The file ‘HARET’ cannot be opened. Either is it not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.
I have been happily using Android for the past several months. I have had no problems with it up until today where I can no longer load it.
I get the message above when clicking both HARET or CLRCAD and also as soon as I restart my phone, replacing HARET with 'boot' which I think is my Android loader.
I have searched and there have been very few cases of this and of those related to Android, the all happen the first time someone is installing Android.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Yep I get them too, But since I dont use WinMo currently, I just say erase and reset WinMo and then after its done bringing the phone back to factory default, I re-run clrcad and haret and no problems, I think its a security permission issue, so this time when it happened, I went in with a reg editor (CeRegEditor) and unlocked the registry, and then navigated to :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies]
"0000101a"=dword:00000001
"0000101C"=dword:00000001
Make sure they look like that, save the registry and restart the phone. I think the "101a" setting being "0" is whats preventing the unsigned files to load. But cant hurt to try, since doing this I havent had to restart my phone to see if it works.
Are you saying that a hard reset is the only way to go?
Its the only one I found that allows you to get back into Android. If you have anything in WinMo back it up. Now there is one other possibility, its a Long shot but it might work. (Hence the KeyWord: "MIGHT").
Download yozgatg's Gen.Y Dualboot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=299122&d=1269552359
See if you can install that (in windows obviously)on to Device no SDCard, if you can then download this file as well: HeadHunter2009 Mod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=464093&d=1292335730
HD2 ONLY:
First install MortScript
2. Install Gen.Y DualBOOT
3. Rename Haret.exe in your Android folder on StorageCard to Haret2.exe Important
4. Copy Haret.exe from my attachement to Android folder on StorageCard
5. Copy run.mscr and run.exe to Windows folder replacing axisting one
6. And then import Gen.Y.reg.reg file to the registry.
Need Mortscript.
Now, if that doesnt work, I have one FINAL try then im out of guess:
Extract the file run.mscr from the second link. Navigate to windows and paste that file, then go to startup folder, remove any shortcut links in there and add a shortcut to that file into this folder. (Again, this idea is heavily dependent that you can get Mortscript installed) reboot the phone, at initial startup, it should hit that shortcut and boot into Android without any intervention from you. (If this does work, and you want to go into Windows, remove SD Card to prevent booting to Android)
And one final thought, use CeRegEditor, and back up the Reg Location I stated, then after saved to your hard drive load it into the editor, or open it with notepad, edit the lines I said, save it and then import it back to the phone.
Short of these ideas, I dont have any more to offer. Good luck.
Thanks alot for that. I will have a go this weekend and report back on here.

WHY did you unpack it ? You must only...
(... go to the Search in xda-dev's and if don't find anything, ask for, and you'll be told that cab's are installed...)
...copying the CAB into the device (better into the SD card) and execute it using the File Explorer.
****** IMPORTANT ******
Please, before installing any CAB, get sure it's safe. Maybe you'll need to install first a "SafeMode" starter in your device, so that you'll able to boot it when you destroy almost everything by using an unsafe CAB or EXE.
**********************
Before continuing (I see you posted only 3 times and your question is a basic one), please read the conditions and the suggestions for newbies. It's the safest way to preserve your device from bricking it (that's called, "you'll be only able to use it as a wall brick but not to phoning or computing")
when i download the cab into jzip it unpack it by itself
Well... that's easy.
Just download it like a usual file. Right-click on the link and choose "save as", so that Jzip will not open it by itself. Save it into a folder, i.e. "My downloaded CABs"
Try to install a "safemode" manager for your device. Thus, you'll be able to boot it when your installation will be the wrong way. A good ROM (maybe the original for your device if you didn't play with it) is also necessary near to you for the same reasons.
Also, try to download and launch a CAB analizer like MSCEInf.exe and you'll be able to understand what is into your CAB, TSK and some other files you feed into your device. The most of the problems when installing something come because you're using the wrong version, or because the installation asks for a startup process or a change in the registry, and looking into the CAB will allow you to modify the installation.
Then, you may use Activesync or similar to put the CAB into the device (better into the SD card if you have small space to put files, as happens with the Herald). You may also switch off the phone (this is OFF, not hybernated!!) and take the microSD card and put the files inside via USB reader.
Launch the File Explorer (better if you use other managers, I like TotalCommander) and tap on the CAB file. Remember if you didn't modify the settings, the CAB will be erased once it will be installed.
If you have not many space in your "programs RAM" you can move the files from \windows\appmgr to a similar folder into your SD card. Do not delete them, as you'll need those files/folders when you'll uninstall some app.
*****WARNING***** If this is your first experience with Windows Mobile, take a surf into this web and read, read, read, print hardcopies of everything you'll consider interesting, and only after this you'll be able to work with your device with no danger to damage it forever. (you'll only damage it for some hours, till you'll have hard-reseted it).
thank u so much
Hi
This is work but afther soft reset system replace it:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
"HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended"=dword:00000001
Any ideas how to fix it, beouse MSN and other programs start to use 3G when phone is standby.
my device keeps WiFi on even in standby out of the box. it will only shut WiFi off when I manually turn it off. it came like this out of the box.
Exactly the same for me, anyone?
I have a T-Mobile HD2 and as default wifi isn't active during standby. The registry key works but a soft reset will revert it to '0', so I wrote the following simple Mortscript and placed a shortcut to it in the /Windows/Startup folder (place the file on your device and using the file explorer copy and 'paste shortcut' into the startup folder). It works well.
You will of course need to install Mortscript for this to work.
yippee wifi stays connected
my htc hd2 outta the box stayed connected to wifi until i told it to disconnect, after installing a few programs and tweaking the reg etc and after a hard reset i noticed this wouldnt stay connected, annoying!
thanks for this little tweak you have, it works great and the only thing have found to work properly.
regards
No problem, I use it constantly and will until a ROM incorporates a fix.

Thanks, I will give this a go.
Working nicely. Many thanks. Much better than the other Mortscript solution "Don'tSleep" which still drains battery because screen is on while connected.
No problem. I didn't come across the other mortscript fix and the wifi switching off was doing my head in. Glad there's a simple registry key.
Thank yo for this script profahmad.
Wich folder you mean exactly? I dont found on my System Startup (it is a german device).
Mean you AutoStart?
Best regards Theo
Copy the file to any location on your phone or storage card, then using the file explorer highlight it and select 'copy', then navigate to /Windows/Startup and paste shortcut (not simply 'paste').
Am I missing the point: is the /Windows/Startup folder not showing on your device?
Thanks for creating and sharing this script. It works great if I simply run it after startup, but for some reason it is not executing automatically on startup. I followed your instructions and have a shortcut to the script (which I stuck in My Documents) in /Windows/Startup. I installed MortScript to my device as well. I have an ATT Tilt 2. Is there something more I need to do, perhaps with MortScript, to get the script to run at startup?

Yeah, I only have the Startup folder - no Autostart.

Disregard - appears to be user error. Works great
Can I just make sure I've got this right? You install the MortScript cab file, which then appears in the Start menu, yes? Then, is it the little Wifi zip file you have to create a shortcut to, and do you have to unzip it first?

Yeah, install Mortscript for the functionality but you won't need to do anything with it after that. Unzip the wifi script anywhere on the device and place the shortcut in the startup folder.
That's what I did and kept getting an error message on boot up, something like, "The file 'Mortscript' cannot be opened. Either the app is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one or more components cannot be found."
Hmm. Install BSB Tweaks and enable Allow unsigned applications.
That worked, thanks. Now I have to see if it kills my battery.
Sorry for new thread, tried searching for things like a Beginner's Guide but no luck...
The HD2 is my first foray into WM phones and I just need a bit of help understanding how to install all the programs and tweaks you clever folks on here cook up. For starters I want to disable the clock flip animation when you switch to the Home screen:
1. You can disable this extra animation so it only flips when it needs to flips. Download the modified manila file at the end of this post.
Done
2. Disable HTC Sense in Today settings.
Done
3. Backup original Windows file (you are going to overwrite) to your SD card.
OK, this is where I fall down
4. Extract downloaded file to Windows directory on your device (overwriting the original).
Not sure here either, but I think this will be obvious once I connect to my PC...?
5. Enable HTC Sense again in today settings.
I'll be OK here
Also, in the Hints & Tips thread, it talks about installing a program to edit the registry for a lot of the tweaks. Would something like Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm) be OK for that?
search for cab file, on leo themes and app, 1sr row, the one with touch x . copy it to your phone/storage card , launch it and softreset. no need for backup
Download the cab-file called "Touch_X_Homescreen_Flip_clock_OFF.cab" from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415
Notice that this is a cab-file and not a rar/zip(/whatever)-file.
Cab-files are so to say "setup-files" for windows mobile.
That said, after you've downloaded the file to your computer, simply copy/move it to your mobile. Now from your mobile, run this file, and it will install as a program.
This means that you can uninstall it by going to settings->programs....
My first tip would be too make sure you install/store everything on the storage card and not the device. this is one mistake I made and you'll run out of space quickly.
Secondly, decide now if you're going to install the lastest ROM. best to do it now before you get into setting up and tweaking otherwise you'll be in my situation again where you'll have to clear everything and start from scratch.
And yes, it's easiest to download CABs to your PC, transfer them over USB to the storage card, then install from there.
Hi guys,
Recently i have noticed tha my t9 words are not working
I found this on xda
Directory("\Windows"):-Directory("ET9IMEDB")
Directory("\Windows\ET9IMEDB"):-File("eT9AsDb.Adb","\Windows\eT9AsDb.Adb")
Directory("\Windows\ET9IMEDB"):-File("eT9Rudb.Rdb","\Windows\eT9Rudb.Rdb")
but when i added it to initflashfiles.txt, all the files look like on the screenshoot
when i simply change a name of \Windows\ET9IMEDB to \Windows\ET9IMEDB_t, and change it back again to ET9IMEDB, files are normal, but after soft reset its the same story
so i did a mort script
Rename ("\Windows\ET9IMEDB\", "\Windows\ET9_temp\")
Rename ("\Windows\ET9_temp\", "\Windows\ET9IMEDB\")
and added it to StartUP folder, it works, but i want to know what is causing it
thanks for help in advance
Billy
ps. I am using leo3.02 IME packages on Topaz Rom
Wow, I'm glad I clicked this. I've run into the same crap many times. My temp fix is the same as yours. I don't use et9, but this has happened to me w/ several apps that I've relocated to windows, like ucweb. My only fix is to get corruptable files/folders oit of windows.
yeah, but you can't get this folder out of windows, cause it must be located there
Have you looked in the .reg file in the package? There may be a key in there that sets the path.
The files would get corrupted every time I would soft reset.
I'll add that for me, I've run into several apps that would give me corrupted files. Usually, it was apps that I'd relocated from \program files into \windows (to save storage space). For instance, Bing would do this to me. The rom files were fine, but the sub-folders would become corrupted after every soft reset if they were in the \windows folder. In particular, the XAML folder would go wonky. The fix was to rename it, then name it back. I'm sure you figured this out the same way I did: you couldn't delete the corrupted files/folders, or copy them, or anything, unless you first renamed them (lucky that worked). When I'd rename the folders, I'd notice that the files inside were no longer wonky. I made an EXT for FpseCE that was relocated to \windows, and all six sub-folders would become corrupted after a soft reset. It was a royal pain to rename them, so that was basically when I decided it wasn't worth the saved storage space to have the apps located in rom, so I moved FpseCE, Bing, and UCWEB (the CDDATA folder would go bad) to program files. The other app that would mess up on me was Weather2go (a today plugin). The Weather.dat file (located in \windows) would go bad for maybe the first 4 or 5 soft resets after a flash, but then it would mysteriously become stable. It was annoying as crap, because the plugin would go blank and not show the weather forecast after a reset. I don't know why, but now it works fine. Perhaps it's because I took the other 3 apps or so out of \windows. The really weird file that would screw up on me was an ID txt file for SK Today Commander. SK software puts an ID text file in windows for all it's paid-for apps. I have maybe 5 of their apps, and the files were fine for all of them except today commander. It would become corrupted at each reset. Now, it doesn't happen any more to me.
I wish I knew why it happens, but I don't. Now, if I'm making a package for a new app, I will test it before flashing, and do several soft resets to make sure that none of the files that might be created by the app are not corrupted after a soft reset. It's been a couple of months since I had the problem.
I looked at the xt9 package I have, and it looks like you can relocate the entire thing to another directory. It will be a pain in the butt, but if you really need it it might be worth a try. There's an installdir key that needs to be changed (from \windows), plus many keys for the path to all the dll's. I don't see a path for the databases, but they will probably move to the new location (assuming you change all the paths).
now i had finished all correctiong all errors for my rom (new packages from Oobe and Huashan) and new manila, i was using topaz ext before, but is it time to change it for a fresh apps
so i will have time to find solution for this, it may be to many files in rom, first i will try to remove some apps, my nhb file has 230mb, so it could cause problems in filesystem, we will see
I doubt it's that, but you never know. My rom is pretty light (only ~2500 files). I tried Task 29, and that didn't do jack squat. Moving things out of \windows was the only thing that worked. I guess maybe moving to osbuilder could help; maybe the module allocation in EVK is causing issues. I've never had S.O.D. before, but I have had this plenty. It's pretty clear that something hinky is going on during boot-up, though.
well i am using osKitchen v1.31beta10, so it's not EVK problem
OsKitchen and EVK are pretty much the same, though, aren't they? They both run platformrebuilder; I'm not sure if they handle modules the same way, but I suspect that they do. Osbuilder is supposed to do a better job of it, but the thought of converting all my packages over makes me want to hurl.
I figured out what is going on with this (sort of). I don't know why you get the corrupted files/directories in \windows, but I know how to avoid it. Files/folders become corrupted after a soft reset when their names are all capital letters. For instance, if I have a folder named \CDDATA in \Windows (or \XAML or \BIOS-those are from Bing or fpsece), then any file inside that folder will become corrupted after a soft reset (except for .lnk files, go figure). So, the key is to just rename the folder with lower case letters. In the case of UCWEB, which used the CDDATA folder, it works just as well with a folder named cddata, except that I can soft reset the device w/o issues. I'm assuming that Bing would work with an \xaml folder, and fpsece would work with all 6 of its sub-folders being named in lower case.
The same thing happens with files: if their name is all capital letters (inc. the extension), then they become corrupted after a soft reset. Renaming them fixes it (same with the folders). Anyway, this is why the OP's files go wonky in the \ET9IMEDB folder.
Like I said, I don't know why it happens. I get it with EVK roms and OSBuilder roms.
Farmer Ted good find, thanks
There isn't really a General section for Windows Mobile, so I'm placing this thread here. If it needs to be moved, I'm sure a mod will handle it.
Like many of you, I recently received the e-mail about the Windows Mobile Market shutting down. I'm glad I never actually used the market, but some of you may not be so lucky.
For anyone who didn't already know this, Here's how you back up your downloaded apps to make into cabs:
You're going to need Total Commander for this since it's easy to work with.
1. Uninstall your Marketplace downloaded apps.
2. Open Total Commander and navigate to \Application Data\Volatile\
3. Open the Market, and go to the first app you want.
*****BE VERY QUICK ABOUT THIS NEXT PART*****
The amount of time you have is dependent on the size of the application.
4. Hit the install button, then quickly switch back to Total Commander.
5. There should now be a file in there called "setup.xml" (it might be setup.txt - I can't remember). Copy that file to your SD card. Just put it anywhere you'll remember. This file disappears from the "\Volatile\" directory as soon as the installation is complete.
6. This file contains all the setup info for the application. It will tell you all the files installed, and where each registry value is placed.
7. Find the files, and make yourself a cab.
I wrote this out from memory. Hopefully it's all correct. Sorry if I'm off by a bit. Thankfully, I saw the death of WM coming ahead of time and never bothered to purchase anything from there.
I realize that not everyone knows how to make a cab. Fortunately, I still have my legit copy of WinCE Cab Manager. I stress legit, since it was widely pirated.
If you need help creating a cab of a program you bought from the WM Market, please provide the files in a zip file, and I'll construct one for you. You must include the setup.xml file in addition to all the files that get installed during the process of installing from the market.
Before anyone asks, the answer is no, I will not provide a copy of my licensed version of WinCE CM. Buy it yourself, or use another program.
There's also a bit less difficult way to get your files backed up.
1: get the DarkCabCatcher FIXED version from http://blog.idlezone.org/post/2010/01/11/Windows-Mobile-MarketPlace-:-choose-where-to-install
(I didn't make the app, just found it and used the following steps.
2: config it like the post says.
3: open up total commander or file explorer
4: load up some task manager that you can open with a hardware button or screen hotzone. (I use arkswitch)
5: wait for the installation window to appear that you normally get when you're installing a .cab file
6: switch to your file manager, and rename the .cab file that's there, possibly even copy it to a new folder.
7: cancel the install
8: verify that your backed up .cab file is still there
9: enjoy.
I know it's a bit longer, but you don't need to use any software but a .cab file copier.

Have you tried this out before? It looks like a perfect solution, but it is very old. This was made before the Market allowed installations to the SD card. This was prior to 2010, I believe. If it still works, then this is excellent!

Works perfectly. The reason you need to rename the .cab file is because the program is designed to delete the copied one and searches for any files of the same name. If you rename it, it can't find it.
I used this method last week to get it to backup. It worked nicely.

That's good news. I'll flash one of my spare devices and make a quick tutorial on this with pictures tomorrow or Wednesday. Thanks for the information.
I'd love to do this with my paid apps so if I flash or hard reset my phone I can restore them. The only problem is, I'm just kind of lazy
