Gameloft, if you 're not selling it, don 't tout it - G2 and Desire Z General

Anyone heard about GT Racing Motor Academy HD?
This game is the next best mobile racing game aside from Real Racing, which is idevice exclusive
It can be called the mobile Forza, it eats NFS for breakfast and makes Asphalt a thing in the past
With 24 manufacturers, over 100 cars and cost just 5 bucks, it is so enticing that I will grab it without second thought
But up til now no single android device is supported, be it qualcomm, TI, Droid series or the Galaxy series
So if the game is not available, why put it up?

Eh... How on earth did you buy this if it wasn't on the android market?

In fact Gameloft doesn 't sell its games on Android Market
They are sold on its website
And no matter which android device I choose, it says device not supported

I have had this same issue with quite a few gameloft games on their site. It's as if they're just dangling a carrot out in front of us...lame. Games I actually want to pay for, they should let me buy!
Edit: For clarification, I've never sucessfully been able to buy a game from Gameloft.

Subject: Android Games
Hello,
I recently bought a Sprint HTC Evo and I want to buy some gameloft games for it because I LOVE gameloft games I have a bunch on my Palm Pre. Anyways, when I go to the website the only option is for Verizon droid, Do I just select that even though Im on Sprint? If not how do I buy and download some gameloft games?
Sounds pretty good

just a random q... How good is the gpu on the evo? Will we just get the standard gameloft ports or actual games made specifically for it like the iphone?

the iPhone is a different beast...limited hardware specs to design for allows games to be designed for just it. Android is such a diverse market, I would doubt games would be designed "just for the evo". The Evo's market share isn't THAT big.
However, a number of newer android devices *are* getting good graphics chips in them (including the evo) and there are already games out there that have stated they will not work well on older hardware (Pre-N1 basically).
Thanks for the info...;
Just wondering since I had not heard to much discussion about it.. Personally I think those gameloft games are usually junk.. lets see though

Some of them are really good, Westside (It's like Grand Theft Auto) And Hero of Sparta are pretty awesome, Gameloft actually has some of the best games out there for phones. I just don't understand why they wont put them on the marketplace instead of only selling them through thier website they would sell tons more if more people knew about them and they could easily get them from the marketplace.
I've been playing dungeon hunter all day... Works great.

I don't know why they don't use the market either, or have demos.

gameloft games r not gonna b as good as the iphone's gameloft games for the evo.iphone has its own seperate GPU for 3d games thats y gameloft games on iphone r pretty heavy IPA files from 50mb to 200 mega bytes and very quality 3d graphics, i just WISH that HTC one day puts its own GPU as well, for the heavy 3d games.
hey i just hit gameloft.com from my evo and there are a bunch of games now available for purchase, 5 bucks each. it's not all of the android games though, missing dungeon hunter for example. but looks like u can get nova and gangstar

Sony 'unconcerned' by low Xperia Play PSone game sales (News)

Sony 'unconcerned' by low Xperia Play PSone game sales
Sony has said it's unconcerned by low initial sales of PSone games on Xperia Play.
Each of the five original PlayStation games available for the phone on Android Marketplace have shifted under 1,000 units since launching in early April. Here are the sales totals, courtesy of PlayStation LifeStyle:
Cool Boarders 2: 100-500
Destruction Derby: 500-1,000
Jumping Flash: 50-100
MediEvil: 100-500
Syphon Filter: 100-500
Despite the underwhelming numbers, Sony Ericsson head of market development Dominic Neil-Dwyer told the site Xperia Play was "shaking up" the mobile sector.
"I think there's also an awareness thing for people that are getting their hands on the device and where they are choosing to purchase games," he said. "There's only a few, at the minute, PlayStation One titles there, and there's more coming on a regular basis, and there's the whole PlayStation as a content provider exclusive to the device, the story about that, that will emerge and people will see.
"So, there's no concerns, it's a revolutionary device, it's shaking up the market, we're very pleased with it. In terms of getting the PlayStation Certified program out, generally, we're very happy. I think we'll make a full assessment of if it has achieved our expectations fully, further down the line, so we're very happy."
Xperia Play will be available on the O2 network (UK) in "early June", the service provider confirmed yesterday. While the device has already released on other major UK phone networks, O2 put off its own launch in light of unspecified bugs it identified with the hardware.
Sony Ericsson UK marketing boss David Hilton told CVG last month that the firm's planning to woo developers to bring a new type of PlayStation exclusive to market in the coming months - freezing out the likes of iPhone to release mobile titles only on its Xperia Play.

Any thoughts? isn't the Xperia Play selling very well in general? (anyone got any sales figures?) or do people prefer FPSE? or maybe the titles are too expensive?
Them games were medicore at their original release IMO. Wait for the US release, throw up some top class games like MGS or FF7 and it will be a different story. Saying that I already own most of the PS1 games I want to play in either disc or PSN form so I'll probably stick to FPSE rather than buying again.
Had no idea you could vet them in marketplace. Never seen them there

Their cost has been making an emulator and ripping the ROMs. Of course they are unconcerned with low sales, they didn't invest any serious sum of money.
The phone is selling well, but the PS1 games aren't. Most people are buying the Gameloft/Xperia Play designed games.
It's not much to worry about, i'll explain why.
Mainstream consoles normally get sold for extremely low profit. I believe the 360 and PS3 were even being sold at a loss. M$ and Sony make their money from the games. This makes for extremely cheap hardware. The Xperia Play, and mobile phones in general are not subsidised by games or software. You pay what the hardware is worth. Even if they sold 0 games, SE are still in a healthy position.
I deleted my playstation pocket app and play all the PS1 games on fpse. I would think most people are doing the same.
The Play needs a batch of original games. It has the power of a PS2+ on native games. Look at the graphics on backstab, they are incredible for a mobile phone. PS1 emulated games do not show off the Xperia Play all that well anyway.
I'm going with dsswoosh here, I think ps1 games are mostly good for marketing then anything else. On most consoles/handhelds backwards compatability is a thing used in marketing at the release of new devices but gets neglected later on as only a few people actually care for it (the ps3 got away with removing it in newer versions and nobody really cares that the x360 doesn't support al the original xbox games and a lot of wii owners don't even know they can play gamecube games on it).
Probably some major titles will be released around tactical data (US release or when competitors bring out something new or when the playstation suite comes to tegra 2 devices for example).

dsswoosh is right. if people want to play old games, they'll get their own emulator and play it for free.
there has been a lot of very very bad journalism out there though (if you can call it journalism). rather than reporting that ps1 game sales are low, many are simply saying xperia play game sales are horrible.
i read many interviews with game developers and companies like gameloft are saying xperia play game sales are only second to iphone. the overall android game development landscape is no where as strong as the ios but most of the bigger android players happily add xperia play gamepad support b/c it's easy and brings in additonal revenue with little additional work.

It seems SE still loses money

While companies like Samsung, Apple, HTC and LG are making lots of money, SE, with the ultimate XPlay still loses money and can't make it on top.
Why? This phone should've been selled like hot bread, it should've been as popular as the PSP or iPhone, it had and has so much advertisements, it's now on Minecraft site's front page, page visited by thousands of people.
With this sad news, they could leave the mobile industry in a few years...
I really don't understand.
As long as the community is alive, it's not took bad... (for us)
It sux that SONU ERIcson can't make money.. Not sure what they can do..

From the Article:
"This means that everything should be fine in Q3 and Sony Ericsson should be back in the black when the next report comes out."
As it also says, the earthquake had a huge impact on them, and this is after 5 consecutive quarters of profit. Wouldn't worry too much.
Earthquake in Q1 delaying the delivery of phones to all regions till start of Q3... No big surprise there.
However they should be fine soon.

I think they should have pushed the play more in the united states. I only saw 2 commercials and that was after the phone was already out in the market for a couple of months.

Yeah, maybe in Q3 they would have more profit, but just enough to cover that -50 mil.
The advertising campaigns in south america have been a real success. Most tweets in Spanish about the play are comments about them...
Also releasing it at the same time that they announced the Vita may be part of it. I know people who didn’t get one because the Vita is coming and this thing only plays PSX (And not many if you done use and emulator) and phone games. I was hoping for games designed with the play in mind and not just phone updated for the plays controls. This doesn’t work if not done right. A lot (not all) of people don’t like how they made the controls for all the good Gameloft and EA games.
It is not what I expected for sure. (But I still love it)

I have seen many in Canada. I watch a lot of Game related channels like G4TV.
I also agree with the other guys that say it will turn around soon.
Lack of mainstream games is the reason SEXPlay isnt doing as well as it should be.
I only bought the phone for emulation so I am happy whatever games do or do not get released for it.
However, I've read that 75% of Xperia Play owners have bought compatible paid games. That means that a niche is there.
Cant argue with that. I myself have bought most Gameloft games. Currently bought and loving Reckless Racing too
New Jrioni update has made Mame totally awesome aswell.

I have bought HEAPS of games and i don't usually do that for a phone.
I am pretty sure SE was losing this amount every year without having any of these droid phones but sales have picked up remarkably since they bought into android.
Sony has always threatened closing down their mobile arm but these figures aren't really anything alarming seeing that some regions are just getting the phone now and with the price drop more units are flying off the shelf.
I got all my gameloft games for free from underground community here, b'coz in our poor country, gameloft games are priced too high.. One gameloft game egual to a cost of my lunch + dinner here, sometimes even equal to breakfast + lunch + dinner

I have purchased a few.
I have also spent $Hundreds in iOS Games. The only thing keeping me from spending more on the Play is lack of memory. I don’t want to spend $70+ on a bigger SD card. The 16GB one cost me over $30.

poor country lol. That is no excuse.
In NZ and AU we pay 6 - 8 dollars per game and I also can get a cheap breakfast/lunch for that price.
Also rather annoying because the AUD is as strong as the USD yet we pay more.
Either way that is no excuse for pirating... You are essentially saying "I should get things free because I can't afford it" and you may as well walk into a Games store, take a game off the shelf and put it in your pocket and walk out, if you have that logic.

Some of the games look good, but none of them seem to be compatible with my GNote. The only option I get for download is "Uno"! LoooooL!
It says I can play all of those games on my one year old Desire HD, but none on my brand new GNote with one of the best GPU-CPU combo in the mobile phone market! Big fail for Gameloft... would have like to spend my money with them, but they won't let me!
Just search gameloft and most games will be available. I've played every gameloft game besides backlash on my gnote.
Don't go through the 99 cent link just search gameloft. Currently waiting for mc3 so I can show some support.

Not Xperia PLAY realted - Neo Geo X Release Date 12/6/12

Just in time for christmas. Heard about this late last year, January, this thing remind me of the Neo Geo pocket I had and loved in the late 90's and the Neo Geo I owned as a kid. Dont think I will get this but still its cool.....
http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/13/neo-geo-x-gold-release-date/
If I had the money just laying around begging to get one...... I dont know... doubtful seeing as how we can play these games on our phones now adays...
What are your thoughts on this device...?
Edit: Direct Link to Neo Geo X

I think fans of the system will still buy it, and their games are worth buying if available at more affordable prices. Their offering seems good too, dock and classic joystick. But they aren't giving enough info and hypes to get people interested. I want to know if they are selling other Neo Geo games. What OS is it running, will it have WiFi and online market, etc.
Just because people can pirate it play it on their touchscreen, doesn't beat playing it with a real joystick and connected to the TV and SNK fans will appreciate it. They could reboot their console by selling all their games to the handheld this way, at reasonable prices. If its just the 20 old games that are preloaded, then there isn't much incentive to buy and it will fail.

Yeah. I have done some searching and it seems its using a modified version of android. So most or all of the games are emulated. Still though.... this thing looks awesome and it's got the backing of SNK-Playmore which says a lot... especially when it comes to the thought of additional games. Its still 4 months away. Im sure we will see more info on it as it gets close. Needless to say I think it looks awesome, and I like the fact they went from a 3.5 inch to a 4.3 screen.
