The Real Info About Your Battery - Vibrant General

Found a very informative article on androidpolice. The author goes into great detail about smartphone batteries, his findings, and some great recommendations for how to charge your battery. Check it out. http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/12/14/your-battery-gauge-is-lying-to-you-everything-you-need-to-know-about-bump-charging-and-inconsistent-battery-drain/

I read the whole thing, and this is what i got as a conclusion, quoted from article.
If you absolutely need the highest capacity on a device like this, you will need to bump charge. There are currently people experimenting with "fixes" for this, but I have yet to see one that works. Be warned, however, that repeated bump charging will wear your battery faster and begin to reduce its capacity.

He tells us to bump charge if we need to get higher battery, but says that it can hurt our battery life.

Basically to me it gave proof to my assumption that we're not gonna get much more from these batteries. I posted it because there's question after question asking about the battery life. This should give some insight to some. With 1ghz cpus and hardware that rivals a low end netbook with a battery that's tiny compared to one, we should be happy to be getting a full days use out of them. That's just my opinion tho.

Hey, more people complaining = pushes the companies to try new ideas.
It's the way the world works.
1 company makes a great battery, another one makes a bit better then the other makes it better and so on...
As Consumers, we shall always want more
As Humans, we shall always want more.

It debunks the odd advice given here to always let your phone drain out before charging it.
Im one of those people who keeps my phone on a charger whenever I can.
Also debunks the supposed need to calibrate batteries in phones.

totally, deep cycling is bad for Li-Ion batteries. The calibration on the other hand I don't know. The article did talk about about having the battery meter catch up to reality. Maybe reconditioning the battery helps the meter do that faster? I doubt it, but you never know I guess.

a Conculsion in a instructional article is where you tell people to do "THIS" whereas that author isn't doing anything but saying do this and then goes on telling us the bad things about doing that.
WTF is the point of telling us a good thing, only to know that it leads up to screwing up your battery?

Most people want to complain about the phone... But, what i have found 98% of the time it is the guy you are looking at in the mirror that is the problem.
I wish him well on his quest to find a better phone
i'm thinking about selling my vibrant off too. experienced way too many problems pre-update. now after the update, im getting massive battery drain and gps isn't even working. also, the phone's acting weird and the computer isn't able to connect/recognize the phone anymore. i'm all stock too. such a headache for me, it's just not worth it anymore.
I'm not about to win a Nobel prize or anything but I can think of many MANY things in my life that I have done that are WAY better than buying or selling a phone. I'm not sure buying or selling a phone would even make that list for me.
Really, if that is the best thing you ever do, well then I truly hope you take some time and reflect on maybe at least one thing you can do that could be better than that and try, try again. Don't worry, I'm sure if you keep at it you'll get it.

This too. I'm selling my Vibrant too, but its a great phone, and I just prefer the G2 by a small amount.

The cause of all your Galaxy s2 problems......

I have come to the conclusion that the reason some users are having problems with their phones is this.....
ITS YOUR OWN FAULT!
Leave the phone the way Samsung intended it and 90% of you wont have problems
Dont get me wrong i was one of these people.....Got the phone...was really happy with it and then i started to work my magic lol! New launcher here, different widget there and so on and so on.
Ended up with terrible battery life and then with a phone that got so hot it shut itself down!
Since that time i have reset the phone and kept it completly standard...what a difference...battery last 2 days again and the phone is fast and cool!
So, moral of the story...leave it alone and just enjoy the phone as it is....if you dont you only have yourself to blaim
so endith the lesson

You only have to look at the number of problems post about
Its not the phone 90% of the time but the user!
Dont get me wrong im all for changing my phone to the way i want it etc but all it ever does is bugger the thing up!
If the phone is left as it comes out of the shop then the chance of problem is far reduced.
This phone has been refined so far that in standard form there very little wrong with it. Problems arise when we start messing with it to much.

I agree and i never said it was perfect
but this phone is so much better than many and all the niggles are getting sorted the more android and samsung develops.
The point i was making is that the majority of problems on here are not because of some minor bug...more likely down to user error or the result of other apps etc that have been added.

You're making a sweeping generalisation based on absolutely zero evidence. The worst kind of troll.
Are the Orange FC problems caused by user error? No - KE2 firmware is bugged. Is the appearance and activation of Wifi sharing user error? No, its a bug. Is the unexplained battery drain and high Android OS use user error? No.
This thread contributes absolutely nothing. It only serves to aggravate those of us with issues that we're trying to resolve. Is it a great phone? Yes. But right now it had issues. You become an early adopter, you accept that. And you try to make the product better.

[Q] How to Protect Phone Battery

We all love portable devices because they provide flexibility. Ironically most of the time they are being used as desktop devices and are plugged in all the time.
This is potentially a problem because batteries wear off much more faster if they are not being used enough.
There are some hints for protecting your battery:
1- Use it only when you need to
2-Don't let it get hot!!
3-Don't store it with out some charge (I think about 75% is suggested)
share your experience here,

Yeah, the batteries only last for around 1000 full charge cycles and cost a MASSIVE $20 to replace.

Reporting properly is irrelevant, selling advertising is the only thing that matters.
They have no accountability because they hold so much power. Recently there was a huge scandal when it was discovered that journalists had been breaking the law by hacking peoples voicemail to get stories; this had some shocking consequences and our parliament commissioned an independent report, the Levison Enquiry, on how the press could be prevented from acting in this way again. Upon publication of this report, Rupert Murdoch pressured our Prime Minister in to basically ignoring ALL the recommendations in it, and the press continue to just make stuff up to sell papers or to undermine people they dislike, usually for money or commercial gain. Disgusting as it is, we the people can have no control over it because they hold all the power.
You are correct, they do have a lot of readers. They buy it because of the righteous indignation they feel when they read the printed nonsense.
What country are you from?
(sorry for the political rant on xda, have never done that before!!)
