LCD Density Changer on Liberated - HTC Aria General

On my Hero, I always used LCD Density Changer, I loved the look, but it doesnt quite work as expected on my Aria. It works fine on CM, but on the Liberated Froyo ROM, no matter what I change the density to, even 159 from 160, my messaging app force closes when I select a message thread. Upping the density doesnt have this problem. Its not a must have thing, rather just a nice little mod in my opinion. Has anyone else had this problem or know of something I could do to try and fix it?

whoa I dunno what this is or what it's supposed to do but it definitely fuxed ish up on my aria...dunno how you would go about fixing that.

The application allows you to change the density of the phones screen, much like changing the resolution on a computer. Im just looking for a fix for the force close on messages. A work around is a third party sms app, but I am not a real big fan of the ones on the market. I like the stock app because it looks uniform and goes with the rest of the phone.

Well this has nothing to do with the messages. How is it supposed to fix it?

You dont seem to understand, this application, when active, is what is causing the messages app to force close. That is what im looking for a fix for. When the app isnt active everything is fine, when I use it to change the density I get the force close. I need a fix for the force close *Caused by the app*

Aren't the aria and the hero the same resolution? If they are, the messaging app should work.

The problem isn't the messing app. Its the pixel density app that is causing the message app to FC due to some incompatability issues. When the density app isn't working he said the messaging app works fine, the stock messaging app on top of that.
Try searching the general android development forums under apps and games for various sms apps, theres a few over there.

I will try that. I have not been a hug fan of any on the market. It looks like I wont have the phone much longer though, I am trading up to a Desire. I would still love to figure out this problem though..Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Callmearia

Explanation of Hero Keyboard Lag?

I have the Sprint Hero, and used the stock rom for 5 months,
DC 2.05
DC 2.07
and currently fresh rom 2.0, The keyboard lag is rediculous on this thing, and one of the worst keyboards I have ever used. The lag makes it unusable..
I have installed the 2.1 HTC IME keyboard, the 1.5 stock HTC KB, and the same one on the droid eris. Nothing helps.
The droid eris' keyboard works perfectly for some reason and for the hero, it sucks. It seems everyone will comment saying
"Mine doesn't lag"
If someone cannot come up with a possible fix, can someone please explain why their is lag on the HTC KB.
you might consider using xdas
lotsa options :-D
not sure if its more lightweight and less lag, and i hate to say it but...mine doesnt lag and i have no explanation
try regawmods rom. he has a black keyboard, its pimp. i found that while i dont experience LAG per-say, when compared to his, his was much more RESPONSIVE.
I'll join in. Mine has lag and I couldn't figure it out. I just installed Fresh 2.0d today to see if it's different. So far... no.
I agree with you, mine did lag. I'm using Sushi rom and the black htc keyboard is very responsive. Also, the AOSP keyboard never lagged one bit. I love it.
I'm running Fresh 2.0d. I'm also using Better Keyboard from the market...and I have no lag. The only time I will notice lag is if the phone is recieving a call while I'm texting, or if an app is installing after download. Aside from that...I'm not noticing a lag.
I also keep my phone as clean as possible. I clear text messages once a week, often clear my call log, ect.
Its mostly the messaging app i've discovered. Try pushing this to your phone. It will give you the stock android 2.1 messaging app which I love, and it is much faster
I started using the beta from swift key and it works nice.
i have to agree. the keyboard lag pisses me off. i can't take it. turning off vibration helps which i dont mind and turning off sound helps but i do mind that. i would really like sound on this.
The 2.1 IME keyboards and the XDA keyboard both lagged for me. Luckily I only have to deal with it long enough to install Estrong's file explorer so I can slap Swype back on. I don't have any lag in Swype.
You could try the non-haptic keyboard here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=660506
For me it's not just text messages. It's everywhere on the phone. I will be in the web browser and typing in an address and i will take the e and it sits for a sec then a 3 shows up. Or, I will type and it will pop in the letter, but I can't hit another letter for another second or 2. 1.5 wasn't like this, but I can deal.
Does the better keyboard from the market have the voice to text option? I've been using that a lot lately.

I have the HTC Mms .apk that came with Fresh 2.0, but I am a noob, when it comes to the adb stuff, could you please or someone explain how to install the stock 2.1 Mms.apk , I will give it a shot and hope it works.
I hate to say this, but the one thing the iPhone has over this is the KB. I am not an apple fanboy, I prefer android. But the KB lag makes the phones only input method virtually unusable.
1.5 was like this also. everything i tried has a keyboard lag. better keyboard is ok but it lags also.
every keyboard lags for some reason.

the stock keyboard lags also. don't even bother but it is close to better keyboard in performance. i wish there was a way to boost protity on the keyboard apps.
is there an app for that???
exactly, and its not just texting, every text field its ridiculous.
i just tried disabling everything in better keyboard and it isn't helping.
i tried looking for an apps that would increase the cpu priority on apps (keyboard) but i couldn't find any...

I dont think increasing the priority will help, but download Auto Memory Manager from the market.. Go to running processes, long hold it, and increase the priority or just say never kill, gives it the highest.

i'm downloading and trying it now.
I turned off Vibrate when typing and I don't lag one bit, prior to doing that I lagged a ton.

Yes........
I have also experienced EXTREME lag in most of the 2.1 roms out right now. Esp. DC and Fresh. Turned off vibrations, turned off sound, installed every keyboard I could find including AOSP and it didn't help. The lag was all over the place too just like others reported - not just in text messages or email.
Then I found a fix...
A rom without Sense. So far it's the only thing that has worked for me (other than reverting back to a 1.5 rom - yuck). Ic3 and MatrixROM both have 0 lag and run beautifully for me. Haven't tried the newer Sense-less roms yet.
Hope this helps!

Lcd density changer app

Anyone here try the lcd density changer app it? Are there any flaws to it? It really helps with a big phone loke evo. It can make everything smaller like list so u can see a lot more and also makes the icons smaller so u can fit more. Love it bc with the evo everything is huge
I just use rootexplorer to change my lcd density its permanant and doesnt need an app
I never used any lcd density app but i've heard you have to set it every boot but as i said im not sure
Intresting i dont know i just bought it
With the paid version you dont need to run it again after a reboot. I tried it, I didn't like it cause it made the Widgets all funky.
Can you explain how to do it using root explorer
Also can someone tell me the default for evo. Its either 230 or 240 i think...

I know there is something funny about using the density changing app, but not sure what. Read the help section about uninstalling.
To change the density with root explorer, go into /system and find the build.prop. Open it in text editor, find where it says default density value, and change it to what you want. Hit menu, save and exit, then reboot and ur good to go. I set mine to 161 for maximum content. Don't try 160, it will screw with ur notification pull down, it will think ur phone is smaller and shrink to half size.
Hey... This thing makes phone calls too!
Thanks but whenever i try to edit it it says rrsd only and i cant save. Anuone know a solution?

You need LauncherPro+ or ADW to resize the widgets properly.

Can't open Dialer tab in 2.3.340 when build.prop density <> 240

Title says it all. Anyone else experiencing this? Searched all over and no mention of it thus far so maybe it's only me...
Thanks for any help.
Try the free LCD Density for root app in the Market. Change density to to 260, reboot, then change it back to 240 then reboot again. That may help you
This happens on my X also when I change the density in JRummy's over clock app. So I just leave it alone.

I think I read somewhere on either here or Droid Forums that the Blur dialer does not like any other LCD densities. Maybe someone could confirm this.

I can confirm - the blur dialer absolutely does not accommodate any LCD density changes. I havent heard of any fixes yet.

Did this start with .320-.340? I was using 210, 217, and/or 220 density on .15 blur without issue. My first thought is the addition of the last called strip on the dialer forced the issue.
Thanks for all the responses/help thus far.

No facebook notifications is a problem with the facebook app itself, not a ROM problem. Pushee is an app that is supposed to fix this, though I think they are trying to set up servers for it, so it isn't available yet.

thanks alot and what do u suggest is the best app to overclock
Best overclock app by far for the D2 is Droid Overclock. It is available in the market and I believe it is only $1.50 and well worth every penny.
You could use SetCPU, however you would have to load your own kernel module, which can be very complicated, and could possibly put your phone in a bootloop.
Droid Overclock loads a kernel module for you. It gives you choices such as voltage and frequencies. You choose, it does the rest. It also gives you profile choices very similar to SetCPU. It's very user friendly.
As a warning (which the apps tells you too) don't set any boot frequencies till you are sure you phone is stable. I've been able to overclock my D2 to 1.35GHz on ultra low voltage. I would get a random reboot every so often, so I toned it down to 1.25GHz and haven't had a problem.

Cm7-Wildfire-LCD Density- better readability

Hello together,
after ive used cm7 for a while now... im getting somehow frustrated with
the small fonts in for example the market app (app descriptions, user comments and so on), same for standard-sms starting screen (sms-thread overview). So i experimented with the LCD-Density settings (standard is 120) and i found a LCD-Density of 130 results in a much better reading experience on that phone.
If LCD-Density is set to high things get unsharp...but around 130 is just fine for me.So is you are unhappy with the small and badly-readable fonts just give it a try.
A tool for doing this is available here at the forums. "LCD Desity Changer".
Only issue is that you cant use the rotation lockscreen-styles because they are not display properly. ( "Tabs to move" works properly, i have not tryed all)
Cheers
Thanks for sharing this with us.

130 crashes my wildfire and it seems i will have to reflash, so use with caution
*edit* okay after clearing my cache I can reboot without a bootloop, but it restored itself to 120 automatically. I'm not using it again until I'm sure it's safe to use
hmm that surprise me,
ive tested it a lot with different settings and not a single crash......only thing was that on some density settings, ive got a coloured stripe on the menue-when it is highlighted. I use launcher pro.......
another way you can do this, is by using the spare parts app which comes preinstalled on cm7. you can change the font size, albeit in a generalized way, but I've had no problems from malfunctioning or crashing apps or any graphical glitches.
I hope this helps ^_^

I also use launcher pro. The moment i entered 130 my phone rebooted. It got to the PIN keyboard, with a tad weirder looking buttons, and then suddenly crashed again, and the boot it got stuck in a CM7 bootloop. But after wiping cash (no idea if this helped anything) it booted again normally.
Perhaps I'll try again later after a nandroid backup
An issue I have found with LCD Density Changer, is that if you set it below 120, I get FC in .acore when trying to make calls.
i installed it but when i have 130 DPI the status bar and the wallpaper becomes blur, although everything else is much nicer...
