has anyone confirmed fastboot oem lock - Nexus S General

i know the nexus S has fastboot OEM UNlock but does anyone now if retail units can fastboot OEM LOCK im not 100% sure im keeping the phone and i dont want to unlock it and find that i cant return it if i decide i dont like it

Or perhaps maybe you just don't unlock it until you've decided to keep it?

yea could do that too, but where's the fun in that

Yes, you can do fastboot oem lock.

So to clarify, you can unlock, install superuser, and lock again?
Or can you only lock it when it's running signed software?
Just curious...

Moto X Pure pre release

I have a moto x pure pre release phone. It was a model that was issued before the initial release of moto x pure. I have tried to get the unlock code with no success. I get a failed error message. I have tried this on windows 10 and Linux. I can successfully recognize the device on fastboot and adb. However, no unlock code. I am now thinking somehow the phone is locked and unable to get this code. I'm thinking about selling this phone and getting a new one. I would like any feedback if you think I will have the same issue or if the pre release may be locked.

Was it a pre-release version? My guess is no.
Did you go into settings and flip the unlock switch? Hard to help when you don't list the steps you took to unlock.

I installed Android sdk and Motorola driver. Then enabled USB debugging and checked OEM unlock. Then booted into bootloader. Then typed fastboot OEM get_unlock_data. Then it fails to get information.

It is special phone specifically designed to show off the phone before launch.

Eng boot loader by chance ? Did you try fast oem unlock?

I was simply answering his doubt about purchasing a new one and facing the issue of unlocking the bootloader again.
He won't have this issue anymore with a unit purchased from Motorola.

Did you go to moto and request unlock?
The code you need you can get it on the Motorola support site (I believe this).

I need the code from my phone to do this. That is where my trouble is. Everytime I enter fastboot oem get_unlock_data it gives me this.
C:\SDK\platform-tools>fastboot oem get_unlock_data
...

They won't help with unlocking my bootloader. They just refer to a website on how to do it. I have told them I believe something is wrong with the phone but they don't want to help with this. I think I am going to just give up and sell the phone and cut my losses.
So why dont you actually follow the process for Bootloader unlock on Moto's Site?

Did you try flashing the stock factory images in fastboot, then rebooting and trying the process once more? You could have an odd boot loader version or something.

Is it possible to lock the bootloader after its been unlocked?

Ive unlocked my bootloader on my ZE520KL, and I was wondering if you can lock the bootloader back?
Actually it seems that it is not possible to relock
On other phones the command is "fastboot oem lock" but I'm not sure if it works with ASUS devices. It's worth a shot, although note that even if it does work your warranty will still be voided.

Oh ok, thanks for letting me know

Any chance of a recover program yet?

I'm on QAA and just rooted it. I'm guessing that the boot loader is still locked and nothing works. I've heard people say that the OEM unlock would unlock the boot loader but I don't believe that is the case.
Anybody??

Recover program? This phones bootloader is unfortunately still locked and will probably never get unlocked. Only root is achievable right now...
That's what I thought. I had read a thread here somewhere that they thought the OEM unlock unlocked the bootloader.

where?found it and share to us。
I called Sprint tech and they told me it was for security to keep someone else from returning your phone to stock settings. When I went to the boot loader the highlighted area seemed to bounce around between the options. Here's the link to the conversation.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/help/oem-unlock-developer-options-t3328414

Enable OEM Unlocking/Debloat Script for Tmobile/Sprint

all you have to do is extract the zip file, make sure your phone has adb debugging enabled, plug it into the computer, and run the script and it will debloat your phone and enable you to slide the oem unlocking toggle in developer options that was previously greyed out
********WARNING*********
this script will remove the keyboard app from your phone leaving you without a way to type, i dont know which exact package it is but you can always look them up and just remove that line from the script. otherwise make sure you have a usb-otg cable and keyboard to use or a program like Vysor/scrcpy or you wont be able to type. just reinstall gboard or whatever other keyboard you use and it will be fine

Just getting the unlock token from Oneplus. Successfully flash and unlocked bootloader. Is it have any way to unlock network?
Update:
Have been flash global rom 10.5.7 and the update to beta global rom, network still locked.
Fastboot erase modemst1 and modemst2 also can't unlock network.
Hey does this mean what I think it means. Can you unlock a bootloader and convert to global if your phone is network locked? Can someone explain how I can unlock bootloader after enabling oem unlocking?
Yes, can covert to Global but sim remain locked.
Follow this link to covert.
Thank you. I went ahead to start the process and the oem unlock switch worked after some trouble having my pc recognize my phone in fastboot. Submitted it through oneplus and waiting on an unlock token. OP has my thanks for creating this script. Been waiting for this since I got the device. Surprised there isn't more interaction on this thread.

I don't know why this script doesn't work on my device and can't unlock my device OEM. Do you need to pay attention to when using this script? Does the device need to disconnect the network?

As I done before if you have wipe all data and start your phone without sign in google account it wont work. You need to sign in a google account then run the script.

Anyone know what actually locks the sim slot? And how can it persist even on Global rom? On Tmo devices there is a "Device Unlock" app that gets deleted after you sim unlock the phone by carrier.
But global rom doesn't have the proprietary unlock app, so what is actually keeping it locked? Does the modem have the locking instructions in it?
Yes, something like that which is impossible to remove.

The previous OP devices it was possible after flashing Int. rom.
Question is where/how did they place the restrictions now. It had something to do with the modem after the t-mo app unlocks the phone.
But I don't think backing up and restoring a modem from an unlocked OP8 and flash it to locked OP8 will work as intended anymore.
I guess no one cared enough to reverse engineer this again

I can't wait to get my hands on the device.
Think you can unlock the bootloader with fastboot/adb (same as with Nexus/Pixel/Oneplus-devices) no?
Hey!
After enabling OEM Unlock in the developer options, the commands to unlock it are:
fastboot flashing unlock
fastboot flashing unlock_critical
Hope this helps.
What about relocking?

same commands, just change "unlock" with "lock" ^^.
I like old OnePlus brand/Carl Pei for that, Root Friendly
No Knox, No 169 hours Waiting Period or Forbidden Unloack Bootloader.
It's premature to say whether this will be possible or not, as the Phone(1) was released only 5 days ago.
But knowing Carl, I think that everything will be allowed on this smartphone so that it can be used by many people.
It will be a while before we have a custom recovery and therefore can develop around the Phone(1).
But the kernel is already available for developers which is a good sign.

Is it able to retain L1 status after unlock?
After unlocking (without root, unmodified partitions):
I still have L1 wildvine ("DRM Info").
Safetynet CTS profile match fails.
I'm missing play protect certification.
I can still apply OTAs. (just did 1.1.0 -> 1.1.2)

You need to install Magisk (and also root your device) in order to install Universal safetynet fix module and ofc actually pass safetynet. Worked fine on my device.

If you have read my tuto with all the process and explanations , you would have seen this point that concerns your question:
12-Once you’re on the bootloader menu, you’ll now have to switch to using fastboot command to communicate with your device. To unlock the Nothing Phone 1’s bootloader, enter the following command: fastboot flashing unlock
In case you need to flash low-level firmware partitions like the bootloader images, you will have to execute another command afterwards: fastboot flashing unlock_critical
