Never use OCLF, it's dangerous.
Just flash a kernel containing it, it will give you lots of other advantages too.

the thing is i have wifi version P1010 i dont think i can flash it so idk....

Same experience here. I'm thinking whether could this have to do with the firmware?
I remember I used to have KC2, and the vibration feedback was still there (or so I think). Now I have KB5, feedback was gone.
I'm speculating here. Wish I had a copy of my previous firmware to verify.

Hi all.
I noticed that the Eris 2.1 is running kernel 2.6.29-5. Can someone confirm this? I have not installed it yet and probably wont have a free second to do so until Saturday.
Also if that is the kernel version then would the Tattoo exploit work?
(p.s. It really stinks that the root status thread got closed and Acid jumped ship and I really hope everyone has not given up)

[Q] got new vibrant update worked fine, should i?

Ok, after the last tmo/samsung update bricked my vibrant i got my replacement left it stock and let it update. it worked fine. Question is, should I root, incase they send another update i cannot refuse and it bricks my phone again. It's just that the lag fix makes it twice as fast. But i don't like bricked phones.

It's easy once you read and understand. And i'm almost certain you could've fixed your last 'bricked' phone if you searched.
I searched. the first was a soft brick sticking at vibrant logo. I fixed it, but I didn't have a stock backup i flashed, it was a "stock rom" i found on here somewhere. But when it bricked the second time it wouldn't power up, no battery on screen when charging, nothing. But, I will give it a go this way and see what happens, I have 2 now, so eh. It's fun, but I am jsut getting into it. like I flashed it with one of the froyo roms, but the sound wouldn't work for nothing, i searched and no one else using that rom had that problem that i could find. So i know there was something i didn't do. I just wanna makesure i can get it back to stock if i need to.

Ok, so I did all that you mentioned seemed to work fine, but this fusion rom doesn't seem like much. now don't flame yet, i am just talkin. but it doesn't look like it changed much other than add launcher pro and as for lag. it's not as slow as stock but with ryans lag fix my quadrant score was 2550 and i'm getting 950 on this. although i have to say the gps snapped to lock. that was great.i really like the froyo rom i flashed before if i could have figured our how come my sound wasn't working and everyone else did not have that issue.

There are a few options available on TeamWhiskey website:
1. Fusion with stock kernel
2. Fusion with JAC kernel
3. Fusion with KK kernel
All of the above do not include any lagfixes, except a manual invocation via ADB for RyanZA's equivalent, a.k.a mount /data on a virtual EXT2 partition.
Optionally you can load Voodoo EXT4 based lagfix on non stock kernel options.
Another project is underway with TW own overclocked kernel and z4mod.
And as far as not much, compare the system resource utilization on stock Vibrant and on Vibrant with Fusion (with stock kernel option) - the guys over at TW have squeezed as much as possible out of TouchWiz to make the phone snappier, and as an added bonus they have removed most of the bloatware for you as well leaving the Media Hub for those who might wanna use it.

it's going to suck heavy for you if you download the actual froyo update, because you wont be able to root your phone again (unrevoked hasn't come out with an update that works on froyo)

SUnaAaBh v1.1 is just as unstable as every other custom ROMs. It crashed everytime I ran it. Its just publicised incorrectly by the guy as best ROM. If you actually read the post you might find the self-praise disgusting, maybe.

I am pretty sure you are doing something seriously wrong. I have tested most of the custom ROM's out there (Currently on WildPuzzle coz I kinda prefer LWP and Sense), and, they have never (hardly, if ever), crashed on me.
Besides, I just checked the Sunnabh thread, it hardly looks like self praise. Most of them have just said the exact thing the ROM author claims his ROM does, that it is stable. That said, if you are not satisfied, kindly move on, and, dont bad mouth the ROM author. He is not obliged to provide you with "stable" (as per your definiton) ROMs.
Get the OTA FroYo update, and enjoy your Wildfire.
Cheers

Then what's all the patches for, mate ?
You picked the "works perfect" posts and quote it in first page.
How about I quote all the "not working" posts and "do you have a patch" posts ?
Your work should speak not the keyboard. Its totally unwarranted from your side to do anything like that. I have never seen any other developer design such a page.

If I read the thread correctly, I think it is written as "ADDON PACKAGES and INSTALLERS". And, I guess, the name should be enough for you to know the meaning and the reason for the "patches", i.e., they are not bugfix packages or anything, but, additional functionalities which are upto the end user whether they want to install it or not.
It's not that if you dont get the patches, the ROM will crash on you a thousand times (If you do everything properly ,which, most of them have).
That apart, patch requests are again requests to improve the functionality and add convenience features, not bugfixes, which I came across the thread.

ANYWAY BACK ON TOPIC:
I noticed that the app called "SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse" (google it) has an option for unrooting...I haven't personally tried it (ended up using Unrevoked Linux LIVECD to root).
Let us know how it goes.
I noticed everyone is just focusing on flashing the wildfire with custom rom. Isn't there other ways like faking the signature so the update can still be installed?
I have the same problem, when I tried the OTA update it fails with message "invalid signature". I guess the rom installer is checking the signature of the currently installed OS.
Maybe one solutions is to restore the original HTC 2.1-update1 rom then run the OTA froyo update. Then in the near future, there will be root solutions for Wildfire froyo.

Link to other ROMs for Advent Vega Tablet

Guys,
Looks like the folks at the Modaco Advent Vega tablet forum are also using the VeganTab version of the ROM for our Gtablets. Would any of the ROMs on their rom download page also work on our Gtablets?
Here is the link: http://android.modaco.com/content/a...6486/advent-vega-rom-software-updates-guides/
Anyone know if any of these Vega roms would work on the gtablet without modifications? Looks like they're also using the Vegan rom that the developers here made for the Gtablet.

I just tried Big Ideas ROM in our Gpad...It works but its all in chinese, have to set language to english and wifi is broken. Other than that everything seems to be fine. Had to build a boot.img though coz the included boot.img wont work.
UPDATE:
Figured out how to change language from Chinese to ENglish and did a wifi patch. Everything is functional so far. Will do further testing and might release Big Ideas ROM for our GPAD. BTW, its pretty snappy
This Big Ideas Rom dont even need a market fix.
Have been using the the Big-ideas variations since 1202 on my Zpad. Have had no issues with wifi, lag and market. What I did was NVFlash Big Ideas ROM then made a GAPPS update with update.script to delete all Chinese apps then pushed the Google apps. This has been working out quite well.
I guess what Rothnic proposed about using Big-ideas as a base then add Vegan stuffs is heading in the right direction.
Rom 1.06.05 (VEGA) is the base foundation for VEGAn beta 4/5, FYI. A lot of this is intermingled.
I do like that link, as they seem to update it frequently.

I'm confused... I thought that ZPad 3.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853310) already *was* essentially the vanilla version of the Big Ideas ROM, with the Chinese language stuff stripped out.
Thanks my understanding, as well.

Hi
I heard somewhere that flashing the JPK (only JPK not the others) with bootloaders will give better results.
Bootloader of JPK and JPQ are the same, and I have got the same results with JPQ bootloader as the older ones. For instance, the crackling sound at unlocking the screen while playing music in the background is still present... Anyway, I think things like that are independent from the bootloader, but my curiosity drove me to test it

[?] Quick Answers would be appreciated.
I want to know will running processor on a 800Mhz Clock Frequency effect the processor or Phones' chips life? Even if phone life will be affected by 0.1% please tell me. Or it is perfectly a recommended frequency? Also why cant my 5801 run Live wallpapers perfectly whenever Live Wlppr is used along side a app the app force closes and there are lots of lags in the phone? Please answer soon. Thanks in advance.
clarkkov said:
OCing the CPU or any other part of hardware will shorten the hardware component life because of higher operating temperature. It's hard to say is this particular SG3 hardware made to operate at 667MHz or is this frequency designated by Samsung to save battery life and to place this device in the low end of the market. There are rumors that SG3 CPU is designed to run at 800MHz.
Live wallpapers run fine on this firmware, you must have done something wrong when enabling them or you're using faulty live wallpaper. The lag will occur in any SG3 ROM as the CPU is not potent enough to run live wp with any other app (OC to 1000MHz if you want to avoid lags, you can also try other launchers, like ADW or LP instead of TWiz to reduce the lag).
