Rom manager - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hello xda. I hope you guys have a solution to my problem. I am playing with the ROM manager from clockwork. But i can't reboot into clockwork recovery? It says installation failed. Then goes to regular recovery mode? Anybody know how to fix this?
Cheers..
EDIT: actually it says Installation aborted.

When you go to the regular recovery, is it the recovery <3e> ? Because if you have the recovery <3e>, you have to go back to recovery <2e> because this recovery can use unsigned update.zip file, whereas the recovery <2e> can't...

no need to go back look for "CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPO-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1"
use odin select file as pda and flash

Flash roms from "rom manager"

Is it possible to flash roms directly from Rom Manager without having to start via recovery?
My question is because I cant start my phone in fastboot, recovery, bootloader etc. The screen turns all black if I try anything.
So in Rom Manager there is an option "Flash Rom from SD-card"...pretty much the same that you can see in recovery from clockworkmod. And if I click on it, then I can wipe data and cache also.
Is this a way to flash roms for me if I cant make it to recovery or start the phone in fastboot?
Yes you can flash roms directly from ROM Manager, that is how I do it atleast
nice, will test this! if it doesnt automaticly boots in recovery for the flashingprocess? Or does the rom manager creates a own recovery maybe?
It boots into Clockworkmod recovery I think

Yes it did! and cant boot into that!! Really this is a annoying thing for me!
And I cant run unrevoked again either because I cant boot into HBOOT, so cant install the android bootloader interface. AAAAHH!
Try installing a recovery from rom manager. If there is some problem with the original recovery, it might help. This works by placing the recovery image as 'update.zip' under your sdcard and rebooting. That will her flashed and HOPEFULLY you will have a working recovery.

I have tryied that! Or do I have to do something after that? With the update.zip? Run it via astro or something?

Ensure you have the update.zip directly under your sdcard and go for a normal reboot. It should flash it and take you to recovery mode.

Have that, and have tryed different versions on the recovery, still only black screen for me when trying this!
Have you tried pressing the power button when in the black screen? I was caught unawares when the recovery mod boot and stays in the cloclworkmod image and not go to the options. I have to press the power button to reach the recovery mod options. I have run out of ideas, sorry.

Thanks for the effort! Have tryed it like 100 times, but cant make it into recovery! Have to take the battery out and restart the phone in normal mode. Thats all I can do, and have tryed all different ways to make it into recovery.
(from rom manager, voldown+power), restart-->recovery, restart-->bootloader)
same results every time...maybe works if I get a new battery or new sdcard or something!

That is because ROM Manager downloads and stores a temp recovery on your sdcard which it loads when you reboot with it. When you reboot into recovery manually you're loading the recovery image that you flashed to your device with Unrevoked.
aha
so does it matter from what recovery i install a custom rom?

No, there is only one system disk where install the ROM
i dont see the need of a second recovery

Say you accidently flash over your recovery.img (The system one, impossible unless you have S-OFF/do some exploit)... update.zip (Rom Manager one) to the rescue! And vice versa.
Most common use is if you have CWM 3.0.0.6 like me, and sometimes you need to use Amend scripts for radio, etc.
aha
but i do have s off

ClockWorkMod Recovery ?

Hello XDA community. I was reading at this thread
[RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for Vibrant (FINAL! SAFE!)
and I did everything in there as it states, what Im trying to do is to flash my cell with ClockworkMod but I cant get this to work as after I have made the steps below it doesnt takes me to ClockWorkMod Recovery options
Installation instructions:
Download ROM Manager from the Market.
Flash Recovery.
Choose Vibrant as your phone.
Accept the Superuser prompt.
On the very FIRST boot of Clockwork, you may need to manually select "reinstall packages" if Clockwork does not start. You should only ever have to do this once. It will be automatic from then on.
Watch the backup go!
Step 5 it attempts to download the package but it doesnt download it as it goes to half of the download bar.
Am I doing anything wrong?

The file finishes downloading within Rom Manager, and you're able to reboot into Recovery (the 2nd option below Flash Recovery).
After reboot, is it Default Recovery or Clockwork Recovery? One has if I recall correctly white text with 4 lines, whereas Clockwork Recovery is green text with 8 lines. If it's white text, then choose reinstall packages, it'll load the update.zip file which is the Clockwork Recovery file that was downloaded.
If the Flash Recovery option never completes successfully, are you attempting to download via wifi or data?
Is your phone rooted?

Ok, I did the first steps using Rom Manager and it did download the file and added a folder at my internal/sd_card root folder.
After reboot it took me to the Default Recovery.
I did the reinstall packages but it doesnt completes the installation.
Im attempting via WiFi as for now I dont have data available on my plan.
Do you think this is the problem?

how to root official 2.2 for the vibrant

i have a samsung vibrant with official 2.2 and i wanted to know how i can root this version and i wanted to know how to flash a custon rom which i already knw how to do but my 3e recovery mode is not installin the update.zip file and its not leting me to boot in clockwork recovery.
Root by using Superoneclickroot 1.9. You can flash a voodoo enabled kernel to get the Red voodoo/CWM recovery or flash back to stock to apply update.zip.

When you attempt to go into recovery in CWM and you select Flash recovery if it goes to the stock recovery you should select "reininstall packages" sometimes it takes 2 or 3 times of doing this and than it will finally take and you should have CW recovery.

3e recovery doesn't allow you to flash update.zip files.
downgrade with odin to 2.1 with the proper tar file and pit file. Then when ur on 2.1 its alot easier. Put the update package on ur internal sd card and turn ur phone off. Then hold down both volume buttons then power it back on and when u see vibrant come on let go of the power button. U will then see recovery then all u have to do is reinstall package and u may have to do that once or twice but then after that u will have the green recovery and ur phone will be rooted and ready to rock with some roms.
enjoy

Samsung s5360 stocked on recovery mode.

Just wondering if you can help me guys.
So, after i've rooted my device and placed CMW version 5.0.2.6 into it. suddenly after clicked reboot system in recovery mode, it just returns to recovery mode. Its like a reboot loop, but its in the recovery mode. PLEASE help me.
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.

How did you install cwm?
There's only two ways to get cwm on 5360
Temp cwm
Flash this in stock recovery every time you need cwm
Perminant cwm
This is built into a custom kernel & replaces stock kernel & recovery
If you chose the later it's most likely the kernel you
flashed is not compatible with the rom/file system you are using
More information about what you are using & what you did is required
If all else fails flash stock rom via odin and start again
