Galaxy Apollo Froyo Question - Galaxy 3 General

Good Afternoon everyone,
My partner has a Samsung Galaxy Apollo (Which I beleive is I5801?). She still has Android 2.1 and is getting annoyed with it as it has bugs and she can't use Internet Tethering.
I have checked on Kies and there is no update is there anyway I can get 2.2 on it?
I have seen this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858569
There is no actualy one that says Froyo next to a I5801 but can the I5800 go on the Apollo? If not has anyone managed to get 2.2 working on the Apollo and how because I have been pulling my hair out trying to find a way.
Thanks,
Max

You can flash i5800 firmwares on to i5801s, but remember to remove boot.bin and sbl.bin to keep your i5801 boot screen. There are certain risks like losing IMEI and/or WiFi MAC address. Just flash the i5800 froyo firmwares with Odin, there is a guide on it somewhere in the section.

Thanks. I will have a look into that tomorrow then and get ready to flash

Help me upgrading to froyo.. beginner..

Hello,
I am using Samsung Galaxy S I9000.. It is running on firmware 2.1 Eclair..
I want to upgrade it to Froyo 2.2.. I heard the JPA is fastest rom available for Galaxy S..
Please suggest me the best ROM to install on my galaxy s for speed and performance..
The baseband my phone has - I9000DDJG4
Please help me, how can I upgrade my phone to Froyo 2.2.. I've seen lots of ROM available in Android development section but don't know whether they support my mobile or not.
you need 20 minutes
1. 3br fix if not working, easy one from Richtrofen - flash bootloader with odin. (most risky part, but I do not find post with bricked phone when you patch both bootloaders at once), for me worked well
2. instal z4 root to root your phone
3. instal terminal and backup /efs folder
4. instal rom manager and download Doc rom v9 and instal it
Very stable and great rom, for the first time my gps is not lost every few kilometres

Updating the Galaxy Tab to the latest firmware !

Hey guys
I'm running the P1000JXJJ1, FroYo JPJJ2 firmware on my Tab, and samfirmware states P1000JVJL1 is the latest one !
so I was advised NOT to use KIES, and ODIN was better !!
My tab is rooted with OCLF set, Just a quick question, Odin will delete all my data and also I believe that I'd have to re-ROOT the device right?
another question is since I didn't have market out of the box, the product sales code has been changed to XSG.
thanks a lot guys in advance
Cheers
Jackie
if u use oclf, undo oclf b4 update firmware, kies or odin works fine for me, i'll only use odin when i screw up with my tab
and will I have to re root the device and also will ODIN delete all my data?
Hi,
searching for something else I accidentily found this thread.
Maybe my experince might be of any interest: got the galaxy tab 3 days ago, installed KIES and instantly got a message to update the firmware to Froyo JK5. I followed the suggestion to save my data which I regret later, because it took very long (had already copied a lot of videos to the internal sd) and couldn´t stop it. To cut it short:
the update was successful and nothing deleted, just everything in place. Also synchronized Outlook contacts, though at 96% it got stuck - waited a few minutes, then broke up and all contacts had been transferred fine.
(don´t know, if firmware is different for other countries...)
Odin will not delete your data if you did not choose to repartition, no need to use pit file to repartition if you are just upgrading fw from the same region..safest is still via KIES
To correct some mis-information from above. Flashing with Odin can delete your data, it depends on what components are included in the image you flash. If you flash an official ROM with Kies you should not loose your data but there is always a risk of an issue occurring during any flash that could lead to data loss. Unless you flash a pre-rooted custom ROM you will loose root and SU during a flash. These can be re-applied easily to the SGT using the Super One-Click method.
Redardless of what flashing method you use, if you use RyanZA's OCLF you must undo the lag fix before you flash, otherwise you will certainly loose data and possibly end up with a corrupt system that won't boot (I had first hand experience of this early on in my flashing days with my SGS!). You shouldn't really need to apply a lagfix to the SGT as it doesn't seem to suffer from the same lag as the SGS.
Finally, flashing with Odin can lead to product code being changed, especially if the ROM you flash isn't intended for the normal product code of your device. There are various ways to restore your poduct code, look in the Samsung Galaxy S forums for suggestions on how to do this as the basic construction of the ROMs is very similar between the two devices from that point of view. Also, be aware that people with SGS devices have reported loosing their IMEI while flashing with Odin. If this happens you will end up with a WiFi only device unless you backed up your /efs folder before you flashed. There's lots of info in the SGS forums about this and it's worth a read if you are new to flashing. I haven't heard of anyone with a SGT loosing their IMEI yet but it's worth taking precautions.
Happy flashing folks!!
thanks a bunch guys, I'm now running the latest version !!
was just trying to install the latest gingerbread theme from the forums !! will let you all know how that went

Go to the Android Development section.
Look up Overcome and BOCA for the Galaxy Tab. Both a great however I prefer BOCA. The current release is 2.3.4 but 2.3.7 is in the works.
If you follow the instructions for BOCA you will have a GTab that feels like it was newly born again.

Yes. Follow the instructions on the magrathea site or overcome
Use overcome instructions to instal stock GB 5. It tells you the pit and modem to use for your tab.
Then install the overcome kernel and reboot. It will root the tab and format the storage.
Then you install the Boca zip over the overcome kernel.
If you just want overcomes Rom follow their instructions. They make it simple

UK i9000 from darky 7.0 to stock

Hi
i have recently purchased an i9000 from the UK it came loaded with Darky's Rom 7.0.
I would like to use it in canada with a stock firmware. How can i restore it to stock firmware so i can also update the phone via kies to the latest stock firmware ?
which firmware should i use and what is exactly procedure ? can i use I9000XXJVK 2.3.3 can i root it ?
Currently kies is telling it cannot update the firmware.
Kies can only update legitimate firmware .
Gingerbread 2.3 is not yet released .
The phones product code is tied to the firmware update so O2UK phone gets O2 UK update not Canada update .
As its for non Europe i would be installing a stock rom for that area from samsungfirmwares .com as you require a modem to work in Canada .
North American threads on the forum may help if any .
Alternative would be to use Kies Registry Spoofing and spoof a clean phone to a Canada provider firmware .
jje
Thanks for the reply
So there is no way i can restore the phone to legitimate firmware? I dont mind to restore it to legitimate uk firmware. The samfirmware website list the latest 2.3.3 already.
If i cannot restore it to a legitimate firmware how can i get back to a stock firmware from darky 7.0?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Legitimate firmware that came with the phone can be restored if you saved it .
Flash stock from samsungfirmware through Odin pit 512 and repartition checked .
2.3.3 has not yet been released by Samsung so do not install .
jje
No i didnt saved it. I got the i9000 with darkys 7.0 version. Will go to stock firmware no other option. Darkys custom rom drains to much battery tried all the 10000 suggestions.
Thanks m8 for ur help.

Btw why should i not install the 2.3.3 version. I had it already installed. Any trouble ?

Odin flash a stock rom with appropriate modem.. root with a kernal of your choice.. im pretty sure you can change the product code.. search for it on xda..
Before flashing.. make sure all lagfixes are disabled if any..
All the best

Just a caveat, I saw that you are on Bell but it's a Rogers phone. Bell = i9000m. Rogers = i9000m? What baseband/modem did it have?
[Firmwares]Official I9000/I9000M Firmwares collection [Latest: XWJW6, XWJW5, XXJW4]
i9000m uses KG3 modem (first link above).

[Q] Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Help (T-mobile) SGH-T779

OK, I walk into a client yesterday and hands me three of these. The desired end result is to get them all running on ICS becasue Jelly Bean isnt certified to use a piece of software that they need to run.
Well, he tried to this on his own and managed to soft brick it. I can get to Odin but any attempt at trying to push what I think is a valid ROM to it triggers a reboot as it should but then it just sits on the samsung screen.
The version of Odin I am using is 1.85
The ROM I am trying to push is: cwm_recovery_espresso10att_childofthehorn.tar(Only one i could find that I thought might work)I just want to get this one to boot.
Something that I have noticed and not sure if it is an issue is the drivers. Not all of them installed but Odin did see the device. I cant currently get the device to power up so I cant tell you the exact one.
As for the other two. Is there a tried and true method to downgrade these two devices? What ROM should i use? Is there a way to backup the current ROM as a recovery point. etc.
Sorry for all the questions. I spent most of the day yesterday plowing through google and this forum and it appears as though this is not a very popular device thus not a whole lot of information on it.
Also should this work on the two that curently boot up.

Thanks in advance for any insight and/or advice.
Why are you trying to install ATT ROMs on the t-mobile tablets? If you want ICS stock for the t779 then go to sammobile.com, hit the firmware tab, and select the ICS ROM for your tablets. You will need to register there to see the downloads. Use odin to install.

you can find official tmobile firmwares at sammobile and then use odin to install. If you need to root when you are done follow instructions here
there is an official ics rom there
