Tmobile doesnt even sell the device, so anything you wanna do about an exchange or return gotta do it with best buy, but if it is a defect you can call samsung

After 30 days you're out of the return/exchange period unless you are a premiere member, you have 45 days. So you would have to deal with Samsung unless you have insurance with whomever you got it with.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

with samsung, a repair can last anywhere from 7-14 business days says the rep lady.

I don't know about you guys but on the receipt when I bought mine, it says that all gift purchases have an extended return/extended policy until January 31st... hope it works for this.

I know but u know how fones have aa one yr warranty... lets say down the year like
In the summer something goes wrong ... so its Samsung I should call.??? Like I know T-Mobile when a phones starting to mess up they troubleshoot it and send another one...who or where would I have to do this after my 30 days...sorry if I'm not that clear on it

Register the phone with Samsung: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/account/regist
Then you wait until there's actually a problem before you start worrying.

[Q] Warranty exchange t-mobile , not purchased T-mobile

I have a Vibrant that was not purchased from T-mobile . It was brand new in the box. The phone is now having issues , (not from rooting etc...). Anyone have any luck getting a warranty exchange or do they look up your purchase records. T-mobile knows that I use the Vibrant.
Thanks
Call t mobile and they will have it on file as long as it's your name as the owner.when calling, choose the technical option and they will first ask if you trouble shooted then they'll send you another one.

I see no reason why you simply cannot call T-Mobile and ask. The phone's factory warranty should be honored providing you can show proof of purchase, and that whomever you bought it from purchased it legitimately. Even though the factory warranty is covered by Samsung, T-Mobile is the go-to for warranty issues within the first year. They will have records of the initial purchase.
I bought my old cliq off of craigslist and tmobile replaced it twice. Try calling them, it cant hurt.

The phone has a 30 day in-store exchange policy (Radioshack)
And a 1 year Samsung Warrant
Just tried T-mobile , no Joy.. The rep couldn't find a phone on the account so no warranty replacement. Guess I will try Samsung tomorrow
I too have done it when I had tmobile acouple of months back. Once you have used the phone on your account it registers on the network so you will not have amy problems doing it.

yes for a week
They should have record of it being used on the account then. Call tech support and have them go through the trouble shooting steps and if it fails to fix tour problem they should then issue you a warranty replacement.

Motorola refuses to repair xoom

Sent my bricked xoom in to Motorola a few weeks ago, they called today claiming it was not repairable, they are sending it back tomorrow. They didn't mention anything about it being rooted, just stated they will not cover it. I guess I asked for it.....

It's a sad day for you
This is why I got my 1 year warranty from Bestbuy. They cover it regardless of what I flash.
I wonder if there is any way to pull that off with the best buy warranty, any idea how long it is till you can no longer buy a warranty

You can purchase the Best Buy PSP (their black tie service plan) up until the day you can return your Xoom for a refund (30 days / 45 if you are a silver rewards member). With the Best Buy PSP you can literally trash your Xoom and they'll give you another one (stupid policy IMO). This includes rooting/hacking/flashing/doing whatever the hell you want to it.

You're making a smart decision. Unless you are 110% comfortable with development tools I would always advice against rooting and flashing custom software on your Xoom. In almost every single instance where I've seen someone come post about their bricked Xoom it was obvious that they didn't have the first CLUE what they were doing.
It was bricked by clockwork SD partition for some reason now they say they can't fix it
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
To OP, sorry to hear that. I had the same issue as you and the whole process from the day I called to the day I received the new Xoom was 7 days. I was kinda suprised, was thinking that I might have to pay for the repair. Maybe too many bricked Xoom sent in for repair with the same issue.

I wonder if it would be worth your while calling Motorola and explaining exactly what has happened, mention that you'd be willing to pay for a repair subject to cost? It would be a real shame if they can't help you out.
Motorola had my xoom for 3 weeks. Just got a call.from the customer advocacy office telling me it is not repairable and it is not covered under warranty, I offered to pay and they said no,
it is stuck at MOTO dual core, volume buttons are unresponsive

At this point if you got it covered under homeowners whats the point.
PS: I'd like to know how you got it covered for only a $50 deductable. Is there an addon to your insurance that covers electronics?
Yes there is a home computer and electronics add on for 15 bucks a year. Pretty much equivalent to best buys black tie warranty only better!! I didn't even know I had it till today. I pretty much wanted to post this as a warning, Motorola seems to have had enough but who knows. I figured they would replace it so they wouldn't get any bad publicity since sales are somewhat weak, but I was wrong. Oh well live and learn I guess

So you were hoping they would honor a voided warranty cause sales are weak? Don't want to be dickish but thats the risk we run rooting and flashing. It's like if i bought a new car put a blower on it and blew the motor. I couldn't take it back and say fix it. But glad to hear you found a way to get a xoom.
Not honoring a voided warranty is one thing; we all take on that responsibility the moment we unlock the device. Refusing to repair the device even if you are willing to PAY for the repairs is quite another. Hard to believe the thing is just a throw-away.
I have liberty mutual insurance, I sent it to Motorola not expecting anything but it can't hurt to try, I work in the auto business and we warranty a lot of things that are or should void the warranty but in order to keep happy customers and no bad press we just warranty it, I figured they might just fix it like they have for others, oh well, maybe ill post a YouTube video of it stuck at the MOTO screen and use it for Target practice Haha, or even start a site called WWW.trashmyxoom.com. Haha only thing to do now is laugh it off ....oh and don't do it again!

No, warranty is non-transferable in normal circumstances. Call Google for clarification, though

Why should it? If he owns the bill everything should be okay. Sold a phone once wich still was in warranty period. Just copied the Bill and everything was OK.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Might work that way in the US, but in the UK a warranty isn't always transferable regardless of having the original POP because the device is technically 2nd hand and most warranties state it's for the original purchase only - definitely that way for the company I work for. If the original owner registered the unit for warranty then you're screwed. If not, you might be able to get away with it
I live in the us. Any way to check online?

Yes you can...I had a similar issue...bought off craigslist...screen had major flicker issues....if you get a hold of the person who sold you the phone and have them give you the receipt..then you can RMA it only through LG because its from t-mobile...mine was bought from google so google has the RMA processed.

If you did not purchase the device from Google Play you'll have to contact LG for warranty service. http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-LGE960
If its from T-Mobile call customer care and get a warranty exchange if your phone line has the the device warranty.

Insurance

I have scroll down questions and answers for a while and I didn't see this question yet ,sorry if has been post before but I was wondering what insurance most of you got ?
pros and cons ?
BTW I'm on T-Mobile ,(not sure if it makes a difference)
I know most new phones are fragile not just the N4 so Im really thinking of getting insurance for this phone..
Thanks a lot

I don't get any. I never drop my phone and I'm responsible so it doesn't get left at bars or restaurants.
If you're doing something where your phone has a chance of getting damaged like working out, running, playing basketball, etc., just leave it at home.

Trust me , I over protect my investment as well , just got rid of my gs3 that I paid full retail price since the release date and it didn't have not one scratch NO where on the phone ,never dropped and clean it at least once a week ,but accidents do happen and to be honest I didn't really enjoy my s3 that way I should of cause I was really worried to drop it or scratch it so I always had a screen protector and a case so of course it made my display look different as well as the phone .

Unfortunate Event
I bought insurance because the last phone I had had a defect in the screen and it one day shattered. Anyway, I bought the nexus 4 and love it. Had it in a case until the other day. Dropped it right out of my vehicle when I got up. Slid on the pavement a good ways. Well the top right of the screen shattered and left half my touchscreen unresponsive. The back of the phone looked like brand new. Then I guess it put too much pressure on the screen while in my pocket and cracked even more down the rest of the screen. Now the whole touchscreen doesn't work. Ordered a replacement through my insurance costing me $150. It is unfortunate, but I am only paying like half of what a new one costs. =(

I have insurance through tmo and I have a rugged case on my n4...personally I like the look and feel of it. Id like to also add that I am responsible with my phone but things happen, that's why its called an accident because its unintentional.
I'd rather pay the 7 bucks a month and sleep better after all that's what insurance is about, no?

Let me tell a tale regarding the insurance... I bought the insurance on my last phone, a Vibrant, and will never, ever buy it again.
About 6 months into having my Vibrant, I get a text one day saying something to the effect of: "please return the damaged hardware in order to avoid charges on your phone bill." I call T-mobile and tell them about the text, they say they don't know about the text (turns out they were correct - Asurion sends out the texts), and assure me that it was probably a mistake and that should be the end of it. Two months later, I open up my T-mobile bill and there are TWO charges for 275.00 a piece. This begins a nightmare of epic proportions. Some low life scum had somehow gotten my insurance info and had managed to file two claims on my insurance and had in essence purchased 2 Vibrants for 125 bucks a piece. After literally HOURS on the phone with both T-mobile and Asurion, I finally managed to get the charges wiped and things cleared up, but not before T-mobile threatened to send the outstanding charges to creditors. I thought the story was over - I even used the insurance to replace my Vibrant that had fallen on the pavement and shattered the screen.
Then, about 6 months later, it happened again. And not just once, but FOUR times. I begged and pleaded with Asurion to set some sort of alert on my account so that any new claims would be verified with me (btw it is incredibly easy to make a false claim against the insurance with basic account information. The kicker is that you can have the replacement phone shipped to ANY address simply by using the online claim form) after the first of the four false claims. They said there was nothing they could do. With each new claim, I had to spend hours on the phone. This was made doubly frustrating by the fact that I had indeed made the only legitimate claim against the insurance. Because T-mobile and Asurion are two completely separate companies, I got minimal cooperation to occur between the two. I will say that T-mobile was always patient and understanding throughout, but I think that had largely to do with the fact that I have been a Powertel/T-mobile customer since the mid-90s.
By the time I actually used the insurance, I was only saving 100 bucks off what a Vibrant would have cost me on Craigslist. I would have gladly paid 100 bucks to make all that trouble and frustration go away. Never again.

Anyone buy their 4 from best buy?

Ok so had the HTC one...nice phone but some things bothered me....I returned It am I'm planning on getting the 4...I'm a little concerned on how much I'm hearing the 4 is laggy...I loved my 3 so I hope it won't disappoint...anyways in case it does, does best buy charge a return fee like att does?...Im still really not sure what to go with in the end so I'd like to play around with the 4 a while...plus I know it's probably not worth it but depending on price best buys mobile insurance seems a bit nicer then the att one....
