Auto Brightness - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So what file would I have to edit to adjust the default brightness levels of the auto brightness? Example: I want it to be brighter based on the same amount of ambient light.

Same Idea
I thought of the same thing... but additionally, would like to be able to adjust it on the fly.
So an app with a little slider that adjusted the phone's tolerance to ambient light would be sweet. There's got to be a way this can be done with Tasker.

Automatic brightness adjustment?

Anyone know if there is a way to adjust the automatic brightness function - i.e. have it still be automatic, but be a little bright or darker for a given ambient light?
would really like to keep using it, but want my overall brightness turned down. using manual brightness with widget for now, but don't see why automatic brightness could not be tweaked. tried searching for an app to do this, but have not come up with anything. nothing came up in a google search of xda either. anyone got anything?
I want to know as well, I wouldn't mind setting the auto brightness to be more fine tuned as well, smaller changes.
Yes a better working app is needed. something like My Light or Lumos for winmo

Auto Screen Brightness is too dark

Hi all,
I found that the default auto brightness setting always render the screen darker than my favourite. For certain I want to keep the adaptive approach (i.e. the screen brightness will change according to my physical enviornment), however I would like to fine tune it such that it will always return a +1 / +2 brightness on top of the default return. Do anyone know any apps / tricks can I do so?
p.s. I know I can place an widget to manual adjust the brightness, but I am now looking for a way to fine tune the automated value.
Thanks all!

Did you ever solve this. Posted numerous times about a similar issue but never really found a proper solution.
You can use Tasker. Set up profiles for depending how much the light sensor sees, you can have the brightness exactly how you want. Note: You need to disable auto brightness for this to work.

Lux settings?

Anybody using Lux to control screen brightness? I mainly got it so I can get a dimmer screen setting for reading at night. I found that the default lux setting is too bright by default, typically being around 60% screen brightness during the day. So I'm curious what other people are setting the custom settings to.
Lux is cool because even though its auto adjust, if you find it to bright you can pull up the dashboard from the notifications drawer or the widget. Then slide the slider to where you think it should be according to the light level you are at. Then hold down the little icon that looks like a chain. This will "link" the brightness level with the current lighting level. You actually make lux better for you by personalizing it. Link as many settings as you want to various lighting levels.

Yeah. So far I like it. Just curious what % people are using for normal use. It also looks like stock min brightness on android is 15%. The low settings on lux go from 15% to 0% with nothing in between.

You guys should try screendim if you have root. You can adjust any brightness levels, it even has a second adjustment for contrast so you have a lot more control. Its not free but well worth the few dollars imo.

I just installed a custom kernel and it looks like it includes a 5% brightness setting. Should be good.

Customize minimal brightness

I saw a thread in Samsung division that ro.lcd min_brightness parameter in build.prop under path /system/ can be use to customize the minimal brightness.
However I can not find the same parameter in N4 so that I would like to know if we can customize the minimal, maximal, half brightness by our own and how?
Or is there any Mod available for this purpose. Thanks.
If you want to drop the brightness level for battery savings, I can't help you. But if you just want to read in the dark more comfortably, try the Screen Filter app.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
In CM10 you have an option to change the brightness level manually at each lux level interval. It's a great feature to have as I find that as standard the brightness levels on all ROM's I've tried are set too high. With this method you can still have the brightness level adjust automatically but to your own levels rather than the predefined ones.

Get the app Lux. You can change the minimum and maximum range of your backlight. Lots of other customizations as well.

Always On Display Maximum Brightness Level

Is there a hack or a utility that allows the user to set the maxiumum brightness of the AOD? I realise that it dims when the ambient lighting is dim but I find it too bright at other times.
AOD seems to have only 2 brightness levels, dim and bright. I'd like to be able to turn down the brightness.
Maybe you can find a custom rom with and brightness control ability?
Twiztd rom comea with such control ability(Twiztd controls) . I just found your thread. Hope that helps.
