[Q] Korean Galaxy Tab has no games in market! - Galaxy Tab General

I've had my Tab for 3 days now and the market place just comes up blank in the games section. No listing for any games at all. SlideMarket has some games, and all the games I have came from there, but even those seem to be limited.
Has anyone heard anything about a limitation on the games?
Thanks!

Get market enabler and switch over to another country.

Yes.

Root your phone, install MarketEnabler or MarketAccess, set it to another country, enjoy.
This is what i do to access paid apps (they are not available in my country).

Check out this thread. Allows you to change your CSC region and enable Samsung Apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868711

No offense Beerkan, but he talks about Android Market, not Samsung apps, and considering Samsung apps has next to nothing in it, it's not even worth the work.

none taken. Mate.

Thanks!
Thanks to all of you!!
Only problem now is that I don't think I have an IMEI !
I looked on the back of the unit, and there is a serial number, on the box and the serial number, dialed the numbers for the IMEI and get a not valid number. Also checked the phone info and etc. Nothing.
The phone system here is different, so maybe there is no such thing as an IMEI here?
I had heard somewhere earlier this summer that the games for the iPhone were being restricted some because of the rating issue, but I thought that the Tab would at least have some since the Galaxy S has been out so long. Oh well! I'll just have to wait some.
Thanks again to all for your help!

Android has same restrictions, it's a legal problem. All you need to do is root (use z4root), then install MarketAccess, use MarketAccess to fake your "location" (in other words, it will say to Market that you are for example using a USA or German SIM card), so it will show you a market for another country. And other countries have the games.

Well, I kinda solved this problem, lol!
My friend gave me a 16gb micro sd card with 4 gig of apps he downloaded from somewhere. some of them work, and some don't.
So I'm a happy camper now!!
but still no Angry Birds

Missing Top Paid Apps

My Top Paid apps are missing in my android market, anyone got this or any idea why this could be happening?

are you having troubles with it too?
No, since I'm new to this market. But, I saw somewhere that apps not working (or just updated to work on the mkt) w/2.1 are not showing up for the N1...
happened to me when i first rooted my phone. note that i rooted it before i ever even put in my sim card, but i think it had to do with that.
fixed it by wiping/factory resetting with my sim card in.
How does it work in Nexus market place? If you've already paid for an application, and have uninstall it say temporarily, will you be charged again when you re-download it?
If you bought it from a different market place, how will it know that you're already a paying customer in Nexus market place?
Doesn't matter.. if you've bought an app you can download it again for free. Apps I paid for a year ago on my G1 show up.
Tony, thanks for your reply. Good to hear that info on ownership is shared across the various markets.
if you mean the top paid apps tab in the marketplace app i was missing that also. i had started using the phone without a sim in it, so i wiped everything and restarted with sim in it right away and the top paid tab was back

That would be quite lame otherwise!
Paid apps tab
I had the paid app tab before. Today I just used the phone without a sim for the first time then put the sim back and now the paid app tab is not there anymore. Anyone having the same issue?

So, I found that the build.prop trick from the Captivate forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819721 , will work on my Vibrant and gives me access to:
Asphalt 5
Vlingo
Robert Parker
Krazy Kart Racing
And This Day In History, which I already had access to
My question is, does anyone know if there are more apps that I didn't get access to? I heard mention of a newer task manager but didn't see it in the list.

I actually wonder about this...I mean do you need to be rooted? And if you changed the Vibrant build to the original i9000 Galaxy S build wouldn't that make the apps that are made to work with the Vibrant stop working(or something like that)?
Well, I downloaded them then switched back to my original build.prop and everything works, new apps from samsung, and my old apps.

[Q] How to know if app is compatible?

How can I check if an app will work with my rom? I have downloaded The Sims 3 and it closes after EA logo. And there are several versions of the same app. SOme of them are with different resolution, but some are different not by resolution. How to check and make them working?

Sign into the market (I refuse to call it the 'Play store') on your phone and then go to the market via the tabs on Google, and when you check out an app it should say 'this app is compatible with all of your devices' or something like that.

Me and you both.
Thats a good way to check but I've found a lot of apps that "the market" says wont work actually work just fine. Infact I installed (where's my droid) and the market said it wouldn't be compatible so i had to install it via my SD card. I've never had a problem with it though and it works great.
I'll still call it the market as well. lol. Where the heck they get the name "Play Store" from anyway.

Yeah, you have to clear the market app's cache. The "market" looks at your DPI and then says "yep this app will 'work' with your device" or "nope sorry" and since we have a non native android device, one must use the Hacked DPI market or use a stock DPI setting. You should read me or me for a better understanding of the issue. Just search the thread if you want more reading material whilst your on the throne oh and i think they called it the "play store" because you can now play online with friends. Like you can with xbox live and PSN. Before you could just share scores. now with certain games we can play head to head. Its pretty cool but didnt need a whole changing of the market name -.-
OK, but what if app should work, but it closes after logo? I am talking about non-googleplay apps, downloaded from internet (I don't like doing this, but I prefer download and check first). Are they bad-cracked or just bad version?
And what are the differences between this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5lYW1vYmlsZS5zaW1zM19yb3dfcXdmIl0. which is compatible and this https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwyLDEsImNvbS5lYW1vYmlsZS5zaW1zM19uYV9xd2YiXQ.. which is not? How to check what is the version of that compatible one?

Both links are from the "Play Store" p) but I think they are the same, however I don't understand why the first one is higher in price yet smaller in size. On the other hand, the second one is exactly the opposite, higher in size but cheaper in price. The second one is a higher version. (Shouldn't they have the same version ? )
Also, are you on ICS? If yes, I can presume that is the issue.
Being on ICS, without HWA, makes most apps not work (properly).
Nope, I have Dorimanx, no ODEX.

Well they are both the same app. However, one is older than the other. My guess is the Developer lost/forgot password? Or they didnt feel like updating the current app and rewrote it from ground up and released a new one. As far as downloading the app from the internet, thats a huge gamble as to if it will work or not. Saying the downloaded one wont work could be anything from faulty code to someone cracking it wrongly (BTW HACKED SOFTWARE 'WAREZ' IS NOT PERMITTED ON XDA) so just be carefull as to how deep into discussion we get. But i would not trust downloaded apps. I would trust the market app.

Btw i have the same ROM. And using my phone, a search for the Sim 3 game in the "Play Store" results with the 6.99 priced app version 1.0.47 and it says it IS compatible. I can not even find the other app.
Yeah, but You see - I don't have credit card, my father has, but I don't want to ask him ("Don't waste money" )... And I prefer checking app before buying it. If I could pay by sms/debit card, then I would buy some of them

Haha i understand completely youre not alone. My father is the same way. However, XDA does not allow discussion of warez torrents and illegal things as such. I dont want xda to be shut down because of them, i would most likely cry if they did! :'(
You are on your own with downloading illegal apps :/ its pretty much hit or miss with them as well. Like for my bro's iTouch jailbroken, some apps from installus will do exactly as you said, close after the logo. That usually means the app itself is broken. Thats all im gonna say about illegal apks
Best way is to use free alternatives OK, thanks. I've just wanted to know if it is app's (both market and web one) fault or just it's downloaded version. I'll buy some

How to get the US Play Store

Hello everybody, first post here but been a lurker here for the past few weeks with my new s3.
Ever since I moved overseas from the US their has been many limitations of the web, the play store in my country, i dont mean to be mean, is complete $%#@, most of the s3 owners are perverts, the most downloaded app is something about Naked Ladies. Anyway, I have a rooted phone and I really don't want to use any kind of VPN, their slow, unreilable, and make me put on a passcode which I don't want.
If their is any tweak or hack to get the US playstore that would be wonderful to share, plus I have a US credit card and make sure my phone doesn't use my location services.
Thanks for reading (=

Play store should use localization from the firmware, me thinks. Also, checks build.prop.
If you got a international SGS3 one easy solution would be to flash a European (UK could be best for you) firmware and CSC, then setting localisation to UK. Or, you can flash a AOSP firmware which should be location "free" (except for localisation in settings for UI/Keyboard etc). The AOSP/AOKP builds around are still not 100% perfect though, if you care about such things.
Google for market enabler...
it might give you the apps available in the US but not the services like books, music, movies...

If you can, may please post a link of one?
And what if you already have a custom rom?
I used Market enabler but used a VPN to get free scrabble from US play store but uninstalled them after that, but can still see scrabble in account

Market enabler is the way to go. The play store region is determined by a combination of carrier & country code from your SIM + geo-IP.

Here ya go... enjoy. BTW what country are you in?

I'm in China and I have the same problem. Market enabler allows you to SEE the apps from another country but you still can't buy them. So it's a little bit anoying. If you go on Google play from a computer you can see all the apps.
I've bought apps fine with the market enabler.

[Q] Fake Galaxy S5. Help!

I bought a fake Samsung Galaxy S5 off one of my friends at work. He said it was brand-new and official. I got fooled. It's a fake. At first it looked completely legit until I saw the software but the guy gave it too me for free so it wasn't too bad. I have one issue, I cannot download any apps from the Google Play Store, I used my other e-mail address for "shady" things. It won't download and it just says ''Out of Space" or "insufficient space" even though there's like 15 GB space left. Oh, and I tried APKs too so please don't ask about that. Everything displays the same thing. I don't know how to root it. Also, this thing doesn't have an SD Card so I thought that it was trying to download it into an "SD CARD" but I don't know. Here's some details about this:
ALPS SM-G900 (According to the box)
ALPS SM-G900H (According to the system)
ALPS SM-G900F (According to the back of the phone behind the battery and on Google Play Store on the web)
I don't know the real specs because I cannot download apps like CPU-Z
Can anyone help, I don't know what to do. I really want at least Facebook to work as well as a few other apps. Thanks!
Sorry to give you bad news, but nothing here will work for a fake phone. You will need to Google the various model numbers you have us to find what you need.
damn man, thanks for replying though.
May put you on the path of sorting what chipset it uses .
