Is there any way to root 2.0.71¿ - Gen8 General

I did not know z4root doesnt work on 2.0.71 before i upgraded but now my archos seems sluggish like it needs to be overclocked. Can i downgrade or something?

overclocked? with 2.0.71 it runs again at 1000 MHz.
if you want root, remove z4root and follow this guide/thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880321

Thanks. I dont really understand that method enough to try it tbough

It's simple:
download SDE: http://www.archos.com/support/download/firm_dev/firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos
download the custom kernel from the thread mentioned above
reboot archos device and hold down "Vol-" button after screen went black
choose "Update firmware"
connect your archos device by usb to your computer
upload the firmware file to your device
safely disconnect the usb connection
press ok on archos device
reboot and hold down "Vol-" button after screen went black
Go to recovery menu and choose flash kernel / initramfs.cpio.gz
connect your archos device by usb to your computer
upload zImage and initramfs.cpio.gz to your device
safely disconnect the usb connection
press ok on archos device
reboot and hold down "Vol-" button after screen went black
choose "Developer Edition"
...
run terminal app
type "su"
have fun...

This is awesome. I just got a 101 and as much as I like it I can't help wishing I was running MIUI like I do on my Incredible. This tablet would be amazing on it.

has anyone tried superone click?

Will this all work on my archos 43 internet tablet?

Someone in a french board, said that he a writted a program in C++ to gain root on Gen8 under firmware 2.0.71 :
http://www.archoslounge.net/forum/showthread.php?t=16182&page=1
He say, it's a program like unrekoved.
Waiting for a link to see, if it's working or not ....

give it a shot.
it should work on all the gen8 tablets if its gonna work at all

[ROM] OS_Acer_4.002.14.EMEA.GEN1_A22F_A

This is official ROM (bin) from acer. Is for Liquid E. For Liquid - visit modaco forum.

Yep- it is from there, but only BIN file.
Hmmm seems that with the official acer update the upgraded S100 is going to be a problem.
I've got a message that the froyo update can only be done on liquid e devices because of the RAM space. s100 has 256Mb and the liquid e 512Mb. Because of that the official acer update tool stops.
Is this the reason the froyo alpha version i've installed now is a bit laggy???
[update] Gonna try the modaco version now! (4.002.14.EMEA.GEN1 bin for 256M)
hmmm, stopped at fastboot succesfull, now rebooting. and then it stopped. powerbutton does nothing, repluggung usb does nothing. Bricked?
Not bricked as it seemes. Used the following tips by malez and got out of the bricked mode (where it did nothing):
1. Pull battery in and usb cable to phone and pc
Press in order and without releasing
1. < (back button)
2. Camera
3. (power) not always necessary
Bootloader should appear. If that doesn't work unplug usb and unplugg battery and retry.
If this still does not work you can also try this
1. turn off your phone (and unplug usb if plugged)
2. press camera + volume up and then without releasing this two buttons hit power and the phone will vibrate two times. Release all buttons.
3. take the battery out and put it back (don't touch any button on the phone)
4. connect the usb to your computer and you will the acer logo and then bootloader will pop up.
Second list of tips got me up and running again with the new bin!
Is there any way to install this upgrade from SD card, I use Linux and therefor do not have windows.
Thanks.

Yellow trinagle is located in device manager!(just look at other thread)
You can get non-gui version in Bin4ry thread "X10 Flash Tool...and so on"
You need to open x10flash.bat in non-gui folder.(not gui)

Im still stuck on step 1. The yellow mark still wont disappear no matter what I have tried to reinstall/update the driver.
I have let the wizard to search the internet for correct driver, and I have point it to specific folder with the driver in it, I have tried several versions of the driver that I can find on the net.
I keep getting "the hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software" error.
I can use Flash Tool GUI to root my X8 and to install XRecovery. Those were done successfully. And we are talking same session same day here. Just straight after I rooted the phone and installed Xrecovery, did a backup, then I wanted to flash to 2.1 but then this happened.
Only when the phone is connected to the PC in flash mode.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?
Forgot to mention: the driver I'm talking about is SEMC signed driver. That is the driver for flashing right? Or have I totally missed this point all together?
I got it working now. It was not SEMC driver that's needed. It should be the gordon's gate driver. For some reason that driver went missing. I have installed SEUS and managed to flash my phone yesterday using SEUS. So definitely it was installed, but disappeared today or sometime after I used SEUS last.

Go to the thread "Root galaxy tab 10.1 the easy way". You will find the link to the file you need. Put the "update.zip" in the root folder of your tab. Reboot into recovery by switching off your tab. Press the left volume button and hold it while powering on your tab. Wait for the recovery options. Now press the volume up botton again and then vol down. Choose the option "install zip from sdcard". It will give you root access and install superuser. Now you can download busybox from the market and complete the root from within busybox app.
connect first is the right way

[HOW TO] Restore your tablet to stock + Reroot + Flash New Recovery

Before doing anything, make a backup to your external MicroSD card before continuing. Even if this method is very safe, and has been done several times without problems, we can't predict anything that may happen during the process.
RESTORE YOUR TABLET TO STOCK, APPLY ROOT, THEN FLASH A NEW RECOVERY.
This tutorial applies to both P3110 and P3113. They are the exact same models.
REQUIRED:
Odin ( Take any version you wish. The latest ones should do the trick )
The stock Firmware file. Concerning this part, Google is your friend.
The official Samsung USB Cable that came with your tablet. It is recommended (but optional) to connect your tablet into your computer's built-in USB ports.
The latest Odin-flashable recovery. ( P3113 uses P3110 files )
CF-Auto-Root
Patience
Returning your device to a like-new state.:
1. Boot into Recovery Mode. This can be achieved by holding Volume Up + Power when your device is powered off.
2. Wipe all data. [ Factory Reset ( /data /cache ), System ( /system ) and Internal Data ( /media/storage )
3. Reboot into Download Mode. Usually found on the Advanced Options of most CWM-based recoveries.
It happens that your Tablet cannot boot into Download Mode due to various reasons. There is a battery trick that can be achieved. Do it when you absolutely cannot boot into Download Mode.
1. Remove your tablet's battery.
2. Connect your tablet to your computer
3. Your device should automatically boot into Download Mode.
4. Put back your Battery back into your device.

I have a similar situation. A previous rooting operation on my Tab2 7 P3113TS was either bad or partial and it appears it will not go into the download mode. power-pgup, power-pgdn, or just power all go to the Samsung splash screen then to a blue VeinDroid rom screen but no further. I tried 3 different version of ODIN and all recognize the device (port goes yellow) but cannot communicate. It stops at the SetupConnection step. Is this thing toast or is there something I'm missing?

If a message is shown, press Volume Up. If you can't enter downloadmode normally, try doing "adb reboot download" in ADB. If you still can't, connect your phone to your computer, REMOVE THE BATTERY, hold Volume Up/Down + Power until DownloadMode is entered and put the battery in again. If your phone doesn't boot or/and battery trick doesn't work, use an USB Jig. If theres no usb jig, while until the battery icon is shown ( charging ) then do "adb reboot download" in ADB.

You're gonna lose all your data to downgrade so go and do a factory reset on the device itself then try towelroot...you probably have something interfering in your current setup...if that doesn't work I'm at a loss as towelroot works flawlessly every time I use it
