To my knowledge that won't work. He will have to insert another carrier's simcard to get the unlock code prompt.

[Q] Euro firmware with orginal SIM card

I just received my Samsung Galaxy Tab (AT&T). I am reading various posts before I start unlocking the tab and loading new firmware.
Just 1 noob question: can the euro firmware work with original SIM card that only supports data?
Thanks,
Yes it can. Make sure you write down your apn settings and skip flashing a new modem. I would recmend Roto JMEv4 rom. I am running this on my att with no issues.

Thanks a lot for the response.
If I do get a new SIM card with voice and data in the future, do I need to re-flash the Tab to allow the Tab work with the new SIM card? Can I just flash the new modem?
Thanks in advance.
oh. I haven't actived the data-only SIM card that comes with the Tab yet ( there are 2 of them. 1 is already inserted ).
I went to check the APN settings, there was none probably because the SIM has not been activated.
Another noob quesiton, do I have to active the original data-only SIM card first because I try to flash the Tab and other SIM card with data and voice?

Bought Phone from sprint. Will inserting the sim card lock the bootloader?

I want to be able to remove Sprints crapware. Should I unlock the bootloader before inserting the sim?

I might already be locked being it's a Sprint variant. Boot it up without the sim and if the unlock switch isn't greyed out then flip the switch. After that no sim can relock it

Bootloader is unlockable regardless.
From the way I understand it, if you boot the device with Sprint SIM, it will carrier lock the device. Meaning you will have to wait for Sprint to push updates for OTA.
But I am on Sprint and can confirm you can still unlock and root the device as normal instructions for the device state. And also sideload updates etc with no issue.

What are you talking about? There is no "crapware".
I bought the phone at Best buy and use Sprint. It locks as far as roaming and it hides the tethering option but I did switch the Sim and it worked on FreedomPop fine

Is your phone the Sprint variant? If so, what did you have to do to get it to work with a Mexican sim?

If you boot into the bootloader, the phone will read "Sprint" or "OpenUS" next to variant.

is your phone unlock now?
Have any of you tried the *#272*IMEI# method to change the CSC? Globe is not locked, it just appears to be because it is loading the Globe customization since it is detecting the Globe CSC. I changed mine to XTC.
