[Q] Average Overclocking Android for Htc Blackstone - Touch HD General

Okay
I want to find out the average people overclock their blackstone/touch hd with startup on android
my htc blackstone with android cannot go far than 650000
right now i am testing 633600< works fine now (trying to get over 650000)
so if u could
could u post the lyour overclock values (600000-720000)
and what build your are using e.g froyo or eclair and ifs it neopeek xdandroid or others
thanks
Update
652800

Update
Going over 650000 border doesnt work for my blackstone just hangs
going back to last stable overclock (633600)

try use setcpu..my device got running to 691 mhz!!!
sorry for my bad englisj.

well it depends on each device.it is overclocking so not every device is the same.there are batch that can go higher more than 600Mhz.I found mine is max out at 633Mhz.Overclocking is the same like in computers where chips, batch no,revision no and etc play the role to get decent score.

lucky you

max out for me is somewhere at 740-750mhz, right now I run Android on 710mhz for no crashes (FRG83 R6). On the 1.6 build by Kenia I could go up to 748mhz without crashes

sorry, but i can't completely agree with you...for my blackstone, the max frequency depends on the modules and zimage that I mount, with the first Kernel modded by Camro, i was able to reach up to 710 MHz without any problems....Now my limit (with new kernels released by F22) is 633...so I'm waiting for new kernel hoping in best performances...

wow with 1.6
hmmm
might try that today

how to overclock blackstone when I am on android ? I installed setcpu and it says min 128, max 528 so I cant reach 600mhz and more ??

download kernel 1287. Radio 1.17... GingerCherry. And on my BlackStone i hit 710,4 (716800) with no problem

Modify the STARTUP.TXT

I use Froyos and test Gingers
Always at 716800 frequency
I've tried 729Mhz, but it gets unstable. I also use 710 in WinMo.
Radio 1.17; EnergyROMs

Hi,
I see that my cmd line does not contain "acpuclock.oc_freq_khz=650000 clock-7x00.a11=500" , so when I change speed (for example from 650000 to 716800), do I have to change only frequency or is there something to change with the "clock" parameter too ?

You only have to change the frequenzy.
I have set the speed to 716800 Hz and it works fine.

when I set to 716800 I got stucked linux boot (boot line comes to end then phone freezes..)

Maybe it's different from device to device or the problem is based on the kernel or radio version.

The problem of this is your rom..
Energy rom is very hard to overclock..
I've used energy rom for quite a while.. and didn't manage to overclock my blackstone to 650...
With a different rom I was able to oc my blackstone to 710.4 without problems...
I was very used to energy rom and had a lot of contacts and other stuff in that rom..
so my advice is make a back-up with pim back-up.. install different rom.. and try oc-ing ...

Under/Overclocking the Rooted Hero

Anyone tried it yet?
I'm browsing through the market apps under the search "root" and I'm seeing a couple overclocking apps. Particularly SetCPU and Overclock widget, the latter being a free app.
I'm kinda nervous about what clock speeds the Hero will tolerate. I don't want to risk bricking my phone!
The "free" app on market won't let me clock it past 528. I don't think there is an app per se that can jack it over that speed.

Yup i used another app to set it to 575, but the highest it went was 528. actually it was only like 526.XX
The Overclock Widget didn't work at all.
The widgets on the market are bound by the min and max clock values compiled into the kernel I believe.
There's maybe a kernel interface in /sys/ somewhere where you can echo in a clockspeed, but I haven't found it yet.
As for the max it would support? The G1/2 were throttled ~350 if I remember, but it was on this processor, which supported 528mhz, allowing for crazy clock speeds at the expense of battery life.
No idea if this proc will really support anything much over that, you'd be getting into 'true' overclocking territory there, and the potential for damage to the phone would be significantly increased.
[edit]
The usual /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ directory exists, but it doesn't look like you can just set a speed there in the 'normal' linux fasion:
Code:
# echo 540000 > cpuinfo_max_freq
cannot create cpuinfo_max_freq: permission denied
just download the set cpu or overclock widget
on set cpu activate profiles and make it so its 528 max and 528 min when the screen is on..and 245 max 128 min when the phone is sleeping

*NOTE* i r dumb in the ways of overclocking so I won't be able to fix code to get this to work
It seems to work when i put it on the slowest my phone goes alot slower and when i set it higher it goes faster but it will also decrease battery performance

Very cool! I wonder what a good balance between more power with not too much more battery drain would be.
Can't get it to work

When I start the app I can see the two bars:
Min is 528 and
Max is 528 as well
I adjust the Minbar to 128 and click
"Set to it!"
Display notification:
"Set new clock successfull"
When I start the app again: No change at all, still
Min is 528 and
Max is 528
Display icon always shows:
527
Any advise?
Thanks
Is their any way to get the overclock to 768 while running the stock hero?
I have mine rooted of course, but I'm limited to 528mhz with setcpu.
Is their anyway to flash something so that max can be lifted?
Thanks.

Here princess.
Also..
Both include setcpu.txt for Setcpu OC app.. Select "custom" at the very bottom for device. Do not select hero. Or you can select "Auto Detect" at the top, this does not need the setcpu.txt.
*damage537.zip* 537mhz is the default.. scalable to 768 if you use an OC'ing app
*damage768.zip* 768mhz default clock speed -read below
*damage710.zip* 710mhz default clock speed -read below
Both can be scaled from 19.2 to 768mhz..
DAMAGE710--The damage710 will default 710mhz, you must use an OC app to scale it to 768. Use damage710 if your phone can not boot the 768mhz. And dont scale any higher then 710mhz or your phone might reboot.
DAMAGE768--If your phone can boot the 768mhz then either download will work. But if you dont want to use an OC'ing app then the damage768 will scale to 768mhz.

well just incase it wasnt gone over , in order to overclock you need a kernel that has been modified to do this. there are several on this forum for the 2.1.
On a side not there is the god kernel that can both be run with or with out the overclocking apps.
I actually beleive the best performance is from the 710 kernel with out an overclocking widget. the widgets seem to introduce lag till they set the clock this is a major annoyance when the phone is woke for an incomming call.
Do a nand backup and test for your self.

I flashed the 710 one ontop of my stock 2.1 rom.
Now I'm looking at the green HTC logo with white background. It hasen't changed for 10 minutes. I think its stuck. Should I be worried?

Overclock HTC HD

Hi,
What the best software for overclock my HD?
regards
this is a dumb idea. srsly, dont do it!
i bought HD today and its a little slow
I think overclock to 600Mhz its ok.
I read about this CPU and can reach to 768Mhz
If you want to run software or sense 2.5 faster. What I did is changed the pagepool size to 32MB
Most of the cooked rom is using 20MB pagepool. I have a few problem with it.

Agreed. The cons definitely outweigh the pros. Just not worth it.
Just use a few tweak programs like advanced config or HD Tweak to change basic parameters safely.
overclock == more heat the device could take damage
+ higher power usage so your batt time will be a lot shorter

A 528 Mhz processor cannot reach 768mhz, technically. I mean anything is possible but it would not be stable at all and would probably screw up your processor. Htc has it set as high as it will go while being stable and safe to use.
Look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656572
My THD works stable at 709MHz Above this frequency, Android doesn't boot.

What's your max overclock?

As we all know, our Heros can be overclocked to different maximum frequencies depending on how lucky we are. So, I'm starting this thread because I'm curious as to how various Heros overclock.
To start off, my Hero is stable at 730MHz. It's the North American 3G version issued by Telus in Canada.
I was running at 710MHz but that was the limit of the kernel.
749 MHz, the limit of the kernel. But the phone runs faster on flykernel at 749 than another one I had at 800
GIYF 10 char
Well,I am a lucky guy obviously! My Hero can overclock @768 and be stable enough, but as the Gallery app crashes at this frequency(dunno why) I use it @749.But maximum overclock?800 MHz for a little less than a minute!
768 max, 19 min
Iirc
I have overclocked etc phones before but I am reluctant to do so on my hero (original ROM 2.1 intact). If I may ask, is it setCPU being used to overclock? Does the phone need to be rooted?
My Hero, and the XDA app, made this post possible.

Yes, the phone needs to be rooted in order to overclock.
I personally use Overclock Widget but I think SetCPU works as well.
710mhz works fine for me. 748 is very unstable and keeps rebooting
Running @ 748 on 3uk bought about 5 months ago.
Sent from my Froyd Villain Hero using XDA App
Just got 768MHz running. Not sure how stable yet, time will tell. XD
Well I can only manage 698 I can push it to 710MHz but it locks up if I put any strain on the CPU (forcing SetCPU to actually ramp up the clocks past 698).
It sux to be me I suppose
My kernel only lets me overlock to 691 Mhz (EzHero default kernel). Where can i get a kernel wich allows higher values?

Dev needs to create or edit the kernel to allow higher values. Kernels are rom specific.
Running stable at 710mhz on a 5month old Hero.
Seems that anything higher than that, and it would just freeze or become incredible unstable!

ditto that
691 is max stable. 3 months old European Hero.
710 starts eventually loop boot animation.
I found that there is little to no difference between 691 and any above.
So I keep mine at 691.
currantly 156>710 i can push it up to 756 but a tad unstable. but been running at that for over a week now..
vallain 12 1 year old hero gsm
Mine is stable at 653 mHz... However it's almost a year old (it's birthday is 7. of august)

[Q] How to overclock my HTC HD2 with Android ?

Hi !
It's my first thread, i hope you can find the solutions to solve my problem.
In first time, i'm sorry to my bad english. So, my problem is:
I have a HTC HD2 and i know to install Android on that. My new challenge is to overclock my device, with SetCPU or other. I have already followed some tutorials to do a few profiles... I did it, the maximum value i selected is 998 MHZ. It's Ok i think, i cross "Set on boot" and "enbale" so when i use Quadrant Standard Edition, i check 1024 Mhz. But when i see the device of XDA's devs i can see like rafpigna's nand 3024 MHZ ! Here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908528
My questions are:
1. How can i do it ?
2. Can i accelerate my N64's roms (with N64oid) if i succeed to solve this problem ?
Thx for all.

This is totally dependent on the Kernel supporting overclock.
This question cannot be answered completely due to the fact there are several Android ROMs with different configurations and preset Set-CPU profiles.
Also it appears you've mistaken the Quadrant score to be the frequency of the CPU? The CPU was not 3024MHz, that is the Quadrant score. The CPU was 1.5Ghz.
I believe 998MHz is the standard highest processor speed of the HD2, unless you have a Kernel which supports overclocking you can do whatever you want in Set-CPU and it won't change a thing.
I'm afraid I cannot answer your question regarding the emulator but I believe it would not have a massive effect, maybe fix some lag if you have any.
Thanks you very much. So if i install the Rapigna's buil i can have this quadrant's score ? Really ? Because it's HIS Kernel which he can does this ?
Isnt it also the case the overclocking will only work when the phone is running with the charger plugged in?
I have not seen any overclocking working on battery (although i imagine it would kill the battery!).

No.
There are a multitude of threads from users moaning about overclocking depleting the battery far quicker than the standard clock settings. That on its own is enough to conclude the phone doesn't have to be plugged in to allow the overclock to work.

You may receive comparable results although Quadrant scores have been criticised because of what they are based upon. You may receive lower scores. Running your phone in an overclocked state is an effective way of shortening the life of your phone, if you want to play games so much I would suggest maybe a PSP or Nintendo DS?
Overclocking depends on the kernel that is used. Kernel like tytung's kernels supports max speeds of up to 1190mhz. Rapigna's kernel supports up to 1.5ghz.
Based on this, if you use these kernels, use it alongside setcpu to control your overclocking.
However, I strongly advise against overclocking + charging at the same time unless if you are in an air conditioned room. There has been some speculation that overheating might be related to the recent outburst of touchscreens failing "mysteriously". Another technique to avoid this is to use a battery temp profile in SET CPU to give you a warning when your battery has reached dangerous levels.
Thanks for all !
1190mhz is the best and safest over clock speed

[Q] SETCPU HD2 overclock

hi guyz, i have a little question for you
does someone have an hd2 with android witch is overclocked to over 1ghz? 1.5ghz too? and, is it a warried operation or cpu has a low overhead in that situation?
3rd and last question, if i put my hd2 in 1.5ghz mode, and force a bench test, may i broke my hd2 with going upper than cpu Tjunction or there's a system protection witch shuts down all the hardware else the cpu is too close to Tjunction? (like normally pc cpu)
i don't know if snapdragon has system protection, so, i don't want to try to fuse my hd2 (it's my main phone)
and, for users who whant to know, yep, i'm using wp7 because it's smoother than android, but, if i try to use android with that overlock, may it can be smooth like wp7, maybe
and, please, don't say that android is smooth, because it has some micro freeze in the continuity of the animation, and i hate that
thank you for your answers

You can set your clock to max, but make a profile to downclock your cpu speed to ~500 MHZ when it heats up.

nice, what's the tjunction of snapdragon? is 50°C too hight?
not sure, to be honest, I don't overclock my device. too scared to do so :/
but when I did overclock it I set the temperature to 41-42 Celsius.

different builds use different kernels, and each support different max CPU speeds. If the kernel supports overclocking, the developer usually mentions than in the first post. Note that Some kernels/builds do not support any kind of overclocking, so the max CPU speed would be ~988 MHz
