Using Boost service on Vogue

I have searched and have done research on this for a couple weeks and now I am finally coming for help
My Vogue is unlocked and I am to flash multiple ROMS on it. I have already transferred the phone information through Boost. I know that there is no roaming with Boost service and have turned off the roaming feature and set it to Sprint Only. With all that being siad, here is my dilemma.... I have almost zero reception.
I have driven around with the phone and there a couple places outside of town where I get 1 or 2 bars and I see it switch to EV. In that period, I can make a call to another phone and all seems to be working. All other times though, i get Zero to One bar of 1x but the phone is basically useless. . I have tried about 7 different prl's thinking maybe that was the issue but that did not work. I know the phone works and I have Sprint reception in my area because all my other lines work fine. Does anyone have any idea on what I may be able to do to get this working?

I believe that there is a way to program your phone to poll from the towers a bit more often as well as give it more priority, but I cannot remember the parameters for this. I will have to dig for a that a bit. The radio and rom are both good ones and should, in theory, not give you any issues. My only concern with everything you said is that you turned off the roaming feature. That is about the only other thing I can think of. What happens if you do turn it on?

Awww man those parameters would probably help a LOT. I was told that Boost can't roam so it should be kept off. When I do enable roaming, it stays at 1x and has the roaming triangle, but I cant make any calls and I get a "Verizon Wireless" message. Oddly enough, I have ssen one bar of 3G/EV today but still not nowhere near enough capacity to use the phone reliably

TIP - Gain 8% more battery

You may already know this tip but since I did some tests and measurements I thought that it's a good idea to share it.
I found that if you have the Airplane mode (flight mode) always on then A500 consumes about 8% less battery. Right now I am not in position to publish more details about why this is happening, since I am still researching it, but it works. It has to do with an application that periodically checks for 3G signal (Yes in A500).
Now most of you will think that WiFi or Bluetooth don't work with flight mode on. This is not true, they work as expected.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. Though, I hope that Bluetooth works , since it doesn't works while I'm on airplane mode on my Xperia.

This is an old tip, already discussed like a year ago here. I personally just use Acer Iconia Battery Saver on Android Market ( https://market.android.com/details?...RlcnBoYXplLkFjZXJJY29uaWFQaG9uZURpc2FibGVyIl0. ) to disable the 3G service altogether, no need to mess with airplane mode or manually toggling services on or off.

Same effect can be achieved by inserting "ro.carrier=wifi-only" (without quotes) into build.prop, which one can find at /system.

Yes. It's one of the benefits of his ROMs.

After installing / applying widget, pages took a long time to load and scrolling was 'jerky' (Firefox mobile).
Uninstalled and everything was back to how it was beforehand.
Stock 3.2 rooted using timmydeans method.

In Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and A500 yes they do. I don't know why this is happening but I suspect that it is because flight mode turns off the 3G radio and not all the radio. I am researching it and when I 'll have more I 'll post.
Note: If you have enabled wifi while you are enabling flight mode then it turns the wifi off but you can enabled it again without disabling the flight mode...

Yes. When you first turn airplane mode on, it shuts down all connections. Just toggle wifi, or Bluetooth back on, and it will stay in airplane mode. As a previous poster mentioned, it's old news, but apparently not old to everyone?

Recent apps and back buttons

Mine are not lighting up and not working. I have done various resets and things would be back to normal, but that has stopped now. Have made enquiries and people are saying it's the Google app and you have to disable it then enable, but that doesn't work either. Has anyone else had this issue? Factory resets were advised in other threads but did not work. I'm getting so many bugs on this phone that it's starting to piss me off

Have you tried initializing in smart switch. Or using odin to flash the latest firmware?

I''ll give that a try as that seems to be the only option left apart from returning it.

Gave it a try x 2 and it initially appears to work. Then installed some apps and it reverted back. Tried again, and tried setting up as a new phone, same thing. This phone has to be the most disappointing smartphone I have ever had. Permanent bugs, poor sound. Should have waited for the HTC 10.

In Accessibility Settings check if "One touch mode" is enabled. Disable it.

Don't have one touch mode anywhere . This phone is really beginning to piss me off. Surely a replacement can't have as many bugs as the one I have. Samsung Internet hardly ever works, the settings I save never save and now this. i'm thinking Samsung rushed this out.

Maybe it's called "Single touch mode" or something similar, I'm translating from Italian...

Have you tried the app called galaxy button lights? It might fix the problem.

Also check to see if you have powersaving enabled. When enabled the recent and back keys do not illuminate.

I think your only option is to get a replacement then. Hope you get a working one becuase this really is a great phone.

So people say but I have had nothing but problems with it. The sound quality is poor, it never saves my settings and I had to pay £200 to replace the screen whilst out jogging. I didn't drop it, it was in my arm strap for the entire 2 mile jog back from the gym. I'd love to swap it for a HTC 10 as I had the M7 and M8 and they were great phones and I didn't have any issues with them.

You must have just got a faulty one. I have had mine since it was released here in the uk and have not had a single problem with it other than the occasional reboot but thats acceptable and is just in the nature of Android. I would try a replacement but if you prefer you could sell it and put what ever you get towards a htc 10.

Is powersave mode on?

I've taken it to Samsung on Oxford St, London. After waiting 90 mins a member of staff tried the buttons and then said they will have to send it away for repair and it will take 7-8 days. Then instead of posting it back to me I have to go back to Oxford St and presumably have to wait the same time to get it back. Shambolic customer service.

Automatic hot spot

Anyone know of any apps that would turn the hot spot on and off based off of a Bluetooth connection? I can't seem to find anything and I'm wondering if it's just not possible with this phone. I'm hoping it's not something that needs root to enable.

Have you looked into Tasker? I don't know if you can do it but I see a lot of people doing crazy things with it.

I wanted to have a shortcut on my home to turn on and off hotspot but as a Verizon customers, I can not do that, I tried 10 different apps none of them worked, here is why
Verizon added a hook into hotspot functionality that check for subscription, so if you turn it on, it will check if you are eligible for hotspot (I am) and only then will turn the hotspot on, but while it check it turn it back off (so all the apps , I guess get confused, they turn it on, but it turned off immediately)

This is probably why a simple toggle in Tasker does not work.

Hello - my issue is this:

N910F - tried stock, and various roms - same issue (actually i think on stock it worked best but im unsure now)
cant find a fix anywhere - any good souls out there who know what to do?

Does only the LTE connection stop working (so it goes down to H+ for example) or your mobile data connection in general?

Good Question.
No it's still up and the connection shows that only "upload" up arrow is lighting up, but the down arrow stops lighting up.

It may sound super stupid, but can you access the internet or do any other internet related applications work? I assume it doesn't, otherwise you wouldn't have started this thread, but I just want to ensure.
Because at the moment, it sounds like a bug with the "connection display" to me.

I WISH it was just that
unfortunately, all internet applications stop working - i contacted the telephone company and they agreed to reset the connection and that I should turn off and turn on my phone in about 15 minutes - see how it is then. Will post my findings later - there are many threads on this topic on google - but I felt better posting here on XDA. Appreciate the help in diagnosing.

Did you modify your device before the problem accured? Maybe it's the fault of root or a custom ROM you are using?

still nothing - going to use stock rom and test the findings. I dont want to sell the phone but I feel I have to now...

According to your last post, I assume you're using a custom ROM? If yes, got back to stock ROM and test it again, just as you said. I guess your custom ROM (if you're using one) is the problem.

Hmm, that's a huge mess. Do you still have warranty? (Although I guess it's voided by playing around with custom ROMs...)
And do things like normal calls work?
