blurry incoming text message pictures - Nexus S General

Hi peeps. I got my new ns today and no matter who I get a picture text from, the picture is really blurry. I even took a nice picture and texted it to myself. Still blurry. We have a cliq, 3g slide, vibrant, and a nexus one at my house. I receive blurry pics from all of them. Is there something wrong with my phone?

maybe your carrier downgrades the pictures?
1)try emailing it to your computer and see if its blurry. If its clear its your carrier/mms setup
2)try texting a picture from your n1 to ns and if its blurry its your carrier.
if all that fails maybe its defective.

Na its normal... the screen is bigger than the picture intended. Works good on 3.7 inch screens but everything above that kinda gets un focused or pixelated.

All of the phones I listed above are active on the same tmobile shared family plan. They can all send clear pics to each other, and I can send clear pics to them.

I just did a test, and have the same issue.

I just called tmobile to check on things and everything looks alright they say. They also told me it sounds like a phone issue, not a service issue and referred me to samsung. Well of course they are closed right now but here's the number:
888-987-4357
Please post any updates or if this is also happening to you. Thanks guys.

I need to keep tabs on this one. Let us know what Samsung has to say about this one.
BTW, I tested it with both stock, and handcent, and have the same issues with both.

I'll update tomorrow after I talk to them.
In the meantime can we get some other ns owners to send pictures to themselves and have some friends/family send a pic to them? Post results here?

Has anyone tried getting an image sent to them and then downloading it to view in gallery or on a PC?
Any difference in quality?

Have the same problem

I did try this too. I just forgot to mention it. The quality is just as bad.

I know some leaked Froyo builds on the Galaxy S Vibrant had this issue.

On my Nexus One
I just updated to a newer Cyanogen version and it worked. I think this is software related not really carrier or hardware.

Can you link to what you used to fix pls?
Or at least some more info? You used the cyanogen camera?

I'm kinda sure all android phones do this. I know my G2 also has burly contact pics. I've read it's because of the google sync.

YESSSSS

Yay guys, Our beloved HD2 beats the contenders in Gadget Show's test.
John Bentley even adding codicil that, as well as being a potential iPhone beater, the hardware is superior
I love this phone

Clickety website. Tonight's show will be up to view soon.
Damn - was about to come on and post exactly this.
Just watched it with my wife who loves iphone
Beat the motorola driod & nexus one - and (as said) nearly the iphone. Bearing in mind the gadget show loves the iphone to death :S
Ouch...the Nexus One took a panning
Considering how Apple biased these guys are, I think they must have been very impressed with the HD2. For me, the HD2 is the best phone available at the moment.
http://fwd.five.tv/gadget-show/videos/jon-test/samrtphones
the spelling mistake in the URL is on purpose, , , ch5 have spelled it wrong
and who cares what anyone else think, I, and I repeat I think this is the best device for ME, period. Don't you think?
It's nice to see media are noticing phones other than Apple branded ones!
Why can't I see the video? Says I can't watch from my current country/location? What gives?

Also bearing in mind the review focused on two of the 'weaker' aspects of the HD2, the camera and text input, it just shows how good the HD2 really is (I personally think the camera is very good, up with my Ignito/Diamond if not better, and once I installed Swype - wow fantastic!)
I haven't had a single crash, no obvious issues with my 1.48 ROM + camera fix, totally happy so far

TBH the review itself is superficial, complete with classic english eccentricity, it's the outcome that's surprising considering the gadget show's iPhone fanboys

the region restricted video content has not been in place long. can't see the point of a site like others that restrict viewing to the UK where it airs anyway.
I always thought that the Gadget show was sponsored by Apple as they are so biased!
One thing though...Why didn't they include the Iphone as part of the tests?? surely that would have been a fair comparison....Well we all know that the Iphone would have been knocked off it's perch and they wouldn't want to show that!

Tango Video Chat App is now live

Tango has released their video chat for iOS and Android, you can find it in marketplace or at Tango.me
Might not show up in the Apple market just yet, they're a little slow.
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.
So does this mean we can video chat with iPhone users as well?
Fring already lets you talk with iOS devices.
What does this do differently?
Thanks for the info, will check it out.

I downloaded Itunes to updated her IPhone, and the damn thing wouldn't even update(3G one) Took me 3 times to download the updated for some reason, and then it tried to backup her phone and itunes kept freezing. So she said i think i cant get a upgrade the the Iphone 4, so we log into he account(which takes about 3 min) her bill was 100 bucks and she had a 39.99 plan(i about pooped myself) but with all the additions(text, web, etc.) it brings her monthly bill up that high.
Man im so happy im with Sprint!!

No its an ota update. A new rom that includes tmobile tv. And excited? The only reason I would get excited would be for CM.

Is it just me or does this MobiTV just suck? Besides the $9.99/mo. fee, the quality of video is garbage. If it's on the small size it's half-way decent, but too small to watch comfortably. If you go full screen, its pixelated, blurry and choppy... even on WIFI. Certainly NOT worth $10/mo. for me! If i want to see The Office clips, I can catch it either on Hulu or my cable box on-demand. What a waste of an OTA update!
MobiTV + Root + TB= GONE!

No where in the Tmo screenshot does it say that this is a new ROM. It says in plain english "Vibrant customers will receive a notification to download T-Mobile TV, which will replace MobiTV."
Just because its coming OTA doesn't mean its a ROM.
I'm currently using T-Mobile TV on my Vibrant and it is pretty awesome. My girlfriend used it to watch an entire epsidode of Housewives while we were waiting for the bus so I guess that keeps her busy LOL. It is pretty clear and seamless over 3G and I think the quality improves over Wi-Fi.
Comes with a 30 day trial at first then $9.99/month after that. Certainly cheaper than cable service.
That's mobitv sir

LMAO, yes it does. No 1 fn told you the difference between posting a picture by uploading it to xda, and hosting it somewhere else to use an img tag. There is no url for the pic. If the picture was already on the web somewhere, I could have used an img tag. But when you add a pic to a post as an attachment, it resizes it for you.
So, I've gone and hosted it at imgur. Here's your pic.

A different kind of comparison...HTC EVO vs Chrome OS Netbook (First Entry - 2/3/11)

So yesterday i received a cr-48 from google. I about **** myself. Being one of the lucky ones i decided to start a blog that compared my evo and the netbook. What I'm looking for is ideas to do comparisons on. From simple to complex and anything in between. After a day of pretty intense use i haven't been able to find much on the basic side of things that one trumps the other on.
So shoot me ideas on what i could try to make these 2 devices do battle with. Post 2 will be reserved for things covered and things to be covered. I will try to keep up with this as much as possible and post my review and comparison at http://evovscm48.blogspot.com/
