Messages Background - Nexus S General

Is there any way to make the background black and text white in the native Messaging App?
I know that i had it that way on my G1 and my friend has an evo in which this is also possible.
It was usually in settings once you go to the app but i do not see the option there.

[Q] Stock email program and background color

Is there a way to change the stock email program (the list of message part - not the messages themselves as those are fine) from white text on a black background to either the reverse, or some other color combination? I'm finding that, depending on the lighting, it is rather difficult to easily identify read messages from unread messages. If there is no way to change the color combo, perhaps there is a better way to highlight unread messages? Thanks....

From what I can remember, you can change the white background to a yellow-ish background to make it easier to read. Not sure about white on black though.
The white to yellow background is only if you are reading a specific email. There is no way I can find to change the colors of the list of emails. You'll have to probably wait for custom ROM, unless rooting can provide a workaround. I know there are other email apps floating around for other Galaxy devices, but I haven't messed with my Fascinate yet because I'm waiting for a sure fire backup/restore method.

[Q] SMS text in notication bar

Hi guys, hope you can help!
Basically the embarrassing situation has occurred a few times now when I'm showing my friends some features of the DHD a personal text comes in which was meant for my eyes only, however the first two lines of it are displayed in the notification bar when it arrives.
Surely there's a way to stop this from happening!?
Cheers!

If you're using HTC stock messaging app then there is no way to stop it. A solution would be to use messaging apps from the market like Handcent SMS and the likes. It will give you the ability to pop the notification but does not show the content.
I've just had a friend ask me this as well. Wanting just a notification sound and icon rather than disclosing the sender or the message body on the lock screen or in the notification bar.
I've got a DHD and don't mind if people see what i'm receiving, even to the degree that i've installed an app called ChompSMS which brings up a window on the homescreen displaying the full message.
I had a fiddle with the ChompSMS settings and it seems that you can increase the privacy settings to make it anonymise the notification, however as soon as you unlock the phone it will still show the full text in a window - I only fiddled a little bit, but couldn't find a way of disabling this without losing other features.
I uninstalled ChompSMS (for the purposes of this experiment) and had a look round at the generic (HTC) messaging settings and it seems like it's all or nothing, as soon as you turn off the 'received notification' option it greys out the options below it, meaning that you get no notification whatsoever when someone messages you (except for the green circle on the messaging widget - if you have this on your homepage).
I'm going to try installing Handcent (another popular messaging app) to see if I can make it do exactly what my friend wants done. I'll message back if I manage it.
Mike.

help with text in text conversations is way too large

i hit something trying to answer a call while i was texting and the text is huge and i can't seem to find an option to reduce it anywhere. text everywhere else on the phone and apps is fine. i tried every setting i could find in the messaging app and can't find anything related to text size for this specific app. thanks for any help in advance. driving me nuts
On my Sprint version it's System Settings - Display - Font size. So it is in the system settings window not the messaging app settings, at least on mine.
Default sms app is actually zoomable. Pitch in. Text size also modifies it.

[Q] MMS Pixelated In Default Messaging App

I've noticed that in the default messaging app that pictures from MMS look pixelated until I save them and view them in the gallery app. The same applies to chomp SMS, but Hangouts seems to handle picture messages properly. Does anyone know of a way to fix this for the default messaging app? Or maybe someone knows of an SMS app that puts a notification on the lock screen where you can launch directly into that conversation without pulling down the notification shade (if that's even possible since it wouldn't be a first party app). Thanks for any suggestions you all might have.

a good way to hide text messages?

Hello all, I am coming from an iPhone and I just got an S8 with Rogers and I used to have this great tweak that was in the native messages app this is how it worked :
With a swipe/long press I would be able to hide a certain text message and mute them from notifications, if I wanted to make it visible again I'd press edit and go into the tweak settings and make the conversation visible again with the notifications
I'd like to keep using the native messages app from samsung, I got vault and it forces me to use Picoo Messenger and that thing is not something I like....
Does something like that exist in either a rooted rom or as an app??
