Done a full backup, wipe and then flashed. Boots OK.
I have installed the google apps add on package, but no market or google account sync. etc. Will try to get working, having a look at the G2 forums...

Had a quick flash of the 2.3 rom. It goes on fine and it whizzes around lovely. Could dial numbers and rings, but no data though, from wifi or mobile.
Was worth it just to play with the sleep animation.

So you can confirm if you flash this you can revert back to previous rom ie 2.2.1 ? What where you on before that?

Tested and confirmed both wi-fi and mobile data working for me.
Did you do a full wipe first?
And, which radio are you running? I'm running the latest from the ROM leaked earlier this week.
Im running cyanogen rc2. Just did a full backup with rom manager and wiped data and cache, then flashed.
Had a play on 2.3 then rebooted into recovery to restore my backup. Phone is just the same as it was 30 mins ago.

Anyone found google apps add on that works with Gingerbread?
I installed it on my UK based DHD and it installed fine (for a non-working ROM). As already mentioned the data connection wasn't working but it's silky smooth. The keyboard needs the resolution sorted out as it's quite small. I didn't install gapps but most wouldn't work anyway. Did a recovery and restore and now back on Stock Sense.

I am using the new radio from the RUU this week
Gapps doesnt work spoke to some people on the desire IRC channel and they said to remove some NetworkLocations.apk file but its not even inside the ROM so ?
Think we need to remove that apk from the google apps zip file. Will it need re-signing or can clockwork recovery flash non signed zips?

anyways think i got gapps going , and if you update your su binary thru super user by mistake you need to use this for r/w instead of adb remount.

the one downloaded from the market has rooting capabilities built in. check it out. i rooted mine beforehand so can't verify how well the market OCLF works.
One click lag fix from market is a must have app . It'll root, unroot, lag fix and unlag fix. Just the ****.

same with mine when i tried to install it.. you need to have 40% of battery or more in order to install the lag fix, at least that's what happened to mine..
charge it up then install it..
Did your first boot take like five minutes? Really thought I bricked my phone, but it finally booted.the reason I ask here is because another guy in the main thread had that same issue but was ignored. Boot takes at least 60 seconds of black screen before the boot animation loads..

I just DLed "one click lag fix" on Tuesday. Worked great for me. Does everything for you. However if it fails do a reboot between steps.

Your next step is to install ext2 tools. then, the option to apply the lag fix will be enabled. two more steps and you're done.
When you install the OCLF app, you have to create a partition. When you undo the lag fix, does it undo the partition you made? Or, would you have to undo everything AND uninstall the whole app?
I think the partition created when installing this is causing a problem with titanium backup (it's backing up to my internal SD instead of the external SD card). I want to work backwards for a second and see if that indeed is the problem, but I don't know how to modify or even verify existing partitions.

I have been wondering if we could install multiple ROMs in our phones at once and switch between them as we would wish. Thereby skipping the pain of making contacts and app backups.
After a bit of Googling, i came across an app named "Boot Manager",which allows you to install 5 ROMs at once, but alas, it doesn't support our defy...
It would be great if i could have MIUI in my phone besides CM7,
Afaik, Technically it IS possible...
The ROMs would be installed in our SD Card and the phone will then be able to boot images of the desired rom, we wish to switch to.
If anyone has any information, then please share.

The boot manager app can be used in Defy as well by configuring it manually using the adb shell.

I have read in the help manual that the settings can be configured using adb.
But i dont have a pc with me these days.
So either if someone who knows how to use adb can find out the sizes of the folder and share here, or we will have to find a way to find out the size of the root folders using terminal emulator.

The Total size that is allocated to these folders, not the used space.

The settings need to be configured for which the size of the folders has to be known, and that can be done via adb.

How did you find the following values?? Using adb?
Next when i configured my boot manager with the settings provided by you and tried to install a ROM into the SD card it first asked me to choose b/w Ext2 or Ext4.
Then on selecting any of the above an error popped up saying "Error making img" - Error making img to hold filesystem.Please try again.
Yes using adb....u try out for your phone maybe our settings are different

Cant get it to work unlocked bootloader stock rom with doom kernel v10. Flashed generic uk 42 rom using flashtool. Installed dooms kernal v10 without boot. Straight go into recovery. Flashed the recovery zip version. Boot up... after sony logo, hangs at blue screen with no network svc. Cant move on. Reboot same issue. Cleared data n wipe cache same result. Help pls

I just wiped and reflashed tweaks rom version 5.
updated to doom kernal 11, installed wifi zip.
booted phone, set up wifi, and apn.
follwed this step,

Rebooted phone 2 times, fixed permissions a few times but still almost every app force closes.

Oh yeah, i have an xperia play gsm.
Partioned my SDcard with EXT 4.Then selected all the fourth options ,SDgot wiped,put the mod onto my SDC and
nothing happened -_-

Weird - the only thing I had done to mine was root with Vipermod - update installed fine, broke root, voodoo root keeper restored root without issue....
I didn't really have any of the issues that most people had - tho the screen tearing on the recent app list now appears to be gone....
I have the dlpkg if anyone wants it, i just have to transfer it to my PC. Looks like the kernel update, is only 11MB so it might upload here if I pack it in a zip..
Looking at it, there is a blob file almost certainly a new kernel, some system patches, lib patches, the updater script is tremendous.. and almost all if not all system apps get a patch too.
Nope, even though it is 11.54MB, and the forum claims that 11.81MB is the max, it won't let me upload it..I guess if you want it PM your email I can send it over..
Scratch my previous - the screen tearing issue on the recent apps list still exists past six or seven recent apps...

I got mine around 10 am. But what I was doing when I got it was a wipe. After the wipe was when it told me I had an update. So far seems pretty good. Of course that's been said many times only to have to eat them. Time will tell.

It is prolly because I Modified the system (Removed bloat and changed a few things. Lol.
I may re install it as stock rooted and try again.

Yes, the updater script does a fair bit of assessing of your system..including all your bloatware that I can tell..because all of that is patched.

Hello guys so I recently switched roms to Evo x4. Then i started bringing in backups from titanium backup like contacts, media,etc so then i rebooted. I left wifi on but when reboot done, wifi just kept on scanning. so using root browser i found that my wifi folder and the other file(located on very bottom) had wrong permissions. Every box was.ticked. so i repermissioned them and rebooted but to only see that my permissions had not been saved. someone help.using 3g now but not for long

never use titanium back to restore system apps - if you did reinstall the rom - only restore user apps
with wifi make sure you are using the correct wifi driver for the kernel you are using
there are no bugs like you mentioned in evo x4 so reflash the rom and both ota updates and then only restore user apps

Just fix permissions in recovery/advanced options.....
And also while changing permissions mount system as rw...
For wifi u can try flashing dhd stock zip. (for hells fusion its dhd1.1)....
Don't fix permissions ^^
You'll end up having force closes of system apps after you reboot!
Uninstall Pure Performances and then see if the wifi works or not.
First i set right permissions, then shutdown, then to cwm,then advanced>fix permissions, then reboot now every thing is okay. Tq to all who help

Titanium Backup is the cause. I have experienced it before. You can reflash Evo x4 rom and everything will be alright. But don't restore that backup. If you restore the backup on where you took it (ex.Stock ROM), then it will be alright. The toggles, apps are worked on the Evo x4 ROM. Therefore, if you flash stock apps again, it will cause the instability.
