Market Server Error - Droid Incredible General

Anyone having an issue with the market where you can download apps etc. But if you try and look at "My apps" or "My downloads" it gives you a "server error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen?"
Started last night, tried everything I can think of.
Anyone see this before?

Ditto for me. FYI, my market app was an apk install. I didn't wait for automatic update.

There's my error, occurs after clocking my downloads,
Tried:
Fix permissions,
Clear cache/data of market app
Clear davlik cache
Clear cache in clockwork
Install apk of new market app
Uninstall updates of market app
Market doctor in titanium
Nandroid to my last known good configuration
Anyone have another idea short of factory reset/flash new rom? That's my next step but I wanna give it a few days to see if it possibly could just be a Google server error for me.

I've been having the same problem since yesterday with different roms and new and old market.

I also have this problem, tested on every Rom in Rom Manager. I believe the problem us that I am using google as apps for my main email address. I tested with a factory reload with my gmail address and the market worked. Then I tired adding an credit card to my google apps account from my pc without any luck.
I previously made purchases with my google app account, but am no longer able to even view previous transactions. The problem is on google ends, but I have no ideal in to fix the problem or who to contact.
To complicate things further any new google app account works in purchasing apps, just the account that had previous purchases before google upgraded google apps to allow google apps account to work across google products

Good to know its not just my issue. And FYI, im using a regular Gmail account, not Google Apps account, so at least it doesnt appear to be an issue limited to that for me.

Had the same problem running Redemptive rEVOlution 2.1.3. I just started yesterday. I didn't update the Market, tried clearing cache/data/dalvik cache. Also on 3g and on wi-fi. I did update the kernel a couple of days ago and can't remember if I accessed the market since then (I think so though). I finally gave up and decided to flash to a different ROM today. Going back to SR for a little while. I am also not using a Google apps account.

Did that fix your problem? flashing a new rom?

I've been using the same ROM and Lou's #4 kernel for a couple weeks now. Only recently I've notice issues with the Market. I'm sure future updates will clear things up.

For the most part. I see it sometimes but I can hit retry and it eventually goes through. I also loaded the new market though.

For the record, I have the same issue on my Desire HD.

I installed the market early myself. Regular Google Account.

I was receiving the market error as well but about 30 minutes ago it started working.

Same here.
I got to work, tried it on both WIFI and 3G, appears to be all good now.
Must have just been a google server side issue after all.
Edit: and I did get automatically updated to the new market once I went in the second time. FWIW

[CONFIRMED] New Google Market working with MarketAccess in Canada

I just rooted my I9100 XXKG3 Bell phone with CF-Root and installed MarketAccess to allow downloading of US restricted apps. The cool part about this app is that it actually works with the new market version. Notice how my Bell Canada Galaxy S2 phone shows as being enabled into Market:

So far I installed Google+, Books, Music and TV Remote (I plan to get Google TV soon), all working perfectly with my US Google Apps account. So it is possible to get/use US based applications in Canada.
For those interested to learn more how I did it, I use StrongVPN as service for a US IP address in New York and have a Cisco E4200 DD-WRT router connected to my Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall SRXN3205 router. In this way, I get the best of worlds... a wireless Canadian and US IP address. I got this setup going originally because I wanted to see all the US based movies for Netflix on my TV, while in Canada. I used a free Google Apps account and set it to United States as base country. I can sync now my mail, contacts, music, videos, etc. with one single custom account (@yqed.com) on both my Samsung Galaxy S2 and Tab. For paid apps, I use my regular Canadian credit card, it works fine to purchase any apps. The key (I think) is the Google Apps account to be set in United States.
Here are some screenshots:
hmm... i'm using the latest Android Market and /or Google Market and i don't even need to do any of that
it works just fine in Windmobiles
Do any of US restricted apps install and actually work for you? You have a Canadian provider SIM card in your phone? One thing is sure, it does not work with Bell... as soon I disable the MarketAccess, all US apps are gone. All my restricted apps work properly, for example I'm able to sync music from my PC to all my devices with Google Music. The songs pop right away into app. I was also able to rent and watch a video from Google Videos, not that I plan to use this service but still...
More updates... I noticed that even if I disable the MarketAccess, I still have full access to restricted apps in my browser. I removed the app, did a cache cleanup with CWM and restarted the phone. The apps are not visible anymore into Market but I was able to install fine Google Videos from the browser. That is nice... Let see if Google remembers my fake carrier forever.
Has Google lifted market restrictions? I just tried searching for an app that before I was restricted to and I was surprised to see I can download it now!
Heh, really? What app was it? Before installing the MarketAccess today, I was getting the dreadful "This item cannot be installed in your device's country" message.

Ooops... not really, maybe just the app became available, still can't access Google Music... too bad
That is easy to fix, you only need a VPN provider. Then it will work.
The secret is to actually have the router running as VPN server, or else your app will detect the Non-US IP and fail miserably. DD-WRT does that very nice.
will try that but how about if I'm away from the router? Will MarketEnabler do the trick for Google Music?
bverilo said:

You only need MarketAccess (MarketEnabler is confirmed not to work with the new Market version) to install the Music app and you need an US IP to configure it for the first time into your phone. This is critical, using a VPN directly into your phone won't work. If the app detects an non-US IP, it will not enable the streaming features over a Google account. Once the software link is created to your account, you can use/stream music from any IP in the world. It would be pretty useless to have the app if Google allows you to download your music ONLY when you are in States.
I tested the app to upload new songs from PC with my Canadian IP, as well streaming music on the Music app. It works as intended. This how the app streams a 320kpbs song:
This is how the app widget looks like:
I see... Thanks for the heads up, will get to setting up a US vpn first prior installation. The app looks really cool, something to look forward to.

Android Market Works In Browser 6.2.1

UPDATE:
Apparently the URL redirect was eliminated but you can only download through the browser, at this point, if you had the Android Market app (or maybe just GoogleFrameworkServices) prior to the update!
I was thinking that Amazon was loosening their grip by removing the redirect but it turns out that they just realized they don't need to block it because you can't download anyway :/
I didn't see this posted here yet...
Since the 6.2.1 update have you tried accessing the official Android Market in the browser? Not only was I able to access the Market, in both Silk and Dolphin, but I was able to successfully install apps (I only tried Words with Friends and Yahoo Mail at this point).
Even when I was rooted before the update if I type the url into the browser it would still redirect to the Amazon appstore so I assume Amazon loosened their grip on this?!
Try it out! Hopefully this works for everyone and isn't a fluke with my tablet!
I tried to post screenshots but apparently I haven't posted enough yet /

Wow - just checked it out. I can verify this now works.
So I ask myself since I am just above the general users typical use, now with Android Market open, do I need to root anything in the future?

Awesome, I'm glad to hear it!! Were you rooted prior to the update? I had been rooted and even after the 6.2.1 update I have a working Android Market app so I was wondering if that was why it was working in the browser.
As far as reasons to root... when custom ROMs start popping up there will be more reason. In the meanwhile all the Google stuff can be accessed through the browser
thats weird, did you have android market installed before updating (to 6.2.1) ?
all reports saying that amazon no longer blocks access (redirection to amazon's own appstore) to the android market website "but" you can't actually install from the market website
can any one else confirm that
I read this on Engadget earlier, this news is absolutely fantastic. The ability for normal market apps on non-rooted Kindle Fires is a huge plus for the tablet, even if many Market apps don't run on the stock OS.
As for rooting, it is mildly annoying that Amazon is choosing this route, but understandable. From a cost perspective, it is very expensive for them to deal with all the users who think they brick or actually brick their Kindles during the root process or the installation of a custom ROM.
Yes - rooted with Market Place already installed. Good for me - not so much for my bud who just picked up the KF. I am sure he is sitting there going "what is he talking about!".
You can look but no touch.
I picked an app (AirPenguin...haha) and it noted "sending to Kindle" - so it recognizes the device as well.
I am not sure what to make of it for now.
Custom ROMs - yeah, I don't have those skills yet. I only rooted following the thread last week... and then stopped Perhaps if the root ever is accessable again, I will give it a go. Maybe....

Yes, I had the Market App installed before and after the 6.2.1 update. When I accessed the Android Market via the browser I just logged in and navigated to the free apps and tried a few. Since my original post I have download a half dozen (including the XDA app ). I was able to pick from the list of my devices, I'd select Amazon Kindle Fire as the device and the downloads worked flawlessly.
The apps are either compatible with the device or not. When comparing apps to what I can potentially download through the app vs. the browser I can see no difference.

nope you are right
we just gotta find a way to associate without root
Although it's great that we can add market apps without sideloading i really hope that someone is able to root the kindle once again. The whole reason I bought this thing is so I can tweak the hell out of it.
Plus you know we are all going to want ICS on it once the ROMs are done. I am just totally bummed because I was literally sitting down to install CM7 when my update happened.
Still not all apps work I tried fontline commando and said not compatible or sometime along those lines
So the market stopped working for you guys after the update? I got updated to 6.2.1 the the market stills works fine through the app for me. What up with dat?

OK this worked, and now I've broken it trying to fully fix the Android Market App.
Some others have said reinstalling GoogleFrameworkServices.apk will fix the Android Market place if it stopped working post update. After reinstalling this app (the same version I originally installed, but from the sdcard instead of /system/app) I now get a Market Force Close when I try to installer through the browser, and also on every Kindle reboot!
Anyone have any idea? How do I undo this!
Google should release a root for the kindle fire #payback

Wow, works for me too! I was rooted before and I had the market. I ran it from the kindle launcher slideshow and it worked! THe only thing that doesn't work like it used to is that the default lock screen is still there when I use widget locker.
I have yet to find a version of the market that won't force close under either dolphin or the amazon fire default (silk) browsers on 6.2.1. I have also just found out that amazon has just changed the market around so that you can't even download free apps without one-click enabled and a credit card in place... I am not prepared to do that for my teenager - I love her to pieces - but one bump and I owe? No thank you! So I figured I would go this route instead. Now without rooting it, I have the free market store installed and she's good to go. You guys rock - thanks!

Malware issue?

So one night, after a few too many, I stupidly downloaded a version of Madden off the internet. After minimal research, my intoxicated brain figured, what the hell. After later reading this game was most likely malware,I deleted it and anything I could find in storage that seemed related. Not sure if this is the culprit, but ever since around then I get these yellow pop ups in my Yahoo mail app. See attached photo. I don't get them in my Yahoo mail on my pc. If I click on it, (had to try it once) it takes me to a "web page not available" screen. I've since done a complete factory reset, manually gone into cwm recovery and formatted everything, including the SD. Flashed a new Rom, Goldeneye, and once booted, first installed Yahoo mail app, fresh from market, and only Yahoo mail app and bam, Yellow malware looking email pops up first thing. I even changed Yahoo password on my pc, installed trend security, and at one time Norton. Neither showed any issues. Only have issues with Yahoo mobile, no other apps. Haven't seen any abnormal data, or messaging usage, and no one has informed me of receiving suspicious email from me yet. What is it, and how the hell do I get rid of it?

Sync contact images with FB / other social media and store as account info

I've got an S8, but this problem might be "Android generic" as well...
I've got one Exchange, one Google account. I'd like to sync the two, so that all my contacts are in BOTH places. While I was doing this, I also wanted to update the contact pictures with whatever my contacts have set up on social media (read: Facebook - Google automatically gets the Google Plus image if someone has an account there). Note that I want the pictures to be ACTUALLY stored as part of the contact information in a given account - not just displayed by the phone through some trickery.
Thus far I've had only limited success. I was able to copy the accounts using Contacts Organizer app (paid) and I used Sync.ME to get the latest social-media images. But while the Contacts Organizer allows me to merge the accounts nicely (there's some manual merging that needs to happen in Google Contacts at the end, but it's not that bad) and it even allows me to "copy" the contact information from Sync.ME (which contain a current picture), UNFORTUNATELY, the copying process seems to take picture miniatures, rather than full resolution images that are available. Obviously with Sync.ME installed and configured, the phone displays the high resolution pictures where available, but this information isn't actually saved - as soon as I remove Sync.ME the pictures vanish (and since the app displays ads, I'd rather not keep it around).
How do people update the contact pictures these days? I can't imagine people go around and take photos of each other all the time - I'd imagine people rely on social medial profiles of their friends for the latest selfies and such. Except that Facebook app no longer seems to synchronize contact information, so that leaves Sync.ME (which, in the end, is an add-filled product) or manually updating the images - which I don't believe people actually do. So... how do people manage the images? How can I sync these things up?
Search Google Play for "CoSy - Contact Sync ", I use it and it works like a charm!
i use Sync.me
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.syncme.syncmeapp&hl=ro
guys,
the sync problem between FB and Google (android) it's from FaceBook.
They blocked the android access to FB api's.
Hi,
Sync.me, as Eusuntflopi mentionned, works like a charm for me
Sync.me would only match about 20% of my contacts with facebook. CoSy matched 100% and even searched facebook for the people that I didn't have on my friends list. It also seems to save the pictures to my google account so if I remove the CoSy app, the pictures remain.
Thanks for the replies everyone.
Sync.Me was good, but it's a paid app and the free version was pretty annoying to use. Plus, it doesn't ACTUALLY place the photos on the contacts - it just adds another account to your device which has the photo information. CoSy actually adds the photos to the account data, which is what I was looking for. Thanks again!
Syncme sucks, i tried it. Theres an app called "contactsyncduck" i found online when i was searching for something that would work. Google search "FB app" and it should be under images. You can download straight from there. Cant miss it, it's a duck. Lol. Its the only thing that works. I just did it. Its a pain because it takes time to do. You have to get the fb profile id number of every contact and write it a special way in the note section of the contact. Make sure you delete any picture you have attached to your contacts before you sync or you wont see their fb profile pic. App is awesome, syncs everything. Works amazing, you just gotta be prepared to spend some time doing this. Totally worth it, i swear! I have an android phone so im not sure if it works with iphone. Good luck! Read the instructions in the "about" section of the app and follow them. Will not work otherwise, its not automatic. Good luck!
CoSy did the trick for me. I will continue to utilize it and see if it holds out over multiple days/weeks.
I've been using the Sync.me app but recently it hasn't updated the contact pic even though it has a matched up FB profile.
Going to switch to Cosy and see how that works out.

Same here! It actually started last night with that "harmful app" notification. I can't find it in the play store either.
It was probably pulled for some reason... I'm hoping it's something simple and it'll be back up on the play store.
I'm gonna wait out a couple days and see. Maybe email the developer.

So I recently got the Black Shark 2 Chinese ROM version and I followed the steps here:
c(dot)mi(dot)com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1869591&extra=page%3D1
(just replace the (dot)s with actual dots if you want to see the web page)
It worked and I could now use Google Play but upon downloading Google Maps and other associated apps requiring location, It keeps giving me the "Google Play Services are updating" notification and it's been that way for a week now (How long does the updating even take?)
I enabled all location permissions for all apps and still it's a no-go.
Additionally, when trying to make in-app purchases for google play games, it gets stuck at loading, never going through to the billing pop-up part where I select my payment methods.
I've gone nuts going through all the usual self-fixes. Tried rebooting, clearing cache, clearing data, reinstalling, reformatting, but still the problem persists.
Please help me, I'm at my wits end. :crying:

I did a search by saying Google in the Google shark app store section (as in the image below) and I installed the application in Chinese. I installed the app and added to the play store. I've installed Google services, but I'm getting some errors

Also have this problem. Also the calendar is not synching with google calendar. How to fix this?
Just allow all permissions on the Google Play Services and you're good to go. Maps works perfectly fine here.
All google services (Contacts, Maps, Drive, Gmail, etc.) are working fine for me now except the Calendar. Hopefully someone has had luck in making the Google Calendar sync on our Black Shark 2 devices.
How about GOOGLE PLAY GAMES guys? Is it working properly in your device? Mine is buggy, I cant play most of the new games. Pls help.

Thanks God! Its working now!! Thank you for that, I was having doubts buying the china rom (joy ui with overclock) because of the incompatibility issues of some google apps, but it seems to be working now, just set all permission to all google apps to ALLOW.

Double check the permissions. You might have missed allowing read/write permissions as it is "inquire" by default. Anyway, you can allow all permissions by accessing the three-dot menu.
PLay services updating
Does anyone have the play services updating while using uber or cabify?
I clear cache, clear data, Reinstall, allow to all permissions but still not loading the maps(notice that google maps works perfeclty)
thanks!
Cant switch account or topup using google accounts
Am I the only one who has this problem? Google play services is working now but i still cant switch accounts or topup using google and all my permissions are allowed

Lock your PlayStore in background. Black Shark 2's task management is as aggressive as Greenify's Aggresive Mode that's every time an app calls PlayStore for in-app purchases, IAP doesn't work because PlayStore's process is killed.
in app purchases google play
on blackshark skywalker you need to turn on permission of the auto start management for google play store. that way, playstore will pop up in game.

Just received my black shark 2 in USA Android play store was already installed. The seller, Trading Shenzhen, may have done this. Upon initial runs, could not get by the login screen of play store. Ran some updates and eventually play store worked. Seems like logging into mi account and running some mi updates and/or updating the Joy UI resulted in play store and Google services working. Really no effort or anything special on my part to get this going. There were three or four Joy UI updates that ran. Play store started working after the first or second Joy UI updates. Did all this on wifi before inserting sim chip. All good after putting in T-Mobile USA sim chip. So far so good!
update - Google Assistant won't run. It starts and says device not supported. Anyone else experiencing this?
