does this forum have a mod?

Here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870833

From all the reviews and responses I've read, I was really surprised that people don't seem to care about notification LED. Coming from N1, I really can't live without notification LED (no, I don't wanna use mod to burn the OLED)
C'mon Google, almost every android phone has notification LED except for the 'S' series!! N1 even has two, and they are RGB LEDs!!!

go read what noLED does, it won't burn in because it constantly moves around. Not to mention it takes a long ass time to burn in a screen so unless you plan on leaving a notification there for a week, you'll be fine.

I like how people say "C'mon Google" like Google made the phone. Samsung made it!

I really like the LED trackball, it is useful. One big point to me.

Damn people, enough of these trackball LED threads. If you REALLY want something, search the Galaxy S forums for BLN (Backlight Notifications) which uses the capacitive buttons LEDs as notification lights... it's not the same, but at least it's SOMETHING. I'm sure the Nexus S will be modded to have it in short order.

This is what I came here to say. I am willing to bet there will be a BLN kernel for Nexus S in less than a week.

[MOD] Make the touch buttons light up for notifications?

I was thinking since this phone has no LED notification light. There should be a mod to make the touch buttons light up for notifications. i have no clue how to develop for android. But thought i should post something, because i thought it was a cool idea.
It looks like the 4 buttons are individually lit so you could if the mod is possible, make different ones light up for different notifications.
Again just throwing out the idea.

I also like this idea.
After a good couple of days with the phone I realized I was used to my purple blinking G1 notification light for IMs.
It never dawned on me that notification leds were technically absent from the handset.
This is a brilliant idea!
I hope it gets done, it would be useful.

Samsung Epic has no notification light?

I've looked all over for info regarding this, but can't find anything so far.
I saw in the Samsung Captivate forum that there are devs working on a screen LED since the captivate has no LED. Does that mean that all of the samsung galaxy phones have no notification lights?
The main thing ima miss about my Nexus One is the colored trackball. I assumed there would be at least a upper notification led like tha majority of phones out today.
The Epic does have a notification light. First 2 pictures: Top right of phone, in between the Sprint logo and the front-facing camera.

Oh wow! I hadn't seen those pictures. Indeed there is a notification light!
I'm wondering why the Captivate or Vibrant don't have the notification light? It seems like they really did make the Epic better than the other 3 galaxy phones!
well it is a Galaxy S Pro
These two videos further confirm there's at least two colors (blue and pink):

I've seen both of those videos but never paid attention to if there was a notification light or not!
We need more video of this amazing phone!
Fantastic, this allays one of my biggest concerns. Now if they release a car dock that works with Car Home, I'd have positively no hesitation in buying this phone.
Make your own car dock... for much cheaper. It won't auto launch the car home dock, but I made one for my Hero following a forum member's guide and it came out perfect. Cost ~$10... just use a different person for the garmin dock, i waited 2 months without receiving anything from ebay seller he recommended.
I have a car dock for my G1, but launching Car Home, automatically turning on bluetooth, etc. is sort of the point
Anyone have any ideas as to how configurable the notification lights/colors are? It'd be cool if I could have blue for work email, pink for texts, and maybe flashing blue for personal email. (or something like that)

No one has reported on it yet and the phone isn't out yet. Right now we have seen Pink/Red and Blue I believe in videos and White as well. It is purely speculation, but the phone probably has RGB LED's in there so in theory can display any color of the rainbow. The same way the Nexus and G1 display different colors for different notifications I imagine this phone will as well. Once again purely speculation.
What I'd like to know is can we control notification light colors and customize them so much that even who you get a txt from gets its own color. Now that'd be cool.

That's sort of what I'm thinking, except if not many colors, many options for blinking (incl. blink rate) or alternating colors. I sure hope the settings for these lights are powerful out of the box.
We need a proper geek to get his/her hands on this thing!

Not sure I can live without trackball alert

Gonna have to replace my beloved N1 eventually
Do any of the newer android phones have anything remotely similar?
Thanks
Well newest speculations are claiming there will be a notification LED in the nexus... so wait and see?
I think I'll miss the trackball too. Most new phones don't even have the optical track pad.
No they don't but they do have a little LED on the front like a blackberry. It would be easy to make that multicoloured.
Supposedly, the Nexus Prime has a multi-colored notification light.
yea that trackball notification thing. setting up different colours for different app notifications..
best thing to ever be put on any phone ever. its probably the best thing about the nexus one
There is also NoLED for AMOLED phones with no notification light...

LEDs?

I'm considering a V20. One question I have: does it have an LED, and support multiple colors?
I use Lightflow for my notifications. Different color and/or flash rate for notifications.
I'm aware of but not familiar with the second screen. I've read something about the notifications having a lifetime, ie will go away possibly before read. AS well, I think it would be easier to see notification lights and not have to even be necessarily close to the screen to read anything.
At any rate...does the V20 have the LED? Anyone using Lightflow?

no LED.

You might not catch the message preview in the second screen but it's always on and showing what notifications you have
Thanks for the feedback guys.
It's a bit of a change going from a device with LED's to one without, but I ended up installing LED Blinker Pro and am using the on-screen notifications option (for devices lacking the LED light) and it works pretty good. Definitely worth the couple of bucks for the pro version.

I used to have an app like that. Forgot about it. This might be a good solution. I guess the V20 is back on my evaluation list.

Hey all!
I know this an old thread and weird bumping it! ... But can anyone please check out this video of this guy applying a screen protector ... and his LG V20 has an LED Light? maybe some different version of phone?

You can see his lot of notifications and an LED light just next to his front Camera?

Sure looks like it... But pausing the video at the right spot (2:06) with the flashing light on and then zooming in, it looks like it's just the glare from his lighting. You can also see a similar glare on the camera and on the screen. You can also draw a straight line thru all the...
Uh, that's not an LED
That's the proximity sensor
If you aim any camera at it you're bound to see it flashing
We just don't cause our eyes don't see that spectrum of light
---------- Post added at 07:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:31 AM ----------
HOWEVER
Since someone recently figured out the second screen widgets and can put anything they want up there (even on stock!) I'm sure we can expect some sort of led emulation thingy soon.
I kinda like how v20 handles notifications instead of led

Same, I just wished the notifications stayed on the screen for longer than 2 seconds. Its not enough time to read which defeats the purpose entirely.

You get a bid amoled screen with AOD that works as a improved led. Something like that. Look at other phones with the same design and You Will see

A notification LED would be nice! I hope it has one. Never had a device with AOD but I'd prefer an LED myself.
No way aod is as bright and visible as led. I'm going to use their slogan on them and not buy this device.
"Never Settle"
Well I guess you can't expect to call batman using your screen
AFAIK there were rumors that said the LED is the bottom like on the Nexus 5 back then. I can't seem to find the proximity or ambient light sensor on the images so it could be. On the other hand I would say they have removed it in favor of the smaller notch. If I need to upgrade from my OnePlus 5T I'll probably have to choose between the OnePlus 6 and 6T. So either bigger notch with LED and headphone jack or smaller notch without them. Makes me not wanna buy a new phone...
Oneplus are making it very difficult to like this new phone.
They could make small part/dot on top of the display, use few pixels to act as a LED when screen is off. It's OLED so it shouldn't be a problem.?
So does it have led notifications?

No it doesn't.
Guys does it for sure have AOD or is it lift up display ambient display like the OnePlus 6? Anyone has a link that lists or confirms AOD? I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and no one talks about AOD which is VERY important if it doesn't have a notification LED.

No LED, and no AOD. Stupid as hell. I've been so hype for this release, and now no headphone jack, no led, and no AOD to replace it? Wtf is that. Guess I'll never settle for a OP again, unfortunately.
There's got to be some way to have the thing make some sort of blinking notification in the absence of the LED.
I'm fairly primed to buy one of these (coming from a 3T, to be used on ATT in the USA). Lack of LED is a big hit though. I gloat to my iPhone friends how I know which email account just had a new message via the LED being a specific color (I use Light Flow).

I was SERIOUSLY considering switching from my 6 to the 6T, but no notification LED and no AOD is a no go for me! How are you supposed to tell you have a notification if your phone is sitting on a table?
Yep. I don't want to root this phone and if it doesn't at LEAST include Always On Display, then it's a no go.
