[Q] HTC Touch HD battery problem. - Touch HD General

I had given my Touch HD for replacing the digitizer. After it came back from the customer care center, I faced a problem with the battery. As soon as i plugged it in for charging, I noticed the orange light- that usually shows the charging mode. But after 6-7 seconds, the light goes off and the battery never gets charged. Even after I charged the phone for 4-5 hours, when i try to switch it on.. it says low battery and switches off. I visited the customercare again with the same problem. The person there said the battery was to be blamed and he ordered a new battery for the same. That poor battery never arrived, even after a good 20 days waiting. That is when i ordered it from UK. Now, I recieved the battery a week back and the same problem persists. I am sick of this cell now. I would be grateful to anyone who has a solution for this.

Hi
Problem of the circuit device to be charged

If I were you, I'd buy a universal lithium charger. You can get one on eBay for as low as 2.80 USD. I would recommend an online company called bestofferbuy.com because it has several for under 2.60. My personal favorite one there is one shaped a penguin that can recharge either via USB or AC. It is available at:
http://www.bestofferbuy.com/universal-cell-phone-lithium-battery-charger-with-usb-power-port-ac-110v240v-p-26225.html
The charging USB dongle on my phone broke and when I asked a friend about his recommendation, he asked if I had searched for a universal lithium charger. I went to froogle.com, performed the search and found bestofferbuy.com. Basically, if you look at any universal lithium charger, it will have two posts that you "line up" with terminals on your battery. When the lithium charger senses a correct alignment, a light will come on. When charging, those lights will flash until the battery is fully charged. Then the lights will come on steady. I have bought two chargers from there as I like to keep one in my overnight bag.
If you do a search on eBay, I'd recommend you use "lithium charger" as it will show the lowest priced models. Then, look the sellers that offer a USB and a/c models. You should not pay over 2.80 USD (shipping included).

XDA 2 mini battery issue

i have this phone for 1 year now and in one week it managed to screw up two batteries. Is there any way to fix a pm16a battery cause i'm not buying another one. now i have 4 batteries with similar simptoms: they don't charge anymore. two of them show the red light, one actually shows orange light but doesn't charge and one shows a flickering red light. I'm aware that these batteries actually need their own current to charge (which is quite dumb).
If it helps somehow the 3rd battery was charged to 98% when it suddenly dropped to 0 and phone turned off. I left the last one to discharge to 2% but then the phone turned off and now shows red light when charging.
Any help or advice that doesn't involve buying a new battery or trashing my phone would be very much appreciated
ok i managed to reactivate the batteries so for those of you who are getting this problem just check if your charger (original or not) outputs the required voltage. It won't reactivate the batteries if it isn't strong enough. In my case my brother's charger did the trick so i'll have to get a new one. Remember that red light indicates that the battery is not charging either because of a hardware malfunction or the current it gets is not strong enough.

Awesome, thanks Bluther. How well does the black finish on the new back piece match the phone?

The poster that commented on the slant must have seen the same pictures I posted about on another forum. Fortunately, I was corrected by someone who had bought the Mugen 3600.
Across the forums, those who've tried both pretty much all prefer the power & size of the Seidio & the look of the Seidio cover. Plus it's cheaper.
I got my Seidio 3500 Thursday night. The instructions say to do an 8 hour initial charge before putting the battery in the phone & that performance would increase after 5-6 full charges. I did the initial charge Thursday night, put the battery in the phone about 7:30 Friday morning, was down to 32% about 4pm Saturday. I put the battery on the charger Saturday night, put it back in the phone 6am Sunday morning, am at 38% as I write -- slight improvement. It looks like a fully conditioned Seidio 3500 ought to easily go two full days...maybe longer.
I'm using the unlocked UMTS version on AT&T.
I have this battery, bought it on day one because I use a lot of data with my phone and normally, even in Edge, a 8 hour battery is CRITICAL. I can't say what the original battery can do, but this battery is AWESOME!!!! I'm getting greater than 5 days of battery on this huge guy! Even when I'm in range of the 3G/HSDPA area, I'm getting at least 2 days.
I use GoodLink with my corporate email and it keeps the data connection HOT 24x7. Usually drains a battery VERY quickly.
Another pro is that the Seidio cover is non-skid black rubber coated plastic. While not matching the "pretty" glossy finish, I like it better because the phone doesn't slide around on surfaces.
I have one issue and I'm not sure if anyone else has this battery and have experienced this issue. But I can't charge this phone/battery with any USB cable I've tried through my USB ports. I've tried 3 different cables, including the included Palm cable, powered hubs and monitors with powered hubs.
I can't figure out what's going on here... Any help here???

I can leave mine in the phone & charge it using my Palm cable or the retractable Seidio cable. I also have a Mobi Products cradle -- phone with normal sized battery in the front slot, the Seidio 3500 in the spare battery slot, both fully charged when I get up in the morning. Sounds like you might have an issue either with the phone itself or your USB ports. Are the ports fully powered USB 2.0 compatible?

You must have the windows mobile device center/activesync installed on your pc in order for the device to receive power.
I found it for less $$$

In the Treo Pro manual you will read that the phone takes much longer to charge on a USB connection. In other words it is suggested to use the AC adapter and the usb cable to get a powerful and fast charge. That being said maybe the battery needs and AC charge and USB wont suffice.
I have read so many reviews and your problem is a one of a kinder.
About getting this battery cheaper.
Go seidioonline.com and enter coupon code: ITB0630 for 10% off an order over $50.
They sell battery $65 ($5 cheaper than most) plus you get 10% off.
My total purchase was $64.35 shipped.
YAY!
Go get em.

I don't have a Treo (yet) but I've had the same on other devices.
The thing about a USB cable is that if no driver exists to tell the device what it's connected to, it doesn't know whether it's USB2 or USB1, so can't assume there's much power to use. (though I would have thought USB1 still presents a useful amount).
Some devices charge slowly on plain USB without software, some don't charge at all. Of those that do trickle charge, the rate can be less than the power consumed by keeping the backlight on and/or running the GPS, so all that happens is the device stays awake and runs flat quicker.
Sometimes there's a pin in the connector to indicate "this is a charger that supplies what's needed", and you can get an adaptor cable to use with generic USB cables or chargers.
Was thinking of ordering one on eBay found HERE.
Would be around €40 + €17 = €57. But this would mean it has to be shipped from the States to the Netherlands. Why isn't their any battery available a bit closer to home
At this time I get just two days if I'm lucky. Doesn't seem that to many use the 3500 mah from Seidio though. No more users tried this baby?

battery onky charging to 99%?

I am having an issue where my phone is showing a charge only up 99%, and then it stays there until I take it off the dock. I've tried a few different Rome, and 2 batteries. Any thoughts?
I bought a Brand New Nexus One. Charged it for 24 hours & still only had 20% charge. Also the Orange indicator did not change to Green.
I think you might have a similar Hardware/Software fault & might need to return your phone for repair.
I know it not as drastically bad as my phone, but still.
Get what you paid for.
Thanks

Can a non oem car charger kill battery?

i bought this car charger from ebay from my vibrant for 10 bux. when i went to canada this was like 3 weeks ago and since i got back my battery life was never the same it dies pretty quick. what can cause this
I would avoid the cheap generic chargers. Go with the T-Mobile or Samsung OE car chargers. Purchase a new battery if you think it's the source, they're pretty cheap on eBay.
I don't think the charger did that. I have made some Frankenstein chargers that have never affected the battery. I would guess the charge controller in the phone crapped out, but not because of the non OEM charger.
The thing you plug into the wall or cigarette lighter doesn't know or care about what phone or battery you have. it just gives the power. it doesn't tell the phone to give you the "UNPLUG YOUR PHONE" message, the controller in the phone does that.
Go to powerstream.com for info on cells, batteries, and charging.
Think about this...if you have your phone plugged into your car BEFORE you start it, what happens? The charger goes dead, then comes back. That is way more stressful on ANY charger.

Off-topic, but it is bad on the battery to leave the phone plugged in all night, with the phone asleep but not off (i.e., the phone remains plugged in long after it finished recharging)? I do this, as I suspect many others do... I was under the impression that the phone cuts the cycle so there's no "overcharge" issue. Thanks.
chargers shouldn'ty hurt your battery. I've NEVER owned a OEM car charger in my life, and you know now that i think about it I think the crappy $12.00 charger in my car is the same one I bought for my Razor back in 2005, I've used it for my Jasjar, N95, my Gf's chocolate, her Blackberry and now my Vibrant no issues.
as for overcharging, phones like most electronics, should have a built in switch that switches to trickle charge after completion. also batteries no longer use memory Cell technology so again no issues there. I only charge my phones at night and I leave them all night no issues. no dead batteries, no exploding phones, no overheating etc.

[N910F] Note 4 new battery keeps on restarting, does not turn on

Hello all,
As my trusty Note 4 which I've had for over a year gave signs of low battery life (lasting only 3-5 hours on a full charge), I decided to pick up a new replacement battery.
I purchased it from a renowned retailer, it is an original battery with the plastic packing and everything. Made in Korea, Assembled in Vietnam.
The problem is, I inserted the battery and the phone won't turn on. I put the charger in as I though it was discharged. While on charge it turns on perfectly and I can use it. As soon as I remove the charging cable it shuts down after 1 sec. After that when I try to turn it on it keeps restarting, won't get past the Note 4 logo.
My phone is rooted, with TRWP recovery and Emotroid 6.0.1 ROM on it.
Could this be a software issue? I can power it up just fine in download mode, but recovery does the same as normal boot up.
Thank you
sounds like a bad battery, even trusted sellers send out bad batteries sometimes.
I second the vote for bad battery. I had the same situation with a replacement battery. If the phone is turned off and connected to the charger, the charging image pops up briefly, closes down and then pops up again repeatedly. All my other batteries charge normally in the phone. There are too many bogus parts on the internet. Other than buying directly from the manufacturer I don't know of any way to be sure what I am buying is genuine.
Yep....deffo a battery issue. I got a new battery for my wife's N4 direct from Anker. The same as I have done for every phone I've ever needed a new battery for. NEVER had any problems with Anker batteries....
https://www.anker.com/products/A6035021
This link takes you to the Anker website, but to buy the battery, the website will redirect you to the Anker store on Amazon.
Stay WELL away from eBay, even if the seller states 'genuine' you can pretty much guarantee that the offered battery has never seen the inside of a Samsung battery factory.
