need help: settings items not working after theme - Droid X General

I created a port of a tron theme for the 2.3.15 OTA. Right now it is only for framework, and I have simply swapped images and edited colors in xml files. I can no longer open Settings-->phone settings.
When I click it, it just goes back to my home screen. Any ideas what I may have messed up? The same thing happens for battery manager too...

Screen resolution

I messed with the screen resolution in the build.prop file and now its kind of stuck on an in between resolution, any ideas on how to get it back to stock? Everything works fine currently but some of the apps don't display correctly (don't fill screen) and notification bar 3g and bars are a little blurry.
Other than that looks pretty good when you use ADW launcher.
Running 2.2 and rooted.

Use ADB to pull the file, modify it, and push it back?
or you could just push the BACKUP of that file back to the phone. See, I KNOW you kept a copy of that file before modifying it, right?
I tried modifying the file and pushing it back and it didn't change.
Of course I have backup of original file on PC :-D. Guess I will try that next.

theming status bar

Ok so I've installed the Falcon Galaxy mod because I like the touchwiz interface. However I do not like the look of the status bar. I've read in other posts that all you need to do is go into the SystemUI.apk file of another mod and replace the drawable folders of the mod you're installing. I have tried the systemui for honeyvillain and for status bar mods for the galaxy and none of them seem to have worked. After I flash either the system ui app force closes over and over or some of the icons work and some don't. Can anyone help me out? I'm kind of new to editing apks.
I have changed 98%of my status bar with NinjaMorph successfully. I am using the Lenovo back, home, and menu buttons. I have also changed the battery, wifi and everything else except the clock color, which is beyond me at the moment. Give me a few and I'll post some pics.

Ok, Im now on my PC so I will post up some screnn shots to show what can be done with NinjaMorph.
oh cool, i thought that app was only for phones. thanks for the help!
No problem. When doing the systemUI.apk right after selecting whether or not you want to zipalign (sp) it, it will f/c. Don't worry, just power down and back on and should be good to go. Don't forget to backup first.

do you know what the name of the file is that determines the color of the status bar?
I don't. But looking through Res & systemUI like it is on my phone the status bar should be white by the images in mine. So it must be in an XML somewhere but I don't know about them yet.

hmm. any time i've tried replacing an xml file systemui stops working.
It doesn't come back after a reboot?

I gave up on falcon galaxy. It had a lot of bugs and trying to theme kept ending up messsing things up. I went back to HoneyVillain 1.2. I tried doing a Hue shift on all the status bar icons so that they'd be red instead of blue. It worked except that the popup that shows up when you tap the clock was all messed up. I'm not sure if it saved wrong or what but I suppose I can try again later.
Try my SystemUI Editor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289357
It lets you edit the SystemUI.apk file.
Although it's very limited at present, it lets you edit the navigation buttons on the status bar.
I'll continue adding to it.

Cm7 stock messaging app in TW ROM?

It has option to only show mobile numbers. That's the only thing I'm missing from CM7. Is it possible? Could I just overwrite the stock app with one pulled from CM7?

I replaced the stock mms.apk with the one from CM7. It worked, but as soon as I chose settings it force closed on me. Even after a reboot. The Messaging Icon also disappeared from the dock. I went back to the stock mms.apk but the Icon is still gone. Anyone know haw to fix that?
Never mind. I went into applications, pressed menu soft button and dragged the messaging icon into the dock. Geewiz 2.3 ROM.

Did you try pulling the one from comrom? It may work for you.
You need to change some resource id's for it to work properly. There are several things that won't match up. It should still work for most basic functions, but images and stuff won't match up properly between the cm7 framework and tw framework.

can't change wallpaper

so I installed the latest update for TiBu, and I performed a system backup. after completion, my wallpaper reverted back to stock, and when I try to change it by long pressing on the home screen and selecting wallpapers, I get an error message saying that the "app is not installed".
I also tried going into the gallery app, selecting a picture, and choosing "set picture as", the app force closes.
I tried using the stock launcher and the holo launcher, but to no avail. I was on the modded framework.apk, but even after reverting back to the original framework (and disabling LMT), I still cannot change my wallpaper. I'm wondering if TiBu had anything to do with it?
Is there an app that actually applies a wallpaper?
thanks!
Zedge allows you to apply then from within the app

Good idea. I was able to get it to work via picasa tool app.
Still odd that I could no longer do it from the home screen.

weird, so this happened again! I performed a system data backup via TiBu, and the phone's wallpaper went back to stock - still cannot long press to change the wallpaper (or change it via gallery).
my only work around is to upload a pic to my picasa album, and then set it from there.
has anyone had this issue? I'm guessing I'm missing some app?

This sounds like one heck of an obnoxious hassle. Are you using a stock launcher? If not, each launcher has their gestures and such for what long pressing the screen would do. I'm assuming you're using the stock launcher but if not, check the gestures on the custom launcher.

I'm trying to find the xml for the system menu background. I'm thinking it's in the system.ui but I can't seem to locate it. Any one know what the name is. Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by system menu, but there are a bunch of menus and pop ups drop downs in framework.. At least on the Samsung Phones... I just got the T217 and haven't had time to look they it.. but this week.com all over it... explain how I get to the menu I question and I'll look

When taping the left soft key a pop up box comes up with system settings. I'm talking about the background of the settings menu, ie sound, display, networks.
If this mean what I thinks on my l9 when I use to have stock rom I change some ui unzipping the systemui.apk on my pc and replacing some jpg and modifying it. Not sure if samsung will work but ofc I'll send you ui fc then restart phone ofcc remember after copy the modified ui set permission rw-r-r then reboot

I looked into themingmy my system ui but after digging around had no idea where the system menu background was. I'm on rooted stock right now. Tried Xblast but it didn't do it. Most of my stuffed is themed with Wanam and Xblast

Are you talking about the background or other stuff?
Im looking to do it on the stock rom, like the Black and White theme. If I could get Fast Dream working on my tab Id be set. Every time I try to install google now it boot loops.
