[Q] So you won't have a DVP Soon, Will you take another WP7 device? - Venue Pro General

I think I'll go for an Omnia 7.
Seems like the type of class the DVP should have been but without the keyboard.
Any thoughts?

The Omnia 7 is my first choice but sadly it is not available for any reasonable price in the U.S. AT&T is not an option for me so the Focus is out of the question. It looks as though I will be picking up an HD7 today. I won't be able to wait until CES for the Venue Pro as that might put me in an infinite loop of waiting on a better device to come along.

I've already paid someone actual cash to bring me the DVP to the UK so I have no choice but to wait. Otherwise I would have ordered the Omnia 7 already, it's probably the best WP7 out there today.

probably the 7 pro
i need a keyboard

CES is bringing some cool new phones!

With everything going on with DELL and our Venue Pro woes I cannot help looking at what CES is bringing to the table. Lots of new 4G devices and tablets.
Of course I haven't seen anything quite like the Venue Pro, but I am starting to think why deal with DELL and a phone from last year when new phones with faster processors and higher specs are coming soon.
Anyone thinking of returning their Venue in place of a newer device?
I returned mine. Couple of issues that we're deal breakers for me caused me to return the phone.
Yes CES is revealing some very sweet phones, although I haven't seen anything exciting on the WP7 front - especially relating to Verizon.
The (Verizon) Droid Bionic and the (At&t) Atrix are looking pretty tasty. Dual core processors, HD out the box and a mobile PC/MAC integrated platform. Pretty advanced although there is no physical keyboard...
Nothing for T-Mobile except for the Motorola CLIQ 2. :|
I will just wait for MWC.
Yeah I think MWC is the event to wait for. Gave up on the DVP myself and got a 16GB Omnia 7 which I'm very pleased with. It will keep me busy until the end of the year when some really good WP7 devices should be available.

The Omina 7 is a great device if you live in Europe. But I think all of the devices will see improvement with software updates this year.
Does the Omnia 7 have Tmo 3G for data? Thanks
personally only the atrix interests me the other phones are pretty much more of the same i'm a little saddened at the keyboardless/plastic/slate trend at ces
i'm a little more interested in filling the tablet/ereader slot in my egadget collection dvp covers the smartphone slot at least until the summer

If we're talking about North America, the answer is no. The best the Omnia 7 could ever do in Canada or the U.S. would be to use 2G (EDGE) on T-Mobile, AT&T, or Rogers. The 3G bands aren't compatible with any of our carriers.
Which is a crying shame, of course - if you can live without a hardware keyboard, it is a near-perfect form factor.
Yeah, sorry was asking about the US. Edge is really slow on Tmo US here. Are you using Edge in Canada? How is the speed? I prefer the Samsung phones over the Dell Venue, don't like the HD7 screen though.

Getting a DVP in the UK.

I've always wanted a DVP ever since I saw them pop up on youtube etc. They weren't available when I got my Omnia 7 so I had no choice.
I'm not really keen on paying the full retail price for a 16gb version(£450/$735.66) straight from Dell and I highly doubt Computer Exchange will get any pre-owned ones for ages.
Any suggestions?

[Q] What's an MS2 worth?

It's a good phone when it wants to be but it's currently about to go off for repair and once it gets back, it should be a refurb therefore as new so I was thinking of selling just before my contract ends next month yada yada
I'm thinking either a Dell Venue Pro or an Xperia Play to replace it, probably the Dell and I was wondering how much an as new MS2 would sell for. Rooted or unrooted.
If anyone can suggest any good keyboard phones around the £200 mark, I'll take a look into them.
Droid 3 is also an option.
Sent from my Milestone 2 XDA App
But droid 3 is twice the price of the Venue Pro and Xperia Play >.<
True, Dell Venue Pro is so damn cheap, it will be a wise choice after all. But you could also have a look at the HTC 7 Pro...not much more expensive and better keyboard wise I'd assume...I mean coming from a great keayboard device like the MS2 you'd probably moan about Dell Venue Pros little keys...they suck

Samsung Slate

Looks like Samsung Series 7 Slate may soon be sold at Best Buy?
One of the four (4) versions, maybe not this one, was given away at MS Build with Windows 8. Nice tablet....

It's not exactly the same, as the developer one has added sensors. Nobody is fully sure which ones will or won't be on the released product yet, but it's looking like at the very least NFC is unlikely to make it to that.
Might be IN STOCK. Not entirely sure, but you can order it.
Samsung - Tablet with 64GB Memory - Black
----
Update:
Probably(?) not in stock, at the BestBuy store they show stock due in on 10 Nov 2011. I doubt the website has stock - just my opinion.
I planned to buy Samsung slate.. It'll be good to use??
I bought one yesterday from the Microsoft Store. I saw a few others buying them, too. Honestly I don't know how they're selling. Windows 7 is horrible to use on a touch-only computer. I knew this though since I have a convertible tablet PC and it's a pain to use it in tablet mode if I'm not writing notes.
CompUSA lists this:
Samsung XE700T1A-A03US Series 7 Slate Tablet PC - Intel Core i5-2467M 1.60GHz, 4GB DDR3, 128GB SSD, 11.6" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Docking Station, Bluetooth Keyboard
I think it might *not* include the dock & keyboard, because it might be a mistake. Funny.
The Microsoft Store has the dock in stock separately, and lists the dock separately with the tablet during purchase. Also, they sell with Windows 7 Professional, and show 11/11 as shipping date. I think this is safer.
The price is outrageous!

[Q] Should I buy a Tab 10.1

I am thinking of a buying a Galaxy Tab 10.1. The asking price is $300 obo so it is negotiable. Is this a good decision or not?
I am rather uninformed about the current tablet scene so any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
No. Google has just announced the Nexus 10 which is $399 for the 16GB version. The seller is likely trying to sell now so they can trade up before people jump on the current round of new devices and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is worth even less.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is outdated already and Samsung will not be providing anymore software updates for it. (Although I'm sure there will be people saying that it's not 100% certain and their web petitions may cause Samsung to miraculously change their minds and spend more money on getting Android 4.1 released to this device)
Nexus 10. Dream tablet.

Another nexus 10 recommendation, unless its too expensive (I'd recommend waiting and saving up for the difference if money is an issue) or if you must have mobile data on your tablet (if you can tether from your phone this isn't an issue, or if you will always have an available wifi connection).
No way...go for the Nexus 10.

The tab 10.1 will likely not be getting official jelly bean + The screen is not as good as other offerings right now. I think the nexus 10 with its much better screen, and straight from google updates is a much better device for $100 more. Also, where do you live? Used 16 gb tab 10.1s can be had for under $250 off Kijiji in most Canadian cities, and I'd bet it's similar in the states.
Asking $300? Ask him/her if u can punch them in the mouth for offering it @ such a silly price! For that, you might as well spend a few more bucks and buy it retail so you get a warranty with it. On eBay, most working 1st gen S.G 10.1 tabs average between $200-250, depending on the condition and what comes with it. Or you can do what I did and buy a broken one and repair it yourself.
I bought one with a broken screen on eBay for $99 + s/h. Ordered a new LCD for $55 and digitizer for $22 which totals about $175 that I spent on the tab.. which beats buying a working one for more than what it's worth. The 1st generation tab is still a good pick, better than the 2nd gen some say, as long as you're rooted w/ a custom rom and o/c capable kernel installed.
So, if you really want a 1st gen. galaxy tab 10.1, I'd say offer him $200. Otherwise, try eBay or hold out for something better, like mentioned above.
-*Slapping you upside the head from my Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7510*-
grab the Nexus 10

+1 Nexus 10
Fiancee has a Nexus 7 that rocks so if you don't need a 10 inch screen save some dough and get the 7.

You would have to troubleshoot on your laptop as well. Like reinstalling drivers and such if you didn't attempt that.
Back when it was released it was a good tablet. But with very bad support from Samsung, it lost it's grip.

Im sure that the issue is not related to my laptop since i have tried 3 laptops with no luck.
The drivers re-installed more than 10 times. Moreover the other Samsung devices recognized by same laptop properly !
im going to send it to service center
