Nexus S on Rogers 3g - Nexus S General

hey all, just a quick question that im looking to get a quick answer for. i have a pending sale for my nexus one, but i want to confirm before i go through with the sale.
will the nexus s work on rogers 3g bands? iirc rogers is 850 and 1900 and according to google.com/nexus it supports those GSM bands
Connectivity
* Quad-band GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
* Tri-band HSPA: 900, 2100, 1700
* HSPA type: HSDPA (7.2Mbps) HSUPA (5.76Mbps)
TIA

Currently NS only has AWS version, which works with T-Mobile, Cicinnati Bell, I Wireless, Stelera Wireless; Wind Mobile, Mobilicity.
Hopefully there's 850/1900 variation like nexus one for ATT and Rogers, Bell

thanks for the quick reply. looks like i will be pulling my for sale ad

HTC HD2 T9193 850 - 1900 Mhz ?????

Hi .. I was searching the forum because I want to purchase an HTC HD2 T9193 which, I know, has the 850 - 2100 Mhz band. But I found on the net a vendor who offers the HTC HD2 850 - 1900 Mhz band, is this right ?
On the other hand, if there is not such HD2 with 850 - 1900 Mhz band, the one with the 850 - 2100 band will pick up 3G in Canada ?
That model (850 / 1900) was supposed to come out (for AT&T most probably), but it has since been cancelled.
I'd be careful if I were you. You can find more info about it here
The Telstra model (T9193) supports 850 / 2100 MHz like you said. You'll need to check with your service provider if they support 850.

Yes. You'll need to check if ATT supports the 850mhz band IN YOUR AREA.
I'm in a North Shore Suburb of Chicago area and have excellent reception with my T9193 in the area. There are 3 dead zones I've found so far that repeatedly drops calls using the HD2's 850mhz band exclusively. Other unlocked phones I've previously owned that used the 1900mhz band exclusively did NOT drop calls in these areas however. Other than that, reception has been great. It's been reported that ATT is "supposedly" moving their entire network to the 850mhz band exclusively by end of 2010. I'm doubtful they are on target for this date given the number of cities still without any 850mhz support.
T9193
Hi guys ...thanks for your responses. Well, I know that the most important service providers in Canada (Rogers, Telus, Fido) transmit 3G in the 850 - 1900 mhz band. I suppose I will not have problems whether I use the T9193

[Q/SOLVED] What to Use in Canada?

Hey,
I like the Desire Z, I use rogers is this going to be possible?
I currently run t-mobile touch pro2, but in my city they are just upgrading to 3g unlike bigger cities liek Toronto already have it.
# GSM/GPRS/EDGE on the 850 and 1900 MHz bands (Also known as 2G GSM, or 2.5G in the case of EDGE)
# UMTS/HSPA on the 850 and 1900 MHz bands (Also known as 3G GSM)

According to this article...
Bell is going to launch the Desire Z it will have the bands you need for 100% 3G compatibility, since I'm on ATT here in the US, I might have to pick one up too.
Thanks,
that's definetely what I was after... i get confused sometimes...
cheers

Will the Nexus S work on Telus?

The Nexus S supports these networks
Quad-band GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 Tri-band HSPA: 900, 2100, 1700 HSPA type: HSDPA (7.2Mbps) HSUPA (5.76Mbps)

Telus supports 1900/850 MHz frequency bands. More detail at telusmobilityDOTcom/en/ON/network/about.shtm
BTW, AT&T and all other major Canadian providers use these bands.
Edge yes, 3G no
There are definitely a lot of people curious about whether they will release a rogers/AT&T band version. My guess is probably not, AT&T probably won't be interested in picking it up and it would be hard to justify it otherwise.
Ughh I really want to get one but no 3G on at&t is a dealbreaker
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

canada now has 3 providers using the AWS (1700) like T-Mobile. Wind, Mobilicity and (I may be wrong here) I believe Vidéotron
It will NOT work on Telus or Bell, period. It doesn't have the right 3G frequencies and Bellus doesn't have a GSM network.

Nexus 4 support mobilicity network?

On mobilicity website, it says "Our network uses a frequency called AWS, with bands 1700/2100." and they only use AWS 1700/2100
Will Nexus 4 work on this network? cuz iPhone doen't support AWS so it doesn't work on mobilicity network... Plz help
From the Play Store Tech Specs:
Network
Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+
GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
3G (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
HSPA+ 42
The answer would be yes. It should work on all the other carriers too.

All carriers?

Will the One +2 be for Verizon, Sprint, Att, Tmobile and others? Or just GSM only or CDMA as well? Thanks guys, I have heard mixed comments on this which is why I ask.
Why can't you check for yourself ? Here are the bands
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20

Well I did check prior to asking the question and maybe I should have worded it differently. I am just not familiar with what WCDMA is or how the bands effect what carrier you can use it on. For instance, I saw that it supports WCDMA, and sprint which I have is CDMA. What's the difference?
Here are the bands that OnePlus say the Two supports:
https://oneplus.net/2/specs
Connectivity:
(North America version)
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands 1/2/4/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17

And here is at least what one website says Verizon uses:
https://www.wilsonamplifiers.com/frequencies-by-provider
Unfortunately, every website says something a little different.
So, I have no idea if the Two will fully function on Verizon's network.
My guess is "no"
In contrast, here are the bands the OnePlus One supported and it did NOT work on Verizon AFAIK.
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/4/7/17/38/40

The only real difference is that the Two has added LTE bands 4 & 8.
Verizon does sound like it uses LTE band 4 but I don't know enough about bands to know if that is enough, etc.
