[Q] Original FROYO 2.2 from Google - Galaxy 3 General

I have original Google FROYO fw. I'm interesting of flashing it to My Samsung Galaxy 3, so I have some questions:
- Is it possible to flash original Google FROYO firmware to out Apollo?
- If it is possible is it can be done with ODIN?
Thanx in forward for Your answers people

Nop, you can't flash a Stock Android Firmware. You can try to replace Touchwiz apps with stock apps, but it's not really easy.

So I can brick My phone if I flash stock Android?

each telephone has it's own hardware (display, processor etc..) Fw doesn't contains only the operating system but also drivers for i5800. Each telephone has different hardware which means diferent drivers. You can port android or anything from one device to another, but you must make it work with drivers for your device. And that's just a part of it. Don't forget about storage and RAM capacity. May be one day we will have ported Android 3.0 for i5800 - it will be possible but just parcialy - not 1:1
Is here some cook for i5800 who can make our device more stable and make it work ext2 partition for SD ? Or port A 2.3.1 ?
Would be nice

I saw HTC HD2 Win7 phone with stock Android 2.2 on it. So I wonder is it possible for Us to do it...
i don't know how that man do it but i saw it. He make something like boot loader and when He restart his HTC He can chose between Win7 and Android to boot.

Definately we can port it with modified kernals its lik mac on assembled non apple pc but for that we need a boot loader cracked first which is quite not possile for now as no 1 likes to play with there nands and partial bad boot loader means new flash rom and other equipments to mount it.

We don't have a Motorola device, so we don't have to crack the bootloader .

[Q] New Wildfire rom on shipped-roms

Do any of you guys know whats in the new rom RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142189_signed.exe up on shipped-roms ?
If its the 2.2 update would it be possible to extract the rom and intall it with custom recovery ?
I don't know but I don't think its an update to Froyo...
Because when the Desire get the 2.2 update, the build number became 2.XX.XXX
But nothing's sure until someone install it
I'm scared of installing it because I don't want to loose the Clockwork recovery (I don't know if it could delete it or not) and because I didn't reveive any OTA notification.
PS: Sorry for my english I'm Belgian.

You're correct in saying this is not 2.2. However you can run the RUU and re-root using unrevoked3.
The updated rom feels very snappy, and scrolling seems smoother.
Yeah i just realised my stupidity , obviously it would be 2.2xxxxxx if it had been the froyo update .
Oh well at least thats my phone debranded from 3uk and my phone definitely seems to be running much faster .
Or.. just flash latest WildPuzzleROM
its based that RUU
forgive my noobishness but can i flash this file and if i dont like it - switch back to my old one when i have a nandroid backup?
it likely is more complicated isn't it?!

yes you can
branded on 3
I have a question, if i de-brand my 3 Wildfire, would the free skype/messenger still work, because as far as i know unless your using a branded 3 phone, skype/messenger wont work, even if your using a 3 sim.

Well i can confirm that if you're in the UK both msn and skype will still work perfectly once you have debranded from 3 . I'd imagine the same would be true outside of the UK too , as long as your using a 3 sim card i really cant see a problem .

[Q] Is this right?

from what I understand there's 3 part to the system:
the recovery - the root bit
the rom - the OS
the kernel - the core? between OS and hardware? seem like over clock is in this bit
is this right?
and so when we root the phone we only replace the recovery bit? or anything more?
And the RUU will restore those 3 parts back to default which will (in action) unroot the phone?
This is just to check my understanding before I root my phone really
It's ashamed that we don't have a detailed guide around here...
Yep, you've got it pretty much right.

Just make sure not to flash the official RUU .exe, since there is no root for it yet. Install unrevoked and then flash like CyanogenMod 6. =)

Yes! If you want to use those, let it go through Android Kitchen first (removes the RUU "non-root" recovery image), but you dont need to know that stuff.

Downgrade from 1.84.61.2 Unsuccessful!

I'm running an Orange HTC Desire HD. I created the GoldCard successfully and succesfully uploaded the downgrade. However I get 'Incorrect CID' error after running the BootLoader. I was using the 1.3 Downgrade.
Current Android Version: 2.2.1
Software No: 1.84.61.2
Build: 1.84.61.2 CL333804 release-keys
Is this above a problem? Is there any successful way to downgrade this?

you did use the MMC2 number?
did you try it on a few different cards?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/goldcard-helper/name.starnberger.guenther.android.goldcard
i used that after about 6 attempts lol and it worked 1st time!
make sure you selects MMC2!
Just created a Gold Disk using a 4GB SanDisk MicroSD. When I attempted recovery I was greeted with the eponimous 'Incorrect CID' error. So now am creating a Gold Disk using an 8GB Lexar MicroSD. Wish me luck!
Created a Gold Disk using an 8GB Lexar MicroSD. And I STILL get the 'Incorrect CID' error! Will this phone never root?
Are you sure you're using mmc2 number? It caused cid incorrect because you might be using mmc1 or mmc 0
frm bert2662's DHD
I'm in the same boat with an orange htc DHD. This is my second one as I had to send the last one back due to it being unable to receive signal (even though I'd changed the radio settings etc, this one now works but onyl after once again fiddling with the radio settings.
First off I had an issue with the gold card and was getting the same error as you. I used the goldcard helper app, but the first time I tried i entered the mmc0 reverse cid into website which sends the image, the second time it didnt work with mmc2, the third time it was the same code and it didn't work, then finally I realised id mistype the code by 1 digit and that fioxed that error.
then Igot the USB error (no idea why, considering it was working before) reinstalled sync and got rid of that error.
Now I'm getting a 140 bootloader version error and am unable to get past this, i have downloadedtried the RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.14... and the
RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e..>
from : /shipped/Ace/
but it's having none of it.
any help would be appreciated, the phone is running Android version 2.2.1 (I swear the phone i sent back was either 2.2 or 2.2.2).
Baseband version
12.28g.60.140fu_26.05.05.27_M3
Build number
1.84.61.2
Am I going to have to wait until a build number rom surpasses that which is already on the phone? This orange branding is awful, and needless. why would I want 2 of every useful app, the second versions being less helpful undeleteable orange branded garbage?
u need to use mmc2... the tool i gave ya.. just reverse the number thro that... follow the guide for the rest... before u make a goldcard make sure u FULL FORMAT ... not quick format but FULL FORMAT ur sdcard using FAT32..
Thanks man, I think I've been using the wrong mmc, I was using mmc 0 and 1. I will try it using mmc 2. Thanks for the heads up!

download goldcard helper from the market... open it there in the 1st like u will see mmc2.. just copy that number.. paste it on the website in given in the guide.. u will recieve an email with ur goldcard.img and then follow the rest of the guide
I wish the GoldCard Tool could be modified to include MMC 2 as a selectable as opposed to just MMC 0 and 1.

Something similar was done for the milestone, I think.

Man, if you can make Froyo happen on the FlipOut, that'd be awesome. I'm definitely buying one, if it supports Froyo They're becoming quite cheap, here in Italy
OT: how much cheap? My boss has one and I was thinking about making a FroYo/GingerBread ROM for it, but I don't want to fry his phone in the process
BTW, tech info hour: Motorola has released (a looong time ago) a set of files needed to compile Android for the FlipOut (and many other phones). This is the homepage.
The very first step should be to compile Eclair and give it a try on a real device. I don't know if MotoBlur is present (I hope it isn't...), but if the ROM works, the next step is to switch to the FroYo branch, compile again, fix what's broken, test on a real device, move to Gingerbread and so on. FroYo and GingerBread have differencies in the USB-SD handling, so it's highly likely that some changes to the kernel will be required. I don't know much about changes between Eclair and FroYo which affected kernel stuff.

[POLL] Official CWM Rom Manager Support.

Ok guys im making this thread to see who would like to see official CWM Rom manager support, not because I have the ability to do such a thing, it requires our rom and kernel devs.
You need unlocked bootloaderand also doomlords boot manager (to get cwm recovery). Also you need to download rom manager from the market. When choosing the recovery to flash you need to choose htc desire hd.
I was playing with cwm rom manager just now and backed up my rom (wb v6) in one click, phone rebooted and entered recovery and backed up then rebooted upon completion automatically. You can also download roms and google app packages ota from their server from the app. There's even a couple of premium features if you buy the full version.
I want to see some x10 roms up there from our amazing devs and to be able to make the most of this amazing tool.
Im making this thread for people to post their opinions to get devs attention not to give step by step instruction on to use any tools to get your phone bootloader unlocked or flashing boot manager.
Opinions only please.

ROM Manager will never support X10 in flashing recovery from the app. The reason is we can not flash kernels from the os/phone right now. You can select manual override and select a device.
But if remember correctly there was already a thread on this though.

I know search in XDA app is not good
But what can be interesting and helpful is to get OTA updates. It will be great.

Yeah I've used it on my other phones..
As far as ota updates with no radio or kernel upgrade, that would work.
Like I said it would be limited though.
I don't know why x10 can't flash kernels, etc. since the unlocked bootloader. I think that would just require further development and a lot of devs have left

I think maybe we need zdzihu to come back to flash ftf and stuff. I think our bootloader is cracked but the flood gates aren't fully open if we can't write to where ever the radio stuff goes.
I guess we can only hope. Would love to be able to use all this stuff to its full potential and do away with the flashtool which is good but not very convenient if your on the go.

Fastboot refers to procedure consisting of
phone part and user part (run on PC) which suits
to update the system over USB (ROM , SPL,
splash screen), mainly it 's used to flash recovery
or custom splashscreen. As long as you follow
the procedure, it 's safe to use it. You don' t
need to install it, it can be used on every
Android system (client part comes with Win SDK
and can be downloaded for Linux also).
With most phones you don't have to flash things this way though, you can boot into the bootloader and flash files manually from your sdcard, our into recovery for roms, etc...

I think i read that SE disabled fastboot on x10, im sure i read by azuzu it was disabled. The 2011 xperia range got life easy with sony willing do offer a service for this. why did they make the x10 such a problem child?
I guess though its fair to say they appear to be learning their lesson by offering bootloader unlock for 2011+ range, supporting devs, giving phones away, having proper multitouch, 16m colours and looking at bring out dual core phones.
Its too late for some as people moved on now but if you asked people if they reckoned SE would do all this in a couple of years tehy would turn round and say yeah right! IM glad i stuck it out and its been totally worth it to have my x10 how it is now and love it.
Im going off topic big style in my own thread lol
