Had to laugh...
Think shows mm on device database top of forum.
Sent from my BladeVillain using XDA App

DB lists the device size, not the screen.
If someone has a ruler, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you for your help

Best size for contact pictures?

Hey guys,
I was wondering, does anyone know the size of the contact picture that are on the People tab and Home screen icons?
Just wondering what would be the best size of picture to use without having to crop it on the device.

Anybody tried the Swiftkey 3 tablet version on the Galaxy Note?

Hi, I need some advice from experienced users. Could anybody please let me know the advantages of using the tablet, rather than the phone, version of Swiftkey 3 on the Galaxy Note? Which version do you recommend to use on the Galaxy Note? I purchased the phone version but immediately after installation, a message showed up saying that "Wrong SwiftKey! SwiftKey 3 (phone) is not optimized for tablets. Please consider purchasing SwiftKey 3 Tablet." I asked for the automatic refund immediately.
I read that the tablet version has a split keyboard. Given that the Galaxy Note's screen is smaller than most tablets, I wonder how easy it is to type on it. Do the keys appear to be smaller if I use the tablet version rather than the phone version? Is the split keyboard's height adjustable? Thanks.
It kinda depends on your prefered dpi.
Id suggest 160 to 200 use tablet version, anything higher use phone version.
Play around with settings, keyboard height etc.
Enough free alternatives though

If you get tablet version, you can configure it to look like the phone version. So I'd go for the tab one.
Try the free version first

Sorry, what do you mean by "160 to 200 use"?

I found the option of "Portrait key height" and "Landscape key height" under Advanced. Changing the key height also changes the overall size of each key. Is there any other way to change the height of the keyboard especially in landscape mode? I tried both the phone and the tablet versions. I found the split keyboard with Normal landscape key height the most comfortable to type on. (I made lots of mistakes using the small option.) However, I can only see three lines of the text I am composing. In my opinion, the height of the space bar and the suggested words could be smaller. I recall seeing a message that the size of the keyboard could be changed by swiping... It disappeared so quickly that I could not see the rest of the sentence.
By the way, the app adds a space behind each suggested word. For example, I wanted to type "becomes". "become" appeared on the suggested list. When I chose it, "become"+space was typed automatically. I had to hit the back key to add the "s". Similar, I have to hit the back key to add a full stop when the suggested word is the last word in a sentence.
I have 2 doubts about Swiftkey, it's not learning "xD" every time I tell it to learn it, by tapping on it at the top bar, the next time I type "xd" it leaves it as that! My second doubt about swiftkey is that if you type and then switch to the numbers page, and hit space, it doesn't return back to the alphabet page; Right? ARG! Some minor annoyances ...
Any suggestions?

Well, Swiftkey for me offers me both "become" and "becomes"!
FYI, you don't need to go back to end a sentence. If you hit full stop, it will remove any space it had entered automatically.

Dave
Tried it last night. Tablet version works just fine, but I can't really compare because I didn't bother to try the phone version. Went back to Swype because I've long been an avid user of swipe keyboards and I can't take that out anymore. )
I like the phone version better as it has an option for arrow buttons (left, right, up, down)
Im not sure if version 3 has it, but i know in x, tablet didnt

I also cannot find the numerical keypad in the middle of the split keyboard.
I saw photos of it on the developer's website. Very strange.

I think it is only available in the phone version. Don't know why it is not available in the tablet version.

I'm sorry, you're correct. They've disabled it for any tablet under 10inch which seems retarded. It was enabled on the final beta.

No problem. Hope they will put it back. They should also include a key to allow switching between keyboard mode and handwriting mode.
By the way, what is the difference between English (US) and English (UK) ? The currency sign?

I believe it is color versus colour and program vs programme that sort of variation.

Like you I immediately refunded the phone version purchase and bought the tablet version. I'm enjoying the split keyboard. Overall SwiftKey tablet version works great.

Webtop ROM

I saw a developent post in general android hacking and developing that said "to port the ROM of your choice choose the resolution needed for your device." Is there anyway that the Atrix could be forced to run a CM based ROM that is made for 1366x768 rather than 960x540; this would prevent the horrible pixilation problem in HDMI mirroring for the lapdock... Just a thought.

I don't think I understand your reply...
I think it is possible, you could even mod it to set the resolution when you want but it may require a reboot for each resolution change (Or not... The Asus PadFone does it on-the-fly after all), but the remaining problems are : Will it boot correctly ? Can we use the HDMI output as main output to bypass the screen ?
That's a good matter for a productive talk.
I'm not a dev, nor do I have the time to juggle learning and finals, regardless. Is it possible to create a lapdock ROM like this? It'd be great if someone could input. Thanks.
I had a look but don't see the thread. Any chance you can post a link?

OK, so the purpose of that thread is to qualify a rom to port. They are saying to choose a ROM whose source resolution matches the target device screen resolution. I don't know if this will help to eliminate screen scaling. I think what we need is a method to force the HDMI to become the primary display. The Screen Standby app has some work in development that may make this possible one day.

CIA Bootanimation

I found the CIA bootanimation but it was showing the last pictures before the first ones. I fixed it. It is currently 720x1280 but I cannot correctly change the resolution. I change the numbers in the desc.txt but it doesn't work then. Anyway, this works but it is a little small. If anyone wants to correctly change the resolution, feel free to do so.

He was making a joke about how instead of bashing the CIA (for privacy reasons, etc.) we should embrace them by having its logo as our bootanimation

to change the resolution of the bootanim you have to do more then just edit desc.txt you have to edit the actual images that are part of it...
Works beautifully on my N4 running N5 Port.

I'm not for sure though that's it, bec I applied it my self, and iv never heard of 'option sans light' until you just mentioned it. I think it may be a 'sans light' but I just can't remember exactly which font I used with that set up.

You might find better help on sites like DaFont or FontSpace, they have forums where typographers do this kind of thing. Or you can take the automated route and try WhatTheFont, although it may be less accurate.
I cropped out the "Contacts" from your image and uploaded that to whatthefont.
Looking at the cross on the lowercase t and the shape of the uppercase C from the suggested returned results, I have to say that the font in your picture is Droid sans. The cross on the t is very distinctive.
You are right , the t is identical
Thank you for the help!!!

The guy above me said droid sans Are you sure? I compared the lower case t's and it seems they are identical
Edit: if you look at the lower case T in my screen shot, look at the line in the T, then go look at the lower t in Ubuntu, they are drastically different. In Ubuntu, the cross of the t you can see on both sides but the t in U Ubuntu, its only on the right side.
Sorry I tried to explain as best I could
