How in the world!!!! - Nexus S General

Can you own an HTC Phone again after purchasing this beast, its got everything))
JD

I don't know either.

I love my NS, in just about every way shape and form but the feel of how solid my N1 was, cant beat it
an BTW any way you can kinda shorten up your sig, maybe make it longer width wise

Cant even compare with N1. if N1 had 4'' SAMOLED, I would even look at NS. Ton of thought was put into N1, and yet ZERO though in NS (just plain Galaxy-like phone).

I like it's design and build a lot better than any HTC phone, I'll give it that.
That being said, I'll be getting a Droid Incredible HD when it comes out on Verizon to replace my OG Droid. The Incredible HD is probably the only HTC phone with a design/build that isn't just 'Meh' (or 'Ew') to me.

Thoughts on the Aria

I'm switching back to AT&T and selling the HD2, and it turns out they are having a promo right now to where the Aria is free. What are your thoughts on it? How is the modding community? Will I feel like I'm downgrading from the HD2?
I appreciate any thoughts on the phone.

You'll definitely be downgrading on screen size. But thats really about it. This little phone definitely holds its own in every other department. As far as modding goes, the ROM selection is limited but what few ROMs we have are very well developed. We've got some very experienced developers here that are always working on ways to improve the Aria experience so I dont think you'll be dissapointed at all as long as you can get over the screen size issue.
It is definitely a strong phone, but I wish I'd gotten the captivate simply for the size of the screen. If screen size is not an issue I would definitely recommend it. It's a scrappy little phone that's definitely worth the money.

I was using my V3xx (last of the good RAZR phones, IMO - before they started screwing up the design), up until I got my Aria a few days ago
I was using HD2 too, and upgraded to Aria and I am happy with it.
It's nice and little, no pocket hassel. It's screen res is 320x480, same as iPhone 3GS
Honesty its a great lil phone as far as developmemt on its kind of limited compared to ur hd2 dev.. otuer than that it does the job...

The screen is literally the only good thing about the captivate. My wife got hers a couple weeks ago and she hates it more and more every day and shes finally just gonna upgrade to an aria after comparing my aria to her captivate. The display is amazing but the phone was very glitchy and laggy out of the box. We've tried a couple different roms and they just can't compare in quality and reliability to what we have with the aria. attn1 has made this phone the best choice from att at the moment. Samsung makes a great display, but they do not make a good phone. Htc makes solid reliable phones and they def did it right when they made this lil monster. Get an ipad for christmas and be glad you chose the aria as a phone over the captivate lol .

Glad I saw this, I just got an Aria and was about to get the HD2 but thought the screen size might be too big for carrying it in my pocket, this makes me think I made the right decision. Thanks!
I love this phone. I haves friend with the 1ghz processer and belive it or not it isn't any faster. It may be due to the Res and screen size but the aria is pretty damn fast with the 600mhz in it. Battery life isn't to bad either. Its small but not to small

On battery life, I dont know about everyone else, but I use my phone everyday I would say a decent amount. I charge at night and never get below 50 percent

Is the Atrix a good phone?

How is the Screen? Compared to lets say SAMOLED and Retina.
Is the Sound Quality good in the music player?
Is it truly faster?
Camera Good?
Will 2.3 make it REALLY fast?
With the way phones move and become outdated will the Atrix ever realize its true potential?
How is the build Quality/In Person?
Are YOU overall satisfied with it?
There was SO much hype behind it and what happened?? Now people are saying it was a waste, not good, disappointment, etc.

Well, i have the atrix myself and honestly im thinking of selling it an buying the lg optimus 2x. the biggest plus for the atrix are the better battery, the superior screen, and well the 1gb ram as opposed to the 512 on the lg, webtop is not bad either, but the locked bootloader is a legendary fail on the atrix (including all the restrictions moto put on...), for instance the optimus already has a working cm 7 mod, i dont believe atrix will have one anytime soon. however if you dont want to mod it and stuff than the atrix is great for you. The phone is fast, camer is semi decent, some phones have worser build quality than others ( i exchanged mine due to a nonworking fingerprint scanner - it was just some software bug and got one that has a squeaky shell ... im still hitting my head against the wall for swapping it out ...). I have a simunlocked one thats att branded tho and i had issues with wifi, to get it to work in my country, which i luckyly managed to fix some now im in general satisfied with it, it does pain big time tho that we cant do cm7 or other custom roms/kernels on it.

Mine likes to watch.
I find the screen to be good, yes its only LCD but the resolution is high and its is sharp and clear, then I don't find AMOLED screens to be as superior as everyone tosses on about anyway.
Sound quality is great, dependant on source of course.
Camera i find to be very good, slight annoying delay after button press for it to focus, but I can get very good shots with it (for a phone). People that diss a camera phone because of pixel count are retarded and don't know **** about digital cameras.
2.3 gives quite a boost to most phones so I guess so.
There are several more Tegra 2 phones to come out yet, i think it will only mature as a device. Exponentially if Moto unlock the bootloader.
I dont think you will get better build quality in a plastic bodied phone.
Sure am.
Most of this talk is centred around the locked bootloader an motoblur. motoblur can be gotten rid of easily with root and all fingers crossed on the bootloader thing.

1. screen's not bad. Doesn't match in Retina and SAMOLED in awsomeness dept though.
2. Music as in by the phone itself or with 3.5mm jack in a car? Otherwise it's pretty good.
3. Yeah, it's pretty snappy. This is my 4th android phone. Fastest one so far. Not bad for a stock ROM.
4. I'm not keen on 2.3 other than it has a better app/task/battery management. Someone else has to answer this. Or google it.
5. IMO, this phone isn't selling like hot cakes. Therefore, Motorola will put this phone in the back burner for support. So no, I don't think so.
6. I like the build quality. I dropped my phone once. I was sitting on my chair and it fell out of my pocket. Not a scratch. Feels cheapish IMO. But it feels good in the hand. (That's what she said.)
7. Yes, I'm happy with this phone. Custom ROM with a dual core would be %100 orgasmic.
8. Developement community doesn't locked bootloaders. Since they can't create custom ROMs on it, why buy it y'know?
Yes

OFFICIAL: Samsung Galaxy SII coming to Sprint as the Samsung Within

Probably been mentioned before, but I don't really care...
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/16/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-us-carrier-names-revealed-atandt-attain-veri/
So I'm really reconsidering the EVO 3D now.
Hmm.. as much as I hate Samsung, that phone is beautiful. And if HTC is locking down the Evo 3D, I may actually have to purchase a Samsung.
It kind of hurts to say that.

If the 3D is locked down the way they say it is, flashaholics will either have to go through rehab, or get another maker's phone that isn't so locked down.
Yes. If the 3D is locked down. Coupled with Sammys new desire to change their bad rep.. with the Galaxy S looking to be one of the first phones officially Upgraded to GB. This phone is looking SO much better.
I just REALLY hope it doesn't have a crappy physical keyboard. I want it just the way it is. Sammy phones also have excellent battery life right out the box so waiting for a solid root method/custom roms/kernels won't be an issue.
3D is a gimmick at best. If the Samsung's battery life is significantly better than that of the EVO 3D, I'll have no choice. For me, personally, performance, battery life, and display quality are the most important things on a smartphone. The SII was overclocked to 1.5GHz yielding 4000+ Quadrant scores. That's impressive. The battery life is also pretty good coming from some reviews. I feel the 3D feature and camera on the new EVO will guzzle that battery. And I don't care how good qHD is, that Super AMOLED Plus 4.3" screen is pure sex. The slimness of the SII doesn't hurt either. I don't know about you, but I'm somewhat over my EVO's shape/style... hoping for something different and the EVO 3D doesn't really offer that.

While I agree about the 3D portion being a gimmick. It won't be killing the battery unless you're using it.. which is optional. I doubt people that think of it as a gimmick will use it much.
I am 100% with you on your points tho. Performance, battery life, display quality are most important. Samsung repairing their rep is also really starting to win me over. My mom has the mesmerize... that thing looks awesome and has excellent battery life. Plus she is about to get a GB update...
I love HTC.. but I just feel liek the new Sense 3.0 will bring the same poor battery life even with a bigger battery. It may be a little better.. but prolly not much. If the bootloader is encrypted.. then forget about it.

I somehow don't think it will tho. The commercial I seen on youtube was showing off how thin it was by sliding it under a door... I would hope they don't plan on killing that by adding a keyboard.

I'd take this over the 3d. HTC seems to always have battery issues with every phone, and I know they did with every phone I or a friend has had. Couple that with a locked down bootloader and this guy is going SGII (as long as the build quality is good).

Yes, it was the same way on the Galaxy S 1. Once it came to the US, each major carrier got a different version. Verizon/Us Cellular looked about identical with AT&T varying only a little.
As we know, the Sprint Epic 4G was the bastard child of the galaxy S line... horrible.

I jumped ship, farewell my beloved G2.

Since HTC decided to not make physical keyboards anymore, I was very let down. I tried out there ONE series and was greatly disappointed. I always felt HTC was the leader in Andriod based phones, but I feel like Samsung is taking the lead. ( I know, it took me awhile to admit this to myself)
Anyhow, I took the leap to the Samsung Galaxy SIII and I am really enjoying it. I have been using swift key app, which I am typing like a maniac on it and spells everything perfectly.
Ever since removing the service from my G2, I have been using it for an alarm clock. HOLY COW how much the battery life is when there is no data or service! It has been 5 days and I am at currently 79 percent battery.
I used the keyboard today after a week of not using it and wow I do miss it. What are you guys waiting for next? Is anyone jumping ship as well? I feel like there won't be any top tier phones with a physical keyboard anymore.
I'm also getting s3 technically I can't upgrade till Sept but I'm gonna call to see if they allow early extension on contract. I still love my keyboard but I can manage to live without it since the new phone has a huge screen

I had a Galaxy Note for 1 1/2 month and returnd to my Desire Z.
The Note hardware is great and the size of the display is fun to work with, but I missed my hw kb. I thought with a really big screen I dont need it, but its just not the same feeling...

I switched to the HTC raider/vivid because; 1 - My Desire Z decided it was going to stop accepting sd cards put into the slot (and yes I tried different sd cards and even replaced the sd card holder). 2 - I needed a large screen phone for my work because I work with a lot of excel spreadsheets.
Needless to say, after half a day and my battery already dead, I longed for my good old "Zed" back. I found someone who had smashed their screen and rebuilt the phone from two defective phones. I'm sorry baby, I won't leave you again! (Till a better solution comes along)
I'm sticking with my Desire Z from here on out until I find a better phone. Something with a keyboard or a better keyboard solution. Also it's got to have expandable memory and a good battery life.
Unfortunately my Z took a tumble down the stairs last night so I went and found an S3 on the local online classifieds. Not sure I like the no keyboard part of it all but I supposed I'll learn to adjust. So long Zed I'll miss you and the great people in these forums.

How do you like the Sense compared to the stock N4?
I prefer stock, but the new version of Sense really isn't bad. It does not slow the device down like their previous versions did.
I just got my HTC One from AT&T,coming from a Nexus 4. I have to say this is the only phone I could have switched from. The build is superior, new sense isn't bad although I prefer stock JB. But the keyboard is alsoa pleasant surprise on the One.

My Nexus 4 is going on ebay next week. Most overrated phone. I still have my white GNex so I will still get the updates.
Had my HTC one now since became available, moved from N4, still have N4 but so far not been tempted to go back. New sense is pretty good, would like to turn blink feed off but its not intrusive to be an issue. Sound quality is much better through my head phones over the nexus and camera is better. More storage is a bonus too. Over all a much better phone even better if came with untouched android. Main reason I changed is I'm a tech junky and like HTC kit been waiting for them to bring out something of this quality.
Now a Nexus like this... Yes please!

This will most likely be my plan as well. I actually ordered the 32gb from HTC last night. After selling my N4, I'll be down about $250 which I'll just consider as an upgrade cost. If the N5 follows the same pricing structure as the 4, I should be able to break almost even when selling/buying.
Hi all, I m on N4 right now and I do like it a lot, will probably give KLP a spin then watch if some CM and co are around on the One, then I ll get rid of it.
My question is regarding the battery?
I know, I know, everyone is different, but the personal habits should more or less carry between phones for one individual, right?
So please give me your impressions regarding this?

From what I've read, the battery life is similar to the N4. One of the reviews also said the One has a really good standby (screen off) battery life, but someone who actually has it will have a better opinion.
Given sufficient funds, I would strongly advise to get the One over the N4. I really hated screen responsiveness, camera and the weird feeling of the glass back. And the speaker on the N4 can't even be compared to the ONE. And Sense has really made a big step forward. As all the others, I like a stock experience, but can completely work with Sense 5.0 in a satisfying way.

Well, N4 is also quite good if I don't use it, but as soon as screen is on, the percentages fly away quite quickly. For example I use my N4 to read a lot, which is not very ressources intensive, but really the battery is going fast!
I m not trying to start an argument, I m simply curious

I feel you, I usually have my N4 plugged in when I'm at my desk, or else the battery will drop pretty fast.

I think the speaker will be my favorite change. If the N4 is in my pocket, I can hardly hear the sound, since the little speaker hole is so easy to get covered up. I'm also willing to get Sense a go, worst case I'll just load a launcher.
