Market Upgrade? *Solved* - HTC Aria General

I noticed in the Liberated ROM that it's using the up to date market. However the CM 6.1.1 release is not. I did some searching and found this. But it's not working for me. I tried installing it from recovery. I also tried placing the apk in the /system/app folder still not working. In fact now market is missing all together.
I'm sure it's a easy fix but for whatever reason I'm not figuring it out.
*Solved*
What I ended up doing is wiping, installing CM 6.1.1 booted up. Then installed gapps-mdpi-20101213-signed.zip from recovery. I'm all set now.

Thanks for posting that gapps.

Any clue why that gapps file is so much smaller than the previous one?
The 10/20/2010 file was 16.7 mb, this one is 3.94 mb... ?

So... install the Oct version first then the updated market version from Dec?

That would be my guess, since the Oct version has several things that the Dec one doesn't. I'll probably give this a shot later myself. Let us know how it turns out!

Just installed that gapps, wiped cache & dalvik just in case, so far booted up fine, market works good too. Thanks!

Too bad I can't thank myself :/

I thanked you for you.

Can i have the link to the October Google apps?

New Market for users on Cyanogen Mod

Here is a flashable zip for people who want the new market on Cyanogen Mod. This isn't originally mine. I saw it on another thread, but I am reposting here because it seems like a lot of people are looking for it (and I can't seem to find it again haha.)
Just flash from your favorite recovery and enjoy!
EDIT: Forgot to mention that it is working fine for me on 6.1 final

I don't get it. I did a NAND backup. Cleared the data for the market. Flashed the zip. It didn't work. Force Closed evertime. So I did a NAND restore to my backup. And now my old Market is FC'ing non stop. What the hell

Loaded on my Incredible with no problems. Wiped Market cache, cache and dalvik-cache before loading. I'm running Cyanogen 6.1. Thank you all.
what to do with files?
Ok so i know how to install apk files, but seems when i rooted my cdma r800x experia play, using cyangen modd, i must have done something wrong, i had folders labled apps, and a ziped folder labled gapps-gb-20110613-signed, but i did nothing with these two, and now my market dont work, my home key dont work, well that seems to be the only complaints as i successfully have the spbshell3d working and that is amazing, the home key aint a big deal but would be nice if it worked, i would just like my market to work.
Thanks,
-Don

New Market 2.2.10 apk

Here ya go guys, it's Market v2.2.10. It installed and runs perfectly on my Crackflashers AOSP Gingerbread ROM. It's also fixed some issues where I would have to download something five or six times before it would install.
Parse error. Please post in a zip.

If anyone has an android central login, can you sign in and download it there and repost here?

Here you go.
Blackrose, how did you install it?
I tried using Root Explorer to rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak and then installing the file. I rebooted, but started getting FCs. I tried restoring the old Market but ended up needing to NANDroid. I am running Salvage Mod 9.6.
None of these are working.
Tried these and several others found around xda.. apparently its also being pushed to Nexus S. None of them work. Tried copying to /system/app and /data/app None of them in either place works.
Using stock 2.2 3.70 rooted rom.

I'm guessing it's because it was specifically designed for Gingerbread.
You have to push it via ADB..
ex..
adb push yourpathname\com.android.vending-1.apk /data/app
This worked for me.

I pushed this one via ADB, and while it opens and things look ok, as soon as I tap on a product I get an FC.
Is there something that needs to be done to initialize it? I did clear all the market settings before trying it.
Solution
Its not really much of a solution, more like an insight.
The reason why no one can install the market is because you flashed a rom without the market, then installed a newer version of gapps. The newer version of gapps assumes you updated and still have the market apk installed. The gapps file only includes the apk to update the market app.
Flash an older copy of gapps and then boot your phone. Run the setup and then flash an updated gapps. You now have the updated market.
Also anyone that was having the home button not working issue, this resolves it. Home button stopped working as a result of the above issue. You may have to install a rooted stock rom and then flash cm 6.1.2 and then your kernel and then the gapps in the above order.

CyanogenMod7 Market? how-to-install?

I just rooted with Cyanogenmod7 and noticed theirs no market. How do I get android market on my phone? A direct link would be nice.
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/
Google Apps contain the proprietary Google applications that come pre-installed with most android devices. Due to licensing restrictions, these apps cannot come pre-installed with CyanogenMod and must be installed separately. CyanogenMod does not require Google Apps to function properly, however, to take full advantage of the Android system, Google Apps are recommended.

Did you do the universal one at the top for CM7?
I seem to remember that one not working for me either.
You have to reflash CM7 and then flash the Gapps BEFORE you reboot or it will not work properly.

You can do a wipe to make sure it installs properly. Just make sure you flash both CM7 and the Gapps before you reboot.

Market Place missing after hacksung's 6.1 Build?

Market Place Icon is missing.
Followed exzacklyright's hacksungs ICS 6.1 build instructions to the bone. Didn't miss anything. As this is my first smartphone i was double sure not to. Can't post the link yet as i don't have 8 posts. If you need it i'll pm it to you or a google search should pull it up.
Am i missing something? Is there a way to just download the marketplace app? Thanks for any and all help.
Found this file "Market3027-signed.zip". I got into CWM, i installed the zip, tried to reboot, but i keep getting sent back into CWM or boot loop i guess u could call it. Going to start from scratch and install it right along with gapps7.1 like in the instructions. Hopefully that works.
Hacksung build 6.1 actually has quite a few bugs, I would recommend build 6

gapps7.1 is the correct gapps for build 6.0. I also would recommend it, 6.1 introduces bugs
If you do decide to go with build 6 and your mms doesn't work, then give me a hollar and I will tell you how to get it working. Other than that every feature works fabulous and very smooth

So your running build 6 and it's running smooth? Mms working? If not download set dns from the market, then choose "custom" and leave dns1 as 8.8.8.8 and dns2 66.174.92.214

Hm, strange since 6.1 + glitch v14 B3 is working great for me, wifi and everything.
Sounds like the OP forgot to flash gapps. I did notice even just upgrading from 6 > 6.1 (without data wipe) I had to reflash gapps. Figured they would still be there since I didn't wipe data but apparently not.

same here with 6.1 and glitch v14... whenever you flash a rom the gapps apk's are replaced with the current rom you flashed.

Lol I just figured that since I just told you gapps wasn't included, that you wouldn't wonder why they disappeared
When I was using CM7, I wouldn't have to re-flash gapps after updating the rom (unless data was wiped of course). By your logic, since they weren't included in the rom zips that I flashed, I would've had to re-flash gapps (which I didn't). What's the explanation for this?
Well apparently, cyanogenmod changed something. Or teamhacksung did maybe

Flashing Gaap's Succesful but no changes - CM9 0.2 beta

I've succesfully flashed cm9 0.2 beta (from jokersax's site) and everything is working fine. However, after flashing the gaap's there is no change. I am not able to get the android marketplace app or any of the google app's in the package.
my CWM gives no errors and it says the package installs properly.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very greatful!
has anyone had an issue similar to this?
version 10? Did you install AFTER you flashed the Rom?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I've tried both v10 and v9. - and yes I flash them after already installing the rom. I've followed the procedure properly but nothing's showing up.
Have you tried re-downloading the gapps zip and flashing again? Try doing a system wipe, wipe all of your caches and whatnot, then re-flash 0.2 beta and gapps v10. My atrix has flashed everything properly, but then again this is still in beta so there's going to be problems somewhere.
I've literally done exactly that 3-4 times and it doesn't work. The rom installs perfectly but there are no google apps in it when I'm booted in.
these are my steps
- boot into recovery, perform wipe, including cache
- install 0.2 cm9
- flash gaaps v10 in the same way as 0.2 cm9
- turn on phone
the os is great but there is no market or any google apps. I was hoping to get face unlock going ><
Wipe dalvik too.

What version of CWM are you using? If you're not using the latest, GAPPS may say it installs ok but will not actually install. I believe the latest is 5.0.2.7 or 5.8.1.8 if you're using Touch. Others have reported this same problem and updating worked for them.
Yea... that is quite odd. I've installed i believe at least 2 or 3 different versions of Joker's CM9, along with the Gapps kit, and have always gotten at least the Market, which is the general requirement for just about EVERYTHING.
