There is still a small TS issue in all kernels :( - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

i 've been used all the kernels from huanyu and michyprima, hastarin and mdeejay..and so many builds!i saw that all kernels still has a ts issue most in gaming experience
it would be great if the devs could work somehow on it more ..
also..i like very much to have a live wallpaper without issue on scroling pages..but always when a live wallpaper setting up screen has ts issue !i know its a known bug and must put a simple wallpaper so u can have better performance..!
So..
what u think?is there a way to fix the bugs for better gaming experience such as asphalt and nova etc..
and scrolling through pages with a live wallpaper can be smoother???
thanks for your time for reading this ..
i hope not to get flamed...i know devs has so much to work on kernels..!i just made a simple request for the people who have the same experience and they need the same fix as me
Or..is there a way to fix that by myself something that i didnt know it????

the ts freezes ****s gaming experience up, thats true.. and sad. lets have a bit more patience on this
but hey.. the live wallpapers are killing the performance of android.. doesnt matter on wich phone. some friends got desires, and all of them has the live wallpaper off. if they set it on, it laggs even more than on my hd2!!
and the same on my nexy! live wallpaper make it laggy >.<!

so..lets hope for a fix so we can play smoother gaming
about live wallpapers i didnt know that the ts issue also exist and in nexus one device and desire too...!so if it is like that..then i'll pass it
too bad because there are so nice live wallpapers wich can be costumizable in you likes and use it as wallpapers such as nexus revamped and u can use your own wallpapers and make the lines pass like the nexus one original
panoplanet live wallpapers is also nice which u use panoramic wallpapers and it looks soooo amazing..too bad screen lags with live wallpapers and drains much more faster the battery!
thanks...

You might want to try formatting your SD card to a 32K Cluster Size, I saw it recommended in these forums, tried it myself, and have been playing without issues since they did the TS Fix.
Ive been playing A LOT Pocket Legends (Multi-Touch MMORPG game ) and Ive had zero issues with it. Asphalt run awesome, but I must admit I unistalled it after trying Raging Thunder 2 and NFS: Shift, Glyder 2 works amazingly well too. No Accelerometer or TS fixes in either of those.
I always do a Format to 32K Cluster Size before trying a new ROM, the best one if used so far is MDJ 1.7. Trying right now the HD build

Pocket Legends is probably the most demanding game of all of those, and it runs perfectly, even with LOTS of people on screen. The issue with Asphalt seems to be the GFXs engine. NFS Shift looks way better than Asphalt and it doesnt lag at all, and I played NOVA for about an hour without any screen lag, same for Toonwarz, so dunno
Formatting to a 32K cluster size helps sometimes since it tends to increase the read/write timings at the expense of smaller files occupying a bit more of space, but in the end it pays off imo.
Some TS issues have been found to be directly linked with SD speeds and high CPU loads, so you might wanna try a faster card if available just to be sure
I really dunno what else to suggest ya, Im currently playing more with my HD2 than my PSP (its actually collecting Dust since Android got installed lol)
I could suggest ya trying out this Build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823491
With that stock kernel and everything, pretty much the most stable Build I've ever used.
Hope it helps

U guys have cm builds ? I get it on all cm builds , but none of the sense builds (otherwise id have cm myself)

[Q] Jumping over to the HD2

So I'm thinking about ditching my MyTouch Slide [Espresso] and jumping over to the HD2, since my friend did that a few months ago, and he's been experiencing nothing but good things, but I still have a few questions to ask the general Android HD2 community, since apparently the HD2 is more supported than the Nexus One.
[Sorry, TONS of questions here]
How does the battery normally hold up? I know it depends on the rom [Sense drains battery like a *****, I know from personal experience], but I'm asking about generalities here. On light usage, does your phone last for 12 hours? 10?
What is still the most generally buggy feature on the HD2, regardless of ROM? Wifi? Bluetooth? Camera? In other words, what usually doesn't work and/or is the most buggy?
Do most market apps work for the HD2? Because I know certain apps are optimized for certain phones, and I'm wondering what apps usually work/don't work.
Is the touch screen REALLY that receptive? I hear that it's one of the best on any Android-running phone.
and finally...
What is the maximum STABLE overclock you can push onto the HD2?
Sorry for the tons and tons of questions. I just want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing before dropping $250 on a phone, lol.
Ok gonna do my best here. With wifi off I easily get 10+ with medium usage. Wifi, bluetooth, all work fine, still have data freezes using ppp but they getting to be few and far between. Still have touch screen freezes occasionally but you just wait a sec and all is well again. Touch screen us very responsive.. Every app I have tried has installed with no problems. My hd2 oc's stable to 1.113 ghz which is plenty for me, some will even go to 1.28 oc, just depends in the phone. Things are getting better every week of development. So in conclusion (never used a mt slide) if you can handle a strictly touch screen phone. And like to try new builds go for it.. I'm sure you won't be disappointed

Battery life for me is about 28-30 hours with average use (about an hour of calls, couple dozen emails, and an hour or so of music, 3G connected all the time, and about an hour browsing). Calibration is the key to getting good battery life. Even with heavy usage (3 hours calls, 2 hours music, Wifi connected four hours and heavy browsing and some gaming) My battery still lasts over 12 hours.
Most buggy... depends really on ROM. The build I'm using now (see sig) is [knock on wood] pretty flawless. I've not had an error in the three days I've been using it so far, but not everyone is as lucky as me. Your milage WILL vary. Some roms work perfect for some and are horrendous for others.
Again, I've not found an app that doesn't work yet. HD2 is a top of the line spec phone, so if something doesn't work on it, the app itself is usually at fault.
The touch screen is AMAZING, easily the best I've used and compares well to the Desire HD's screen.
Overclocking is pointless. End of story. You have a 1Ghz processor in the HD2, unless you're planning to take over the world why would you need anything more than that to play Angry Birds?

Quadrant scores are useless too. They really just measure how modified your kernel is to fit the test - it doesn't really translate to real life usage at all.
I have tried pretty much every build there is and I have settled on the CM6 builds being the most stable and smoothest. I started using Shubcraft(RMNET) in August and since then I tried out all kinds of Sense builds. After a day or two with the sense builds I always got tired of the lag that there is in sense, or other problems like the camera not working in some sense builds, or the PPP connection being so unstable.
I am now using Michyprima's daily CM6 build. It is very stable, I get through a day(8am-10pm) everyday even w/ pretty heavy use. My only complaint is that there are still TS freezes (even though I read they are supposed to be fixed), the PPP data connection freezes too frequently, and sometimes the screen takes a little while to wake up.
The phone is quite usable for day to day use, but it isn't free of bugs like your MT Slide is.

Free of bugs? Haha how funny. The Froyo Sense build I'm running has no keyboard lights, a few buttons don't work, and the browser force closes if java is enabled.

lol at the above. And just to reiterate, any and all benchmark scores are ultimately pointless. It's how it actually performs which only you can judge, not be told by a bunch of numbers which can be synthetically bumped up and still produce a competely unstable heap of poo.

also , u know whats the difference between ati hd4870 and 4890 ? nothing , but the clockrate , try telling any1 who works with technology clockrate is pointless .. oh wait u already did

And you've been awarded the "I don't know jack about phones" prize too. I know full well that overclocking a processor increases cycles per second and overall throughput but that means absolutely nothing unless all you care about is benchmarks. I prefer to have a stable phone that doesn't reboot on me ever, and plays EVERYTHING ON THE MARKET perfectly, thanks. Go troll elsewhere. And maybe you should listen to the kernel devs who say overclocking is NOT necessary.

any problems with the phone apart from with games?
try flashing a stock rom
Where did you get your gameloft games from? Make sure you're using the latest version, most games are rushed iOS ports and run fast on some phones and slow on others.

I had problems with Nova 2 on stock JVP, it needs 70-75Mb of free RAM to run properly and Gingerbread seems more RAM hungry than Froyo was.
I flashed a RAM optimising script by JUWE and use the active apps to clear level1 RAM before gaming and no problems anymore.
Think Darky's has it's own version of RAM optimising, so just clear the RAM before playing. It's not your phone, it's the Gingerbread.

[Q] Sad about my galaxy note, advice please :(

Hello all, first post here after reading for quite some time
I researched alot and decided to buy this phone because I concluded it was the best, performance, quality, resolution, etc
I have the phone for a week now and I don't feel happy with it, overall I see the phone is not really smooth, it frequently freezes for like 2 seconds when opening or closing an application, I was quite happy until before I installed some apps, like modern combat 3 and aftermath xhd, I can't install those via market because it says it's not compatible with my device, so I tried them out because I was too curious to see its performance, and I'm very disappointed...
modern combat 3 is unplayable, the menu is laggy, the game feels like its constantly loading something, it's choppy, I played only half of the first level because I couldn't go on anymore. Aftermath XHD was laggy at first, but now I'm at the sniper level and I had to give up, it's unplayable, when a shot is fired it lags so much it stops for like 3 seconds. I read all over the internet that those games run smooth on defys, so what's the problem here?
I'm at stock rom and kernel (N7000UBKK1, 2.6.35.8-N7000UBKK3, GINGERBREAD.UBKK3), I'm not really into flashing, but after reading over the games thread people saying it's smooth and working fine I think it's my only hope, if it doesn't fix it I guess my hardware would be faulty then.
I'm starting to think that the internal disk is the bottleneck, and I'm not sure if updating can turn a non-playable game smooth, so has any of you guys ever experienced this or been through this, can give some advice or based on your experience point out if it is possible to solve this problem?
thanks in advance

Hey, after using the Iphone 3gs since its release I must say Im impressed with both Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note BUT the random freezez and input lag that appears every now and then is just frekking annoying. Even with custom romz and different kernels this happens atleast 10 times everyday. As a techie guy I like the freedom that android gives me compared to the endless jailbreaking and ego behaviour by apple. However I'd say android devices must with the current hardware fix this type of problems since in the end user experience is the most important and If I spend 600 euros on a phone I'm sad to say that touchwise it still lacks a lot but after playing with it now for two weeks I have to say that I've gotten used to it. Samsung should stop pushing so many devices and focus on making the android software more stable, better touch input and reduce the frekking lag, dual core or not.
This forum is the best I've found and has everything a phablet nerd needs
Samsung Galaxy S2 - Stock Rom 2.3.5 with Launcher Pro (faster than the note with standard settings!!!!)
Samsung Galaxy Note - RocketRom V9 KKA 2.3.6 Launher Pro, CPu 1,6 mhz (still!! laggs sometimes)
Yeah, the Note is not polished enough yet. But don't lose faith - it will get better once we get ICS, shouldn't be that long. Right now it's up to you - you can improve it noticeably by flashing, tweaking and overclocking. I did that and I don't look back it ain't perfect but good enough for me.
KL3 soft + Abyssnote 2.5 kernel + OC (1650) + either lulzactive governor and vr scheduler (very responsive OS) or ondemandx gevernor and sio scheduler (smoother 3D games). These are settings that do the trick for me.

It's also not compatible with everyone else's device, and people are reporting the game runs fine, how so?
If your game data is in your external SD Card, that may well be the problem
Anyhow, the Note is a niche device with a flavor of early adopting, since it's the first phone with this big a screen (the streak was a tablet, if I'm not mistaken?) and because it's one of the three first with a HD resolution.
What does that mean? That many things that work flawlessly on lesser devices won't work here simply by lack of dev support. One example? The gameloft games, my favorites. None of them are officially supported, and I haven't managed to make them work unofficially.
One thing is for sure: Android required flashing, period. The Defy is crap without any flashing, so is the Atrix, and now the Note is. At the very least, put on the CWM recovery, which takes about 60 seconds of your time, and try the custom Kernel that is swimming lonely down in dev section that allows you an OC of 1.7ghz. See if that helps with the lagging.

Don't worry with this kind of responses, you'll get them here sometimes. This is XDA, forum 100% dedicated to tinkering with phones so who cares what's compatibile with what. Make it work and enjoy.
This game is about 1.4GB if it has been installed on your internal memory you will definitely run out and and your phone will struggle,go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/Remove To SD card.
Just another boring witch hunt thread (yawn).
thanks a lot for the replies guys, you guys really helped a lot, I'm a lot more confident now and anxious to start flashing!
I got one question before starting the flashing process, is the JIG dongle for the S2 compatible with the note? I can't find the note JIG anywhere around here
I thought mw3 didn't work with the newest gingerbread yet.
Like the above poster said, try kl3. Little lag I had disappeared.

CM7 v Stock

Hi all,
for the last couple of days i've been thinking about giving CM7 a try. i've only ever used stock based roms so far and just wanted to hear peoples thoughts on the comparisons between CM7 and stock SE roms and what sort of experiences people have had with CM7.
many thanks
tom
basically both are ok but if you want the most gamepad compatibility stick with the stock SE firmware as CM7 tends to have more issues

CM7 basically removes the playstation from your playstation phone, i've tried CM7 a few times, but always gone back to stock.

So would you reckon that its not worth putting on given that i'll lose the features of the phone that were the main reason for me getting it in the first place mate?

Yeah thats the conclution i came too, on the other hand, if you don't game that much, CM7 is super fast and has some great features!

It's not that dramatic, you can keep playing emulators and many current games, without any issue. It's a bummer for Gameloft and EA games though.
i like stock more because touchpads are not fully working on cm7
thanks everyone, been reading thru some of the posts on the cm7 thread and people seem to have random glitches that, although they can also happen on stock, have swayed me towards sticking with stock firmwares. add to that the possibility that the touchpads will be iffy at best. again, thanks to everyone who took the time to reply and offer their views on the subject
tom
p.s. the leaked ics rom had nothing to do with what i decided on. honest guv
Interesting thread.
I was going to switch over to a custom rom but this has kind of put me off.
Is this just for CM7? (regarding controls)
I have this phone only because of the controls, but feel like I'm not getting the best out of it with the stock rom. What rom should I be looking at if any?
Thanks!
I got fed up with the amount of bloatware and things I never used running in the background, so I gave the FreeXperia PROJECT rom a go, so far I'm loving it.
The only issue is the touchpads BUT there are games that have that driver built in (Age of Zombies, THE DEAD: Chapter One), apart from GTA3 I've yet to find a game I like that uses them (Dead Space and Fifa not my cup of tea).
I mainly use FPse (touchpads not needed) and have truly fallen in love with my Play.
Each to there own though
I just got CM7 FXP054 fully working, and overclocked to 1.6GHz, on my r800x last night. The touchpads don't work on GTA III, but do work every other game I play. I'm loving it and I'm getting suprisingly great battery life. I still wish r800x users had more roms and kernels to choose from.
the touch pads in gta3, the left one changes the radio station and the right one moves your aiming when your zoomed in the sniper rifle, so they are pretty useless, would be nice if you could move the camera or look behind, maybe steer.
ive been thinking about flashing since i want to overclock to improve gta3 and just have a basic functions, never tried CM before, does doom kernel have working touchpads?

I tried GTA 3 while on CM7 and it didn't even recognise when the control pad was slid out thus forcing you to use on screen controls, may have been fixed in recent builds though, really hope that touchpads get fixed asap, as soon as they do, CM7 is my daily driver forever!
This is with FXP054
There are things about CM7 that I love: the non-sony themes throughout, customisation options built into the ROM, custom kernel (could NOT get custom kernel working on my stock ROM) AND MY BELOVED CRT LOCK ANIMATION
There were three issues for me though that stop me from using CM7:
1. Battery life is atrocious! I can actually see the battery percentage dropping during normal use, nothing out of the ordinary running and it just drains, from 15 minutes of facebook, 10 minutes of twitter, 1 hour of watching shows with Moboplayer the battery had 20% left from a full charge 4 hours ago. With stock ROM the battery will be about 65% after all that (daily routine)
2. Sound output just sucks. I plug the phone into my car stereo for my drive to/from work, no matter how much I play with the equaliser and all of the sound settings audio playback sounds bad. The bass is distorted and it's a lot quieter than stock ROM. I experienced this same sound output phenomenon with a different handset running CM7 so I think it's a CM issue
3. Automatic screen brightness doesn't seem to work at all

The only problem of these that I'm experiencing is the last one. The auto-brightness is all over the place. My battery life is a little bit less but not enough to bother me, and I'm guessing that's from my overclock.
I started using CyanogenMod7 in Febuary last year. When I got my Play, I messed around with Stock ROM, and while it was slick, bloatware free and fast, and I was impressed, it lacked CM's little tweaks I had to have. The dodgy touchpad support is a nuiscance, but a minor one.

I don't know what your talking about. I can play EA and Gameloft games on CM7 just fine. Feels no different than stock.

Noone besides you is able to. I gave the ROM you claim works with these games a try, and it didn't work at all for me.
I choose CM7 over stock since I don't play any games that are broken on CM. Would be nice if GTAIII worked, but it doesn't work well with stock, so I can give up that ghost until Rockstar better supports our device.

[Q]Best rom for gaming?

I just wanted to know 1 good rom for playing hard games like NFS Shift, Modern Combat, Nova etc. To have 1.5 GHz+OC and to be stable and good for everyday use. No sense, better to be version 2.3+ it could be Cyanogen. Thanks.

No ROM will give you a particularly great gaming experience for HD/3D games to be honest. NFS Shift runs alright though, and I'm using Typhoon with the stock kernel. From what I've heard, any CM7 ROM will do fine, but stick with those. Probably Dorimanx as it appears to be the best, but I CBA to flash a new ROM right now
Honestly any and all roms on HD2 aren't going to give you gaming experience that you yearn for. Simple gaming is pie ... Yet, trying to play any game that requires a lot of your hardware will only leave you at best a little disappointed.
