X10 Didnt charge last night, but boiling hot! - XPERIA X10 General

Woke up this morning and phone was off and very very hot, screen was actually burning to touch and the battery the same. Just managing to get it to come on now by the looks of it. Anyone had this? always thought my battery could be the cause of random reboots as its always hot when the phone does it and goes on reboot cycle until i saw its a common type of hardware fault!

ok finally got it to boot turns out it has charged a bit its 61% wouldnt come on for ages though!
hmm...

Sounds like what happened to my old nokia 6280 many many years ago...
Might be a battery defect, I sent mine for servicing the last time and they said the battery was nearing the end of its usuable life lol.

its a replacement about 3 months ago - the phone! been stuck constant reooting for ages now, diong it now every 2min struggling to get stuff back on the phone after the update

Well there is not much other to do than send it back to repair.

I wouldn't mess around with it too much if i were you. When electronics fail to protect your lithium battery from overcharging or over-discharging, the battery will get very hot. At some point the battery can even get uncontrollably hot and explode. If it sometimes gets so hot then there is something wrong with the electronics to prevent this and you should send it back to a repair center.

Happened to me to but it was my fault left my phone charging under my pillow.

I think is a problem with the charger mine had the same issue like 3 times but we aware it hurted my screen.... It was not responding as good as before so i took it to my career and have a replacement of all... Phone, Battery and Charger...
Take care of it or you'll have the same problem as i did...
Jim

I had the same thing happen a few months ago and the phone ended up not booting anymore a couple of weeks later. Had it replaced and new x10 has been running great since then.

Yeah I've this issue before usually I manage to cool it down before it huts the phone, I don't know why this happends but it occours randomly. Any ideas??
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

all of you who are having issues it could be either:
1.Charger base(where you connect your USB in) has gone bad
2.Battery Defective(try getting access to another battery)
3.Software needs to be reflashed or there could be bad apps that uses power
4.Defective hardware and needs to be turned in for Warranty which im sure 100% of everyone on this forum has

I don't have warranty on my x10, it was a giveway present from someone who got it by a giveaway present from someone who works for SE.
So it's not 100%

regardless though, shouldnt there be a warranty on it?

This happened to my X10i too.
It would charge for hours and gain like 1% and get extremely hot.
I let the battery go flat, then I took out the battery and waited for a few hours.
When I charged it afterwards, it worked fine afterwards, haven't had any other problems with it. =)

Yeah, I've had the same problem a time or two as well. I would send mine in for repair under warranty, but alas, my Digitizer is cracked. So they would probably deny me.

Dont think they would deny it they just wouldnt fux the digitizer. if there is a problem with their product which i think there is alot of hardware issues in a large number of x10s out there [rebooting / overheating constant like mine] they are legally going to have to replace/repair this

Well, its sworth a shot then I guess, Im having a TON of different hardware problems with this phone. Worst they can say is no, right?
Sorry to go off topic.

Often, while charging, if I access any apps, my phone goes to reboot cycle. Have also noticed that the battery gets hotter than usual during those times. Its a way too nagging problem in an otherwise good phone.

[Q] HELP!!!!! TMobile No Help

Basically whats happening. Me and my wife have exchanged both of our Vibrants through T-Mobile 3 times due to overheating and the proximity sensor acting up. My wife literally burned her hand this morning when she grabbed her vibrant off of the charger. We only replaced the phones yesterday and are already getting the same issue. I called T-Mobile and they said they can either give me another Vibrant or exchange my phone for the original Motorola Cliq or the Blackberry 9700. When I was with AT&T they gave us the option to select another phone within the same price bracket of what our phones were worth. I paid full price for both vibrants. Do I have any options or should I work through the BBB to solve this?
Tell t-mobile that you are ready to file with the BBB, see what they do, if it comes to the worst, actually file a claim or complaint and hope for the best. Good luck mate !
you need to get out of 1st line support. You can easily get the email address to the executives of Tmobile easily. And write them a professional email stating your case and you will be taken care of.
My brother did this a few times to get out of contracts, to get a free phone and to get out of a ETF. It is effective.
So you're saying that all SIX of the Vibrants you've owned have had the same issues? Either you are the unluckiest people to walk the Earth, or your expectations are beyond reason.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I mean, LITERALLY burnt her hand? That's lawsuit worthy if you have hospital bills bud. I think you're overreacting, get a battery app and see how hot its getting. It should only get abnormally hot under heavy use while charging, like tethering or something. I mean, 6 vibrants? You expect them to keep sending them to you on demand? Obviously they're trying to stop you having to exchange your phone so often, not screw you over. But yes, use one of the above methods.
Crazy thought, but maybe it is the batteries and not the phones?? How about Tmobile replaces both batteries?

My thoughts exactly, especially since this is not a known problem with the phones. In fact this is the first time I think I've ever heard of it happening with the galaxy S line in general.
Actually it takes a fair amount of heat to damage tissue. I expect that plastic would be melting around that point.

Have you talked to tech support or just customer service?
the only time ive heard of anything like this is with cheap chinese knock off batteries. did you buy a pair of high cap batteries and a charging station on ebay or something? If so consider putting stock batteries back in cause every replacement you get is a manufacturer refurb meaning they have been fixed and tesed to be running. I have 4 Vibrants on my T-Mo plan and none have had any issues, minus the first set being hardware locked but that was a long time ago.
Lol six phones.... only in America
Now this is interesting. I actually had this happen Saturday, my story is that the wife was doing the updates and things, it froze as usual so instead of messing with it then, I told her to put it on charge and let it go (We didnt have time to screw with it then). Later on, she took it off charge, it burned her hand and she dropped the phone (Not really burned, but more of a shock it was so hot). The screen cracked, I called tmo and was told in a rude way that it was samsung's problem, not theirs and that they didn't care. I had to do a warranty exchange on it due to it being damaged at that point.. I told them it wouldn't have been damaged had it not been so hot.. blah blah, again, it was like talking to the wall.
I like to trust people on here, but when i hear SIX phones have the same problem.... I know it is NOT the phone.
same battery in each phone?
what apps are running?
A friend of mine experienced this but it was not due to the phone but the fact he was using some non-OEM extended batteries that were overheating instead. Once he went back to using OEM battery, it's been fine ever since.
The only reason he went with the extended battery is because of the unsatisfactory battery life. After getting him setup on Bionix and reconditioning his battery, he's no longer complaining about battery life.
If this is case with the OP, I actually feel sorry for TMO / Samsung. So much waste in hardware, time, etc.
Are you using a crappy ebay charger?

That's reminds me...
I've seen "crappy" chargers that don't seem to stop charging after the phone is at 100%. So, it just keeps charging until unplugged. That can't be good...
I've also seen so-called generic micro-usb "quick chargers" that claim to charge the battery up to 50% faster. Even if it's not a "crappy" charger I imagine doing so might make the battery unnecessarily hot as result of the increased speed of the charge.

The fact is that it wasnt abnormally hot. it just surprised his wife. I've touched cold things and twitched because I thought they were hot.
Yes the battery/charger may be the problem
I have had this problem on my HD2 But..... it was a result of an aftermarket battery. The probability of 6 phones having the same internal problem....is like winning the lottery, so I'd be looking to the charger and battery as the issue.
FYI, for temperature reference hot water in commercial building is usually set @ 112-120 f unless it is a building for kids then set @ 108 max. At 120 to get a real 2nd degree burn you would need your hand in it for 15-30 sec. depending on the person.
Most plastics we use in building phones, electronics and consumer goods range resisting deformation until 150-180 degrees but with a protracted long heat source can become malleable 125degree depending on the plastic.
Anyway some trivia for reference. I'd would look to the battery
My first phone died due to overheating. But this was from using a car charger that was not meant for the exact phone model.
I picked up a $0.98 charger from amazon and no more overheating issues when charging in my car. When you charge with the wrong charger it will heat near 120 degrees.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant Dies.....Overheated...

I am new here but just wanted to know if anyone else has had issues with their Samsung Vibrant overheating???? I have had this phone for less than 2 months from my carrier and now it is dead and in for repair!! I went to go grab the phone and the screen did not come on; however, the buttons at the bottom were lit up so i tried the buttons on the side of the phone (on/off switch) still nothing. The top half of my phone (not where the battery is) got so hot that it burnt my hand. Then I noticed blue, red, green pixel stars on the screen (which by the way burnt the screen). I don't know if it is a faulty battery/charger? Or what. When I spoke to my carrier, they told me that this is the first they have heard about anything like my case. It has been in the shop for more than 1 month now and I am getting very annoyed..as they gave me a loaner Galaxy to use and I HATE IT!!! Anyone have any suggestions??? I did not game on this phone or anything...
Thanks so much,
Pam
Happened to an HTC Aria I had, and had to get a new replacement to AT&T. The digitizer went (burnt?) out, and since it's a touchscreen only phone it became unusable because I couldn't really do anything on it.
What kind of charger did you use? Especially car charger...
I have never had it on with a car charger. I have heard that one should put the phone on plane mode as the green charge battery light will not come on. From what I hear they are replacing the screen (which they have no choice as it is burnt) as well as the board. Why is it taking soooooooooooo long? I usually have it on WiFi all the time; however, this should not do anything. It makes me mad....I have waited for this phone to come out and when I got it, I thought there was no other...until this happened. I did notice it acting kinda slow and I realize some phones do get warm...but should NEVER get hot enough to burn one's hand!!!!
I'm guessing you didn't OC the phone or anything.
Yea, I keep mine on WiFi basically 80% of the time, but the phone (in stock form) turns that off when the phone sleeps. I have brightness set to auto.
I notice my phone gets very hot when I have it on a car charger, and I'm using a charger from T-Mobile. It doesn't happen when I have it charging from an outlet in the wall through a USB Extended cable.
That's the only time I notice my phone getting hot.
Also, using the phone on WiFi tends to keep the phone cooler than using it on a data connection - I've noticed that for a few phones I've owned.
The overheating issue was also a big problem with HTC HD2s (except those phones would just go into a reboot loop/lock up, instead of burning up ).
No I did not overcharge the phone; however, I do notice that the battery life is almost nil on this phone. Full charge does not last 2 long on the phone and I only use it basically to text my daughters...and a little texam holden lol. But I have noticed with this galaxy (the loaner phone) the battery stays good for 2 - 3 days! Although I really hate this phone so I do not use that much! How would they be able to tell if it is the battery?? From what they have told me, they are only replacing the screen and the board....Well something made it go hot!! Battery or charger...When I took the phone back to Aliant I was going to give them everything including the charger, but they just sent it away with the battery. How do they know it was not the charger?? Getting very frustrated....I have always owned a Samsung phone and have never had any issues until this phone....makes me want to go back....but I do like the Vibrant when it was working....esp the screen.....
Only things I've ever come across that have made a Vibrant overheat is using cheap non-oem extended batteries, overclocking the CPU / GPU or leaving it a car in a 120+ climate then expecting to make heavy of use it without allowing it to cool down first.
I have never replaced the battery...it is brand new (less than 2 months old)....Thank god I had insurance on it... One would think that it would not take this long to come back from being fixed!!! Have never left in car....don't have to worry about the 120 degrees we are INTO snow now!! LOL... I am disappointed with Samsung. How can they tell what made it go that way?? Battery? Home Charger? They should replace the battery in my opinion as well!!
How often does the Vibrant overheat? Is this a common issue?
not sure.....it only took one time for me that fried the phone...Now they are supposedly replacing the screenh (they have to it burnt an image on it) as well as the board.
I have never heard of this happening with the vibrant. They claim they have not heard of this issue??!! I cannot believe this. I would like to know what caused this. I thought perhaps it was the WiFi being on all the time, but I do not think this is why. I do not game on it....I do not overcharge it (only charge it via home charger when it shows battery getting low - which might i add says it is almost drained at mid day??!)
Seriously, I have never heard of a phone overheating. I mean, sure they get hot when talking on it, but never overheat.
my phone has gotten really hot gaming on it while charging (stock charger and moto cliq charger), but it's never died or even decreased performance from it. even when oc'd.
Mine has gotten warm twice: once, I left Google Maps w/ GPS open when I put the phone in my pocket, and didn't realize it until I felt the heat in my pocket; the other time, I left ScummVM running (which apparently doesn't suspend properly), draining my battery over about two hours, again in my pocket.
Both times the phone was only warm to the touch. Nothing like you've described.
So do you have T-Mobile or Bell? If you have Bell (sounds like you do, I'm 99% positive) this is limited to the Bell i9000m Vibrant and not the T-Mobile T959 Vibrant.

There are threas on T-Mobile's official Vibrant forum about this issue.
My vibrant gets very very hot from time to time. I keep it on a usb hooked up to my computer at work with wifi on all day. Sometimes it will get super hot and not want to charge. I restart the phone and it usually fixes the problem. But its not the battery that gets hot, its for sure the yup part of the phone.

Sounds to me like you had a bad battery...this can cause the battery to overheat while charging. I work in construction and when the batteries on my power tools fail you can cook an egg on them when they are charging.

Did u happen to have anytype of case on your vibrant. I notuced when I charge my phone with the case on it got prety hot. Not to where it would burn my hand, but hotter than I really thought my phone should be while charging. So I take the case off when I put it on the charger.

My surround died last night

Like the title says... woke up to the HTC boot screen and it wont boot past it. I bought it on Nov. 18th so it has been 34 days and ATT will not replace it in store because it is 4 days past the return date. Warranty will cover it, but this is frustrating right before the holidays. BAck to the old Tilt2 I guess.
Watch out and always sync your pics and such to your zune software!
Woke up this morning, once again with a dead Surround. This was my replacement device that warranty covered from December. Another one is on the way from ATT, but I was wondering if there is some lemon law where I can get my money back or something? If my phone is going to keep dying every few months I don't want it.

The rep on the warranty line said after 2 or more FRU's they will negotiate a replacement device. Which is fine, as I may be negotiating for a different phone if this one dies.
Was it plugged in when it died?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
The first one died unplugged, moments after I woke up and shut my alarm off and unplugged it. The second one was plugged in and the bright white screen woke me up in the middle of the night. Both of them acted funny before they self-bricked, like forgetting my IE favorites and deleting some apps randomly.
I had this same problem. Replaced under warranty and so far I haven't had that same issue. I did have a different issue though, where it didn't read the whole memory properly as referenced in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916865
I'm worried this device is prone to failures, as I've now had two devices acting up. I'm trying to get AT&T to give me a different device, but they said I can only do same device exchanges under warranty.

They do in fact have a policy for device replacement for multiple FRU's. Meaning, if you are like me, and have already replaced two under warranty (meaning you are using your third device) if you have problems with the third they can negotiate an alternative device if it is still under warranty. Call the warranty exchange number over and over until you get someone who is knowledgeable and is willing to work with you. And keep calling with every complaint so they have it on file!
Good to know. I guess I'll just go and exchange it now and hope the next one either lasts forever or calls it quits ASAP. Warranty is running short these days :\
The warranty is one year from original purchase date or 90 days from activating the replacement device, whichever is longer.
My Surround also wouldnt boot up. happened last week. It was on my desk and not in use. I watched as it said goodbye and shut off. Battery drained and turned off, no big deal as I tend to let that happen before plugging it in for the night.. Only this time it wouldnt get past the white HTC screen. I did the whole volume button reset thing and still nothing. Ended up talking with HTC and getting it shipped to Texas to get it looked at. next day it was in the mail back home. Should be here in the next day or so.
Im curious to see if the paperwork will let me in on what happened. Although I sort of doubt it.
Awesome! I was under the impression it was just 90 days.
Talking about HTC Surround acting funny?
Well, mine likes too.
1. I used my phone as a alarm clock. Every night I connect it to the wall charger and leave it turned on resting on the night table. The next day guess what, I woke up late. The phone never sounded the alarm, in fact it won't make any sound at all. Have to reset it to return it to normal.
2. There have been a couple of times where I have not received calls in hours. When I press the power button to check the status, the phones goes throughout the complete power up sequence. But the phone was already powered on the last time I checked a couple hours ago and the battery is full. Its like it powered off by itself at anytime without warning!
3. Try to use the phone while charging and you'll notice touch screen response gets a a little jittery. But I found a "cure" for that. Hold your phone in away that your fingers make physical contact with the metal frame around the display. This will minimize the jittering effect on the touch screen.
4. Camera autofocus needs prescription lens. My HTC Surround digital camera have a hard time trying to focus on objects more than 15 feet away. It gives focus confirmation but the pictures always look blurry.
Those are some of the bugs I found in my HTC Surround purchased from AT&T last November. I'm sure they are not the only ones!
Those are known bugs, but seemingly have no correlation between devices randomly dying or not. My first surround had all those bugs and died, my second one showed little signs of any of those bugs and died anyways. Hoping my third one dies within warranty so I can get a new phone :/

Evo refuses to turn on AT ALL

This has happened once before, but just for a small amount of time to to the heat (I believe). The phone has been off for over and hour and refuses to turn on whether I hold down the volume button, don't hold down the volume button, or push the battery in at the exact time as I'm doing the other one or two. The splash screen flashed for half a second and immediately went back off when I plugged my evo charger, the usb part, into my portable ipod charger, so I believe this means there is still help available! Last time this happened, which was months ago, it seemed as if it just needed to cool down a bit, and my reading on the internet confirmed that the phones shut off when their batteries reach too high of temperatures. So what I did was wrap the phone and the battery, separately, in a large wash cloth and let them sit it the fridge for a little while. No luck, I'm running out of ideas (and I realize a ziplock bag may have been better but who cares). A few days ago I installed cm7gginggerbread7 (wimax) over cm7gingerbread2, but have not had any issues up until now and everything has run perfectly as well as smoothly. Is there any way I can turn my brick into a phone? Perhaps there's a way to adb something even though the phone wont boot (im a noob). I'm just pissed cuz I finally got every little thing exactly the way I wanted it, and now I'm stuck with a paperweight :/ I thank you for all your help, brave knights
It just suddenly shut off and won't turn back on?
And you weren't messing with anything?
If so, sounds like it's a hardware or battery issue.
Can you try a different battery?
Does the charging light come on when you plug it in? It could be a dead battery, and if the charging port is broke, it wont charge.
Otherwise, it seems like a hardware issue. I would take it to sprint, and they should be able to replace it for you.

If they can't get it to power on then it really doesn't matter if it's rooted or not because they won't be able to find out.
Well I was messin with it a couple days ago, flashed gginggerbread6 w/ wimax over gginggerbread2 after wiping cache and dalvik and of course making a nandroid. I was thinking of smashing it but I've gotten everything they way I want it for the thousandth time. I'm also reluctant to do it because this issue has resolved itself in the past, albeit a tad quicker. For christ's sake, it even fixed itself for half a second this time, just enough to show me the splash screen lol. I'm very gentle with my evo and have never had any problems that weren't easily resolved with a little bit of work. I guess I could smash it until it works, and then if it ends up breaking then I win either way, but I'd really like to get my darling fixed. I know it's nothing compared to the cyanogenmod team, but I've flashed and flashed (almost always to cyanogenmod, what can I say it's perfect) and I have FINALLY got everything set up the way I wanted it, which includes manually going through and changing all the icons to custom pngs lol.
I guess I just don't understand why this would happen all of a sudden like this, I've onlu had it for three or four months, htc can't make that shotty of work can they? The other thing is I have a battery widget so as to make sure my battery does not get to hot, as well as having a setting in setcpu which stops overheating if it should ever occur. I really have a feeling it's something which can be fixed just because it has been magically fixed in the past and it was "fixed" for half a second today. Is there any way to adb into recovery even though the screen is black? Any suggestions help, I have important calls coming in as well as rather important calls to (hopefully) future employers. Of course I also don't want people to think that I am ignoring them, which isn't quite as bad but I still try to be as rude as possible :/
So...any ideas guys Don't wanna sound like I'm fishing for compliments, but you all are by far the best in the field. Keep up the good work (on my phone haha) Thanks so much for the advice you're going to give me on how to fix this up so I don't miss all my friends calls and texts until I get pissed off at. EDIT: Sry got block of text. tl/dr fix my evo that wont turn on asap thx

If this occurred while you were NOT changing anything with the radio partition or recovery partition then it's not a brick issue.
Sounds like you have a hardware issue.
Take it to the store.
If you smash it you will be paying $100 to asurion for a replacement as Sprint changed the TEP again.
Just wondering was your battery completely dead before this happened. I have read some people here and other places have said that if the battery completely dies that it won't charge unless you put it on a actual battery charger made for it. Does the charge light come on when you plug it in? Also, like my friend before me said, take it to Sprint. Ask them if they have a battery you could try. If it doesn't work it will eliminate the battery being the issue. If it won't boot they will replace it. They won't be able to tell if it is rooted because it won't boot. If you were flashing a radio and didn't let it finish or the battery died during the process, you are bricked.
Does the charge light flash when plugged in?

The light doesnt change
clean off the battery contacts
the same exact thing happened to me. i read in another post that the TP2 battery was a suitable replacement, so i checked the VDC and mA and they were exact and also the contacts were in the right place. (looks exactly like the evo batt just black instead of red in retrospect). It was a good call on the TP2 battery. My evos batt died on me tonight while it was charging. no light while plugged into OEM wall charger, no blinking, nothin, I wasnt even using it, never had a problem before. luckly i was just chargin up my old TP2 to give to my girlfriend. popped in that battery and the evo came right up. popped the evo battery in my TP2 and it appears to be charging. curiously the evo appears to be charging the tp2 batt now aswell. so i dont know what happened... one positive thing is that i know i have 2 batteries now. a negative is that my gf cant have my TP2 untill i get this sorted.
anyone have any insight as to what is goin on? or why this happened? if my charging port has gone bad why is the tp2 batt charging in the evo? and if the evo battery went bad why is it charging in the TP2?
i am using the stock sprint evo rom. not scared to root, just havent yet.

Take the original battery to sprint. Tell them the story and get a replacement, ask for some free accessory since you've helped them isolate a reliability issue.
LOL
There are two known issues with the Evo to be aware of. The first is the charging bug. If the Evo shuts off due to low battery level there is the possibility that the charging circuit fails to recognize the dead battery as even being there and will not charge. The workaround is to charge the dead battery in another compatible phone or use an external battery charger. This is supposed to be fixed in the next update but we'll see.
The second is the thermal sensor bug. The thermal cut off starts to trigger at lower and lower temps til even freezing the phone won't work. I thought the local service center was joking til I actually saw it reproduced. This is a hardware issue and the only fix is a replacement phone.
The first issue is intermittent but knowledgeable service centers are aware of this and will either charge the dead battery or swap out with a charged one.
The second issue is reproducible but can take some time to do so depending on how far off the sensor is. Again, knowledgeable service centers are aware of this and will want to reproduce it before ordering a replacement.
Not sure what technical thong is happening, but I do know I panicked when it happened to me, bit it turns out if you try to charge EVO from a USB port while its in the recovery mode it will eventually drain and **** off. I forgot I was on recovery mode and came back to what you described. After doing the swap with my GF's EVO and realizing my battery was fine, I remembered how I had left the phone in the first place and Googled it to confirm that will cause the dead EVO scare.

This has happened to me twice, but since I was on the extended battery from sprint, I would just pop my stock battery in and it powered up fine. Each time I just brought my battery in to sprint and they replaced it. Also, when it happened to me the charging light wasn't turning on or anything.

OK friends, same thing happening here to me today.
Here's my story: Last night, working fine, running stock turbo rom and netarchy cfs-havs-sbc-4.3.4 kernel for about a month, working great.
Used Kernel manager and flashed to cfs-suv-nohavs-nosbc and it was working great. Figured I didnt need the extra batter life/damage risk anymore. Went to sleep, phone on my bed.
Wake up today, phone is fully unresponsive. Take the battery out, put it back in, unresponsive. nothing whatsoever when holding down power, volume, etc.
When I plug it in, the orange battery led comes on and off.

Blinking charge light means that the battery v has dropped below the required v to turn on the phone. I see 4-5 Evo's a day like this as well as the charge bug.
I actually got it booting again somehow. Now, it consistently turns on, will boot to the bootloader, but recovery doesnt work and it wont boot into the phone. It does search for pc36 image though... i might try that.
I just sit here and shake my head on a daily basis when I see people talk about problems and inevitably, and I'm not saying this is applicable in this case, but they say in their post they were using ROM or Kernel Manager.....

ATT Samsung Galaxy Note pro 12.2 have bad motherboards!!!

I kept getting the BSOD ( blue screen of death) and even went back to the ATT Store and swapped my SM-907A for another one and it blue screened in under an hour. I called Samsung and they said they had defective motherboards. He mad up a ticket for me and I am sending it out to them before work in the AM. The ATT Store said they would return it for me with a 10% restocking fee. Really??? Whatever I really like the tablet and it was the last one available in the area so I decided to send it out to Samsung to replace the motherboard. A guy in another thread said he did this and now the tablet is 100%!!! SO anyone else have issues with these????
Yes. I did. I sent mine back to Samsung and it got replaced. Now I'm trying to figure out how to 're-enable knox
No problems here , had it almost a month.,
SM-P907A. Galaxy Note Pro problems
I am having issues with my AT&T galaxy note Pro SM-907A. Screen will actually flicker, then reboot. It will continue to keep rebooting like a bootloop almost. Everything is stock, I am not , rooted YET and have never tripped knox. (I dont want to give AT&T or Samsung any reason to say this is my fault for something I did to the tablet.) It started doing this at 20 % battery life and starts having issues around 45%. . It will stop doing this and actually stay on and operate correctly as soon as I plug it in to charge. There have been some instances where I see the battery start to get low, plug it in to charge, turn it off and literally 5 or 10 minutes later my battery shows to be at almost full charge. I really like the tablet and have had it as soon as it was released by AT&T. I was persuaded into ATT's next plan, which Iis a completely different story. But I dont feel like I should have to stay committed to the contract on the Next plan paying full price for tablet if they cant provide a fully operational tablet.
I have experienced the same bsod on my galaxy note pro 12.2, just purchased a month ago. AT&T called Samsung for me, and I will be shipping the tablet to them tomorrow.
Hopefully everything is resolved when it returns!!

I received my tablet back from Samsung, had it for three weeks now and the blue screen came back tonight while playing subway surfers with my daughter!!!!!! Obviously NOT fixed. Will see what Samsung does now. I'm ready for something new. A tab at this price should never have issues like this.

I don't have a att version but also gut 2 or 3 bsod already. Reboot via longpressing powerbutton worked.
But will send it back next time it happens.

Does this problem manifest itself immediately or does it happen after you've had it for awhile?
I'm happy, that I haven't see this issue with the P905

You believe it to be heat related? I have played games, nothing too intense. I have however had it get quite hot, I was using it in my office the other day and when I went to use the screen I noticed it was very hot. I was listening to a podcast so hadn't touched it for a couple hours and didn't realize it was getting hit by direct midday sun. I experienced no issues and it was very hot, the hottest I've ever had any of my devices get. It was similar to how my phone gets when plugged in and in the dock in the car during summer.

Flickering issue solved!
Try this at your own RISK!!
I recently solved flickering issue to my note 12.2 P900 wifi version.
I'd had to open the back cover.
The battery pushes on the cable for both the screen and wifi cable.
I raised the motherboard up with a thin piece of plastic sheet and
problem solved!
I had no warranty so I went ahead to do it.
The flickering solved. No flicking with Full brightness even when battery was 10%.
I did this after I replaced my Lcd cable from ebay seller.. so its the battery casing
pushing the Lcd cable connection to the motherboard.
Hope it helps someone as I have found no solution to this anywhere.
developer option, resetting ... none helped.
reply if anyone has a question
So Samsung received my note 12.2 907a yesterday the 8th at 1030 am according to ups. The ticket didn't show received till today the 9th. Well the repair date is listed as 1-16-15.:crying:. God this is frustrating, in hoping they replace the mother board.. It sucks we have no real recourse other than just sending our tabs back and hoping they fix it, meanwhile Att continues to collect

OK well it appears Samsung diagnosed the issue as " internal battery failure" so they replaced the battery!!! I am def not optimistic that this fixed the issue but will keep posting updates if anyone is curious.
I was just browsing the web this morning, and boom!!! It happened agaib!! Blue screen! Called Samsung, after an hour and a half, and them refusing to send a replacement, we have a ups label to send back the tablet. They said they will replace the motherboard this time. Last time they replaced the LCD. They expedited the service, so once they receive my tablet, they guarantee 3-5 days in their hands, then send back to me.
$900 tablet, sent it twice in less than a month. I should've waited for the nexus 9 lte!!!!

haha I just got a status update on mines as well too wojo797, apparently mines had the same issue as yours.
"Problem found:
INTERNAL BATTERY FAILURE
Solution:
REPLACED COMPONENT - S/W UPDATED - PASSED ALL FUNCTIONAL TESTING "
They only had it for 5 hours and now its been shipped out to me. I highly doubt this fixed the issue as well but we will see when I get it back. going to put it through some torture tests to see if it'll BSOD again. It always happens to me when I'm playing Clash of clans when I'm raiding. one time it happened when I was using my kindle app.

OK so ups dropped off my tablet yesterday, I played with it for 10 minutes. Guess what happened??? I decided to test it out so I played Marvel's contest of champions after setting it back up. Not 2 minutes in bang blue screen of death. Calling today to return a third time. If they don't fix it this time they have to refund or replace it with a equal or lesser device according to most electronic lemon laws I read
Im getting the same scren flickering and rebooting issue when bettery below 45% im going to have to send mine back in as well
